Is there any news or rumors of new monsters coming out? Are they showing any at SDCC?
How many did we get in the last few years? Like 4 or 5?
It seems weird. When I used to think "sideshow", monsters came to mind. Now I think sideshow and it's everything but monsters.
If you could pick one new monster, what would it be?
I'd take a Mummy 1/4 and a Karloff (as himself) 1/6.

A PF Mummy is a no-brainer, I'm sure we'll see one soon. We'll probably see more 1/4s than 12" in the immediate future.

I don't think we'll see any monsters at the Comic Con, at least not in 1/6 scale. I'm still betting an Ygor will be released between events, such as the Con and Spooktacular.
Oh crikey, now that I have mentioned Spooktacular, that would be an ideal time. Nah, I still reckon it will be between events, maybe Spooktacular and Christmas.

It is kind of sad. It was the Universal Monsters in 1:6 that brought my attention to Sideshow in the first place. I'm sure that I'm not the only one either. Now, we who are 1:6 collectors have extensively gotten nothing as they appear to have abandoned us for the 1/4 crew. And with so many gaps still standing in the 1:6 collection that is truly a shame. We're still waiting for Ygor, Dr. Frankenstein [Clive, Rathbone any at this point] and yes I'm aware of the licensing problems, but I have seen some very nice Dr.'s that have more than a passing resemblence to Colin Clive, Elizabeth, Maleva, Inspector Krogh, Dr. Pretorius, Dr. Gustav Niemann, Daniel, Dracula [John Carridine], not to mention "regular" versions of Karloff, Lugosi and Chaney Jr. A Lon Chaney Sr would be nice too, as well as a version of him as Tito Beppi.

What happens when they run out of Premiums? Will we have to suffer Marquettes, 1/2 scalers. Are we to dwell in misery and anticipation, or will Sideshow give us Uni Monsters "The second Wave".
I can see why they are concentrating their efforts with the Premiums. Damn those Premiums, they are so nice.
The thread topic says it all.
P.S. In 1/6 scale. Yes.

I think the SSC boys like the monsters as much as we do but the evils of profitability get in the way on some of the offerings they can produce these days. Obviously the UM line is simply not one that they are able to offer many new releases in anymore. I'm happy it's still around though as it is the line I would miss the most were it to go away.
I'd be very happy with any mad scientist's they feel they can successfully market. That "Invisible Ray" twinpack would be a nice start. And besides Karloff and Lugosi I'd very much like a Wolf Frankenstein figure and would probably buy at least a couple to have a Basil Rathbone or two for bashing as well.
I'd like some of those fifties scientist heroes too, Richard Carlson and Richard Denning as well as Miss Julie Adams to go with my "Creature", and umm, you know what's his name from "This Island Earth", Rex Reason, that's the guy, would be cool. And I'd really like Faith Domergue in a spacesuit to go with my Metaluna Mutant.
I'm generally hot for some more female characters which are sorely lacking in this line. there were women in horror and Sci fi before "Scully" and "Buffy" I tell ya'. I'd like Maria Ouspenskya as the gypsy in the "Wolfman", Zita Johann in ancient Egyption outfit from "The Mummy", Gloria Holden as "Dracula's Daughter", the three "wierd women" from "Dracula", so many possibilities and so little has been done. So many great characters and costumes.
Sorry for the laundry list. Believe it or not it's way short this time. I don't think I have one figure I'd put above all others as my "must have" right now. Just too many I want pretty much equally. Or at least eventually.

This time last year, I was really scared about the line-- Toy Fair disappointed me big time; however, the items previewed at the SDCC did not fail to disappoint.
This year feels the same.
Give it a couple of weeks, then let's talk again.
Doesn't it kind of make sense, tho? Toy Fair is geared towards hooking retailers-- SSC needs to bring out the flashy stuff there. SDCC, however, is geared towards the fanboys-- the kind of folks who are probably buying monsters.
