Okay

I know this is eyecandy for me, and most people would agree when someone on the board gets something they're exessively excited by then they post a couple of pictures, or even a whole LOT of pictures.

Anyway... My first Sideshow item I ever owned after I bought The Fellowship EE the day it was released (and therefore having the argonath first day) was the original Balrog.

That also counted as the first purchase I ever made online using my creditcard. So... tracking, saving up and paying off the previous $1500 balance (from a big TV I bought) were all sweetening factors for me getting the balrog, not to mention that after I bought it, I deliberatly planned to never buy any other Sideshow Weta thing (except DVD box set things).


Well, I can very easily say that this Alien Queen bust is the item I've most anticipated receiving ever since I got the original balrog. The Alien movies (not counting AvP 'cause I don't qualify that as an alien movie, just a Predator saga movie that just happens to have aliens in it)... have just about (but not quite exactly) the same appeal to me as the three TLOTR films.

I am boxing up some more of my LOTR statues in order to put this on display. That's okay because maybe in a half year, year or more, I'll get more long-lasting and more suitable display setups for everything.

As for the Alien movies:

Alien is a classic and awesome
Aliens was even better than the original and another classic
Alien3 was ok....it could have been a LOT better
Alien4 was just BAD
AvP was nothig special

I can watch Aliens any day of the week. I really hope Sideshow makes more 1/4 pieces from it.

RIPLEY 1/4 BUST FROM ALIENS!

No not really drool, but I think that would be fantastic. The clothing, drenched-in-sweat, dirty look that she has when she's carrying Newt in the Generating station or in the loader on the Sulaco at the end.

Just like good ol' Gandalf the White bust, or Galadriel bust. We need an Ellen Ripley bust.

Alien is my #9 movie of all time! Aliens is great too... but for me Alien is supreme!

The re-assembled cut of Alien3 shows you just how amazing this film would be if the studio hadn't messed with Fincher. Niether Alien Resurrection or AVP can even be considered "Alien" movies... just awful!

I love it Nemo!!! Absolutely fantastic! I really hope that Sideshow makes an Alien 1/4 from Alien or an 1/4 Alien Warrior from Aliens. I LOVE that bust. Hmm... what to sell now.:lol

I hope several Alien and Terminator 1/4's show up at SDCC. I'll pass on the 1/4 Predator, since I'm not a huge fan of those movies.

L4P- I liked Alien Resurrection actually. I say mainly because it was the only Alien movie I saw in the theatre. The rest I were too young to see. Actually the first movie I ever saw in a movie theatre in my life was Aladdin (1992).

But I have the Alien Quadrilogy (and the Alien Legacy) and I've been meaning to watch the extended cut of Alien 3 for many months! I've heard so much positive news about it! I have Fight Club and I know Fincher is a great director.

Turins bane- No it doesn't really exceed my expectations... this is the one main reason why it doesn't actually SURPASS the balrog to me as most anticipated. I have got so many high quality items from Sideshow Collectibles, that I know what to expect.

It does not exceed, because my expectations were really high to begin with, and it definitely hit them with a resounding "hisss hissss whoosh-snap" sound. It's worth the money to pay. IF YOU HAVE ANY INTEREST IN BUYING ONE, DO NOT HESITATE TO ORDER THROUGH OUR FRIENDLY BOARD DEALERS (Alter Ego Comics, Dark Queens & Lords, Dark Shadow Collectibles, Fireside Collectibles)! elwood- wow, I never thought of that! That would be great! Much hard to do too, I imagine. I posted the picture of the parts on the table for Dave because in Gruson's thread a few days ago, Dave wondered aloud how many parts there are within the box. A full statue would probably have to be multiple pieces too, considering how dang fragile the fingers and teeth are. Oh yes! The teeth are VERY fragile. Sharp as a piece of plastic filed down to a very sharp point! And the thing has 4 arms, 2 arms of which each end in 6 fingers (including thumbs) and the smaller arms each end in 4 fingers, so we're talking 20 digits!

Palisades makes some really excellent looking (in pictures) Alien merchandice. This SC/Stan Winston Studios AQ bust is just plain amazing though.

I love the creature in both the first and second movies. In the third I think the creature looks much like the one in the first movie but the proportions of certain limbs are just a bit different, forcing it to walk on all 4 limbs instead of walking bipedal regularly. Then the creatures in Alien Resurrection as far as I remember look much similar to the creatures in James Cameron's Aliens, with that ridged head look.

Either creature from the first two films would be a welcome addition to my collection!

Finally, I too wonder what will show up @ SDCC in the Alien, Terminator and Predator licenses. Likely pictures of the T2 shotgun will be seen on webcam at the con, but as far as new stuff, who knows? *crosses fingers for a Ripley bust or statue*
