Josh I am telling you this game rules. It starts off like Lost. You are in a plane crash some stuff happens. The you realize you are in a world of a different type of politician. One that wanted nothing to do with WWII. It is really strange and oh so good.

I really didn't like the stranglehold game. It felt like I was on ice skates and not real. I really think Gears of War ruined some games for me. Same as Resistance for the PS3. My expectations are so high now. This is truely a good time to be a gamer. :rock:rock:rock:rock:rock:rock

I absolutely love this game.

I felt so immersed in Rapture. IMO, by far the best use of sound in any game ever. The 50's art work and music feel so right and the AI reacts differently and says different things each time I replay. Splicers were popping out in different places than previous play throughs.

This is the one that will pull me away from LOTRO for a bit.

If you don't have 5.1 surround sound and an HDTV, your not doing this game justice. Lower the lights and crank up the sound. It's time to get lost in Rapture...

I just played the demo and it was pretty f'n awesome. Anyone notice this looks like a bit of a teaser for the Force Unleashed? A lot of things that are pretty close to Force powers and using them in combos. Too many great games coming our right now but I'll get this as soon as they do a price reduction.

I read on Kotaku and Joystiq that some TRU's were selling Bioshock early, so I skipped downloading the demo and tried to hit up a couple of stores. They all had gaps where it should have been. and one employee told me that they got a memo to pull the product off the shelves until next week. I always get my hopes up with broken street dates! Aaaargh. Oh well, Tuesday will be here fast enough.

I downloaded the demo last night and found it to be pretty interesting. I really liked the retro level design and the use of shadows, dark and light, water, etc. made the look and feel of the game very cinematic and evocative. The powerups like whiskey, etc. boosting your health while damaging your energy, or vice versa, made it a little more strategic than just running around and picking up every item in sight.

My one major gripe--and it's pretty major in my opinion--is the inability to use both a weapon with your right hand and a plasmid attack with your left at the same time. I have become so used to duel wielding in games that the inability to do so really bugged me and being forced to switch back and forth between one or the other irritated me. I assume that progessing through the game does not grant you the ability to duel wield, but if that does happen then my biggest complaint would vanish. I would love to run around incinerating one zombie with my left hand while shooting another with the machine gun in my right.

But I can still see this being one of the big hits of the year, and probably one of the eventual 360 all time classics.

They have some cool videos for Metroid, but no playable demos (one is really cool about a super computer that might bring back some memories.... http://www.gametrailers.com/player/23490.html) They are having Metroid month though, and the original Metroid came up as a download. I figured it would be fun to run through the 8-bit version before the latest one came out, but got bogged down in the immense amount of backtracking required! If I can beat Ridley tonight, maybe I'll get to bed at a reasonable hour.:lol

:o

Gears actually surprised me, for the gameplay there was just enough variety in what you do to keep me interested, and it also helped that the different Acts got shorter and shorter (the last Act is really short) But what was really great was doing coop because then we could revive each other and take out enemies easier (the AI is horrible for the good guys).

I tried the Bioshock demo, quite short but that is really crazy, probably the most scary game I've played, and the graphics are great too.

This is pretty much what they all did with the "Riddick" game, isn't it?

Everyone went absolutely apesh#$ over a mediocre game that simply looks real pretty and gave it 9's and 10's on their reviews.

I played the "Bio" demo last night and wasn't blown away by any stretch of the imagination. It doesn't suck but it isn't God's gift to gaming.

Basically just imagine "Condemned" meets "Riddick".

So even still, "Rainbox: Vegas" is the best bet on the 360.

I've barely touched my 360 since GOW was released. Alot of that had to do with my HDTV crapping out on me New Year's Day, and being without it for a couple of months. But there haven't really been any games I've been interested in so far this year either.

That's all about to change very soon. I'll be getting Bioshock and I'm also looking forward to Mass Effect, Too Human and, of course, Halo 3. There's probably another game or two that I can't think of off the top of my head.

That is not the case. You sir have some reading to do IMO. There will be endless ways to kill your enemies. Many different types of powers. The demo isn't even barely a taste of what you will be able to do. I don't remember being able to posess my foes in Rainbow Six. Do you? :monkey3

me neither.... 4 player co-op!!!! co-op is what made the first game IMO. if it wasn't for that it would've been just another FPS. halo 2 was sold because of the awesome online play, but remember the first game didn't have that until someone figured out how to hack system link.

Quick heads up - Circuit City is advertising the regular edition of BioShock for 49.99 (10 dollars cheaper than everyone else). If you don't want to shop there, you might be able to get other major retailers to price match (I know Best Buy and Wal-Mart price match them).

Now you know, and knowing is half the battle!

Also, if anyone picks up the collector's edition from Gamestop/ EB and decides they do not want the Big Daddy figure, then LMK. Willing to pay 15 bucks for him. I was going to buy the CE, but I have 40 bucks in Reward Zone credit from Best Buy so I am going to be be able to get the reg. version for like 12 bucks after price match. I want the Big Daddy figurine, but can't rationalize spending an extr 62 bucks to buy the CE at Gamestop.

P.S. This offer is good til I get one. If you get tired of him down the road and remember this post, then LMK.

It period music (and before you reply BadMoon, I mean music from the period of time the city was originally built ... the 1950's ... shame on you Moon for even thinking such things :D) and I think it's pretty cool. Don't have the collector's edition but managed to find the soundtrack "online". If you hate it ...well, it's going to be a long trek through Rapture.

I was going to pick up the CE despite the 40 dollar certificate I had at BB, but the only copy left had a broken drill as well, and I do not trust companies who say, "oh, we'll fix it later". So, if anyone has a non-broken figure, I will gladly trade you a brand new copy of 300 on Blu-Ray. Come on, a 30 dollar movie for your little figure ... do it! :monkey3

Listen if you would have picked up the collectors then you would understand that you are a complete moron. Thank you drive through! It is not from the game sountrack at all. It is fricking Moby and it sounds like I just walked into a gay bar by accident. Simmer down there chief. I would suggest next time not making comments until you know what the heck you are talking about. :D

FYI Moby is a techno artist and I hate techno!

P.S. I happen to think the SOUNDTRACK of the game circa 1950's is quite cool.

Did any stores other than EB/Gamestop get the Collectors box with the Big Daddy figure? I should have pre-ordered, but they stopped 'em late last week, and I have a few Best Buy bucks lying around...

The demo was great, with a creepy vibe. The hacking puzzles were kinda interesting, but not too tough, just an interesting touch. I can't wait to play more of the game and get to meet Atlas and his family, because he comes off way too nice.

Not sure where the anger came from. Well, if the soundtrack I downloaded off bittorrent is the game soundtrack, and you got Moby ... hmm ... who exactly got screwed in that deal? :D

Sorry, the torrent was labeled BioShock soundtrack, so I assumed it was the one that came with the CE.

No worries. Not too mad. Just don't like it when someone comes in my thread and trys to tell me whats what. Back to the issue at hand though I myself was really disappointed with the soundtrack. I thought I was going to get some cool renditions of 1950's music. Instead I am treated to techno slash trance dance music. Again, not my cup of tea. All is well. :D

Okay, should have read the readme file DUH! .... The seeder felt the same way about the PC version's music soundtrack so he ripped the music from the PC version. I rather enjoy the mood music from the game. Oh well, back to Rapture.

:rotfl :lol

- you could tell the 360 was being pushed too hard
- I also wonder how much better the graphics would’ve been had they not been compressed to fit on a DVD
- Now I do not fault the developers for this, they only had so much system power to work with so maybe this will all be addressed with the PS3 version when it comes out.
- To conclude, let this game cook in the oven just a little bit longer and wait for the superior PS3 version.

yeah i laughed while reading the article. total fanboy oblivion. the 2k developers of the game have stated numerous times that its only on the 360. either way they said they had no problems whatsoever with the programming of the game. and i have yet to notice the game "pushing" the system too hard.

I got the PC version and it is fantastic!!!

The game is great with some spectacular graphics...especially all the water graphics. And those Big Daddys are NASTY...I really have to debate whether I want to attack them or not when I see them...but I tackle them to get the Little Sisters.

If there is one complaint I got it's that the combat can get kind of confusing and with trading between your guns and your plasmids and then switching WITHIN those subcategories can get kind of tricky when you have a bunch of Splicers after you. You lose a bit of control over your choices but it does keep you on your toes.

An "auto-first aid" pack feature might be nice as well...so you don't have to click the button to use it all the time. Then again, I'm not far enough in the game to see whether that option is one of my upcoming tonics.

I also like setting the mutants on fire and watching them run to water to douse the flames, and then sending an electro shock into the water to fry them and finish the job.

Or freezing them solid and then smacking them with a wrench and shattering them to pieces.

Etc.

I agree! I am really going through it with a fine tooth comb and I am taking forever. I even noticed a resawn think with the big daddys. I though that once you killed something it was dead. I guess that is not so once you leave a room and come back to it.

yes i believe to stop them from coming back you have to either harvest them or save the sisters to keep the big daddys from coming back. im stuck at a point with no first aid packs. i keep dying and regenerating right next to where i died with no chance of getting an aid pack. there's two big daddys in the vicinity. either way they won't mess with you if you don't attack them first.

lol... thats happened to me a couple of times. best thing to do is draw them out into the open where there isn't a hole where she can jump into. if you kill him quickly enough she usually sticks close to him. i use the shock on him because it stuns him for a second and while he can't move i blast away with my armor piercing tommy gun rounds.

How long is the game? Didn't this just come out? Or did you play it for like 48 hours straight?

I played it for 48 hours straight.

I am on vacation this week, but my son started school so we weren't able to take off and go anywhere. I have been relaxing at home and picked this up on Tuesday and have been playing it practically nonstop since then. I didn't really rush through it, and it's been a lot of fun. My wife did kind of want it over with sooner rather than later due to the violence/scariness (some involving children) and profanity (lots of F bombs in the dialogue, which surprised me) and she didn't want the kids watching it, so I kind of went through it as quickly as possible without ruining the experience or skipping stuff.

On a normal schedule, this would have taken me a while to get through. If you want to get most of the achievements and experience all of the content, it will take even longer. This game has more of a plot and scripted story/backstory than most others, and the more you take the time to listen to all of the scattered tape recordings, etc., the more you will enjoy the experience. And by the time you get to the end, it's all spoiled--so do it right the first time and you will have a lot of fun.

The ill Jedi

NICE, a Bioshock Marathon!! :rock

It is quite a relief to hear you say that the game is that long, I hate it when I get a game that I love and it is too short. I seriously can not wait to get my hands on this game (and GoW finally)!! :o

I got the game the day it came out and I've been taking my time with it. I'm making sure to check every corner of the maps, listening to every diary, researching every enemy with the camera...I like taking my time with games so I'm going to stretch it out so I can get the whole story.

I'm not big on rushing through games just to get them done,I want to enjoy the whole experience and certainly get my money's worth.

I seem to remember that the combination to that one was scrawled on a note over on nearby shelf where I picked up a diary. Was it 5477? I can't remember. At any rate, all that is behind the door is a few ammunition rounds and maybe another diary recording. Nothing major.

Not quite. Basically, when they developed the game they were developing it in widescreen, then when the time came to make the settings for fullscreen instead of adding black bars at the top and bottom or cutting off the sides they just added some stuff to the top and bottom, so the fix should make it so that widescreen users have what's in fullscreen but also some more on the sides.

There is a 100 point Xbox Live Achievement that you will only get if you save all of the girls.

And the temptation to harvest them instead so that you can get extra ADAM is lessened when you start to receive those teddy bears from Tenenbaum as a reward for helping the girls.

Aggh, it's taking too long to download, it's finally going but it's going at like 10kb/s so I won't be able to play it until tonight or tomorrow. But I already tried the demo on my PC and it runs really well. There's other games that have lower graphics quality that I have to run at even lower settings before they'll work on my system, but I only have to lower Bioshock just a little bit. That's pretty good for me though since it's using the Unreal Engine 3 and I really want to do a lot of stuff with Unreal Tournament 3 when it comes out on PC later this year.

Remember, Call of Duty 4 Multiplayer Beta signups at 12pm Pacific today (around 3 hours from now) remember to be registered and signed in beforehand. http://www.charlieoscardelta.com

I was still able to unlock all of my empty slots in all categories, so the extra Adam from harvesting must not have been that important. You can also get new powers/upgrades from the U-Invent stations rather than purchasing them with Adam. It doesn't seem like there is that much of an advantage to harvesting them. How much Adam do you get from each one when you harvest the girls?

That me say that I played like a mad man on Friday night and all day on Sunday. I would say if you compare it with gears its a little longer but not much. To me, GOW is the better game because of overall value. Both games graphics rock, but to me GOW is just a bad ass shootem-up adventure. And the multiplayer kicks ass, especially when you get a group of friends together (there are way too many clans out there killing in ranked matches).
