What do you all want to see on the Product Cam during Comic Con? We have 4 days (plus the preview night!) of cam time to fill up, and we are interested to know what the majority of collectors not attending the Con are most interested in getting "up close and personal" with! You can be as specific as possible, and we'll try as hard as we can to fit everything in.

Let the people speak... we bow to your commands :bow - at least until we strain our backs :)

Any new items being shown at Comic Con, the SDCC exclusives, The Dead line and X-Files. Thats what I want to see anyway.

I think the best bet is the new stuff being shown at SDCC because WE (the non-attendees) can't see it up close and personal.

How about some more info on the Dead (the reason behind Patient Zero's page going funky, background, etc.)?

And don't worry, I'll be sure to get any SSF members I can on the Cam Hat - we're going to have like a million views of the booth... on the other hand, no one will be seeing me on a cam, since I'm wearing it on my HEAD. Duh. 8)

I REALLY hope that is the case. I can't wait to see this piece.

As far as what to put on the Cam, definitely count me in as wanting to see all of the 1/4 SW pieces, all of the newly announced LOTR pieces, 1/4 Predator, hopefully a 1/4 "Arnold" version of the Terminator, and any SW or LOTR art prints.

Okay Dusty....here's one. How about taking a bit of time -- no more than 1/2 hour or so each day (or maybe twice a day....morning and late afternoon) to do a roving reporter thing? Walk around in SDCC and show us some of the atmosphere going on around -- not just at the SS booth. It would give us "at home-rs" a taste of the excitement?

BTW....noted that your training under the mentorship of the Mistress seems to be going very well. You've nearly got her unique posting approach down. :bow :bow ;) May we call you mini-Mistress? :dance

oh boy, I can only speculate and drool at thoughts of what the Aliens and Predator lines could produce.

Personally, I would hope that any new things are strictly keeping away from the AvP movie and just having characters from the classic movies. I would love to see a predator action figure from sideshow. I think that would make the first Sideshow Collectibles fully-articulated figure I would ever actually order. So far the only ones I own are ones I've traded for, or won.

I don't really want to see a 1/4 predator statue, but I wouldn't mind seeing a 1/4 predator bust.

Or a 1/6 predator statue with a 1/6 Dutch (Arnold S.) statue, in some sort of interacting set of poses.

and maybe a 1/6 of Ripley (sigourney w.) in the loader with a 1/6 alien queen in the grips, together as one statue......

That'd definitely be another one I'd buy.

where's the drool floor, the one with the gratings so we don't slip and fall?
I need to go there and think more of these. :drool

To Dusty, Chicky, Chris, or anyone on this board who physically overpowers everyone at the SDCC Sideshow exhibit-

I would like to see all 3 so-far-released Insanely Twisted Rabbits in one shot together, plus also any others that are in the works..

maybe see all of the simpsons busts in one single shot too...
But I don't care much about the latter.

a 1/6 of Ripley (sigourney w.) in the loader with a 1/6 alien queen in the grips, together as one statue

A long time ago (probably 15 or more years) I went to a touring exhibit at a local museum that contained props from various movies (similar to the LOTR exhibit that many are seeing now).

One of the props was the power loader from Aliens, and it was the perfect size for a 1:1 prop replica. It would be absolutely fantastic for Sideshow to create a replica of the maquettes used for the power loader and the Alien Queen. I would love to see that.

I forgot to add earlier that I hope a 1/4 Alien statue from the original movie makes an appearance at some point.

It's a bit hard to know what I would want to see close up. We have good details of what has already been released and have no knowledge of what will be released. Of course the new releases will be the focus of choice, other than that the latter releases, like Ultimate HellBoy, Werewolf Oz, Patient Zero and the other exclusives. Nude bodies, Ultimate HellBoy again, as his body isn't the standard, accessories, the packaging and such. The product gets the majority of the focus, so, for me, seeing the faces of excited 'Freaks' conveys much of the buzz I would like to pick up on, especially if they are board members. Maybe name plates with their Board names to identify the culprits. ;) :yay

First you should debut your new Indy license with the first 1/4 then show the 1/4 predator. Follow up the predator with anything and everything SW and LOTR. Specifically you can show the ROTK litho and barad-dur, then show Obi-wan and Leia.

What did happen with the Apes 1/4 line?!?!?

That is a question I keep bring up both in this section and in the "Ask Sideshow" section from time to time. The only answer I got was "mum is the word" which was about nine months ago. I would like to know definitively what the fate of these figures are. Even if they are cancelled due to the lower-than-expected enthusiasm of their 1/6 line, I STILL would love to see the prototypes of these beasties. And since these 1/4 scale Apes were slated to be up for pre-order (according to their 2/28/04 newsletter) you KNOW those prototypes exist.

Please, Sideshow, can we have a peek?

How about sticking the cam behind a figure, or between its legs? You'll get some reaction shots as people do double takes. Or why not have a table with a couple of loose figures on it and invite people to play with them (gasp!) then film them? (Of course, you'll need to have a staff member watching to ensure the figure's don't walk - but then anyone who did steal them would be filmed doing it!). How about an action figure version of Big Brother with figs from every one of your big lines where we vote out a figure every day?

Oh, and when you announce your Indiana Jones 1/6 line and the Thunderball Jet Pack Bond, that might be worth filming...:clap

Please take it as a given that we will be showing off all of our new, as-yet-unannounced product to the fullest extent possible! :rock

I just thought maybe there were some older and/or sold out items that you guys hadn't seen in a while, which you would like to re-visit close up. We just need to know in advance, as all our display cases are really hard to get into this time around and won't be able to be opened on the fly for on-the-spot product cam viewage. I'd like to see a Premium 1/4 scale figure dissected. I'd like to know what tolerance the inner wire armature has, just to know I can go about bending arms without fear of it snapping, and how a repair should be approached, if an armature should snap. I wouldn't mind knowing how one is assembled either. Probably not the type of thing you have in mind for the Con, just putting suggestions forward.

I trust you Dusty, I know you will do your best with what you have, and hopefully, have some fun doing it. All questions are difficult to us. We analyze, assume, and doubt everything, but you'll soon get used to us.

um...Dusty. So I didn't know you were already planning to do a Roving Cam. So my brilliant idea was late. So here's another idea:

Whenever an SSF member stops by, you tell them they gotta do the Robot for all the guys back home. Then you have us vote on the best and they win a special prize from you. :p

<runs and hides from Dave>

SideshowDusty
06-24-2005, 11:50 AM
Hmmmm - Dave hates to do the Robot, eh? I will try to entice members into a Robot or perhaps a Moonwalk. But the cam is not live action, it takes a still frame every 10 secs as per usual, so don't expect TOO much dancing, although I'm sure we can get a couple of strange poses... I figure I'll try to get everyone at the booth to do the dance from Thriller at some point - I'm sure everyone would be all on top of that :rollin

I can see it would be hard to motivate the staffers, I mean how do you out geek the geeks? Just keep hiding behind the camera Dusty, or it might be you having to perform. How about something shorter and simpler, that everyone can do. The banana. :banana

"Sideshow Freaks, we have the banana." I know I read that here somewhere, just can't remember who to credit right now.

Maybe we could see the range of development of the Sideshow 1/6 scale bodies. From the first release to now detailing the slightest differences accompanied by what prompted the developments and why we can't have retro releases. I say that because there have been numerous examples of late, where arms and legs are exposed, and it seems to me they would look better with less articulation on those occassions. Sometimes new and improved doesn't always work best. Also we don't always undress our figures to view what has changed. It doesn't have to be full on, like what I have mentioned. It could just be for any of the latest releases that have had any changes we aren't aware of yet. Like the Con exclusives, for example, does the Ultimate Hellboy use the same body as the previous Hellboy.

Wouldn't mind seeing the 1/6 exclusive Washington. The description states that it comes with an additional sword accessory, and further down the page it states that it is, indeed, a sword. That being the case, I'd like to see him with his weapons drawn, and a close up of his weapons.

When this figure was announced we speculated as to whether the regular would have a sword at all, or that the exclusive, accessory sword, might be an ornate version. I'd sure like clarification of the situation, and, of course, more pics of da man. Nice cossie.
