View Full Version : New Cinemaquettes - Aragorn, Alien

They look good, although Aragorn doesn't look too much like like Viggo. He has real hair, beard, eyebrows. But the costume is amazing. Real chainmail and metal armor.

The Alien is great, but looks like the McF figure only huge.

The Arnie they are showing doesn't look as good as the prototype, the paint on the face looks non-existant, although maybe the silicon requires that.

I just can't help thinking that with SSC's Predator at $1,000 what CMQs would be.

ZKULPTOR from StatueForums posted pics of Aragorn.

Are you sure that's not some guy in a costume? :lol :\

TURINS BANE

WTF, that is terrible.:lol And I thought some of the SSW likeness were off. It looks nothing like him,
it look a bit like Val killmar, but that's it
So that should help a bit.

They should be showing Indy, at the end of the year.
I really hope they don't screw it up, but it doesn't
look good. With Indy they need to nail his chiselled,
good looks, or it just won't look like him.

It does look like someone in a costume.:)

So they get points for being lifelike! Man that is an awesome statue, even if it does not look like Viggo. :clap

That does look lifelike! If the likeness was better that would be a must have.

When I first saw that 2nd picture, I thought it was a real guy. Got to agree that the likeness does suck though, especially for the 1k+ price tag.

I'm glad Aragorn will be so easy to pass on. I don't like it at all, but it does look REAL. WTF, I mean they NAILED the T3 Arnold.

I eagerly await Alien pics. :drool

WOW!
I must be the ONLY guy that sees Vigo there.
(Although the lighting is TERRIBLE!)

I'm shocked at how amazing this piece is! Wish they weren't
SOO expensive. Any chance that there'd be a way to get
these cheaper? (ebay or a dealer cutting on profit?)

Hey,

Where is the Alien picture?

As for Aragorn, I was hoping for him in the "Strider" outfit (black).

I guess I can save my money now.

He does look VERY realy...just not a lot like Viggo.

I really like it, and agree with bad lighting comment.

No way am buying it though, its way too much.. and anyway where the hell would you put it?

No Super Serg, I can faintly see a resemblance to Viggo as well. I'm still not sure how all the rights thing works, but the word on the SS/Weta pieces was that Viggo didn't want an exact likeness to him. Maybe it is the same story with Cinemaquettes. :dunno

These are great....If they tie the hair back like it was at the Black gate...it will change the look a bit!
I love these!

Aragorn REALLY needs to trim those eyebrows. lol

Where's the Alien, then.?

Sir Tristram

I know...I'm having a really difficult time finding any inforrmation in these or any other Cinemaquette stuff! >:

Oxbeard
07-14-2005, 04:26 PM
I will update my previous post. Viking asked Brant in chat today about the rumour of Viggo not wanting an exact likeness and Brant said no it was not true.

Of course, that gives me mixed feelings. Now no one really has an excuse. Why can't anyone nail Viggo's likeness? :dunno

Sir Tristram
07-14-2005, 04:41 PM
He's just one of those guys....Look at him....I mean he even looks NOTHING like Aragorn without his make up and costumes on!

Leia/Carrie Fisher is knd of that way too!

I think it's fine with these....I feel like it is of ARAGORN rather than Viggo playing ARAGORN.

Gruson
07-14-2005, 04:45 PM
It must look like Viggo for me to buy him. Right now, no chance in hell I would buy it.

Are these LOTR ones from Sideshow -- someone told me this is not from SS

Sir Tristram
07-14-2005, 05:03 PM
No, they are NOT Sideshow....They are made buy CINEMAQUETTE.

I'm in for ARAGORN, GANDALF, LEGOLAS and INDY!!!

Since SS appears to have kicked but with Predator. Indy and Jack Sparrow will be the only Cinemaquettes I will consider at this point.

Its the eyes, they are way off...

elwood49

I agree with Azog. I think if the eyes were done properly, then this piece could be fantastic. Still waiting for Alien pics.

Sorry about the glare- this is huge, at least 3 feet, probably more.

Aragorn and Alien are supposed to be out this year with Sparrow and Indy and the other LotR and Predator next year.

They just scanned Depp apparently -

That Alien is VERY cool. The Cinemaquette one will be WAAAY out of my range if it's 3 feet tall. I really hope Sideshow makes a Predator "companion" piece like this of the Alien. Great piece!

I just wish there was more information on these....Very secretive... :poke

That Alien piece is AWESOME. I must have it!

:)

I guess Stan Winston let Sideshow release the Predator first and they Cinemaquette gets the Alien first.

Thanks for the film Azog....What does it say on the base he's standing on?
Man, I like the aragorn the more I look at it....I think I'm in for one! God, I hope Indy looks good!
The Alien look exceptional, but I just cannot afford anymore stuff! ....I can't even afford what I have on order! :bang

This is exactly what's going through my head... But how the hell do I sneak this one past my wife... :x

I'm tempted to sell may Cave Troll or Wiki Trueform to fund (1) Cinemaquette purchase. But which one?

T-800
Alien

or do I hold out for :

Indy
Predator

Oh, perhaps some day we will see a Chris Reeve as Superman...

Gruson
07-14-2005, 08:39 PM
Reeve would be #1 for me too....him or Indiana Jones.

I have Arnold (T-850) on order. That's it so far.

Everything looks perfect with this Alien piece. I love the pose and base.

It will most likely cost $1250 or so....

Jeff,

Would you hock Cavey or Wiki for your favorite Cinemaquette? I know you mentioned that you sold many of your weta peices to go premium...

BTW, nice HT...I'll have to consolidate pics of mine to one page so I can share. I wish I had a separate media and collectible room. Mine are all displayed in my dedicated HT room.

Gruson

I would hold on to Cave Troll. I wish I still had mine at times.

I liked the Wiki too but he's not worth the $1200. I sold mine for $1500 to fund other statues.

As for Cinemaquettes, not sure yet. I will let you know what I think of Arnold in a couple of weeks, once he arrives.

A friend has the T-X and it's amazing how nice the quality is.

That Alien looks excellent, I wonder if they will do an Alien queen.? That would be around 3 feet at least. I'm happy with my bust though.

WW, I would definitely sell the Wiki. Granted, I've never owned one, but there's no way that I would keep a statue that originally cost $150 to make when I could have a piece the quality of the Cinemaquettes (or the SS Predator for that matter) at the same price.

I am starting to be in the market for HUGE pieces and the SS/W stuff doesn't really cut it anymore. The Cave Troll DOES cut it, though, and I definitely would keep that one. The only small pieces I have coming that I really want are KOTD and the Battle Troll.

Oh, and to answer your question: If I was going to buy one Cinemaquette shown so far it would definitely be the T-800. Indy looks like a must as well.

TURINS BANE

If I was to sell my WIKI, or any other weta piece, it
would only be to get Henry Jones Junior. The character
and films, are very special to me. I just hope they do
him justice.

Elwood49,

Good point regarding the differential in their original MSRP. I didn't think of it that way. This definitely helps me justify the sale of Wiki. Now I just got to get over my love of LOTR and the awesome sculpt and pose of Wiki. It's one of the few statues that acurately depicts an actual scene from the LOTR films.

Other thoughts...

The fact that Stan Winston Studios is developing the 1/4 Predator really adds to the appeal. Owning a product that was designed and developed by the same artists / production studio is very cool. In comparison, I always loved the fact that Weta Workshop artists designed and developed the LOTR statues.

Thanks for the clip Azog. I can see the likeness of Viggo better viewing that, but it still looks to me like he has a receding hairline.
