I kept looking for this thread, and realized, no one's started one yet!
I guess there aren't enough figures in hand to see lots of variants yet.

But, with Maulfan's and edwint's shots and many more to come, I thought I would show my repainted ALIENS Warrior, and give my review of it, since I have a few comments to make on it.

First. GREAT HT Box. Perfect as always.
Upon opening, it is an easy buildup. Took me less than a minute.
The bendy hands are cool and the back tubes go on easy.

Now, my complaints.
The back tubes fall off easy (if you are prone to play with it like I am...)
The feet just fall off if you look at 'em wrong...
And, of course...you all know me...movie Accuracy.

BUT, all that having been said, this is one amazing figure. The poses are already well documented by edwint and Maulfan already. So, I will refrain from trying to compete with those amazing images. NO WAY I can do that stuff! Just anticipaing MF's ceiling shot....

So, how is it finish wise? Paint wise. Fine. For the non-fixerupper, it works fine. As Maulfan has said, it's glossy, catches light well and has the look of the Aliens version in amazingly dramatic ways, so much so, that I have to rebut my own previous criticisms of it.

However, being an ALIEN/Giger fanatic, I have to repaint mine. I will say, it is an easy paint, if you are halfway capable. as the raised details on the more paintable legs and arms are easy to drybrush to bring out raised details.
It is hard to match the rubber chest and head areas, because there are no blacks or real darks in them, so you have to fudge it. But, it can be repainted and remain posable, and it becomes about 100% more dramatic! And, dare I say it, more movie accurate. it even has physical attributes of the original ALIEN and that alone makes it a keeper for me. I never knew it would be so cool.

Edited Additional BEFORE repaint shot:

Now, my pics...

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a10/angremien/MyHTAW006.jpg

I did repaint the tongue, as it is supposed to be white and not dark. Left the teeth alone.

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a10/angremien/MyHTAW001.jpg

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a10/angremien/MyHTAW003.jpg

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a10/angremien/MyHTAW004.jpg

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a10/angremien/MyHTAW007.jpg

And side by side with my repainted MacFarlane Alien (reworked into an ALIENS Alien)

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a10/angremien/MyHTAW012.jpg

You can see the differences from the more movie accurate Mac toy, and this one, but, IT DOESN'T MATTER! This is so cool a figure, and TALL! It is more in keeping with the famous Takeya Alien Pile statue kit, and therefore is still very much in the lore of all things ALIEN.

I posed mine for this shoot with a physical homage to the original Bolaji Bodajo ALIEN posture, with his slightly bowed legs and physical "weirdness".

This is a great toy! I sure hope you guys can get one, if you haven't already.

Now, for more pics! Who knows what kind of stuff is to come! (Wait til Pjam and WOrGar get their's! I imagine the WorGar kitchen is gonna get rough! :lol)

I give this figure, FLAWS AND ALL, FIVE STARS! It rules!

awesome pics, awesome repaint, and awesome thread Les. :D

question, do you have pics of before and after so I can see exactly what was repainted?

awesome pics, awesome repaint, and awesome thread Les. :D

:lol NO! I was so excited I didn't think to photo it before. I am sure someone has that. Look at any of them so far, Edwins is unrepainted as is Maulfan's. It is not that dramatic. Just the highlights really. If I had photographed it, with the flash, I bet you wouldn't see much difference. It's the glossy highlights areas that I repainted. ANd some color shifts to blend areas better.
It is a REAL subtle repaint. But, it does look better in regular light because of that. It's just me. I can't stand it not being repainted. :D

Look for the light color lines mostly. The areas around details like those ribbed things on the arms and legs and tubes and all. Those were not there, Nor were the head bones brought out much. I added all that light tan stuff.
Oh, and the hands. Lots of work on the hands...

A few more pics

Matched the colors in the chest ribs on the tubes...
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a10/angremien/MyHTAW008.jpg

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a10/angremien/MyHTAW009.jpg

Another comp with the Mac Alien (which is more screen accurate colorwise, and detail wise...)
http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a10/angremien/MyHTAW013.jpg

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a10/angremien/MyHTAW014.jpg

BTW, that cool skipping pattern on the ribs, (wich I copied to the back tubes) almost looks like camoflauge, and is very screen accurate. The ALIENS guys had that weird patterning. VERY cool! I do love that part of this figure, HT got that very right!

Thanks Dave! :bow

And great question...NO, no HT stand. I was dissapointed, but will make him/her/it one as I have several spare ALIENS ones....this was just a good makeshift one to shoot with. The figure is tall, but not too heavy.
Suggestion on HT stands, if you have Predators which are heavy, or an ALien or Marine, superglue the post to the base. No more falling apart on pickups. I went through that ONCE. Never again! Holds 'em all fine.

Whoa Les, that figure is great. I am shaking with anticipation for mine. Sideshow keeps teasing me with "We're billing you, it's coming, it's coming...." :lol
I will have to repaint the tounge at least. That sickly, milky white toungue always grossed me out and was one of my favorite things about the Star Beast ;). Reminded me of the awful weird color of Bratwurst, which I could probably never eat even if I wasn't a Vegatarian :).

Nice work on the highlights, Les! As you said, it's quite subtle, but it shows up especially well on the hands, feet, and head. I've got one of these guys on the way from Blister Direct (should be here any day now) and I'm going to follow your lead by painting the tongue white, among other things. I also like the Gigeresque features on this figure, and enhancing those details like you did makes this warrior even more spectacular. I'm glad to hear you're so happy with it after your original reservations, too!

Yeah guys. It is too cool a figure not to "enhance"! :D

I did add a shot I found online of the Alien in the box, as it comes, without any repaint detail. It's in the original post, and is first. You can see all the parts well in it.

I'd be honored sir! :D

Another thought I might mention to you fellas not yet in possession of your's yet...
Almost every single joint, except the wrists, are double jointed. Every one. His shoulders, pivot and pose. His elbows, knees, ankles, neck, and of course, that wild body, all pose like mad. He can almost assume the Alien 3 Dog Alien poses. AMAZING posability. Now, if I can find a way to keep his feet on...:lol
And I prefer the bendy hands over the harder ones. The hard ones look nice, and have wicked cool claws, but are not as ALIEN as the bendy ones are.
And, even though the "hips" area is not too screen accurate, it does look like the A3/AR/AVP hips, and allows for great poses, so it's not too shabby. I guess they'd have a tough time with the torso with one big part.

This figure makes you imagine what an ALIEN could be. Wow. One step away. And, Maybe, a more extensive body suit. Make the ALIEN one have a ribs/shoulders to upper thighs bodysuit piece. It could be done. And make the upper and lower back tubes the same size...that is not correct here, but I figure it's an artistic licence thing. Doesn't look bad. But for the first movie one, I hope they get that right. The feet and hands are close in look. Add an alternate thumb, lose the extra inner toes...dome the head and add some lips...man...not too far.....not too far...

All that's left for this one is the inevitable variants I guess....man....BD ones, alternate arms and colors ones...the mind boggles. It's not like for ALIENS, you wouldn't get more of them!

Thanks guys! I could "Lesterize" Aliens ALL DAY LONG! I love 'em too much!

Hey, JUST DISCOVERED COOL THING!

One of my all-time favorite poses that is almost unique to ALIENS, due to the 1/1 puppet, and in that first shot we see of Dietrich getting grabbed, is the "Mantis" pose. The Hot Toys figure can almost do this on it's own...but it has these weirdly carved cuffs around each hand post.
SO.....your's truly removed said barring lower, quite unseen hand cuff from the arm stem, and now....

The ALIEN MANTIS POSE!

It was white as a result of the material the used in Aliens for the creature's slime. In Alien is was clear KY jelly, but you can see in some scenes of Aliens that whatever they used had a milky look to it.

As for your question, I got the grid floor at my local Wal*Mart.
They are Under-Gravel Filters for fish tanks that I got for about $10 a set.

No problem. Good news bad news of being trained as an artist, you find yourself picking up on the most minute of details in everything, so where a casual viewer might just see the Aliens mouths all slimy like they should be, I see how it's more white looking compared to the first film.

Guys! MaulFan! Facebox! You realize how cool these images are?!?!? And that nest is gonna look great in your lighting configuration!

Just wanted to pass on an idea...
You guys, and I do mean, for now, you two...need to start an ALIENS Wallpaper images thread! Just wallpapers! Wallpaper images made with these new figures!
I just grabbed some of Face's last pix, and one of them is now blown up to my screen size (1024 x 768) and is on my computer! MAN! It looks too cool for school! I didnt alter the image in any way, just blew it up to my screen size. It looks super!

You gotta make some official ones! Put your names in there in small at the bottoms and make these screen dimensions. There are others for Mac users and whatnot, so be aware of that, but man, your pics are DYNAMTE! AWESOME!

Go for it guys!

I hope what I have in mind goes over well. It's not as cool as Face's movie set looks, but they will be entertaining to say the least. I hope so anyway.

Think about a wallpaper thread. I bet it would go over great!

Thanks fellas.

Sweet pictures Les.
I'm totally lovin' your repaint! Makes me feel warm and fuzzy. :D
On top of that, you went and made it even cooler with the "bad boy" look. You crack me up. :lol

Furthermore, I really have no wallpaper making skills, so feel free to use my images however ya'll see fit. You can alter them or whatever. All I ask in return is that you don't plagiarize them. ;)

Be happy too, though the possibilities will be limited to the resolution of your images. Everything I shoot is at least 2200 pixels wide so I have options, but I wouldn't size smaller pics too big or you lose the quality, you can always sort of "frame" smaller images in a wallpaper sized file. Let me know Facebox, same for you Les if you want to see any of your shots done up.

I think this repaint will be in yellowish highlights from what I can see from the small image...more true to the ACTUAL movie colors that we saw from a previous image posted a few pages back. They could be going for the different highlights as well much like the ALIENS snap-kits (blue, red and yellow).

It could also be battle-damage as well.

Glad somebody gets my humor..:lol
I have thought of aliens as funny ever since, in 1992, a very good artist buddy of mine, Jason Martin (Who worked for a time in Atlanta GA with the Gai-Jin Comic artists, Adam Hughes, Brian Stelfreeze, Jason Pearson, Cully Hamner, and others, all of whom I got to hang out with when I went to visit him often, which was great! You should see Adam Hughes' sketchbook pages...WOW! Or Brian Stelfreeze's Captain America Three page short! MAN!), anyway, Jason came over to my place in Savannah, Georgia, and we shot a video of my old 18" Kenner ALIEN toy that had a working mouth, and we made him the narrator of the video, "hosting" other figures I had at the time. It was silly, but funny as hell, and the Alien hosted what we came to call, ALIEN SLUMBER PARTY. It was a hoot.

Anyway, ever since then, I have always thought they had that sardonic smile, and how they looked like they thought everything was funny.
Love ALIENS, don't get me wrong, I love them as seriously as any fan can, but when you have homeade footage like that, which is lost now, somewhere...

Anyway, that's why I am predisposed to Aliens humor.
Hope some of you enjoyed it. :D

By the way, I have been working on an ALIEN SLUMBER PARTY 2 for a while now. Hope I can make it happen.

Still, I have been thinking of a good use for this "turd" Alien...it may be useful to me... I would rather call it a "Bee" Alien though. Look at it! I think it actually buzzes! :D
(Remember in ALIEN, it did sort of buzz in some scenes...especially when it is about to molest Lambert...no one ever mentions that...)

I've actually often wondered if that sound was meant more as a musical effect or creature effect. You hear it when it kills Brett, Lambert and Parker, but when it goes after Dallas and Ripley, it sounds more like the sounds used later in the sequels. I like the more animal like sounds personally, the Buzz sound is too close to like an overloading generator sound or something, very mechanical where the other sounds have a definite animal quality to them.

Yes, me too, I don't know what to think about this repaint... Looks good on the pictures, but it has lost that Giger feeling I think. It's just not Giger's palette. I wonder what inspired HT to make this. And like BG said, it's not even a limited run... I ordered, but may cancel. I've got (or will have soon) already three Aliens, and, with a bit of luck, there might be a HT Queen. So, no real need for this repaint.

Was it ever mentioned exactly how limited the other brown Alien would be? Total? Imported to the US? I can't remember.

EDIT: I just had a look at the SSC product page: Limited Edition of 350 imported to the US. That's for the exclusive brown version of the 16" AVP Alien.

Outcome: we are going to get A L I E N figures and Predator 1 figures.

Oh, I have absolutely no doubt that HT will work its way to figures from the first and third movies, as well as P1.
I mean... they have the AvP license, the Aliens license and the Predator 2 license. It wouldn't be very logical for them not to have or pursue the Alien, Alien 3 and Predator 1 (and AvP2) licenses. If they don't have them already.
I guess the only reason for them to not do figures from these movies is if they should have poor sales from the current releases, and I don't see that happening.

So... I can't frigging wait to see the next rounds of announcements!

Hi Wookster! Welcome here. Great pictures man! Can't wait to get my Aliens Alien warrior. Not sure if the newly released repaint is a must have, now that I saw how nicely this original warrior is painted. But, it's always cool to have a 'herd' (or should I say army...) of Aliens, so I might keep the order. I don't dig the grid Alien though... No point IMO, and besides that, it doesn't look like HT did a good job on that head. Still, I guess one can never have enough HT Aliens!

I talked to Adam before SDCC and he said they get their stuff from SSC after they ship the others first and with SDCC in the middle of all that didn't expect to receive theirs until after SDCC.

Best to email Adam and ask but I think it won't be long now before they ship, maybe this week.

Yeah Les, the back tubes are much looser with this alien than my AVP one.

Havent had much trouble with the feet yet.

Les, my feet are a little on the loose side, but I've yet to have it interfere with the figure's ability to be posed and stay standing without assistance. I also noticed the tube looseness, but I only experience it as an issue if I abrubtly arch the back to a more straight stand or leaned back position, then the rubber sort of pushes against the tubes and pops one out once in a while, but I think part of that is also that the rubber seems much tighter to the figure body than the AVP version so that combined with a little looseness can causes an occassional mishap, but again, for me anyway, it's so minor an issue, both things, I don't even really notice it, just a fun, badass looking toy worth every penny.

King, nice shots, but it's interesting, you see the aliens in broad daylight and a lot of the scare is lost, really goes to show that while it's cool to see the details, Scott and Cameron's minimalism with light really defined the fear, not the creature design.

Got my Alien Warrior today and I will say that I am disappointed. The figure is alot more flimsy than the AVP alien. The feet are made from a very flexible rubber and the rest of the body feels like a rag doll. I wish the figure was constructed more solid like the AVP Alien. And some of the parts on the figure like the tail and hands are sticky for some weird reason.....anyways, it looks awesome but I'm not too excited about it anymore.

It's rather difficult to pose the Alien warriors entangled with one another to get a battle pose and not have it look like they're ****ing cuz there's no motion going to show the action. AWESOME Photos and this is an awesome figure!Just got mine today!

As an owner of the AvP Alien, you can really see in some aspects the improvements and advice Hot Toys took in.

The paint job is superb and it looks like Hot Toys really took in how lighting reflects on it (whether intentional or not) so it look identical to the Aliens in the actual film.

It also looks like Hot Toys took the advice about the rubber cracking and splitting at some points and sprayed some sort of preserve on it...which is great! Of course, it has made some of the parts have a "sticky" feel to them.
At least I hope thats what it is and I'm not the only one with the sticky Alien! Lemme know!

The double joints are awesome and increase the degree of motion you can move some of his limbs! I spotted the same "dumb-bell" joint piece that join his feet to his legs that has been used on the smaller ALIENS snap-kit drones.

Now, the only gripe would be...and this is no way Hot Toys' fault but just the way it goes because of the design for such a figure. The figure is obviously top heavy cause of his head and is "scrawnier" in design to his AvP cousin, so he has more of a tendency to fall over than the other one. The AvP design had a bigger, thicker tail and also larger feet to aid in the support of standing. Thankfully, I am sure that Hot Toys knows that and has a real tough, yet bendable, metal bar within the tail. The ALIENS Warrior also has those smaller feet...so getting him in a good standing position that he can retain can take a little working with.

Fantastic figure and once again, EXCELLENT WORK from the best 12'' figure company EVER!

Agree 100%.

I am having a much harder time getting this bad boy to hold poses like the AVP. And like Les mentioned earlier, his feet come of way to easily, unlike the AVP which never come off.

There seems to be a more "occward" feel to him. But overall he is freakin AWESOME!!!!

It's here! It's here!

For my standards, this was surprisingly quick!
Anyway, first impressions:
Yes, it is one menacing looking creature! The sculpt is brilliant (not accurate, but we've beaten that one to death) and captures the "alien-ness" that the A:R and AvP designs are missing. This one actually gets close to the bio-mechanical nightmare Giger designed and moves a bit away from the more animalistic look of later designs.
Fantastic poseability, the double jointed elbows and knees work wonderfully. Surprisingly enough, I've had no problem finding good poses for the warrior to stand unaided... not even using the tail as support. I've had more problems keeping the AvP warrior balanced. Obviously, I've only had a few minutes of "playtime", we'll see how things evolve.
Now to the less thrilling part.
I'm not quite sure yet that I like its looks better than the AvP's...
I guess it has a lot to do with the color scheme. Somehow HT managed a much better effect with the simpler color scheme of the AvP alien than with this one, IMHO. As it stands, this one will not go without a repaint along the lines of what Les did to his warrior, whereas the AvP alien looks perfect to me straight out of the box. I mean, I actually cringed when I saw the naked black plastic shine of the palms of the hands, it just looks very cheap.
I can't help but look over at the McF alien and wonder how they can achieve so much with so little.
Anyway, once it gets a little repaint, I'm sure this critter will expose its full potential!

Awesome figure, I can't wait to get back to it and play around some more! It's that kind of figure, it just begs to be posed.

EDIT: Alright, after some more quality time with my new alien buddy, I can attest to the coolness of this figure. Simply amazing!
One small detail in my figure, one of the foot pegs protrudes more from the socket in the leg, which irks me somewhat... but there seems to be no solution, as it does not seem to want to go further in.

One more observation:
The inner structure seems to be different this time around, the range of motion of the neck and chest/mid-riff areas seems to be less than on the AvP figure. Anybody else notice this?

FACEBOX
08-03-2007, 05:40 PM
The only problem I have with mine is the paint flaking off a little.
Other than that, I have no foot peg problem, no articulation irks...... nada.

I wasn't at home to sign for the 3 attempted fedx deliveries. So I went down Saturday to fedx and picked it up. Had to work so it waited to be opened. Got home, ate dinner, got comfy on the couch to enjoy opening the Alien...

Disappointment! the left knee joint and the right elbow were broken right in the package. The shipping and product box were not beat up at all so this came broken from the factory or I got someone else's return?
I've already submitted a return request.
I did go ahead and take it out to look it over. One foot was so loose that it would fall off just touching it.
Hopefully I'll have better luck with the replacement.
Seeing the flimsy joint construction in this figure has me a little concerned about the sturdiness of the powerloader. When the loaders come out who can take theirs apart and get each part cnc'ed in aluminum? I'm in for 1 :lol

You and I are in the same boat. Only the right elbow is broken on mine, and I've asked for replacement. Someone on the assembly line doesn't know his/her own strength when pushing the limbs together. It's silly that the soft joint cover actually disguised the fault and held the pieces together!:cuss

Disaster has struck!

I spent friday night with the kids at my mom's and only came back home last night. As I picked up my nearly untouched new Aliens warrior to show the kids how cool it could be posed the right knee simply fell off!
I didn't even try any outrageous pose... I only straightened out the knee and was left with the lower leg dangling in my hand!
This may sound ridiculous, but I was so upset even my kids were sad!

Now I'm wondering what I should do. Sending it back to Sideshow for a replacement all the way from Colombia will cost me an arm and a leg. Or should I just ask HT for a replacement part for the knee joint? It should be fairly easy to fix.

What do you guys think?

I'm really depressed. :crying

Well, it has been quite a week-end!
Got the HT warrior Friday.
Played a bit with it on Saturday night and ended up with one leg in my hand.
Was heart-broken for a night and a day, and took it Sunday night over to a freind's.
After two hours of intensive surgery, some tin plates and steel screws, and the judicious use of a dremel tool, the warrior's knee was once again functional!
It is not very strong, but with careful weight distribution, it manges to hold a pose.

I'll still write HT to see ask them for a replacement part.
I'll keep you guys posted on how it goes.

I'm wondering if there's a bad wave of these figures. I got mine through Toys2 and was one of the first on the boards here to get it and I haven't had any issues with breakage of flaking on my warrior and I put it through a great deal of posing for my photography sessions, as did edwint and he reported some flaking but I don't recall anything said about breakage of any kind. It seems like the negative reports didn't start coming in until, what seems to be, wave 2 started shipping out.

I got mine through Sideshow and he's fine! And I manuevered the joints to their extremes and their fine.

I just suggest being a little careful when first moving joints. With the summer heat and these figures, some of the plastic and rubber will "expand" so to speak and joints can initially be difficult to move. The joint can just be "locked" in and needs some slow coaxing to move properly.

It also looks like Hot Toys took the advice about the rubber cracking and splitting at some points and sprayed some sort of preserve on it...which is great! Of course, it has made some of the parts have a "sticky" feel to them.

Does anybody know what kind of rubber preservative spray this would be? I'd like to spray my Rocky and Rambos with some kind of preservative to protect them from deteriorating.

Thanks Sean, you've sure done more than enough with all your amazing imagery of the Warrior so take your time dude. I'm experiencing some serious Dad health issues as well, know what you're going through, hang in there kid. :D

Thanks Paul, and I hope things work out with your father too.

I see a lot of people speculating that the stickyness on the warrior is protective for the rubber, I'd be very curious to find out official word because I took it to be a means to simulate the slime effect that is trademark of the xenomorphs.

They are designed for preserving rubber. Really don't anticipate any problems and I'm only gonna use them after prolongued display, sun exposure to protect against drying and cracking.

If the fig doesn't need it I won't use them...

I was planning on painting them a metallic silver/gray to make it more accurate.
No idea if it'll fit in a Detolf because I don't have one yet.
The filters are about 12"x12" each. (3 in a set)

Steven

OK, here's what I learned for everyone in the last 48 hours (It's been busy here, so bear with me, but I have been ready to share this one as soon as I could login...)

My "loose" foot...and to some degree, Blaster's joint probs...

I sat here, dejected that others were getting Aliens with good feet (sorry about the bad knee abake) and thought...and thought....and then realized I had best closely inspect my Alien's ankle better, rather than just complain about it being loose.

Glad I did.

The inner joint was shattered. Yeah. That was the cause of the looseness, due to the fact that HT used hard clear plastic ball joint recepticles for the feet and hands. Inside each part, opposite the softer plastic ball, is a hard (translate that to BRITTLE) plastic joint part. And, it is glued well into the rubber appendage. If it breaks, as it did in mine's left foot, the peices stay in place, but flex, and don't hold well the ball. If they are broken and peices missing, not sure what to tell you.
With mine, I repaired it, and now I have a nice, tight holding ankle joint, for the moment.

What I did was put just a small amount of some regular superglue into the socket, so that it would swish around and get all the cracked parts well, then wiped it out, and sprayed my Insta-Set in. Once that set, I took some thicker superglue, Bondini, which is gummy enough to not flow everywhere, and put a nice rim around the top of the socket, set that, then test fitted the ball. I kept on adding layers of glue, on the outer rim only, and setting with insta until the ball was hard to push in, but held. It was some micro surgery, but it worked. I think it will hold now, as I coated the upper area pretty well. Not so much that it looks bad, but it took some doing.

I hope this helps someone. Try it. Just do NOT put much glue inside the socket or all bets are off! Be very careful. That's why I used thick glue, not the runny standard stuff. Only use that for the cracks to set them together some.

This is a really tricky problem. It's in a bad place, as there are minimal repairs for it. Other than replacing the parts outright, or getting some sockets...which I guess you could do, just replace all the ball sockets completely....but that is even more work. With all that soft rubber, just be careful.

Hope this info helps someone.

Ya, I might get my Hick's lamp done up. I'd also want to get a flashlight like he had when he exposed the crawlers, my dad sells for a company that does LEDs so maybe he'll get a sample piece that's close enough to a flashlight like that. As nice as the movie-simulating paint apps are, I think what is truly great about this figure is the head and the hard molded hands, with those fierce claws and the evil fury in the head design/sculpt, this thing just looks like a bad mother****er you don't want to run into and makes the AVP warrior look like his ***** haha. Ya, not to say people aren't careful with these figures, but I'm thinking part of why I've had success with my warrior is that I am super retentive about handling it with care, I've always been very protective of my toys as a child and collectibles as an adult, and at $150 each, I'm not looking to buy a second warrior unless it's to build a hive, not to replace, which I'm strongly considering, I think it'd be a nice display to have Hicks caught between two warriors ready to strike at him with him armed and ready to kick ass with no fear.

The sad thing is that with some of these figures, the parts are so delicate that you can jack stuff up even when you are being super careful.

Although with the Warrior, it sounds more like a failure with the product, rather than people man-handling their figures.

Agreed. Just be careful Paul, with folks putting your figures together and all. That stresses those brittle joints a bit. No need stressing them too much before you get them. Too bad a visual inspection isn't enough....

And MaulFan, I just thought of something, when you do get shoulderlamps all done up on your marines, and you get you a grid floor, and blue light it...and get those lamps on, add some smoke! Fog it up some. When you get it a bit fogged up, those shots are gonna ROCK!

Anyway, look forward to the new images.

Well, since I'm still living at home displaying with limited space and furniture, I'll not be having a setup as elaborate as Les discussed anytime soon, BUT I will some day, I have BIG plans for a personal museum of my things some day with each display being fitting for the subject, not for consitency between spots.

As for images, just because I don't have the actual materials doesn't stop me from making images with those elements. Once my life settles down a bit again, I full plan on doing more shots of the Warrior and more images that incorporate Hicks with it, and some of those action shots will utilize smoke and other elements, more photoshopped images instead of straight photography, get back to what's become my speciality, I've strayed from it trying to keep up with all the things I've gotten in the past year, but I intend to budget out my time and really roll out some nice stuff, I know some of you have thought well of some of my stuff I've done of late, but I know myself and I know I can do even better, and I intend to.

Just a quick update on something I think DekDave said when I first got my ALiens guy...I used a generic wooden stand, something from Walmart I think. Nothing special, except it held it well, but looked wrong with the other figures. I had trouble with the Hot Toys stands...making them hold this warrior as he is so damn tall and top heavy!

But...

Problem solved!:D
Use a Sideshow metal base grasper, not the Hot Toys one. The Hot Toys ones are not tall enough, and has just a 90 degree angled rings, and the Sideshow ones are much taller, and have an extra half inch offset at the bend, that allows for the Alien's back spines to fit in safely, and also allows for some placement.

Here is mine in a nice, Hot Toys ALIENS stand at last!

http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a10/angremien/AlienHTbase01.jpg

I had to bend the metal neck of the stand down some at the corner to the grasping segment, then back about a third of the way down the length, to allow the weight to be properly distributed over the smallish base. It takes some bending and testing to get it right, but once balanced, the HT base works like a dream, and sets it right in with Rip and the Marines. I will label him soon as

LV-426 - Extro-XENOMORPH
ALIEN WARRIOR

Hope this helps anyone else thinking of a base for their's.
