Good review and I like the Q&A a lot. Especially this line -
All the sculpts lost detail, some more than others and that really was a shock. We can now understand, to a certain point, when a company does a prototype and then when the production piece comes out, there is a huge difference.

I'm also encouraged that his answer imply that there will 40th Anniversary 1/6 Trek figures with a company Paramount has worked with before...

Great Review. I have those figures and couldn't agree more with your review. I would also like to see some of the other Irwin Allen stuff done.

I have seen these recently, in a couple of shops. I must say they are more impressive in person than the hideous pics I had seen. I was interested in buying them, but at equivalent of US$110, it's just out of the question.

Yes, it does help to explain some of the "loss of detail" questions so many people have asked about. Luckily their sculpts started off looking like the character in question and were still recognizable as such after production.

Thanks for your help to secure these figures, Ironman. I got a great deal on ebay for them and they arrived in less than a week.

I have only opened Zachary Smith at this stage, and although I'm a little disappointed, I am happy with my purchase of him.

The head scuplt and size is A OK, as is the outfit. The articulation is my point of concern. He stands no problem, but his shoulder and elbow joints are that loose that they just flop by his sides. I was pleased with his legs, having a ratchet feel to them, but they have a tendency to snap back, as does his waist. The hands are a little too large and plastic looking. That's it for the ^^^^^ing.

Your review is quite informative. The inner packaging forming a diorama is quite innovative. I don't know why they gave him a gun and holster, I dont remember him using one, or at least wearing one on his person. I hope they get to release Idak, B9 and Will at the very least. The addition of the Pod and Chariot will be most welcomed, if the price point isn't too high, but welcomed nonetheless. I wish Sci-fi Metropolis every success. They are making a collectible line with the accessory and play factors also in mind.

Glad I could help you out, Creecher. I'm sorry yours is "looser" than mine is. The hands are BBi G3 soft hands, my personal faves at the present time. The body itself was designed by BBi specificly for them. Hopefully its just a few bugs that need working out throuh the development of the body.
He didn't have a weapon in every episode and was more menacing with one in the earlier episodes but he did have one from time to time. I looked at it as: there wasn't much to give him and extra lasers are always wanted [by me anyway] :D

I'll be doing a "comparison" review between 3 of my sci-fi faves offerings and hope to get that posted this weekend as well as a review of the SDCC WW Oz and Hellboy w/horns.

Good o Ironman. And what are your fave sci fi figs?

Screamingmetal did a review of the Ultimate Hellboy. Apparently it has a soft head. Interesting. I'll be looking out for your opinions too.

Well, my favorite figures vary from my favorite lines. :p
Being a sci-fi fan for a long time the 3 licenses I am most happy to see figures coming out from are Planet of the Apes, Lost in Space and Battlestar Galactica.

I have adjusted my photostory plot to include them however, without the full casts [or at least the members I want] I can't complete those sections. :\

I saw these figures at SDCC and was more impressed in person than from the catalog photos. Smith and Dr. Robinson looked okay and Don had a larger head, but he seemed to be a prototype and the head should shrink in production. I just might have to get these.

Hows that special for The Lawgiver. Comes with a free Dr Zaius. I'm after a Lawgiver eventually, but already have the Zaius. Maybe if it came with Caesar, Gen Ursus or one of the Mutants I might bite.

Where is this photostory you mentioned? Maybe I'm prodding you too soon. I can wait. I'm sure you will let us know when it's ready.

The Keeper has much better joints, they still move loosely but hold their resting position. The neck is long, but you know what those giraffe neck Aliens can be like. :p It's not a problem with his high collar. Professor John is fine.

Dave, undoubtedly these are far better in person than in the original pix. If you're a sci-fi fan these really are "must have" figures in the collection.

There's a special?? How do I miss these things?? :doh
The photostory? It's not poste d yet because it isn't completed. Seems to keep getting farther from it. I can't resist adding in characters as I get them and then I have to go back to the "script stage" and rewrite things so that they'll fit in properly. I'm actually trying to settle on a "core" group for the main characters but want to have ALL my figures at least make a cameo appearance.

Thanks for that useful snippet of information Dave. If the Don is on show then the Idak will be too, soon.

The special was in the newsletter, Ironman. So you have a work in progress, huh? An artist is never satisfied, so at this stage, we have no hope of seeing your story ever played out. :p You teaser.

Well, never satisfied is a long time Creecher. I have actually started revamping the story to arc from opposite ends and hopefully end up where I want it to be. If I can get all the figures and sets assembled, I hope to be able to show at least part of it by early next year.
