I'm surprised no one's started a picture thread yet. Usually as soon as Sideshow sends out notices, someone jumps the gun.

Sorry to anyone who gets let down coming here finding nothing new, but when I saw this quote in another thread, it made me feel like being a wise ***, but everyone who knows my rep on these boards knows that when I get my Boushh I'll redeem my lack of pictures right now with my usual body of work.

Without doubt, you do give us some of the best pics. :rock

And I did laugh when I saw the title of this thread.

Thanks Batty, it's funny, I was thinking earlier about some Jabba photoshop stuff I worked on when I first got him and I had pre-planned some Boushh shots and figured I'd just have to wait a month or two more to work on those, glad I wasn't counting on that haha.

Just so we'll have an image in here:

http://www.sideshowtoy.com/mas_assets/jpg/2112_press02-001.jpg

I have to say, I share concerns with some over the production painting of the Leia head, but with there track record, I have no doubts on the Boussh helmet, and given the quality of clothing we've seen from LOTR and Star Wars of late, I'm sure the costume will be stellar.

I think ES and edwint may have a Leia Prod shot here...

And she looks great! Homerun.

That is probably production, the hair is definitely darker and the face is a lot lighter than the proto. The eyes and the paint around them is the most noticable difference.....I like it!

I aqree, the prod paint apps are better than the proto, esp around the eyes, not as dark, eyebrows not as thick.

This could be a first for SSC. :lol

If that's what we get, I'll lost my ****. That looks great, and the weathering actually looks as good as weathering buy a customizer. Granted, I know people were upset with Obi-Wan's beard and hair, but in my opinion, once again, a figure that went through a lot of retooling along the way is coming worth the wait.

I think that's production outfit even. Judging the photos, there's some heavy contrast and saturation going on so none of the colors are truly representing themselves accurrately and some of the dark areas are far darker than their true tones. An image with this going on would make subtle weather look as dramatic as it does in these photos, when I get my Boushh I'll demonstrate :)

Well, I hope so but I have my doubts, at least the belt wasn't weathered, that may be a clue the outfit wasn't either.

I really wish they could of used the detailed pants that were featured in the proto pics as well.

Not THAT big, Carrie's quite short and since most of us haven't seen it in person, there's no telling how small the new female body is, but to me, that picture makes Leia look small as she is.

Definitely not digging the fuzzy pants. Andy could have made a more attractive ear. Everything else looks pretty good. I wish the 'adapter' had been made more aesthetic looking (such as a mannequin head, ala Medicom), but I guess that's the best they could do. The details on the helmet look superb.

The pants are a nit pik. Pure and simple. I can't believe that, EVEN IN THE FRAKKIN NUDE, the head still looks pretty good (actually in proportion... a first for a Sideshow female). This is what should be garnering most of our attentions and criticisms.

Thank you Sideshow. :clap

I am not allowed to post pictures of nude women, but I can assuredly say the head is way too large unless she was born with hydrocephalus.

But I like focusing on the positive, such as the outstanding sculpted detail on the helmet and backpack.

Off topic, anyone notice how Ford looks slightly fatter in the Star Wars movies and skinnier in the Indy movies even though they were made around the same time period? I just notice how Ford got thin after ESB, 1980 for Raiders in 1981, and then started looking older in ROTJ, 1983, but then looked young again in Temple of Doom, 1984.

My apologies Pixle. My comment meant no offense. I just wish Sideshow would at least make female bodies as proportional as the male bodies are. Even the extremely malnourished couldn't have a waist that thin. The rib cage would get in the way, let alone the organs.

The head is WAAY to BIG. Maybe 20%-30% too large. The rest of the figure looks great, The head sculpt looks great, paint is great, proportions are poor.
I think the size issue will be less noticeable with the helmet head so I'll be displaying her that way until someone casts a shrunken down version.

I think she looks fine. Some of you folks are truly the half-empty variety. The head on a nude body looks a lot better than I had anticipated. Even figures as recent as the Sarah Connor look pretty terrible to me.

No but it makes the proportion issues very obvious in that pic. Even with the clothes on I thought it looked too large. I know Sideshow wants the heads in scale as they say in the new Ask Sideshow segment, but large heads have become far too common with their releases, it's far rarer that they get the head size right.

Pix I think you're correct. It really is kind of frustrating really. Reading some of the nit picks on this figure and especially the GTW PF on various boards. It is really mind boggling.

I will thank Sideshow for putting in the obvious effort to make their female figs more palatable to the human eye.

I've got the Pam figure from Friday the 13th but never taken it out of the box. So I don't know really how it will compare to the Pam figure. If it makes it a better figure then I'm all for it.

Its comments like that which make me wonder if they ever looked at the prototype pictures. Are we really seeing anything there, with the head, that wasn't on the proto? If not, why are some of you acting like this is the first time you have seen Leia?

MaulFan

The thing too is, we have no idea what size the body she's on is, we need to see her with an average Sideshow figure. To me, other than stripping her, which makes every figure look retarded no matter who makes it, she looks fine, I think both helmet and Leia head look great on the clothed body, the weathering looks fabulous and the paint apps are stellar, i'm getting really pumped about adding her, and another fabulous addition to the Jabba display, which already looks great and add this in the mix and it just keeps getting better and better.

I know this doesn't make any difference, but I had a 1/1 scale replica Boushh helmet at one time. Grant it , it was a fan made helmet, but it was pretty damn accurate and it was also pretty big. I think the helmet looks perfect, but the Leia head is kind of large. I will wait final judgement when I have it in my own hands.

I agree, the helmet is good proportioned. But the head, even if it had soft hair, could not fit in a helmet that size.

I know you guys might disagree, but I don't see myself as a 'glass is half empty' guy. I enjoy these figures as much as any Sideshow Freak. I talk about the flaws to let Sideshow know what I wish can be improved upon in the future, but I don't dwell on them. If something really bothers me, I either won't purchase the item or I will fix it myself.

For instance, I no longer complain about paint jobs or bodies. I could even make new clothes if I really wanted to. Now, creating shrunken casts is out of my league, but that's what we have Darren for. *Hint, hint* You'll figure that out for us, right Darren? ;)

Best figure SS has put out since Maul IMO, cool!

Well that's an interesting point for sure.

Darth Maul
Bib Fortuna
Salacious Crumb
Jabba the Hutt
Endor Troops
Yavin Luke
Leia Boushh

Now, that's going by figures that are out and in hands. In my opinion, Jabba is hands down the best thing since Maul, yet not a true "figure", and there have only been a small handful of figures since Maul. Bib, while minimal in appearance, was a very well made piece, equal to Boushh. Luke was, well we won't open that, and the Troops were well made but not the most popular character choice.

Regardless of measuring Boushh against the others, it looks fantastic, and in my opinion, is equal to or in areas, better than the proto.

Yep, I only wish all of SSC production pieces were as close to the proto as Boushh looks to be. Although I've only really been disappointed in a few proto to production pieces in the SW line.

Well I'll agree, I was mainly actually trying to point out that it's also a slim list of what we've got since Maul and is truly a figure, know what I mean, Salacious and Jabba are really creatures with no articulation, so that leaves Bib, the troops and Yavin Luke.

Well made ya, I guess it's the lack of development/involvement of the characters, where Obi-Wan and Luke really run with me, and Maul caught me the minute I saw the character, and Boushh has ties to old Kenner for me, plus a love of Jabba's palace and the design of the suit. Plo and Bib would be on second tier of impressive figures with me.

AMAZING
Darth Maul
ROTS Obi-Wan
Jedi Luke
Leia as Boushh
Jabba the Hutt
Salacious Creature Pack
Darth Sidious and Mechno Chair

IMPRESSIVE
Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader
Mace Windu
Qui-Gon Jinn

Plo Koon

Bib Fortuna

WELL MADE
Bespin Han Solo
Yavin Luke Skywalker

There's a lot of good stuff about Anakin, but the lips and means of his arm connecting drop it a bit for me, mainly the arm, between the unposable gloved wrist and the pin not staying in well without excessive gentle handling makes leaves a bit of "if only.." in me.

The Josh

I would agree on the lips. The arm mine is tight as a drum but I do know some did have issues with it.

Like your list and category names...the only things I'd change if I listed 'em is dropping Jedi Luke and Sid/Holochair down to "Impressive" and bumping "Sith Apprentice Darth Vader" up to "Amazing".

Jedi Luke does have the novelty of being first out of the gate, but that slightly dazed expression limits the angles in which he displays well (IMHO) and the Sid/Holo piece is interesting, but like the forthcoming chess table, it's more of an impressive set piece than a figure.

The Sith Apprentice Vader gets a bump up from me because I found it to be such an improvement over the initial Anakin release. The arm was better, the paint app was better and I really appreciate the great detail of the jedi outfit, the gear and the robotic arm. Add to that the really cool stand and he sails to "Amazing" for me....

It's all a matter of taste of course...:)
And judging from the advance pics we're seeing, Leia/Boussh is going to take her rightful place in the "Amazing" category....

Well, I consider Holo Sidious like the Salacious pack and Jabba, while not "action" figures, they are beautifully crafted and executed representations of the film material, whereas I would consider the chess table to be like Jabba's throne, just a much smaller environmental piece, same with the probes, they're more an environmental addition than a standalone item.

I don't think it's so much the size of the helmet throwing off the holding pose, as it is that the film helmet, it was leather or something for the tan part, so it could cave in when held and only the top part was really solid, where the figure is all solid so it doesn't behave like it should to be held.

If that is the real costume, then Sideshow made both the head and helmet too big. I thought the use of an adapter would keep the helmet size proportional, but I guess not this time. It's still a good looking figure.

Her head is enormous but I thought the helmet was atleast in proportion. It did on the prototype, but I can't tell from these pictures. Wasn't the proto on the normal body? This is the short body isn't it? Too bad.
Why can they get head proportions right for their LotR line and some of their other lines, but not Star Wars? Making it so it doesn't look so small in robes is BS. I don't think people's heads are supposed to grow 2x the size when wearing multiple layers. Sideshow is the only one I've seen who does this. It looks like Leia could topple over any second in those pictures with that huge melon on her shoulders.

Sideshow calls it a pre-authorization. Although I have never asked...I have always presumed it to be them verifying ahead of time that the funds are in the bank. It is sort of a reservation of the funds. I have had other companies do that as well, but I don't remember which ones. Just one or two others in a long line of companies I have dealt with.

My bank will pay out the money and charge me an extra 30.00 if I do not have the funds in my account. I have recently started to wonder if that is not some way of making sure that does not happen.

But that is theory on my part.

Edit - I have actually had it happen that the withdrawl from my account came a few hours after I recieved the figure.

Well, being that I finally decided to make my own Vader and spent quite a few bucks tracking down a Screamin' kit , Terminator body and so many other parts and all the time and money that I have invested into this project, it only makes sense that a Vader will be announced this year! :lol Not that I would be too upset mind you....

Boushh is a great figure. Well worth the long wait. I'm liking the blaster alot more then I thought I would, but I probably wont pose her with it. My only real complaint is the backpack. It goes onto a very short peg and wont stay on very well at all. May have to use some glue. Other then that I can't wait to add her to the Jabba setup.

PS- No holster for the pistol.

Way to go harp, these pics are great, no head/helmet disproportion I can see, In fact that is the first pic that shows the helmet pretty much in proportion... and the pants issue looks futzable... :D

Looks like, altogether, this Leia will blow the Princess fig away...

She came out very nice from what I can see in the pics. The weathering looks to be very realistic and will give it that added boost when on display.

Honestly, there wasn't too much of a Chicken Little situation with this figure. Yeah, a few comments here and there about bobblehead syndrome, which I'm starting to think is either minimal or was a distortion of the camera lens.

I really may have to pick this one up after all. It's going to be a busy month with Sidious and Ventress in the mix as well.

As a lover of accessories...this figure is as good as any. Lots of weapons (3), an opening pouch on her belt, 6 cannisters that are removeable from her belt, 5 cylinders that are removeable from her shoulder strap, her helmet and her back pack. And speaking of the back pack...it does go on very well...but should not be removed once it is put on. It will go on nicely, but there is a slight hump in the peg it needs to be slid over. I was concerned about breaking the plate on the back pack but I twisted it slowly while adding VERY LTTLE pressure and it went over the hump and stays very well.

Edit - Man! I am totally cool with this figure! Leia Boushh has completely brought my faith back around from the Faramir face paint disaster.

Edit2 - This macro shows the imperfecions of the paint app...but to look at it normally, they are not noticeable. She looks great!

Edit3 - I am not sure if anyone knows this, but the big plug that is used with Leia's Helmet gets removed to put her head on.

I was going to post more pictures, but the boss just walked in and he probably wants me to work instead of posing and snapping portraits of my new dollie ;)

But I will say this: the only Sideshow Star Wars 1/6th scale figure I own which has a better paint job than this one is my Episode III Obi Wan. And before I lose what little credibility I have, let me mention that my Episode III Obi Wan was repainted by Customikey!

Would I have liked to receive this figure sooner than I did? Absolutely. But if it took this long to make it this perfect, then so be it!

Getting this figure now only makes me more excited to see what Sideshow's got for us at Comic Con this year. They just raised their own bar and the next figure I get is gonna have a LOT to live up to!

IMO, the Episode III Obi-Wan paint job is pretty dang good. Not quite movie accurate, but it looks good enough on its own. And I have to say Leia Boushh's paint deco is looking just as amazing. It looks so much like Carrie Fisher that it's scary. Just as cool as GG's Slave Leia.

Wow these pictures look amazing, and as we all know the figures look even better in person. SS cant get this across the pond to me soon enough. Looks like a major home run.
The head and helmet sizes look pretty much in proportion so thats my main concern answered. My other was the material for the pants, which still doesnt look as good as the proto, but those who have it dont seem to think its an issue so thats good enough for me. If the pants are the only gripe with this figure I'm more than happy.
For those who have it in person, are the armour peices and helmet well made...... does it look like SS could very soon crank out a Boba or Vader??
Looks like SS is back on the money....... cant wait to see what they have up their sleeves at SDCC.

Here is a shot of the helmet, plug, and head the plug and head have the same sculpted hole for the peg in the neck.

And I also want to say...the articulation on this figure works a lot better than that of the other figures. I am stripping her tonight to see what the difference besides the neck post is.

MaulFan

Does the neck joint actually have articulation? One thing I dislike about Sarah Connor, and what seems to be most of the female figures in the past, is female heads only have a rotating neck joint, not a ball joint type articulation, but the separated image looks to have a range of movement worked in.

Darth Cruel

Thanks Cruel and DH. That was exactly what I was wondering was what was beneath the peg... Interesting. How snug do they fit on to the neck peg?

I will pic this in a minute...but the peg slips into the helmet and then into a ring molded inside the helmet. The big grove you see in the plug is one of 2 that are different sized so that we plug it in correctly. Very snug to keep it displayed correctly on the figure...Sideshow did good...real real good.

I little tutorial:

The inner ring you see protrudes more than the rest of the...ummm...whatayacallit. The plug slips over that ring and it acts in conjunction with the double tab in the back and the single tab in the front to giude the plug in to place. The outer ring goes on the outside of the plug and the whole thing works very well to hold the head on. The evenly spaced tabs between the 2 rings are recessed and have no purpose for our purpose except to stop the plug from going in too far. very nicely done.

Pose it with Leia. It's too nice of a portrait to keep hidden. Plus, you get it both ways with this approach because she can always be carrying the helmet.

So I should have her by middle of next week. Can't wait to review her!!

Then Holographic Sidious.

Then Asajj Ventress Exclusive...

God bless her, my wife hasn't killed me...especially since next week is her birthday and I'm buying all this stuff!!!
