OK, I have given in timewise on the poll, and taken Galactiboy's condensed list as reasonable, as we need to move on soon, and get with the theme. So, out of these,

ZOMBIES
BARBARIANS
APOCALYPTIC CHARACTERS
BOUNTY HUNTERS
ALIEN BEING/SPACE ALIEN
DOUBLE SETS (2 figures)

We have a poll!

Please vote! If you are gonna be involved and make a figure or figures, vote. If you are only a bystander with no aspirations of making a figure, vote. If you aren't even interested, pick one!

Help us resolve this soon, so we can get underway!

This poll will only be open until Sunday July 15th! Get to it gang :D!

I am a sucker for Apocolypce themed stuff. My number 2 vote would have been barbarians.

I votedAliens! I really like the possibilities of that catergory, and would be abxious to see if anyone does Pulp 1950s Aliens like the original Mars Attacks.

I'm open to anything though at this point, and find theses collaborations to inspiring, I might've never tackled Leia had it not been for the female challenge. Not sure which pair I'd do if "Duos" wins out, but that's half the fun!!!

I'm a zombie guy but will be happy with whatever wins.

Even though I added Aliens to the mix, I still went with Zombies... what can I say I like dead things.

Hmmm... that sounded odd :monkey3

I dont understand fully exactly what apocalyptic characters are, mind explaining anyone?:monkey1

Characters like Mad Max or Fist of the North star... you know people in biker gear with football pads and hockey masks. Or maybe super-survivalists decked out in ratty military gear.

lol thank you, that clears things up nicely

I voted Space Aliens. That seems to give the widest possible scope, and imaginative input/output. Anything and everything is alien, from human/humanoid to androids and robots, to mean and ugly critters, to clumps of fur. It's endless.

I voted zombies

If its zombies you can do a Apes of the Dead

I went for bounty hunter but zombies and barberians both sound like i could have good fun with those.

Yeah man, a zombie POTA figure would be awesome! Lot of great possibilities.

EDIT: Well, Galactiboy beat me to it, but I had the right idea!

I'm assuming that would include characters like Mad Max/The Road Warrior, The Omega Man... heroes, and/or saviors of the human race, survivors of catastophe, etc. (Would Zardoz qualify? Don't know, but he'd make an interesting custom fig anyhow). The possibilities from movies alone are practically endless!!! As much as I love the other categories, this one gets my vote.

If I had the skills, I'd like make this guy...

Or any from the Fallout games.

I'm going to work on a zombie for Halloween and voted for apocalyptic characters.

I would really like to try and make a Post-apocalypse Michael Gross sculpt from Tremors.

You know, the more I think about it, Zombies and Zombie stories are all kind of Apocalyptic....Especially since the next Resident Evil flick is due to have some Road Warrior-esqe aspects about it...

So, is it gonna be a runoff, or you guys reckon we combine the two for a super Challenge? Any thoughts?
Is it gonna be an either/or or a combo?

I admit, I like the angle of both.

Mudshark

Two for one sounds more interesting, imho. Those were good points you made, Les. I had been thinking along the same lines. Any post-apocalyptic theme could certainly have some undead worked into it. Including both categories would really open up the options in terms of creative possibilities. I may end up just being an observer this go around, but I really like the super Challenge idea.

Great idea Les! Maybe we should do interactive figures like the zombies and the apocalyptic warriors who kill them.

Definitely Zombies....

Could this be the first ever APOCALYPTIC ZOMBIES SUPERCHALLENGE!?!?!?
:D

This is gonna be intense, whatever it turns out to be! :lol

I can hear Bela Lugosi...."ZOMBIES!" :D

Hell may be unleashed this go round! Hope we can give it enough time, whatever it is....

I've got a post apocalyptic figure in mind, but haven't a CLUE where I'm gonna find that looks like the actor. I suppose that's part of the fun though.

Mudshark

After thinking about Les' suggestion overnight I started having lots of ideas for apocalyptic heroes as zombies, sort of "game over" scenarios where the hero failed and ended up becoming one of the undead. Loads of possibilities there, but many would pose a real challenge to actually build!

Xander

I'd love to see some Resident Evil stuff. Films or games, doesn't matter. Alice or Jill (:monkey5 Jill) or even Leon or Hunk!

Mudshark
07-14-2007, 02:06 AM
Res Evil was definitely on my mind too. I really enjoyed the movies, but as a deranged fan of the original Playstation series, I think a game version Jill, Claire, or Ada zombie would make extremely sick custom figures. So would Chris or Leon, of course. The ultimate Resident Evil (Biohazard) "game over" collection. Another fine product brought to you by the Umbrella Corporation! :D

Hmmmmmmmm....Well I'm going out on a limb and guessing that Zombies (and the people that kill them!) is gonna take the cake. I've got a pretty good idea of who/what I wanna do.

Now do we decide the timeframe???

figuremasterles
07-15-2007, 06:53 PM
Yeah, I think we can about call it for ZOMBIES!

I still say, Halloween. I know I can't get one done before that, not with all I have going on, but if you guys really want it to end sooner, that is cool.

Halloween will be easier to remember for a Zombie challenge.

And, if your Zombie(s) have a slight Apocalyptic element to them, so much the better! :D
And by the way, I think the sky's the limit on this category too. ANYTHING, can be a Zombie.

I don't know if we need to waste time with another poll or not, but I vote, Halloween.
You guys decide it though. I'll support whatever.

The poll should close by tomorrow if it hasn't already.

Aww, I was hoping for anything but zombies. I love zombie flicks as much as the next guy, but it just seems like I've been seeing quite a few lately. Anyway, I'm looking forward to what you guys come up with!

Edit: How about opening up the "Zombie" theme, to "Undead" ;)

After much consideration I agree with Halloween, Les. Maybe we should start an official countdown thread with a sticky to keep peoples minds on it.

Agreed.

I'm really looking forward to Deadfest '07! Can't to see who's on board!:D

figuremasterles
07-18-2007, 12:14 PM
I like the sound of DEADFEST '07.
It's still the 2nd Custom Challenge, don't want to lose track of that angle, but I think Deadfest names it well. Good call Xander!

And Doctor T, it's now DEADFEST, so I think Undead shoehorns in nicely. Zombies can be smart, or evil characters....or just... dead....so go for it! I think with a Halloween deadline, it will work.

I don't want to litter up the area with sticky threads that aren't pertinent, especially when we will need the image and response threads stickied come time...so I am counting on some member support and posts, even if just some bumps, to keep the development thread afloat.

This one is pretty much done. I will mention the closed poll, and the due date in the first post I do. Keep it going after that guys, and it will stay fresh! :D

Until Halloween! :rock

Oh, and that is the deadline! No week long posting, Just HALLOWEEN! All day!
Responses ad-infinitum....but one day for this one to close. I mean, it's not like we don't have more time to get a figure done and posted then.
That sound Cool? :D
