That's AWESOME!!! I hated the movie but Cain will look awesome especially if he is to scale with ED-209. And if the rumor is true about Clarence Boddicker and gang, the Robo license suddely just got a whole lot bigger ala Aliens!

i just read about that too! pretty cool news...

still thought his feet were a bit too short, but am looking forward to seeing production pics of this one...

as a robocop junkie, i probably will end up picking up this one.

This will be a pass, just because the movie was so assy! Too bad, because he'll probably be a sweet looking figure.

Hey Dave, whats this news about the Boddicker Gang? I haven't heard anything but I'd choke out a hooker for a Clarence :monkey3

dekadentdave
07-09-2007, 10:28 PM
It said that they have discussed it with Howard Chen but nothing has been decided yet but at least it is being considered. I mean, if they can do Prison Break figures why not Boddicker, Emil, Leon and maybe Bob Morton? I'd also love to see Officer Alex Murphy in riot gear along with Officer Lewis.

Here's something I posted back in February this year about Cain... got mixed responses, and finally the impression that HT wouldn't attempt it because it was far too complex... HA! So much for the nay-sayers! The movie was a cluster-fork, but Cain would really make a bada$$ figure and a perfect adversary for all the Robocop figures out there. Hey, I'd buy one for a dollar! For laughs, here's my old post again...

(Old thread) Hot Toys: ROBOCOP 2 - Where is CAIN??!!

Hot Toys has really been living up to their name with all the amazing stuff they have been doing lately. So far there are 3 different versions of Robocop and a new exclusive battle-damaged version of ED-209 is on its way. But how long will it be before they make CAIN, the cyborg/killer robot from Robocop 2? With the recent announcement of the Aliens Power Loader, it seems nothing is out of the realm of possibility with them these days. I believe it's only a matter of time, 'cause I know they'd be a huge hit with Asian collectors, and they'd probably have no trouble at all selling them overseas, as well. If anyone else has any comments or ideas to share regarding CAIN, let's hear 'em!

I've said it before and I'll say it again... Hot Toys: :rock:rock:rock:rock:rock:rock!!!

That's good news indeed. And unexpected, since I remember reading here somewhere that a 12" Cain robot would be to complicated to make? The design of the Cain robot was not a full hit IMO, and RoboCop2 was not as good as the first film, but since I'm a robot fan, I just have to have this Cain robot.

I re-watched the movie last night, and it appears RoboCain's height would be comparable to the Aliens power loader (so in scale, that's... roughly 16"?). I hope HT makes sure the legs could support the figure, as the design is extremely top heavy.

OH cool this great news, I always thought the cain robot was Cool as hell.
Awhile back I bought a CAIN robot Resin kit, but never put it together. WHen I first open the box it and saw all those peices, I was like man this outa my skill level. Now I wont have to build it. Plus the Hot Toys will be in scale with the HT RObo

Mudshark
07-13-2007, 09:20 AM
You must be talking about the Japanese 1:12 scale kit by Argonauts, right? It was a combination of PVC, resin and white metal castings. Detailed as hell, but definitely a challenge to build, especially since there were certain issues that had to be dealt with to make it right. I remember wishing they had made it in a larger scale. I never dared to hope for a monstrosity in 1:6 scale, but we already know HT is into making dreams come true these days. Can't wait to see some pics of the prototype.

Btw, do you still have the unbuilt kit? If you're willing to part with it, let me know! :D

Hey Mudshark,
Yeah thats it however it didnt have vinyl parts. As for parting with, not sure of letting it go, I kinda think I paid way too much for it, especially now that you told me some peices should of been vinyl, I think I must of got a recast then. And casting of small parts are bad so there is a lot of clean up work. I would hate to pass this on to anybody.

Thanks for getting back to me about it, anyway. It does sound like you may have got a recast, sorry to hear you didn't get an original. I do recall the main body was vinyl and in two halves, and it was a ^^^^^^ to assemble! The head was also vinyl. There were LOTS of parts and it was a LOT of work putting it together, especially without an instruction sheet! It turned out to be a very nice little Cain model, but it was really an awful lot of work!

Hopefully by this time next year HT will release the ultimate version of CAIN, with working parts and all! I've been wanting this to happen for so long... it's almost too good to be true!

G'day all

Searching the net I came across these pics from ToysDaily.

Is this possibly the Hot Toys Cain ? It appears to be highly detailed and high quality, is it too good to be a 1/6 figure? Perhaps it is a movie prop.

What do you guys think, anybody else seen this before or know any other information about these pics?

You obviously know more about this figure than we do, how about you fill us in on it. After all, that is the point of these forums, a place to share and discuss new information.

If this is a custom, then wow! I hope that someone in Hot Toys has seen this and takes inspiration from it. If the Hot Toys Cain turned out to be half as good as this, then I would be very happy with it as part of my collection.

Here's hoping.

Clarence Boddocker

BD Robocop
Cain

Robocain would be cool but I want some human figures from the first 2 movies!

Mudshark
02-23-2008, 09:56 AM
The only human characters I'd probably actually buy would be Murphy and Lewis. Robocain was a weird and creepy looking mech design and would make an interesting addition to the Robos and ED209s already done. It might prove to be too much trouble and expense to make a figure that complex in 1/6 scale, but I don't believe it's beyond Hot Toys' capabilities.

The Mcfarlane 12" Robo was done very well. It's almost competitive to the Hot Toys one. But HT takes it with that awesome paint application, better detail and working thigh holster. :D

I wouldn't say confirmed. They've been waiting to hear from HT about it for ages now. There was info leaked about it in the beginning of 2007. Someone asked about it again early 08 and HT said they had won too many licenses and basically had to push this project back. If anyone could confirm this or have inside sources from HT it would be greatly appreciated.

This is a def must have that I wouldn't mind dropping $350 for. That and Alien Queen and P1 Pred are must haves.

Read the first post. ;)

It's confirmed by Hot Toys themselves that they are currently making a prototype Cain.

Hot Toys has let us know that they indeed have the license to make a RoboCain figure and that they are currently busy with making a prototype. Via a phone conversation with HOT TOYS they also say that we can expect an update on their site by the end of this year.

The scale will be 1:6 and release date for the figure is sometime in 2008.

BTW, there might also be a chance for a Clarence Boddicker gang by HOT TOYS, but that is yet no certain. They have to discuss it further with the president of Hot Toys.

I believe that release date has been heavily postponed but Hot Toys has a habit of not leaking secrets and all of a sudden items are being sold and pre-orders are being set. Anyone getting the Hot Toys Dark Knight Two Face? He came outta nowhere. But I hope to see a HT Robocain by the end of next year. Pllleeeaaassee Hot Toys!!! That and P1 Pred and Alien Queen. Again...

I hope it looks this good. If it does they can have my money, and my virginity.

Yea I saw that photo before and really wasn't sure if it was the prototype or something they used in the movie. If that's the prototype of the final outcome, I'm going to the blood and sperm bank to sell some stuff so I can save up for the coming of this bad boy.

I think it's been psoted before that it's one of the models used for the film.

Still, I think HT could do a damn sharp one and hope this project is just delayed, not cancelled :)

My guess would be around the $200 mark. I don't think i'd want a Cain myself cuz then i'd have to pay stupid money for an ED-209 BUT Boddicker and his gang sounds amazing right now!

this is magical IF true.

and what's with you turds bashing the movie?
you're gonna sit there with a straight face and say the guy who directed Empire Strikes Back and the guy who wrote/created Sin City made a bad movie?
did you see Robocop 3? you can't see the difference there?

oh, i get it... "duuuh! it's not the original so it sux!!"

also, if they're still doing Robocop stuff, i want his maintenance chair thing.
and Boddicker is a cool character, but would be a boring figure. think about it.

Well look at it this way - people accuse those of us who hate the star wars prequels of wearing rose-tinted glasses when it comes to the originals - that we were kids when we first saw them and its simply encoded into us to love them over anything that has been made since. Theres a possibility this is true. However - even as a child I thought Robocop 2 was crap. My opinion hasn't changed now I'm an adult. It has good moments - and the final fight between Kain and Robocop is excellent - but overall it just never worked for me. Too much focus on the farcical aspects of the first film (the malfunctioning cyborgs audition scene), an inferior score, embarrassing Robo-moments like the etiquette stuff when he gets reprogrammed. I've tried to like it - just can't. Robocop 3 is worse but IMO not by a huge amount.

I have to say that I like Robocop 2 nearly as much as the original, but I can see why most people would not agree with me,
oh well, at least I'm happy

see, that just sounds like you don't have a sense of humor. it's a comedy. lighten up.
none of that is about the quality of the movie, though. 3 is an actual, honest to goodness, bad movie. 2 isn't.
2 has all of Verhoven's infamous biting social commentary, plus Kershner's vibrant imagery AND Miller's twisted sense of humor. i can't think of a better combination.
anyway, i'll agree to disagree.

that's very diplomatic of you, but doesn't contribute anything to the discussion.

Sounds like you need to lighten up yourself pal:monkey1
We all have our opinions on this board dont think you need to get excited if yours is clearly in the minority! Robo2 was a shadow of the original FACT

Well, now that HT has announced the Iron Man MARK I and it looks as though the giant IRON MONGER is close behind, could we finally see an incredibly intense replica of RoboCain soon too? Looks like HT has perfected the tooling to do so...and potentially with LIGHTS too (like the Iron Man series, Aliens Power-Loader and ALIEN spacesuits...)

Let's keep our fingers crossed. While I'm in for all 4 incarnations of Iron Man figures, I'd be even MORE in for CAIN! :rock

Haven't they left it too late to do Cain? The rest of the Robo line was ages ago. Robocops probably due for a resculpt by now!

Hell yes! bring on the Robocop 1 battle-damage version! :D

Until we hear something new from Sideshow on Cain, I'm not sure we'll see him. The Robocop line has been quiet for awhile, and HT themselves have admitted this project is currently backburnered.

Once we get some genuine 'new' news, I'll get excited again! :D

I'd be equally as doubtful about a 1/6th queen alien only for the fact that they're technically still making Alien figures - just from Alien and Alien3 rather than Aliens at the moment. Can't help but think the longer they leave these things the less likely they are to get made. Thats stating the obvious in a way but whats the likelihood of them making a Cain now when there isn't the context of any other Robocop figure to go with it.

i'm guessing it's just a luxury of specializing in "high-end" figures.
there's no reason to get rid of licenses, so you can make who you want, when it's convenient.
because demand is pretty much consistent (i've wanted a Cain figure since i was like 10) and you can goddamn afford to do it.
it's a great situation all around. Hot Toys for obvious reasons (their profit margin is through the roof on those things), and fans because, well, we get Cain.
