Asmus Toys killed it with their Gimli figure earlier this winter. Can they keep it rolling with the new young Bilbo Baggins from the Hobbit? I'm checking him out tonight right here:

or you can find the review at the usual:

Thanks for reading!

Solid review and great pics as usual! :clap

Good point about the ring - I dropped the ring hand when unpacking mine and the ring came off! :lol Took ages but I managed to find it!

LOL I won't waste breath arguing about LOTR:cool: *cough* Faramir *cough* among other things *no Glorfindel* but always enjoy your reviews. For me not having an ankle joint is a plus for my displays with this character. The other stuff you mention doesn't bother me - for me it would've been better to all have curly rooted-hair hobbits, but I see the potential issues there in mass production. In hand with the jacket and pack on I'm not seeing the head issue as it gets balanced out in the shoulders.

But I'm pretty biased 'coz I love this fig (and this year's Thorin and Gimli as well). Plus they aren't $300:horror etc. To me ASMUS has been up and coming and this year did a remarkable job with sculpts and bodies + their stellar costume work. Nice paint too. I'd read about the "Frodo thing" and IMO ASMUS should re-do Legolas...so there've been some bumps along the way.

Always room for improvement but I was a lot happier with ASMUS this year than Hot Toys!

Great review, as always.

The scale of the head really bugs me in photos of this figure, but it doesn't bother me at all on my shelf, for some reason. My only nit with the figure was the lack of a walking stick accessory. But I bashed one together and he looks great posed leaning on it. I think there's a lot of character in that portrait.

Yep, this figure looks fantastic in-hand. It's a great sculpt. I wish he had the walking stick accessory too especially after seeing a pic in the figure thread which looked absolutely awesome (I'm on the lookout for something to use!!) but even without it, it's still a cracking figure :)
