View Full Version : Gene Simmons & Sideshow

08-08-2005, 11:48 AM
well anyone who knows anything about Gene Simmons is awarethat he's not one to have the KISS empire left behind on anything that may possibly make him a penny or 2 or even 1 peso.

That being said and knowing SS is probably one of the hottest manufacturers on the market coupled Gene's mug gracing the SS booth at the SDCC, what are the odds there will be SS KISS figures sometime in the next year?
Im betting the whole pot on this one. Gene always wants the best of everything (sans that last solo CD) and there's nobody out there making higher quality products than SS.

The following quote from the money God himself adds fuel to this fire also:
"Besides the TV stuff, there are amazing new toy opportunities just over the horizon. Have already met with the principals and the lawyers are on it, working out the legalese." - G.Simmons

:rock I'm a HUGE Kiss fan, so 12" figures are diffentely welcome from Sideshow. Even if its just Gene I'd be happy. Perhaps a "God of Thunder" bloody variant as a site exclusive? I hope the figures would be in full Kiss armor.

Keep in mine that McFarlane did a 12 inch Demon Figure, and more than likely will continue with the license...

12" KISS figures from Sideshow would be so awesome! I would be all over them!

08-08-2005, 12:40 PM
I guess it depends on how the license is worded, a mixed media 12" or 1/4 scale wouldn't necessarily conflict with what McF is doing/has done.

I might buy 12" KISS figures even though I'm not a big fan, but this license seems a little...I don't know, too small...for SSC now.

Sure they'll take on stuff that isn't as huge as Star Wars, but I kind of get the feeling that their foray into music was Spinal Tap which didn't do so well.

But hey - you never know...

Well, if they go into music figures more, then I want my Jim Morrison with trippy mushrooms and rainbows...

08-08-2005, 01:50 PM
I'm not a a big fan of their music, but I might be interested in some 1/6 figures if they are done well enough.

08-08-2005, 02:22 PM
Kiss rules, but I would rather have an Axl Rose or Lemmy figure! They should just make a rock star line.

There have also been some HUGE figures as well, approx 1/3. I can't remember who made them. They were available at Spencers, natch'.

08-08-2005, 04:17 PM
I've got a set of those HUGE figures (the Destroyer costumes). They were like $250 each. Mine are in storage now so I can't see who made them. They do have more articulation than Sideshow's 1/3 or 1/4 figures :p

08-08-2005, 04:19 PM
Those were by Art Asylum. I had a couple and they were pretty nice. Kind of a pre-cursor to SSC's PF figure I guess.

here's an auction for the Love Gun set...

Love Gun (http://cgi.ebay.com/KISS-LOVE-GUN-24-FIGURE-COLLECTION-LTD-EDITION_W0QQitemZ5991072204QQcategoryZ16466QQssPag eNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

I'd bet if SSC does this license it would be PF.

08-08-2005, 04:19 PM
To tell you the truth I would rather see the SS talents on other things than Kiss figures BUT thats me.

08-08-2005, 04:24 PM
I saw Gene at the Con doing an apperance for Hot Wheels. He's freaking tall, and that wife/GF of his looks nasty. No offence to trailer whores/Courtny Love out there but he could do alot better. :lol

08-08-2005, 05:15 PM
I hope Sideshow makes KISS figures. Id buy every one of them. Both site Exclusives & regular editions.

08-08-2005, 05:35 PM
Bahh rather have Slayer figures than Kiss, now those would kill.:lol

But again would rather see the figs from Buffy that everybody wants made.

08-08-2005, 06:39 PM
I'm a huge KISS fan but hasn't Gene and Paul milked the KISS franchise to death. JEESHHH!!:rolleyes

I'd rather have a new non-make-up KISS album with Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer. Revenge 2!!!:rock :rock :rock

08-09-2005, 02:43 AM
What!? You don't want an Ace Frehley without makeup? :sick

08-09-2005, 07:57 AM
Ace Frehley

08-09-2005, 12:37 PM
Hah! This is so funny,I remember a few years ago Gene was marketing actual Kiss coffins....he'll take your money all the way to the grave!!!:p

08-09-2005, 12:53 PM
Sorry Viking, no Slayer 12" figures until we have some Metallica 12"ers! :rock

08-09-2005, 02:05 PM
If were talking original members of Metallica that would be cool.

08-09-2005, 03:29 PM
Gene Simmons is gross. This might sound weird, but a Lenny Kraviitz figure from his "Are You Gonna Go My Way" video would be cool. I've always loved that video...

Hah! This is so funny,I remember a few years ago Gene was marketing actual Kiss coffins....he'll take your money all the way to the grave!!!

Mr. Dimebag himself was buried in one of those KISS coffin. RIP :rock

PS: how about a filthy rich Metallica counselor figure :lol
man oh man I hope those guys go back to playing Metallica music rather than trying to fit in with the 'new sound' again.

08-10-2005, 05:21 AM
I don't know, I'd sure like to see good 1:6 versions of
Alice Cooper
Rob Zombie
Marilyn Manson
"Eddie" from Iron Maiden
of course I think Sideshow would need to create appropriate bodies for them to look "right"

08-10-2005, 05:55 AM
I'd love to see Cooper and Ozzy too, good call. :rock

I know some of these are cliche', but I'd love to see:

1. Jimi Hendrix
2. Stevie Ray Vaughan
3. The BEATLES (from various significant eras of their career)
4. Keith Richards (now THERE'S a face I'd like to sculpt)
5. Frank Sinatra (circa 1950's)
6. Bing Crosby
7. ELVIS (younger)
8. Bob Dylan
9. JOHNNY CASH (this needs to be made SO bad)

08-10-2005, 06:06 AM
If were talking original members of Metallica that would be cool.

When I think of "original" Metallica, it is the following:

Lars Ulrich
Jason Newstead
James Hetfield
Kirk Hammett

Is that the original you meant, or all the way back to
when Dave Mustane and Cliff Burton were in?

I became aware of Metallica at the "and justice for all" CD,
and so did many others I believe. It was their "big break".

08-10-2005, 06:19 AM
9. JOHNNY CASH (this needs to be made SO bad)

and a decent, realistic Elvis would be nice too.

08-10-2005, 06:29 AM
All of the Stones from their later years would make great sculpts. Think Kruger!

I posted these pics of the Fab Four when the subject first came up. Sums them up, for me:

Have you seen SOTA's Johnny Cash action figure (http://www.action-figure.com/modules.php?
op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=15448&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0)? Not 1/6, but nice.

08-10-2005, 06:45 AM
Magical Mystery Tour Pic = basis for Donnie Darko's Frank the Bunny? :dunno

08-10-2005, 06:58 AM
9. JOHNNY CASH (this needs to be made SO bad)

SOTA has a pretty nice 6" version on the way

08-10-2005, 07:43 AM
Yep, I've seen the Sota version... Looks nice! I really want one in 1/6 though.... (or even 1/4)

08-10-2005, 08:22 AM
Magical Mystery Tour Pic = basis for Donnie Darko's Frank the Bunny?
Gremlin (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?category=search&item=6904R&type=store) from "Nightmare at 20,00 Ft." = basis for Magical Mystery Tour figures!

Hell yeah, a Sideshow, Alice Cooper would be so awesome! As long as they did a classic version of him, that is.

08-10-2005, 10:13 AM
Looks nice! I really want one in 1/6 though

You have a better chance of making it happen then most of us. :p

08-10-2005, 11:21 AM
A 1/4 of the Man in Black would be above and beyond greatness.

Is that the original you meant, or all the way back to when Dave Mustane and Cliff Burton were in?

Well that is the "original" line up so yea esp Cliff.

Original Misfits with Danzig would sweet

Or Danzig

Social Distortion-

08-10-2005, 11:25 AM
O yea I would need a Hank Williams to go with the Man in Black

And I would have to have Waylon Jennings also

But now Im going into rockabilly and psychobilly that would open up a whole other can of worms.

08-10-2005, 11:32 AM
This is the Johnny Cash version I would want first

Anyway BIG Cash fan.

08-31-2005, 01:48 PM
I'd also love to see Sideshow make some 12" Bealtes and Alice Cooper figures. Alice would of course need a severed head of himself as an exclusive accessory.

08-31-2005, 04:50 PM
Why not the Jordonaires?

08-31-2005, 04:56 PM
When I think of "original" Metallica, it is the following:

Lars Ulrich
Jason Newstead
James Hetfield
Kirk Hammett

I have a strange story about James Hetfield. I was in a gas station in L.A. a few years ago, and the guy he was with came up to me and strangely said, "Hey look that's James Hetfield". I don't know if he was putting me on or why somebody would lie about such a thing, but he looked...odd. He was wearing some hip-hop type clothes. He also had a tattoo on his leg that I remember, so maybe a huge Metallica fan can say if it was him or not.

I'm really not a "star-struck" type person, so I really don't care if it was him even though I'm a big Metallica fan.

Back on Topic, only movie figures for me please.

08-31-2005, 06:15 PM
Add a Frank Zappa to that mix please.

09-01-2005, 09:57 AM
I'm with Elwood, :thwak :thwak Cliff Burton is THE ORIGINAL Metallica Bassist, and one of the best there has ever been!!

09-01-2005, 11:28 AM
I cant see James Hetfield in hip hop gear for some reason but you never know those guys have changed so much. I dont think for the better but crazy not to call Cliff the original bass player he WAS the original bass player. And cool as hell.

09-01-2005, 02:57 PM
I am a bass player and Cliff certainly had better chops than Newstead, but Trujillio is a good player in his own right. The solo at the beginning of Anesthesia is amazing. :bow
