SAVE MARY JANE CAMPAIGN!

If you aren't aware of the new PC target, check out this thread - http://sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20051 (http://sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20051)
Seems that these non-collectors (the Post calls them webhead fans, but you can bet they aren't) are calling for a stop to releasing a statue that has nothing to do with them. Even to the point of bothering Marvel and Sideshow about it with calls and emails.

The only reason this is getting attention is because of the Spider-man movie and is just another case of those that are ignorant of the comicbook world assuming that everything about it is just for kids.

This is a sculpture of a FICTIONAL character, one who just found something funny in the wash and is sharing it with us.

But the fear is there that Marvel may not want to alienate the tiny fraction of the public that has a problem with this, and may decide they have to do something. It seems inconceivable, but the AH! line may just be in jeopardy.

So if you're a fan of the line go let SSC know on the MJ preview page: http://www.sideshowtoy.com/behindtheshow/?page_id=2816 (http://www.sideshowtoy.com/behindtheshow/?page_id=2816)

Or better yet, contact Marvel licensing and tell them how you have pre-ordered this one (or wanted to, but couldn't cause it sold out so fast) and will be lining up for all future releases: http://www.marvel.com/company/index.htm?sub=contact_current.htm (http://www.marvel.com/company/index.htm?sub=contact_current.htm)

Direct contact form: http://www.marvel.com/company/index.htm?sub=dept_contact_current.php&department=licensing (http://www.marvel.com/company/index.htm?sub=dept_contact_current.php&department=licensing)

Don't let the Man (WO-man?) take away our Mary Jane!!!!

I let my voice be heard. I sent a message to Marvel. I suggest we all do the same. Please take 2 minutes and show your support for Sideshow, Marvel, and Adam.

Ah, now here's a crusade I can get behind. What a bunch of silly nonsense, I'll bet these same groups of people are the ones who whine about free speech. Guess the only free speech they want is what coincides with their narrow world view.

You know who my support is going to! It is absolutely idiotic and a total waste of time on the part of these women to go after something as harmless as a statue!! I LOVE MARY JANE and if I felt that it was in any way degrading towards women I would not have purchased it. Sideshow & AH! Keep on doing what you're doing , you guys rock!!! :rock

Furthermore...I happen to think that it is a beautiful representation of her character and really captures her beauty, confidence and attitude.

Both my wife and I just send Marvel a note in support of this line. I would suggest certain rights groups focus their attention or real issues where they are needed.

Have dropped Marvel a line as well. Truly a ridiculous situation.

I have no tollerance for the thought police or their moral minority. Their hearts may be in the right place but their heads are firmly implanted up their asses. They wouldn't have been able to pull this type of crap in the 90s.

I am sending an email as well in support of the Mary Jane statue and AH. This is absolutely ridiculous and it pisses me off. Who the hell are these people to tell me and you what is acceptable to purchase. There are so many worthwhile causes to be fighting for (education, health care, poverty, AIDS, etc....) It is rather depressing that people want to waste their time and effort bashing a statue based on a comic book character.

Narrow minded egomaniacs on that Devildoll board. I make one comment and I get banned. Sweet!

all said, anyone who thinks SSC or Marvel will take this serious should rest assured that they'll see it for what it is. No worries.

I sent a mail to Marvel licensing. I love Adam Hughes' work and his celebration of the true female form. For anyone to say that AH's work is sexist is completely stupid and unneccessary. AH shows women in their most beautiful form which is not anorexic but curvy and beautiful!

LONG LIVE AH!

Did anyone try to use the Marvel Consumer Feedback form? I tried sending a message, but I'm not sure it is going through; when I click Submit, the page just refreshes with all my info and message still there as if there is a problem or something. What did you guys use to send your messages?

I used the form. When I clicked submit it appeared that the screen refreshed but everything I had entered was gone. I'm sure it worked, but they could use a "Everything was submitted" screen or something.

This is most asinine campaign these conservative a$$hats have launched ever. I'm going to do my part and make sure these thought police don't win. Ever.

Hmmm??? That's my problem, everything stayed like it didn't go. I wonder if they have gotten so much feedback that have shut it off or something...

Ok, I want to start a petition against all statues of superheroes because they are degrading to men. They all look overly muscled and tough, and not all men are like that!! They are just based on a stereotype and it HAS TO STOP!

C'mon people, what a load of bs about this statue. Want to ban all posters of beautiful women too? And all adverts showing women in a revealing way? And magazines showing women like this? It's only a freaking statue, for crying out loud. There are worse things to worry about, that's my opinion!

oops. I see what you're saying. I chose 'licensing opportunities'. Don't know if that's right, but it made the most sense.

Yeah I found this page that lists Toys and Licensed Products: http://www.marvel.com/company/index.htm?sub=feedback_current.php
I sent my letter in but the page refreshes with the same page over again, no confirmation that the letter was sent.

Darklord Dave, How come this part of the forum doesn't have an edit feature?

My goodness. It has even spread to the rag mags. My wife was looking through US Weekly and there is an article in there about this same topic. What a bunch of bolagna. Get over it people, it is Mary Jane washing clothes and showing a little thong. She's at home, so your'e lucky she has them on at all. Malarky!

Welcome to my world.

You have now been introduced to the Nipple Nazis.

The real goal here of course is to defeminize the female form. Technically, it is an attack on women (men don't count).

-i.e. Women are not allowed to be sexy or have domestic skills or even *gasp* like men. Men are to be hated and women who are not men-haters many actually devolve into heterosexuals! Heterosexuals mean *ick* babies and more people. People must be stamped out!

Nipple Nazi culture is dangerous. Even Picasso saw this.

He once said that anyone who wishes to remove sex from art should not be allowed anywhere near art.
