Oh why do these ideas hit me so late at night?

Goodbye hair...no more fun and games...

I know my painting sucks, but tomorrow, I'm to paint up the gorilla face and make it look spectacular. I didn't even have the right paints on hand--this is just my pax paint and rubber mask grease for my ape makeup for myself...
http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/9775/dsc05066q.jpg

I combed up his hair so I could layer it properly:
http://img251.imageshack.us/img251/8459/dsc05072z.jpg

I trimmed a lot off because it needed it. I think it looks better. What do you think guys? ONly reason why I did this was because a friend of mine sent me some fake fur so if I messed up, I could rehair him.
http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/228/dsc05073r.jpg http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/7581/dsc05079m.jpg

Tomorrow after he has better paint I will take a nice photo of him.

I tried to enlarge the Burke head with very bad results. It was easier to just resculpt him.

I don't know if anybody else is brave enough to pop off their HT ape faces. It's a pricey toy.

Ironman, I know I passed on your offer before...but do you have any spare heads you have no use for? It's faster for me to churn out an ape head from an existing head without worrying if it's to scale or not. I think I've gone through all my extra human heads. I have some Asian ones but those don't work so well because the eyes are already slanted.

You know what Ironman? If I ever buy plastic resin again, I could make some faceplates with all of the existing molds that I already have. I would put a small amount of liquid resin in the molded section of the gorillas face to make a faceplate. I'm sure that's what Jessica did with this haired up Julius faceplate. She could probably make others. How many silicone gorilla molds do you actually have Jess?

Jessica
10-04-2010, 02:29 PM
Hi Angel! I don't know how many gorilla molds I have. Not too many. I have a lot of gorilla sculpts, but looking at them now, I am going to re-do them.

That's exactly what I did--poured just enough resin to fill up the face...trimmed the edges, and attached with Klean Klay for the photo. It's not even permanent.

Maybe. The parting of the hair makes it tricky. It's rooted that way, so you would have to scalp the thing, twist the hair around so the part doesn't show...if you scalped it, flipped the hair around...you may have to drill holes and punch in more hair.

OR...here's a thought! shave/pull off the hairs at the part (save them)...redrill holes and repunch to get rid of the part. That would probably be easier than trying to flip the hair around with a major scalping.

If that Frenchman came in a lighter hair color--like blond, with a good haircut he'd make a great orangutan.

After styling this hair, Hot Toys would have NO trouble recreating Zira and Cornelius. If the fur only came in a very dark brown, I would make them haired up like this.

Are you listening Hot Toys?

Whenever I comb down his hair with my fingers, I remember the cockatiel my dad used to have named Alfie. Alfie used to love getting the back of his head scratched. The back of Alfie's head feels just like this gorilla head.

Here's the kind of cockatiel my dad had. He had to give him away because he was too messy to keep. I kinda miss him. I taught him how to whistle the theme song from the River Kwai.

I really like it.

I am new at this side of the hobby so I find myself wanting to help others when I “figure” something out. This is what worked for me to modify the Dr. Honorious head to fit on the Sideshow Dr. Zaius neck/post. I used a 7/8 inch paddle bit to make the neck hole and a 9/32 inch drill bit to make the socket for the neck post. It fits fairly snug.

Now I just hope my painting can do justice to the sculpture.

...regarding my head swap of a gorilla soldier to the Hot Toys Space Adam...
>>>>>>>>>>>>

[QUOTE=stickman;2877565]I totally agree regarding the head.

That's a very cool crossover. I wonder how he would look with an Ursus head?
He needs his trademark rifle. Can the bandoleer fit over the suit?

>>>>>>>>

Cool.
I think the Ursus head would look good also (probably better – the soldier’s teeth bug me, also*). I would try it and post a photo, but my Hot Toys Ursus got boxed up because I was planning to move.

No, I could not get the bandoleer to fit over the suit without modification. (I didn't.)

*Has anyone tried a Hot Toys soldier teeth rework? If the snout was hollow it might be easier but I don’t think it is hollow.

Jessica
10-04-2010, 07:37 PM
OMG that looks spectacular Steven! Did I really sculpt that?

I have tried the dental surgery on the Hot Toys gorilla, but did not make it permanent. It's an easy fix--just slice off those marshmallow teeth with a sharp exacto knife. I have fresh Apoxie now. I will try to upload photos of it tomorrow. He looks better with the teeth on the lower jaw as opposed to where the Hot Toys sculptor placed it. They should have asked a real ape fan.

Welcome Angel! The orangutans are the simplest to hair up. For the hair, I would try to find more fur like the ones that Hot Toys used for their apes. It's called Mongolian fake fur, and it's about $26/square foot--you can buy this on Feebay but it's cheaper to find a stuffed animal unless you're planning on hairing all of Ape City. Check out all the stuffed animals in toy stores and see if there's one you can skin that is a good color. You could try doll hair but I haven't tried that yet. Matt Sotis has with good results I hear but have not seen real close photos.

Found two photos taken yesterday that I like. It's kind of hard to do real flame/smoke because you have to constantly watch the size of the ember. Not only did I have to be careful about not setting the hair on fire, I was also busy plucking off the burned incense with a pair of scissors as I photographed. I was also constantly relighting the incense, just skating with disaster as the hair curled back from the heat--I did see it actually melt back. To relight the flame, I had to put a cardboard shield between the gorilla's hair and the flame. Lot of work to take these photos...too big and it looks like incense. Plus there is no way you could photograph outdoors if there was the slightest bit of wind, because then the smoke would not curl the way you want it to.

I said I could try doing that...gears wheeling inside my head trying to figure out where I would cut and how I could use beads to try to make a ball joint...and then he said, worriedly, "You're not going to make him an ape, right?"

I busted out laughing. I promised not to.

TDP, those are awesome! It's really exciting to see the ape heads fitted onto the bodies. If it were me, it would take forever...and IM rarely posts photos...

Anyway, guys...I am working on Burke again because I don't like my current sculpt of him. So how many times does this make it? I've lost count...I just need him to look like Burke...like REAL bad. I'm so obsessed about getting him right.

Someone donated these heads to me. It started out like this, almost hopeless. I really am just looking at the size of the eyeballs, because I'm so tired of sculpting something and it not coming out the right size. That's so frustrating!

Guess it was a failed experiment/paint job. But I'll take him!

Thanks again to Jessica for make these resin ape heads. I look forward to any future ones. I'll probably order some more of these to see if I can paint them better.

Whew!
Made it thru a whole week without a funeral or family tragedy.
Took my little guy to NYCC today as part of his birthday gift and we had a blast!
He won something from Intel called a Boxey Box that turns your TV into an internet entertainment center. It isn't even released yet! Sounds cool and seems to do hundreds of things. He got his photo taken with some superhero types, a Halo guy and a couple of predators! Real Cool!
Me? Well I met some friends that were at their booths. Joe Ahearn, co-owner of Captain Action was there and I damn near kissed him when I saw the protype display for the new 1:6 Captain Action figure that will be available, via mass market like TRU next fall in time for the Christmas season. AND, to make that only better, they have partnered up with none other than MARVEL COMICS! Thats right Cap will be able to transform into Spidey once again. But he'll also get to don the personas of Thor and Iron Man among others this time around. I was mega stoked.
Then I happened across the Executive Replicas booth. Despite a lot of stuff being canceled from Amok Time and such, there is still much coolness forthcoming. I'll try and get the pix I took downloaded and posted in the next few days.
Zica Toys were also there. They are the ones making the new Buck Rogers in the 25th Century figures of Buck, Kane, Tigerman, Draconian Guard and Hawk. Very cool looking figures. the attention to detail is off the scale but.... the scale is the only problem for me. Zica are Mego sized enthusiasts. So, these are all 1:8 scale. I tried to talk them into upping their scale of choice, but I don't think I was enough to sway them . Very nice guys though. They even suggested buying their figures and using Hydrospan to make the 1:6 versions I wanted.
And my day only got better. I met Leo Leibelman and Mark Texeira. Two of the many artists contributing to the Conspiracy novel. Also two of the nicest guys I've met in a long time. Mark didn't bring any POTA work with him unfortunately but Leo? I was looking at his book of prints because he had a large amount of Marvel heroes stuff displayed. Then I saw in the back of the book his art from Conspiracy. We talked for a good while. Turns out that each artist on the book was assigned what they would do. He hopes to do more if there is a second book and to hopefully get to do some action sequences. So, needless to say I came home with that print. But, as we're talking, and he mentions that not a lot of POTA fans seem to be around the con, and that, from what we were talking about, he could tell I was a real fan, he pulls a sweet surprise on me. He offers me his original sketch drafts for his piece. I was absolutely floored. I was only able to get one and regretted having to pass on te other. Regardless I know have a one of a kind piece of POTA Conspiracy art in my collection.
So all I have to do now is mail out a few items to the patient folks waiting. Sorry, I couldn't get to the P.O. yesterday in time.
Then its on to trying to get some much overdue painting underway.
Ok, I'm beat. On my feet since 5 am.
Until tomorrow fellow simians!

Hey IM! Glad to hear you had a GREAT time. Did you meet up with Rich Handley? I wonder if he was only there on Saturday...?

So awesome about your Conspiracy art stuff! Please post photos of that, too! I can't wait for that book to come out. It was originally supposed to be ready by October, but then you know how real life gets in the way of things....

Zica Toys had their artists sculpt the Buck Rogers in 1:6 scale and they had them shrink it down to size, FYI.

I'm baking Burke's head right now. As soon as it cools off I'm going to paint it and see how it looks.

I have my Caesar in hand. He came in the mail yesterday, but I was out and about...went to see the Blue Angels fly over the SF Bay, so there was no time for that. He looks really wonderful!! Been sculpting again but there was a swimming party we had to go to smack dab in the middle of the day.

Here's what I am working on at the moment, another character from Star Wars

On snap! Look what I found! Perfect orangutan hair hiding in Ethan's stuffed horse. I've got enough to hair up three orangutans....maybe even 4 if I plan it correctly (you know...since I may as well resculpt Dr. Z at this point)... I'm going to see how the orangutans will hair up. I'll do a paint up of just the cast with the sculpted hair...and then I'll cast just the faces so that I can hair that up. Oh joy!! I've got a jacket in the perfect orange-utan that I will cut up for the tribunal characters. Working on apes just makes me so happy.

OMG I'm so happy and excited to hear that. :hi5: That really makes my day.

Still working on that damned Burke. His head is too big. I'm going to sand it down and start his face over.

I forgot to say that Dylan was not going to participate in Halloween this year because he feels that he's too old to get all dressed up. The other day in the car he was wondering if it would be OK to wear his pullover gorilla mask and just wear regular clothing. I said of course, that would look super cool. He wanted to know if he should black out his eyes. I told him it would just make it really perfect, so I don't see the brown of his skin, and would make it more "real." But I didn't really push it. So...I'm just holding my breath and hoping that he will have me black out his eyes on that day. I'll be at school anyway, volunteering for Ashton's Halloween party (but I won't get aped up). It's just too physically taxing to be in that ape outfit for only a few hours. It's got to be more than 12 hours in makeup or the 3 hours putting it on is just not worth it for my efforts.

I didn't see Handley and neither Leo or Mark mentioned his being there.
I'll post pix as soon as I can. I"ll have to try and take a decent one of the sketch art. There was also an online picture of Leo at SDCC 09 with an Ursus painting behind him. I don't think it was his but I'd sure like to see the whole thing.

Thats interesting about the Zica heads. I spoke with their guys for quite a bit and while ZI did try and convince them to even just sell 1:6 versions of the sculpts to allow folks like me to customize, they never mentioned that they actually had started out that way.

I was out all day again today but will mail your cleavers out tomorrow Angel.
And Jess, I'll be sending you enough heads to keep you busy shortly as well.

IM--if you have a spare female head, I would like to borrow it. I just need the shape of the eyes, so I can make a quick mold and cast and send it back unharmed.

Darn it. Ethan found his horse I forgot on the table. He has claimed it back. :gah: I submitted a best offer bid for the same horse on Feebay. If it doesn't work out, I'm going to give Ethan time to forget about this horse...and when that happens...goodbye horsie, hello tribunal.

Got the horse last night on Feebay. Just waiting for delivery. Hopefully the mold/cast materials will come soon. I really am curious about how the orangutans will hair up. I'm also going to hair up my Link sculpt, which I have to re-do because it's mongo-headed.

I am going to spray a Cornelius outfit with black plasti-dip today. I tested out a swatch of fabric yesterday and it came out ok. As soon as it's dry, I'm going to put it on Caesar and take some photos in natural light so you can see how spectacular he is. He's going to look fabulous.

Also, the spraying of plasti dip on that outfit is a real bear~! UGH! It's still not done. The material is fuzzy, so after I spray it down, I have to smooth it down with my fingers. I don't know if I'll be able to finish this project. It's really tough to get it all smooth!

I was hoping not to have to sew that outfit, but I guess I will have to. First, because I think I remember the sleeves being really long, and second, seeing the texture of the weave is driving me ape. The top has more layers of plastidip than his pants, so you can see how rough it is when it's first sprayed. I know that with more layers I could get rid of it, but it will still drive me nuts. I still really love the spectacular paint job. I like this color best for chimp skin. I'm afraid to pull out my modified Zira to compare...One important thing I did learn, though! The plastidip is really great for the vinyl part of the SS chimp outfit. If I can find vinyl this thin, no matter what color, I can always spray it down with plastidip and it will still look like leather. Night and day, guys from before makeover to now. A new outfit will just make him super spectacular.

HEre are the photos I took today:

BBTS is short for Big Bad Toy Store. It's an online figure store that is have a big clearance sale going on now.

They also have Sideshow's 12" Brent and the 12" Mutant Leader for under $25 each as well.

I'm also trying to scrape up enough cash to get that Dr. Honorious sculpt from you Jess! But my wife insists on starting the Christmas purchasing early (we always wait way too long and put WAY TOO MUCH on the credit card) so I've been a little light in the wallet.

I certainly wish BLAM would tell their fans what's going on with their book. Until then, I guess we’re all just holding on and hoping for a real jawdropper.

I've been reading an illustrated novel called "The Walking Dead". It's an incredible series loaded with superb characters, a captivating story and some wonderful artwork. I am really surprised Drew Gaska did not ask Neil from the PotaDG to draw for the Conspiracy book.

Yeah. Neil's work is among my favorite POTA "comic" art. I think 2nd only to Ploog. Actually, may be even between the two as Ploog was doing original characters and Neil was using existing ones. Damn! Now i have to dig out all my apes art and read it over again!

Whoo! Another successful cast! This is the President of the Academy. Is it crazy of me to want to sculpt Dr. Zaius? I may. Crazy or not, it will add variety. Then I will start on the chimpanzees. Stay tuned for Dr. Maximus. I will pour a cast of him tonight and see if it's a successful mold or not.

Those look easy. You will need embroidery floss, and whatever round thing goes on top of the shoulders. Then make a simple latch hook knot around the edges, and trim evenly:

Sticks - I once bought some gold fringe and then I cut it much shorter in order to decorate the outside of Ziras carpet bag from Escape. You should check out the fabric store in your area and look at all the fringe that's available to you or try what Jessica just suggested. In fact, you could probably use gold string like I used on the tassel of your ape horn. That would look great in the making of the epaulettes.

PZ -I think that would be a fun and easy project to build. You really should give it a real try! I'd love to see your take on it. Seeing you make this would be a real motivator for me. :)

I heard from Snick, guys! He said that he didn't know that a good looking chimp could be hiding in Sideshow's Caesar! :yess:

The polystone of the SS dioramas actually give them substantial weight. That would be the only thing your diorama would be missing--but you could always build it up on a heavy base to begin with. The heavy base would make your diorama easier to work with as far as staying where you need it as you pose your figures for those action shots. Brick lines are easily scored onto foam. Paint does wonders, too. For texturing, you can always use Apoxie and stamp the broken stone/brick texture with a real broken brick.

I thought I would have time to make a small mask for Zira and Cornelius, for Halloween, and take photos, but that never happened. I was working until the last moment on Ashton's costume (Ethan, too, but that was a simple sewing project). The cool thing was that I learned something new in the process of making the mask and it was awesome to see how fabulous Ashton looked next to the mask that did come with his costume! He was just the cutest ninja turtle ever, cause even though he's 6 years old, he can still wear size 4 toddler clothes. I cut out the teeth of the slush latex mask and glued down white mesh to provide ventilation. Still didn't help though. When he took off the mask his hair was really sweaty. I don't know how people can stand to be in latex masks. Glue the foam latex on me anytime...but I don't think I can deal with just a latex mask over my head--that would be claustrophobic.

http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/5503/dsc05462a.jpg http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/5562/dsc05482y.jpg

Ironman--I am very impressed with Scott's sculpt of Roddy as well as the Cornelius appliance. Can't wait to see it done and haired up. He says he will do silicone, which may be great for a static display but not to wear as I believe the muzzle would be too heavy. I hope he punches the hair and does the hairline correctly.

I really don't think the SS Dr. Zaius really looks like Dr. Zaius. Didn't someone have him professionally painted? Did it help bring out the Maurice Evans out of that sculpt? Maybe it's just me. I think he just looks too darn friendly. Here are some quick photos off the internet of the prototype and production piece. I think Angel's method of dental surgery really did wonders for the SS sculpt. Wish I could find photos of that...

Your right Jess, when Angel opened the mouths and put the teeth in, it really enhanced the apes in a more realistic way. I still don't know how he put those little teeth in! I have a couple that he did for me and they are really cool to look at! The recent Caesar sculpt that you have pictured looks crazingly like roddy on conquest and I would love to get one. I am still going to throw little reminders to you ever so often on your Dodge, Landon, Burke, and Virdon sculpts. Gotta love them! Later, Kent.:exactly:

Kfog, my girlfriend said that Virdon didn't look like Virdon, when I showed her the sculpt in person. I need to revisit him again. Also, I sent Burke out to Charles Hughey, hoping he would look great but the painting brings out the ugliness in the sculpt. This I didn't realize because Burke looks great unpainted. Ironman, if you are having trouble painting up Burke it's because my sculpt of him sucks. Sorry about that. I'll make it up to you somehow.

I can't wait to see these guys painted up!!!

I'm going to a costume party for kids, and Dylan doesn't want to wear his gorilla pullover until tonight, so guess what? I'm going to wear it! I'm going to have to black out my eyelids. I better eat now because my hair will be a mess underneath, and once it's on, I don't want to remove it because then I'll have sad black eyes! LOL~!

Yikes I better go and get ready. We are leaving in 20 minutes and at least I want my gorilla hair to be beautiful.
http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/1302/dsc05583w.jpg

Edited to say:

WOW. I did get my ape on, and it didn't take that long! Probably less than five minutes--to just black out my eyes and re-pin some of the hair. Everyone was shocked at the party because the mask looked so believable. I didn't black out my hands, so one guy asked me what my nationality was. When I told him he asked if I could take the mask off and I said no way, because I had raccoon eyes and then I'd have to restuff my hair under there. I'm going to have to work on a Zira pullover. It's great to be a gorilla, but I really prefer to be a female chimp. I must have looked rather silly sitting daintily like a girl with my legs crossed at the party. Plus I didn't want to use my last pair of contact lenses, because I'll save that for the next convention, so I wore my glasses on top of the gorilla appliance. It would have been better if I had latex ears to hook them on, but I didn't...even so, they miraculously stayed on. I just love to dress up!!

Paul, I know that you were curious about shrinking down headsculpts. Here is my Sideshow Zira shrink. I don't exactly remember how long it took to shrink from 1:6 scale to 1:9 scale, because I had put the items away and forgot all about them. I didn't think the substance would shrink anymore, so I was halfway through another mold to repour the shrinking substance. Months and months later, I did find the project again. The shrinking substance encased in the rubber/silicone experienced a weird chemical reaction and liquefied. Zira's face was still exposed to air, so the material shrank to Mego scale without me doing anything to it. I had to completely resculpt the hair and smooth out all of the pockets/bubbles that appeared on the surface as it shrank.

http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/115/dsc05594r.jpg

Here is a closeup of the bubbles that just are there because I don't use a pressure pot. These bubbles, if they are near the surface, eventually create pock marks everywhere and need to be filled in on your cast.
http://img82.imageshack.us/img82/244/dsc02849.jpg

Bruce Lee had no problem shrinking down to Mego scale. Zira and Cornelius, just because they were bigger due to the hair, took a lot longer to shrink down. I think they would have been able to shrink down to Mego scale if left alone long enough. I was more concerned with shrinking down the face than anything else, since hair is no biggie. The picture below shows how much the material shrank after a few days.
http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/5694/dsc02847n.jpg

Also, the shrinking down is not absolutely perfect. For instance, SS Zira has eyelids. The shrunken material did not have that. I suppose I could go in there, armed with a dremel and resculpt the eyelids--but why? It's so damned tiny nobody would notice anyway. You would probably not have to worry about that since you would not be shrinking your sculpt to such a small scale.

Here is another comparison shot, and it was obvious at this point that Bruce Lee still had more shrinking to do.

Your work always amazes me Jess. I so wish you lived closer. I'd love to see you work and maybe pick up a few tips along the way.

Has anyone here ever enlarged the Medicom or Mego apes to 1:6?

Jessica
11-04-2010, 08:22 AM
I so wish I lived closer to someone who is as obsessed about apes as me, IM. Ian (Mr. Shrinker) has enlarged Medicom to 1:9 and I have not seen any of the Mego apes enlarged to 1:6. I think that the Mego faces are actually pretty good--it's the hair and the horrible paint job that sucks and gives Mego that "Mego quality" that I do not like. I want all of my figures to look real. I hate when they look like dollies.

Hydrospan is too expensive for me to try to enlarge anything. I tried with Pink House Studios chemicals to enlarge Burke but that came out like crap. I have had a higher success rate of shrinking than enlarging. I've only managed to shrink Bruce Lee and now Zira, but theoretically I should be able to shrink anything to Mego scale if I have bothered to make molds of it.

Ironman1188
11-04-2010, 08:36 AM

Those wigs are most awesome...I need to see how one of my orangutans hair up before I invest in such a wig, since I was a bad girl and just bought an outfit for my samurai on Feebay. Ironman--forgot to tell you that from my experience, the flash will always bring out the shine no matter what type of matte you use. Just hit your figures with bright lights and turn the flash off of your camera...or just take your figures outside and that will minimize the shine. If you turn your flash off, you have to be super steady or your pictures will blur--just prop your camera against something if you don't have a tripod handy, to keep it steady.

Actually, the pix are less shiny than the head actually appears to be in real life. I noticed it as soon as I was done spraying it. I just have no idea how to take it "off" and as I like the head so much don't want to do anything that may damage it.

IM--I will send you a packet of my matte makeup that is clear that I use for when I go ape, and you can dust it on the gorilla face (not the hair) with a paintbrush. That will further mattify him and it won't be permanent.

Hot damn, guys! It's a perfect Nova body! I'm sure it will be pricey. I'm betting a longer 1:6 wig would almost make her a perfect Nova. The eyes are moveable, too.

True...I don't think you could color silicone, either, due to its properties, unless you premixed the pigments before you pour it.

True dat Jess! She still looks like the real thing though!

Question for stickman? Hey sticks, I recently purchased three Julius Caesar Ignite (Nude Figures) from Toy Anxiety. They were listed as (Shorter Stauture) which is the only reason why I purchased them. Can you tell me if the Julius Caesar figure is supposed to be shorter than the other ignite versions, because the three that I received are exactly the same size as the Ignite and dml version bodies. Thanks, Kent.

11-10-2010, 12:29 AM
Hey there KFog,

Funny thing, I never did get Julius. He received such bad reviews and I didn't feel there was too much that I could kitbash. I'm sure that the seller meant that the bodies were smaller than regular bodies, i.e. SideShow. The Ignite bodies are dainty and are not as built. They also seem smaller than DML Dragon. Let me know what you are doing with his helmet. I thought that it would be cool to paint gold and have it in my Clash of the Titans scene.

Wow that dark brown wig is most awesome! I really want to try that one! Actually, the person to ask would be Matt Sotis. He has haired up Snick's apes, but I don't know his methodology. I prefer sculpted hair myself...but you know how curiosity gets the best of me. I still want to try hairing up one of the orangutans I did...using that lion fur I used for Link. The color is perfect I think...I just have not worked up the nerve to paint up the orangutan face. I have a cast of just the face, ready for this...just haven't found my nerves yet.

Everyone, thanks again for the comments. I ordered the dark brown 1/6 wig to give it a try.

I too am really looking forward to the latest ape head painting.

I am trying at the moment to build up a head that I could glue an orangutan face to, trying to fit it onto a neck of whatever body I have...but I keep getting distracted by my sons and making sure they do their lessons. I really want to see how that lion fur looks on an orangutan!

Is anyone interested in buying any customs from my collection? I would take pictures, but my wife has it with her tonight. I'll take pictures soon.

For now, I'm looking at getting rid of two dozen of my custom made apes figures with their accessories. They're all fully clothed and painted. I just have way to many apes. The ones I'll be selling are mostly from the TV series and there are many others. I'll post pictures when I can. First come first served and money talks. Look how cute my mego scale Zira is! Her feet have been sculpted on with Apoxie, and are not removeable unless I pull the whole foot off with the ankle pin. Anyway, she's way cooler now and is easier to pose as she is more stable with the ape feet. I also added micro neodymium magnets on the soles of her feet, so she will be easier to pose should I ever finish up my laboratory scene...I even remembered to add black nailpolish! :)

Dylan and Ashton ask why I have to dress up the gorilla as a samurai, and I said it was because it's more fun. I let them play with him, and Dylan, even though he has zero interest in this stuff keeps posing my gorilla samurai. If I didn't give Julius a haircut, his Hot Toys gorilla hair would have been perfect in a chonmage. His hair is pulled as tight as I can make it in a tiny pineapple on top of his head.

Jessica

Yes, Jungle. The last time I was at the SF Zoo, we made a wide berth around the chimps because one of the males looked agitated and actually had an erection, and that was enough to make me look away. Plus there were signs all over the place warning about flying poo.

Forgive my tardiness... I know some of you may have been waiting to see what I was going to start selling from my collection. This is tougher than I thought...

Here is the first wave of figures I am hoping to sell. In general, I'm looking at making at least $50 on each figure in most cases, but if interested please make me an offer. Please note that you would pay the exact cost of shipping, not me. Some of these figures may get me some more money than others, so like eBay, I'm going to take the highest offer(s) on figures purchased from me. I'll monitor the interest in my figure(s) over the course of the week.

Please e-mail me at angelofmusic2112@yahoo.com if you are interested in purchasing any of these figures currently shown here.

Between now and Christmas, I plan on selling other POTA figures as well. This is a little tough, but I really want to sell them for a good cause.

Sure would be neat! But how much would you say "most people" be willing to pay for such a thing from a company such as Sidehow? I'm guessing it would be well out of the price range of many people. Even if it were $600-$700 (I think that is a very low price), I don't think most could afford it. What say you? What would YOU be willing to pay? Just curious.

Angel's got a good point. While one might be able to get a Barbie-esque version of the Icarus for a more affordable price, Hot Toys does the piece justice. An HT ship would be a 1:6 work of art, but as Angel stated, a work of art that few of us could really afford.

Costuming like you do Jessica, would be so much fun, but it's too much for me and there just isn’t squat around here. I felt like I spend a lot of money just to be a zombie at WVU. About 250 people went down Main Street as Zombies and I was one of them. Here I am trying to be gross at Buffalo Wild Wings, eating a chicken wing after the zombie walk down Main Street. Also pictured are 2 of my daughters and my wife as the undead.

Being that I am not rich by any stretch of the imagination, I would have to buy one piece at a time! How about starting with one chair each and go from there! Could they make seperate fitting console pieces as dioramas? I have a brother that has painted cars, comercial vacuums for vans, tractors and many other things over the past 35 plus years and may ask him to help me with the outer shell of the front of the Icarus. Quite an undertaking though! I am not sure what I would pay, but I would at least have to start with having a full time job and a better pay rate before I could answer that!:lecture
