I just started getting these, and was going to stick with just Zaius, Cornelius, and Zira, but after re-watching the films, I'm leaing towards at least one Taylor, Ursus, and the Mutant Leader...

It is none of my business my frined but if I were you I would get the Taylor and Nova 2 pack if you were interested in getting just one Taylor. That way you have a Nova to set with your Taylor. But, that is just my opinion!!!

I don't know....I saw Nova and wasn't impressed. With her or the figure. I'm leaning more towards the astronaut or the Battle For version.

Bythe way, if anyone is looking to unload their loose POTA figs, send me a PM.

It's good to hear that you have a monkey on your back, there Customickey! More Apes is always a good thing. :monkey3

I must admit my favorite Taylor figure is the one from Beneath... although I liked Heston performance in the first film better. The costume is done VERY well and he would look great next to a Mutant Leader.

But you really need a Taylor from the first film... the classic. Yet, it's strange that with all of the Taylors Sideshow offered, they didn't offer the one version we all wanted... a bearded Taylor in primitive clothes. Instead we get an exclusive bearded Taylor in an astronaut outfit as he appears in the very beginning of the film AND a clean shaven Taylor in slave clothes as he appears at the very end of the film. WHAT ABOUT THE WHOLE MIDDLE OF THE FILM, GUYS!!!! Unfortunately, it's a bit cost prohibative to buy both and kit bash them together. :o

Personally, I don't think that the bearded Heston exclusive is worth the price his going on Ebay for. I think you would be better off gettting a FL Bearded Heston head (HH022) and working your paint magic on him. Perhaps you can keep an eye out for a loose Slave Taylor on Ebay. I just purchased a lot on Ebay and luckily he was included. I'm going to be placing my order for that FL head soon, I tell ya. :D

Also, maybe take another look at the Hasbro 12" Taylor/Heston. Seeing what you did to good ole Palpy from Hasbro's SW line, you might find ourself again making lemonade out of another lemon.

I would also recommend to you, if I may Customickey, the Lawgiver statue. You can easily get it at a good price. I can't tell you how well that statue displays with the figures. Yet, I'm biased... I own three of them. :monkey3 :monkey3 :monkey3

I'd totally dig on a Lawgiver!! But my wife is making me get rid of my Caesar bust (I get to keep the DVDs) and I doubt she'd be too keen on the Lawgiver. I'd complain, but considering what she puts up with, this is the first time she's so vehemently objected to anything I've gotten.
Is their a website for Frontline? I tried googling them, but no dice.

Astronaut Taylor is SO cheap because that version of the character was on screen for SO short a time. What 3... 4 minutes tops???

Most collectors would want a version of Taylor that looks good with the Apes.

I find it strange that with all of the Taylors that Sideshow released, there wasn't one Taylor that was a MUST BUY version: the Bearded Primitive Taylor. The only one that came close was the one that came in the two pack... and that one had the financial burden of being packed with Nova.

I guess Sideshow wasn't confident that she would sell on her own so they boxed her in with the most desirable Taylor. :o

For Dr. Zaius, and anyone else that may have become interested, here is the info again on Urko:

URKO head prices
- unpainted - $30
- painted - $40
- shipping within the USA would be $4.55 for priority with delivery confirmation
- shipping elsewhere? Please email me and lets see what will work best

Feel free to post your criticisms/praise here if you wish, but any orders should be sent to me via email. Its just easier to keep track of that way.

OUCH!!! :monkey2 :monkey2 :monkey2

I admit the likeness is dicey... however in the world of Planet of the Apes she is hardly the most tragic.

One could assert that Taylor is THE central tragic character of the series. He starts off as a guy in a space suit spouting off about the brutality of man, yet he is the one who eventually blows up the entire Earth. Talk about your fall from grace. :monkey2 :monkey2 :monkey2

There is also the tragedy of Armando, Dr. Milo and the young Cornelius... but Sideshow didn't make figures of THOSE characters. :monkey3 :monkey3 :monkey3

C'mon now... this was all in good fun and at the very least it seems a lot of members are now getting more interested in starting "make a figure of _____" threads. But I for one will keep my pro-Kurgan propaganda to our thread and reach out only when necessary...

BTW, have any of you guys checked out the Medicom Ape figures? I have the Apethoven, and even though it is not POTA related its a really cool figure, they also released a Che Rebel Ape figure.

Sure, I was in on the joke... I countered some attacks with barbs of my own, all in good fun. In fact on page 26, I sort of bid the thread goodbye having said my peace and I wished you guys luck in your "crusade". Then at about page 28 of the Kurgan thread, comments (and well as one sick picture) started getting uglier and mean spirited. I don't mind a good hearted ribbing... but when the ribbing becomes long, hard and sustained, it starts to hurt your bones. The joke was no longer enjoyable.

But I think the moment where I really lost my sense of humor about the whole matter was when Shai came over here and "playfully" demanded in a large obnoxious font size that Dave to shut down this thread... a thread that has given me MUCH enjoyment over the past year. That was completely out of line.

And I stand by my words... I will not buy a Medieval Kurgan. And this is the last time I'm going to comment on the whole mess.

Now on to Ape related business:

As for your Medicom question, I have all of the POTA vinyl figures they released as well as all of the Ape figures of their Kubrick line. I have yet to get the Apethoven or the Che Caesar figure. I've held the Che figure in my hands... he looked great but I thought it was a little too steep for me. Perhaps I'll find one down the line that will be more affordable. :o

But Sideshow keeps my wallet busy with their 12" Star Wars, LOTR and Buffy lines that I don't know when I will be able to afford it.

And the 12" Ape-O-Nauts are still my number one requested figures for Sidehow to do. I think they would be the easiest to produce and would probably sell the most. :D

Maybe next year's SDCC exclusive? :monkey3 :monkey3 :monkey3

I haven't seen the Che in person... my guess is he's a pricey one. But I was able to pick up the Apethoven for around $60. Definitely a cool figure, but scale and design-wise doesn't quite fit with Sideshow's stuff.

The Che Caesar that was in my hands had a $125 price tag. I haven't monitored this figure to see where he is at now... I'm sort of scared to. :monkey3

As for it fitting in with the Sideshow stuff, I kind of like getting off the wall pieces for my collection. It keeps it fun. :D

Now is the Apethoven a bust or a full figure? Is it different than the pic below?

galactiboy

Yeah, he's a full figure like the Che with the magnetic human face. Very similar packaging as well, except a grey box and the cut out is in the shape of Beethoven's head. I'll get some pics together and post 'em. Its a nice figure, and whats most impressive is the quality of the clothing: a stunning velet coat and ruffly sleeves :monkey1

Wow... I didn't know that! You learn something new every day. :D

I did a quick scan on Ebay and found that he is also available as a Kubrick.

I find the 12"er strangely compelling. If you have more pictures of the him, PLEASE post them. For the short time I've been looking at this guy, if you got him for $60... congratulations! He is listing at over twice that!

What's neat about him is the attention to detail and fine work... that is one area that Medicom typically excels at... As for Che, my guess is he is pretty expensive these days as he's a couple of years older.

I think someone else (Hot Toy?) did a similar line with ape masks that would fit over the figures head... but I think they are in the $300 range :monkey4

I actually stumbled across mine by accident while trying to find a Sideshow Soldier Ape. What is the "Monkey King" figure? Did I miss something?

Its a Jason Ng figure... I Kidrobot carried him for awhile and here's the link:Monky King (http://www.kidrobot.com/shop.php?Category=12-Inch%20Action%20Figures&sku=5887&image=1&gallery) However, they used to have different pictures and the headsculpt looked a lot better, like this eBay auction: eBay Monkey King (http://cgi.ebay.com/Tao-Stephen-Chow-HANUMAN-12-Figure-shaolin-Samurai-MIB_W0QQitemZ6008783517QQihZ009QQcategoryZ27294QQs sPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem). So I'm not sure what this means if you were able to buy one if it would look good, or kinda crappy :monkey2

The figure is based on the main character from "Into the West" a Chinese classical novel... this site has info and the story (w/pictures) at the bottom. Probably an inspiration for POTA? Monky King Legend (http://www.china-on-site.com/pages/comic/comiccatalog1.php)

Hey all, I am going to just go off the topic here for a sec.
Does any one understand the all the details of Sideshows new Inclusive Editions? They state that "Sideshow wants to offer select figures to the public in a new way, an inclusive way that is meant to introduce specific items to a much wider community of fans. We recognize that not all of the buyers interested in our figures would necessarily describe themselves as "serious collectors". Sideshow has created our new Collector's Inclusive Edition program, which we hope will expand the community of collectors and potential collectors around the world making it easier for those fans that may only purchase one or two pieces per year to have a more convenient opportunity to own a Sideshow Collectible."
My question, rather my hope is, maby some Apes will make it into this section! Since many of us want more in the Ape line, and since Sideshow feels there isn't enough interest to put more figures out. could it be that possibly they may make us Ape lovers some of our dream figures with a VERY low and limited number edition size? Any thoughts on this?

Well... just a few days later and Monkey king has arrived. What can I say I love, love, love this figure! Absolutely stunning, he has a few flaws, but this guy is just the bees-knees. So here's some shots broken into 2 posts:

The box, evidently in the style of a book... has little fabric clasps that hold it closed as well as an edition number... mines 661/10000, just 5 numbers off :monkey3

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e381/galactiboy/hanua.jpg

The costuming on this figure is amazing, I can't tell if parts are armor are woven or molded, but it looks great from all angles:

Here's a detail of the chest armor:

onto part 2...

galactiboy
06-14-2006, 05:33 PM
Part 2:
Here are shots of the headsculpts... the main as well as the human and cartoonie one. The main and human head swap out real well, but for some reason the cartoonie one is real tight and I didn't want to force it.

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e381/galactiboy/hanug.jpg

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e381/galactiboy/hanui.jpg
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e381/galactiboy/hanuj.jpg

And here's his main accessory, a long metal (actually) staff. In a addition to the heads he has a total of 8 swappable hands a crown (see human head), some kind of long thin pin (?) and the gold chain he's sporting in the last shot.

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e381/galactiboy/hanuk.jpg
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e381/galactiboy/hanul.jpg

Overall this figure is just A-mazing. The two big nits would be that the body is a little chintsy... it feels like an older dragon body and is a bit looser than I would prefer. Also one set of hands (the ohm ones) are pretty small and don't look right on the figure. But aside from that the figure is golden... highly reccommend you get one if you can :monkey1 :monkey1 :monkey1

Well in an effort to keep the leader of the Great Ape Army from my gates I give you a peace offering: there is a guy on the OSW forum selling just the figure, jumpsuit and boots for $20! Loose Mad Bomber (http://www.onesixthwarriors.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53762) I assume you just want the human head... so this is probably the cheapest option. Hello my friend!!
I don't mind sharing at all. Like I said, I just asked for figures from the TV show. I asked them to do a Galen, Burke, Virdon, Zaius, Urko, and Prefect Barlow. If they did do them, I think the only ones we would stand a chance on seeing is Burke and Virdon and Galen. But I hope I am wrong and they do all of them. I am still putting money aside to get the cool Urko head Iron Man had made up.
I don't know why DD hasn't posted the pics of the jail yet. I know he is very busy. Our next project is a Icarus (the spaceship used in the Apes films) the scale that would look good with the 12inch Sideshow Ape line. We have talked about it but I haven't heard from him in over a month. I know he does sets for movies and such so I am guessing he is away doing that.
If you want to send me your pics over the email, I can post them for you. I don't know what a firewire port is so I don't know if you can even send them via email. But if you can and I can help, let me know.

I would like to see a few inclusive figures for this line. I really enjoy the MUTANS. Thanks SideShow.

Unfortunately too many stinking Taylors brought this line down for me. Another disappointment was the lack of accessories. What happened to whips, knives, nets, and the infamous camera scene? A new sculpted gorilla would be nice.

Call me a bit dull or dim witted but... how does the Inclusive Edition serve our cause for more Apes?

I'm not so sure that is does. :monkey3 :monkey3 :monkey3

I thank in advance ANYONE who can explain this to me. :D

galactiboy
06-26-2006, 04:10 PM
I think the hope for the inclusive is that this would be an instance in which Sideshow could offer a figure and know ahead of time how many units to sell. Thereby lowering the risk of over-producing a figure. Unfortunately the only way they seem to be using the system right now is for figures they plan on making a monkey-butt load of.

But anything that it takes to get Apeonauts I'm all for... or at the very least their friggin' costumes!!!

Protozaius
06-26-2006, 10:17 PM
I dunno... I just think that the Inclusive program is meant for items that have a broader appeal... so they won't exclude (i.e. piss off) a major portion of the prospective buyers. I don't think it would work for the smaller lines (i.e. Apes).

Lets just say that you had an Inclusive 4 day window for the Ape-O-Nauts. If Sideshow only got less than 300 orders, would that be considered a success? Would they still make them? Would there then be a regular version?

Maybe the Inclusive program would unfortunately reveal just how small the pond of interest buyers REALLY is. :o

Ironman1188
06-27-2006, 04:57 AM
PZ, I see the view that you are looking at it from and, from that perspective, I agree. I was hoping, however, that Sideshow would see fit to make inclusives to "complete" some of the lines left lying on the wayside. This would not inly benefit us ape-o-philes, but perhaps the TZ, OL and UM fans!!

I was hoping, however, that Sideshow would see fit to make inclusives to "complete" some of the lines left lying on the wayside.

I don't think that they will. I don't believe that is the intention of the Inclusive program.

I seems to me that Sideshow isn't interested in producing 12" figure edition with less than 500 whether is it to complete some holes in a collection or not. And it seems to me that many of the perceived holes fall in that catagory.

Hate to be the downer monkey but I'm trying to be realistic. :monkey3 :monkey3 :monkey3

For commercial reasons you are correct Protozaius, but as collectors we are not concerned, so much, with commercial concerns. Isn't that why credit was invented. :lol We are the dreamers, and Sideshow seek that connection. Let us be heard. I'm sure we are. Sideshow has the hard job of making those dreams viably commercial. Luckily the future is unknown and unwritten.

I think there is always hope. Sideshow is definitely very focused on their SW and LOTR lines, but I wouldn't be surprised if after things quite down they don't revisit some of their classic lines. They got a lot of mileage out of POTA and other lines so I hope they wouldn't completely abandon them.

Well, Stickman, I think the Inclusive Edtion program would only save the manufacturer from over producing an item... from being stuck with a bunch of unwanted product in their warehouses. However there's no insurance for manufacturer that there would be enough orders within the ordering window to actually warrant the figure's actual production. :o

Very poetic.....I feel the Inclusive ordering system would be a perfect fit for the POTA line(and Kur...well you know)....I have said it since they announced the Inclusive ordering...They could put it out there for a few days and get a 1000 or a few hundred...either way it would leave SS with few unsold items and we would get our much desired Medieval Kurgan, I mean POTA figures....Anyway I think its a good idea to use the Inclusive system for some other lines and figures that need some attention!

Especially since he went for $71.00. I hope Sideshow takes notice. I wrote them a letter over 3 weeks (I think) ago asking for Inclusive Apes. They neevr responded which I find as a hope. When the line stop producing a friend of mine and myself wrote them letters asking for more Apes. They replied to both of us that the line was not dead, but not in production either. Since they never responded to my letter asking for Inclusives, I am hopeful that maybe we will see a return to the Planet of the Apes. Given Sideshows top secret attitude toward their production line I can see them not answering if Apes may see the Inclusive light.

I can't believe that SDCC is in a week! Yeah, I feel VERY lucky that I'm going again this year. My family has been very supportive of my wanting to go. Both my Christmas and Birthday presents from my family this year has been basically funds to make this possible.

The highlight for me these past few years has been the Sideshow booth. THE SOLE reason I went to SDCC two years ago was to check out the Planet of the Apes figures. It was the first time that the figures were shown to the general public (I couldn't go to Toy Fair :monkey2) and I wanted to be there. And last year it was great to see the final ape display with Caesar (seeing the new head sculpt), Ursus and Mutant Leader. It was also fun to see the other displays like the Star Wars PFs and the Buffy figures. Little did I know that within a year's time to would be coveting those figures. :monkey3

This year promises to be bigger (even without an Apes display :monkey2 ) with Star Wars 12"ers and PFs, LOTR 12"ers and PFs and of course the Buffy and Angel figure display. I'm looking forward to seeing both Angel and Cordy form the Angel line. I'm hoping to be surprised by an unannounced addition to the display... maybe Giles? :monkey5

And to answer your question I have gotten all three Star Wars 12"ers (I've pre-ordered ALL of the figures as well as the Sith Droid pack) and LOVE them all. I just got Kit Fisto (who was originally planned as the SDCC exclusive) and he is amazing. The detail is amazing. And that Droid head is HEAVY!!! When I tried to display Kit holding it, my Kit's left hand popped off from the sheer weight of it.

Kit doesn't have the monkey arms (as an Ape fan I don't take issue with this :monkey3) that Luke has, and his right arm doesn't fall off like Anakin does, but the head has VERY little posability due to the tenacles. But that is alright... a small nit to pick. But it does seem strange to be getting Kit before Obi-Wan... THAT is the figure that I'm most excited to get. But he will be on dispaly at SDCC and will be shipping within a month or so. August is fast approaching.

Thanks a lot PZ, I plan on going through then with my Kit order. I agree with the Obi-Wan choice. He looks awesome, and I too can't wait for this one. He's the one that helped me decide on this line. Yeah PZ, encourage the powers that be when you see them that Apes still exist and more are required. I talked to Matt once over the last Comic Con Chat group and he said that he is all for more Ape figures if he could convince the powers that be at SS to let him loose on them.

Yeah PZ, encourage the powers that be when you see them that Apes still exist and more are required. I talked to Matt once over the last Comic Con Chat group and he said that he is all for more Ape figures if he could convince the powers that be at SS to let him loose on them.

I did meet Mark on several occasions at Star Trek conventions during the mid-70's. I was the only one that had PLENTY of Apes stuff for him to sign. Back then NOBODY charged for an autograph. One time I had him sign the inside of my gorilla costume (complete with Don Post mask) and had my picture taken with him for the local newspaper. I just received a notice for every SDCC item I ordered. Can't wait! Too bad for the lack of ape paraphernalia.

I don't have Caesar displayed with my SS Apes... he is presiding over my DVD player... LITERALLY ruling over all that I see. :lol :rotfl :lol

The craftmanship is nothing too special... it's a nice idea, "pass"ibly executed. If it were my decision, I would have commissioned a sculpt of the the Lawgiver bust or the Caesar statue. I think it would have added a level of class that is missing with the piece... and you wouldn't have to deal with all of the unruly crepe hair! But since we are stuck with the hair, I would have liked it better if he was looking straight ahead instead of having his head titled downward.

Anyway, I'm told that the set is now being clearanced at a few DVD web sites... so if you keep your eyes peeled you might stumble across a deal out there. :monkey3 :monkey3 :monkey3

hello all! back in the thread after a long break :monkey1 don't know if anyone else out there has been looking but I finally found a passable horse for my apes. No hope what so ever. The SW license is too big right now for them to focus anywhere else. Wow! did you see that Jabba environment scene? I am a big fan of environment displays for 1:6 figs, as my early posts indicate. This one is a winner! Lets keeping hoping that making an inclusive POTA figure is still plausible. I hope SS delves further into their licenses and start making environment displays for all their lines. Think, Mutant Lair, with Atomic Bomb worshipping fun. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b99/Stickly/POTA2.jpg So many others could be made, even a place for Brent to hang out. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b99/Stickly/BrentshotinheadBPOTA.jpg

I wonder what ol’ PZ is thinking while he’s circling SSC’s display stands, drooling. I wonder if he will be able to order the Jabba environment while attending SDCC. The Throne display and creatures may sell out rather quickly.

Well I am in the Con chat, and Dusty gives the nod for the word of the day, too late. Man that Swoops is fast. I am so looking forward to a new figure, that I didn't have, and an exclusive at that. I have a Lawgiver I purchased from ebay coming too. I thought it was about the best time to get this, while most people are saving their sheckles for Con goodies. Swoops, you are da man, I wont forget this. If I can't do something for you one day, I hope good kharma seeks you out and you get ten fold the tidings. Don't be backward in coming forward if I can do you a favour. :bow :bow :bow :grouphug

My PotA grails now, will be the exclusive Taylor and Mutant Jailer. I still have to get the Taylor/Nova pack and that's about it. I am happy with the regulars of the others. I wont be getting anything else soon, cause I am sweating on The Mummy PF coming out locally, and if it doesn't I'll be having to save for shipping and get it direct from Sideshow, so until I know what's going on things will stay tight.

The auctions were poorly listed. If you want to attract bidders you don't shorten Beneath the Planet of the Apes to BPOTA.

I had my SS Jailor signed by Don Pedro Colley this past weekend at SDCC. He had NEVER seen the figure before... he has a couple of them himself but he has left them sealed in their shipping boxes, so as to not lower their value ( ). He thought the figure had a great likeness of him... it was fun to be the first person to show it to him. :D

I'll post pictures of the signing once I find a way to do it... the picture are far too big to post my normal "manage attachments" way.

creecher
07-24-2006, 05:01 PM
You can reduce the size of your pics using your edit function to resize them. I use ACDSee. I just click edit, resize, drop the number by five, and save as, and somehow, no matter how oversized my pic was, it ends up within the size range to use the 'manage attachments' function. Most any photo viewer will have an edit or resize function. Good luck, I'd like to see those pics.

I would have liked to bid on those Apes you brought our attention to, but it was America only, unfortunately. Lucky too, because I didn't have the money anyway, and you know what that means. The utilities can wait. :lol

So I am hoping and praying. I think what hurt the Ape line is too many were released to soon! To much of a hurt on the wallet. I think Star Wars fans will soon see this. Especailly with the Jabba and his display set. That is going to put many of the fans out of some serios $$$$. Especially with the other SW releases they are going to release soon.

Hey Creech, What do you think of the Law Giver?

creecher
07-31-2006, 09:19 PM
Ever since they announced the Lawgiver, I wanted one. It was the first statue and diorama, all in one, and I loved that idea. I didn't have any PF's back then. It was 1/6 scale all the way. The Ape line came out fast and furious. In a way I was expecting it, cause Sideshow showed the five main figures they were going to produce upfront. I thought that was it for the line, so I was more focused on getting the figures. You know what happened then. In my circumstance, this was hindered by waiting for them all to arrive downunder. Other releases became higher priorities. I was the only bidder for my Lawgiver. Looks like a good time to get one, now that they are in the 'sold out' category.

The Lawgiver. Comes in a big box. Seemed light when I pulled it out. Always glad to save on shipping. It seems a dull colourless statue, but is really a very nice blending of shades. I love the unbaked clay look of it, and they head is what I like about it the most. Simplistic in design. Yes, but I think about how hard it is to capture someone else's style, when an artist has a style of their own. It is the Lawgiver.

This will have to do for a happy ape. :chew I don't like wearing pants either. :D

Thanks for your kind words about my meeting with Don Pedro Colley. Funny enough, I ran into him again later on that day on the train ride back to my hotel. I got to talk to him a lot more... turns out he is from Oregon as well. I guess it shouldn't surprise me... you have to be a mutant to live with all of this rain.

Yeah, Mutants with webbed feet. :monkey3 :monkey3 :monkey3

Got to hear stories when Don was the under study for James Earl Jones in The Great White Hope on Broadway back in the day as well as his meeting with George Lucas for his role in THX 1138. It was a great time that I will never forget.

I also got Mat Falls to sign my Dr. Zaius (sorry no picture of that:monkey2). It was great that he recognized me from the last year's Comic Con. I do know that Burt Ward [Robin] is cool! My friend and I had plans to meet him several years ago. My mom had a stroke and due to that, I didn't go. My friend told him that we had these plans and then my mom became ill so I couldn't make it. He sent an autograph photo back with my friend. He was VERY nice and more than willing to talk Apes with me. I asked him about the makeup process he went through and he told me that he was in Mutant makeup for five shooting days. The problem wasn't putting it on, but taking it off. After those five days he said that his face was "a mess"... the spirit gum was really toxic to his skin. He TOTALLY sympathized with the Ape co-stars who had to wear it throughout the shoot.

You could tell he REALLY dug the Sideshow figure of him. He sounded rather proud of it. I was glad to be the one to show it to him for the first time. He had in his possession three of them but they were still sealed in their mailer boxes. This was the first time he saw the actual figure. I told him that I was going to buy a whole new figure for him to sign but after seeing how much they were going for on EBay, I decided to re-pack mine and bring it with me. I told him that his figure was one of (if not THE) most expensive of the Planet of the Apes line. He seemed VERY proud of that as well. :monkey3 :monkey3 :monkey3

I talked with him for quite awhile... taking a break only to let other attendees to get his autograph. And yes, he did charge $20 for his autograph. However, I talked with him for so long that he forgot to charge me. Twenty mintes after I left him I realized that I didn't pay him and went back to do so. You should have seen his face when I came back. He totally forgot that he didn't charge me as well and he couldn't believe that someone would be honest enough to come back and correct it. It was priceless.

I did meet up with him again (like I stated in another posting) on the train ride back to my hotel. It was a great time that I will never forget.

You paid 20 bucks for that guy's autograph?! Yikes! :lol

This is one of my favorite figures, but I hate that the head underneath the face is the same as the non-exclusive. The eye colors weren't even changed.

Everybody at the Autograph Pavillion at SDCC charges for their autograph because they pay for a table to be set up there. Also many of the actors/celebrities there are retired. So the $20 goes to help them both "make table" and make a bit of a living or pay them for their time there. The people who do not charge for signatures are ones that are sponsered by individual booths to be there and push their product... or are there to push their own merchandise (like Mat Falls and everybody at the Sideshow Booth).

So, CF, you think I should have stiffed him... taken the autograph and run?

No. I just think the price is a little steep for... um... "that guy's" auto.

I still think it's cool that you met him, though.

Hmmmm, I wonder if he would tell us who he was if he was a member. But, being a fugitive he may not just in case Lt. Gerard is looking for him on the board.

I would have paid him 20 bucks to sign my figure; Money well spent.
