Once you are logged in, there is a list of options at the top of the page, beginning with 'Home'. Next to 'Home' is 'User CP'. Click on that, then you will see a list of options. Select 'Edit Sig'. You will need to have your banner hosted, so you can use the link to your banner, from the hosting site, to type in to the 'Edit Sig' facility. Then you can type a message, you want to have displayed, under that link. If you want to have the message written in your banner, then you will have to use a program, such as photoshop, then have that image hosted. Lastly, click on "Save Changes', at the bottom of the 'Edit Sig' page to complete the exercise. I hope you can follow these instructions easily, if not ask again.

Whatever picture you wish to use, needs a url. So it needs to be on a site that hosts the picture/banner. If you make a banner yourself, it will need to be hosted by such a site. Here's a simple one to use: http://www.tinypic.com./
There are others. You can use a link to a picture you have seen online, but if that site ever removes it, your banner will be gone, so copy the picture you want into a folder on your computer, then upload it to a hosting site. Once it is accepted, which takes only a minute, you will be given a choice of url's to use according to the purpose you wish to use it. Hope that's gets you up and running.

The pic i got is from another forum, so if i find the page where the pic is in the topic i can just copy the link and i'm good?

That's right, you can just use the link to that picture, but, as I said, if the site where the picture is located, goes down, or removes the picture, so will, what was your signature, disappear. That is why it is best to save a copy of the picture into a folder on your hard drive. Use the link to the site, and keep a copy, just in case.

I clicked on "User CP" then "Edit Sig." posted link and wrote something under it and saved.

If you go here http://sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14741
you will see this; "Please limit your signature to 3 lines of text or a SINGLE image no larger than 150 pixels high x 500 pixels long."
This is why you will see most signatures being of a long oblong shape.
I can resize your pic for you, but you only get the guys head in, or his hands and the bag he is holding, or I can make the whole pic really small, which would be okay if you wanted a 'civil war' style banner as your sig.

Aaahhh, the plot thickens:D If you could shrink it down to the "legal" size without cutting anything off, that would be great.

Okay, I have resized it, and hosted it. Right click on the pic, save 'image location', then paste that into your 'User Cp' and save.

Or you can copy this, below. You have to remove the spaces after and before for it to work.
