I completely forgot about Trainspotting 2. I was incredibly let down by it. There's talks they might do a sequel... and this one showed once was enough.

I can’t make a huge list...I don’t have time to watch movies anymore...

My Best

Blade Runner 2049
War for Planet of the Apes
Logan

Worst?
JL
Oh yeah had to edit...Alien Covenant...
Much worse than JL by far!

The movie was a blown opportunity. It was poorly written. I went in with no expectations but having loved the original. There was no reason for the sequel to be made. It brought absolutely nothing to the table, beyond a pointless depiction of middle-age burnout among drug addicts. In hindsight, were I to make a sequel to Trainspotting I'd have compared middle-age burnout to heroin addiction: where desperation drives bored sociopaths to extreme behavior.

There was no direction. No message, at least a message that wasn't already banged into your head in the first film. It's not a film I'll ever revisit. Where as the first film I saw for the first time a few years back, and have given it several watches.

And here I thought it was going to be one of those rare great sequels.

For movies I saw in the theaters.

4. Logan Lucky
5. Get Out

Sucked Ass
1. Underworld: Blood Wars

5. The LEGO Batman Movie

1)Thor Ragnarok
2) John Wick 2
3) Wind River

2017 was quite a disappointing year for cinema for me but my list is as follows:

Best
(1) Blade Runner 2049
(2) Logan
(3) Baby Driver
(4) Hacksaw Ridge (was released later in the UK)
(5) Dunkirk

Ok - nothing special
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2
Thor Ragnarok
Power Rangers (better than I expected but still average to rubbish)
Beauty and the Beast
Baywatch
Spider-man Homecoming
John Wick Chapter II
Valerian (haven't read the comics and enjoyed it more than I thought I would - immersive and interesting world building)
Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales (I was a bit drunk when I saw it but I had a great time)

Worst - this list was so hard because wow what a disappointing year (from my perspective anyway)
(1) The Last Jedi

...deliberate gap for emphasis haha ...

(2) Dark Tower (my favourite series of books absolutely destroyed by an awful movie and such was my nerd rage and disappointment that I was convinced it would easily be my worst of the year that was until the dark times .... TLJ)
(3) Alien Covenant (another strong contender for worst of the year... threw away the interesting ideas from Prometheus in favour of 'fan service' and illogical characters and plot ... actually still maddening to think about haha and Ridley made it to filmblock Bloomkampf's sequel to Aliens)
(4) Lego Batman (an early but strong contender for worst movie of the year)
(5) The Great Wall (holy smokes this was worse than fifty shades)
(6) Fifty Shades Darker (awful awful film making)
(7) Wonder Woman (didn't live up to the hype... predictable, plot holes galore, rip off of Captain America the First Avenger and horrible CGI fight at the end which left a bad taste in my mouth)

This year didn't have "10 best" by a long stretch. Most movies were really meh this year.

But Pirates 5 (to me) was one of the better ones.

BEST:
Bladerunner 2049

WORST:
so many its sad

MOST DISAPPOINTING:
The Last Jedi
