View Full Version : Lord of the Rings Online: Crack of Doom Kinship
Scholar has some pretty cool scrolls you can use and of course there are all the potions you can make.
Loremaster's are pretty cool characters, they can solo, they can do crowd control and they can heal... once you start doing places like Carn Dum and the Rift, groups always looking for LM's.

Almost to lvl 39 now. Been doing the quest in Evendim, TONS of solo quests there for 30-levels that have pumped me up. Trollshaws/Angmar quests were too high for me, so I guess that's why they brought in Evendim. FINIALLY BOUGHT MY MOUNT. OH MAN, is it awesome and worth every penny. Already up to 2 gold again, thought I would have no money, so looking foward only lvl 50.

I suppose i better hit lvl 50 soon before the expansion..4 more levels.
Lvl 50 is fun and all but really it never stops, there are deeds to obtain, then there is rep to max out, so unless you play 24/7 your not gonna run out of stuff to do. If you do end up raiding there is The Rift and Helegrod, which are 2+ grp places, then there is Ugarath and Carn Dum, which are single group raid places.
Since I've been 50 and after the months I took off, I realized my deeds were pretty bad and my rep was non existent with most places, all I do these days is work on those and save up gold for my Rep horse.

yea, I saw the Evendim rep horse, and the black horse looks pretty cool actually. I think once I hit lvl 50, I"m goign to replay all my deeds and max out my virtues. Since I'm a scholar, I think I might finish that and then max out my cook on my other character.
Also while doing reputation work, make sure you check out the rep vendors for quests for particular tradeskills, I was able to get to kindred (max) by smithing metal icons with council of the north and by tailoring stuff for the rangers of edelstein. I think as a scholar you can do tradeskills for rivendale faction.

Yea, I have one current scholar quest for rivendell. So there is only one faction per tradeskills????
Pretty much....off hand Bree Rep is woodworking, Council of the North is metalsmithing, Rivendale is scholar, Thorins Hall is Jewelcrafting, Warden of Annimaus is weaponsmithing, Rangers of Edelstein is Tailor and Shire is Cooking.
Some tradeskills work out better then others I'm a metalsmith/tailor so I was able to max out Rangers and Council of the North.

Nice, have to get to lvl 49 before I do scholar stuff in rivendell, but it's nice that its there.
Approaching level 40, only 10 more to go to reach the cap and I have SO many areas I ahven't explord (Trollshaws/Ettenmoors/Angmar/Misty Mountains). Is it worth it exploring these 4 regions once I hit level 50? Really wouldn't get any experience out of it.

If you're around 40 i'd head to trollshaws and MM for exp.

You can do some decent solo quests in the Trollshaws around 40, Misty and Angmar require small fellowships for the most part, I couldn't tell you about Ettenmoors...never gave pvp a try.
Another place that has decent solo quests for lvl 40 is the first area of Forochel but 42 may be a better lvl for starting there. Pretty much at high 30's to mid 40's your gonna need to do some fellowship quests and don't forget to do your epic line, some of the quests get pretty interesting.

Just hit 41 and finished Evendim (for the most part), hitting up west part of Trollshaws now, then Forochel. What do you mean by the "epic line"?

The Epic story line that starts with book 1 and goes to book 13 atm...you get to group with characters such as Gimili, Legolas, Frodo, Elrond, etc... I'm pretty sure you've done some of them... I hope

Right Right, got a little confused, I usually just call then Book 1, Book 2, etc...
I'm on Book 4, the one in the Trollshaws. Ive pretty much just followed the books, Book 1 Bree, Book 2 Lone Lands, Book 3 North Downs, now Trollshaws.

Just hit 42. Think I'm going to spend some time and try to find some pages for legendary traits. How long you think it will take to find a whole book?
I want to finish Of Fig and Leaf and Lore of the Blade
I think you can buy some pages at the auction house and are usually very cheap, not sure about which pages though, I sent you some of them that are not bind on pick-up.
Otherwise it's best to read the class fourms on LOTR online and see where each book pages drop and just farm the heck out of that area.

Yea, you did send me some of the pages, you :rock Want to level up to 45 so I can use both trait slots and have 2 legendary traits. Lore of the Blade is probably my main concern, I need some more melee damage. Pretty sure that drops in Angmar or MM, so I'll farm them when I hit 45.

Anything special about Forochel? Or just a bunch of quests?
Forochel is a really nice spread out wide open outdoor zone, only 1 semi dungeon setting. One of the nice things there is faction, once you get good faction there they have some really nice lvl 42+ armor and recipes. Also its pretty much a solo zone, so you can finish most quests on your own. Once you get faction I can make some really nice light armor for a LM.

Sweet, still trying to farm my last page for sword/staff trait, can't seem to find that one. Once I finish that, I think I'll go over to Forochel.
Edit: Finially got my sword/staff final page, took about 4 hours of farming with a lvl 50 champ helping, that sucked big time. Hit level 45, got class quest. The Rift sounds gnarly, is that where you need raids to do anything???

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES. I'm suprised at how fast I'm leveling up at the higher levels, thought it would take me longer. I want to get to 50 and then head to the rift.
Been doing some PVP'ing the in the Trollshaws...its not as bad as I thought it would be, I've never been a big fan of PVP but LOTR seems to have made it decently fun.
There are some really nice armor rewards too as you gain status in there and a ton of quests to do as well but have to be careful as the player monster's are always looking for the solo/duo groups to kill.
Halfway through 3rd rank!

Yea, was on the horse but would always get knocked off and smashed by a giant on the way. almost get there on horse (following the paths) but then that leads to some sort of tower surrounded by enemies. Then I try to go around the tower and that's where lvl 51 giants and dragons are; can't seem to get past those. How do you get peopel to summon you? advertise in LFF or did you already know someone there?

Question: Do you need to purchase the add-on to even go to moria? Or does it allow you to without the upgrade. I ask because my update has been going all night updating stuff and I haven't purchased the Moria upgrade yet. I'm wondering if it automatically charged me for the upgrade and now it's just downloading.....
tomandshell
12-01-2008, 02:11 PM
You need to pay for the upgrade to access the new areas, but there's more to the upgrade that doesn't involve Moria, with lots of changes to the combat system, new classes, etc. that will impact everyone and require a new download no matter what. But I don't think you can get into Moria/Eregion if you don't pay for it, which is $30.
My wife plays daily, and would have killed me if I hadn't paid for the new area.

My house was locked when I signed on to play when the expansion was out--it had been quite a while.
I had almost given up as everything left to do in the game (pre-Moria) required you to be in a high level group and so I had stalled. Thankfully, much of the stuff in Moria is for solo players and I was able to get up to 58 without too much trouble. The new stuff is a lot of fun.
