McQuarrie really set the tone/look of Star Wars.
Love the Tie Fighter, Y-Wing, and X-Wing models. :rock
 
I also thought it was an interesting read, especially from a prop collector point of view. I always enjoyed reading about behind the scenes stuff, prop and model making.

Indeed.
Today, it's all about CG and 3D printing. Everything is clean and smooth. It's the way moving forward.
But prop and model making was a true art back then. Actually using your hands to build resulted in asymmetrical designs and imperfections. It only gives the model/prop more character. I love it!
 
There is also the thing that many "collect props", but don't have the slightest interest in knowing how they were made in the first place back then...
