One thing I always admired about Sideshow was their openness. Something that as an American native, living in the UK I believed was an integral part of living in a free society, yet something that is all to often abused. I mean I used to work for BAT so I know about lying in business!!!
I really thought Sideshow were a beacon of honesty within the corporate sector. Now however, I find thst my comments have been censored from the newsletter section....no profanity, no dissing the company, just support for Olvidaderos comments re the Buffy/ Angel line. I was as rude as to say that I would sulk and sulk and sulk if the line was killed off.

The web team have told me to read the guidelines. Is sulk an offensive, racist. profane word or have I moaned too much in the past.

Next time I'm home in the valley watch out for the torch and pitchfork guys because now I'm really pissed!!!:emperor

I think possibly the greatness Sideshow has delivered in the past is maybe on the wane. It used to be that its products were specialist enough that it need the "fans" to really get behind a line. Now it seems with Star Wars who'd buy a Yoda Turd if you put it in nice packaging its more of a "take it or leave it" marketing strategy.

A shame really - as my experiences to date with Sideshow had been excellent, but after the Highlander debarcles and now the closure of the Angel Line (I think Buffy had a fair run) I just don't know where they're going. I guess now they have the 50 million WoW kiddies lined up in their sights they don't really need anyone who doesn't collect Star Wars as a customer.

That's lame. I was censored a couple of times in the past for dissing the abandonement of the Buffy/Angel line in favour of SW. I was not offensive at all, but they didn't like my commets, thus didn't approve them. Ah, and they also censored me the word "hell" once (I replied "What? Do I have to say "The Heckmouth??" but didn't approve that one either). I think that's going too far, I don't think that word is offensive at all for the SSC freaks, but hey, it might be that as an Spanish/European, I see this issue from a completely different angle. In Spain people swear all the time on tv, and no one complains, it's just words. So, I gess it's not always been "openness and freedom of speech" on the SSC website. Anyway, I'm grateful that they approved my last message, and even though these days, the negative stuff buries the countless positive qualities of SSC, they will always be the #1 toy company for me.

Well I've left a comment too on the newsletter comments section. Even though I've tried to be as polite as possible, I imagine they'll censor the last section where I say "after this news I have no reason to carry on buying from them."

I encourage those who are bothered about these turn of events to contact Sideshow ether through the comments, or by emailing them direct. It probably won't do much in the grand scheme of things, but you never know. Some times it's worth 'going down fighting'.

Wouldn't you fall out of your chair if they took you idea and actually produced a 'Yoda turd". :lol And your'e probably right, it would sell!

Hey Shai, guys.....feel like I'm back with the cool dudes at the back of class, flicking spit balls at the geeks.
Man that was a long time ago!

Anyway just did an audit:

so far I have bought:

103 Sideshow 12" figures (inc. duplicates I bought my son and daughter)
5 weta statues
7 weta environments

and 8 premium formats including 2 obi wans because the light saber on my exclusive didn't work. (I'm including Jabba & throne as PFs)

plus a few 12" and PFs pending

I think I deserve some respect from the folks up there in Thousand Oaks
I also think my wife deserves canonisation!!!:monkey3

"a beacon of honesty within the corporate sector"??? I'm not quite sure how you ever came to this conclusion. Is there such a thing? I'm at the point where I take everything that any company tells me with a grain of salt. Do you believe the soft drink companies when they imply their products will somehow improve the quality of your life, or fast food chains when they tell you their menu is part of a healthy lifestyle choice?

SS is no different than anybody else. Their main objective is too make money, that's what businesses do, and if that means producing a limited run of 500 "Yoda turds", then that's what your'e going to get. If, along they way, they have to censor a few distractor's, to keep their corporate image intact, then they are going to do it.
For some strange reason, there are people out there who seem to think SS is different from every other company in existance, that they can do no wrong. Like lap dogs sitting at the feet of their masters, hoping for scraps, they hang on every word that come from SS. I am just not willing to do that. It doesn't mean I don't think they are a good company, because I do...I'm just not prepared to canonize them. :D

I knew they censored stuff so this isn't really new news. I mean come on, have you ever seen a negative product review on their site. What is the F'n point of a product review if you are censoring out the bad ones? I only here this or that is the greatest when I know some products with these remarks were terrible. Some people are so far crammed up Sideshow's ass that they refuse to see that they are a business out to make money. Sure their customer service on the average is better than most companies but in my opinion I have been noticing a decline within the past couple of months.
