Happy Valentines everyone!

This is that one day that men and women are allowed to be mushy and talk about love. I'm not talking about love between a man and his Jabba, I mean real love.

I want to hear peoples great stories where their loved one bought them a toy, understood the purchase of a toy, or heck, even broke up over a toy.

I'll start. My wife is actually a little sad right now that she couldn't get me a toy for Valentine's day. She's been searching for weeks for a R4-K5 (Vader's astromech) from Hasbro. She even went so far as to secretly cut out the back of a Saga card from the trash so she would remember who the little droid was. Now that is love!

My girlfriend sent me some frosted cookies for Valentine's Day :) I love 'em!

I sent her flowers and a box full of stuff.

Plus a Victoria's Secret Giftcard to get some lingerie! :rock

I've got my wife nothing!

Nor has she got me anything.

Why?

Because everyday's like Valentine's Day in our house...except for the days when I get a delivery of toys and then it all goes a bit frosty...

My wife and I just had a baby in September, so a small present this year and a card from our daughter was all we did. I personally don’t care for the holiday, but most guys can really only hope to break even that day. Women really have high expectations generally for V-day

I HATE Valentine's Day. If you love someone, you should show them everyday, not just Feb. 14.

The commercialism of this Hallmark holliday makes me sick. The notion that you don't love someone unless you spend a couple hundred dollars on them is disgusting. And the "To get what you want, you better give her what she wants" adds make me want to vomit.

So F Valentine's Day!

Well, I don't hate V-Day as much as you, but I do agree in that it's been blown to an ugly scale and too many people have come to make it one of a handful of days a year they give their loved one all they've got, and I totally believe that you should give 100% everyday.

Well, my V-Day plan was to be with my girlfriend today and proposing to her and being able to call up all of my friends and say hey guess what...a very nice compensation to being away from home when the might Jabba came to me...but alas, a bump in the road was hit and plans have been squashed, so now I'm spending it stuck at home alone with no girlfriend, and mighty Jabba is being dropped at work which is too far away for me to drive to amidst the nice ice storm my area is getting pounded with. Perhaps someday, I'll have a V-Day that doesn't feel dysfunctional.

Having found my Booyah! on the Sideshow Freaks Board was my best Valentine's present ever!!!!!!!!! Or even best present ever, does not even have to be Valentine's day for it. I am the luckiest girl on Earth. He even comes with an instant Star Wars collection and I with an instant Lord of the Rings and little Marvel collection. :)

My Valentine's gift for him was the Star Wars bookends... and I made him a special album that he still needs to receive and I sent him also another prezzie but I cannot say what it is because it is in transit lol.

But he gave me the best present ever. He gave me my own star. My name forever in the International Star Registry in the Andromeda constellation. Talk about the most romantic gift ever. Then he also sent me flowers but since we are having a serious snow, ice blizzard/Nor'Easter... I will not be at work and I doubt that they will deliver my flowers today. So I will get them tomorrow. :chew :chew

After being alone for 9 years... being in love is the best thing ever... especially when you have such a great connection with someone.

Thank you Sideshow and Freaks for bringing love into my life and not only with the wonderful statues that brought us together.

Wow, my thread has gone down the tubes.

Let's try this again. The idea of the thread was to tell stories related to toys that involve your significant other. I guess you can slam V-day all you want, but I would still like to hear some stories.

So, let's hit that reset button and try again.

I would have to agree with you there Roranous. V-Day is just a Hallmark created holiday to sell candy, flowers, and cards. Women like it because they get to feel all special and all that crap; and guys like it because they get some. And believing anything otherwise is being ignorant. Come on, you all know I'm right.

Now that rant is over, I'm going to go cry in the corner and be all alone on V-Day...:monkey2 :monkey2 :emperor

However... and this is a big however... my wife is into it. So I'm screwed. I got her a pink ipod shuffle (which she wants desperately) this year and am taking her to dinner tonight. That pretty much gets me off the hook for sure. I think I'll spring for flowers too... that always works.

You guys just hit on a key to marriage success. Not that it has to be big or expensive (because you can't put a price tag on love right?)... but a surprise gift every once and a while goes a loong way to keeping things spicy! I try and do it at least 5-6 times a year.

My wife is always like... "uhm what is this for?" I say... "It's just because I love you"... and she melts and all is good in the world. She thinks it's thoughtful and romantic. Two things many guys fail at for their ladies.

I was just making a point that you just made in your previous post. It shouldn't be about the day, the gift should not be an obligation. Valentine's Day is an obligation. If you do purchase your wife gifts, it shouldn't be because of this crappy holiday.

The first time my Sweetheart/fiancee bought me a Sideshow Collectible, we were at the comic book store. I took here there so she could look for her Wonder Woman items, which she did find a few. The store also had a 1/6 Hellboy, so i got that off the shelf. As I did some more browsing, i.e. she got one of the store guys to distract me and look at some of the Sideshow figures a bit farther from the register, she went ahead and paid for the figure.

I was like... awww

Actually, when we first started dating, SHE was the first to ask ME how i felt about a girl who had a collection, namely Wonder Women. I said, well, I collect stuff too. And she's since then seen my collection and even asks about new stuff coming out. When we talk about the home we would buy. she's agreed to a collection room for the both of us. I even buy her Wonder Woman collectibles too. I asked, will you ever ask me to stop collecting or get rid of mine? She responded, "will you ever tell me to lose the Wonder Woman items?" i said "No." and she said "then there you go" :)

I've found my perfect woman, and I am not letting her go.

i personally feel its heavily commercialised...everywhere i go i see couples, the women with flowers in hand...most people don't get the idea of it huh?
don't see the point of being extra nice to your special someone just on the day itself..jeez!
anyway my story?it was kickass! i spent the day at home till my date at night.....with the weights!hahah!
and one helluva date it was...it lasted 45 minutes, and it was exhausting

I'm with most of you guys on Valentine's Day. Not a big fan. It was fun in elementary school, handing out Star Wars valentines to everyone in the class and eating WAY too much food with Red #5 in it, but not so great for relationships. Besides I don't like the pressure of gift exchange :lol

Step four put popcorn in bag

Step five put in movie and wait.....

Step four can be dangerous when adding hot butter...

I hate V-Day for one reason and only one. I spent over an hour waiting for a table to eat dinner before I had to get on a flight. Did I get to eat NOOOOOO:monkey4. Damm these people and there V-Day. I am gone all week and my only option is to eat at restaurants and I can't even do that.

I totally agree.

I agree too. Hey, does that mean there are other cheap singles, like me, around that scrounge their pennies for collectibles? That would explain my lack of companionship? Well waddya know. So that's why Vallentine's day means nothing to me. I guess divorce has given me an opportunity to love myself, and everyday IS Vallentines day, sans the flowers and the hoi palloy's indulgences. Maybe it's time for something else.

Took my girl to California Pizza Kitchen for dinner. California Club is delish! Got her a card. She didn't get me anything! :lol But that's ok because she works 12 hour shifts and we do stuff for each other throughout the year.
