As of now, it may just be an early promo sheet. Which means there may be even more juicy Drew Struzan work to come yet....:D:monkey5:monkey5:D I mean, the posters for the last two movies by Struzan had multiple characters in it. It wouldn't be quite in line with them if it was the final one.

Yeah, gonna order this whenever they put it up. Gonna keep a sharp eye on allposters...

WOW! :monkey5 I'm a HUGE Drew Struzan fan and collector! I've collected almost all of his posters that he's painted over the past 25 plus years. I have all of the other Indy posters he's done for the first three movies, and the San Diego Comic Con special poster and booklet from this year. I also have his books about his art, including "The Movie Posters Of Drew Struzan", and the HUGE "Oeuvre" hardcover book, amoung many other collector plates, novels and other items he's painted artwork for. I'm going to order this poster as soon as I can! Awesome work from Drew once again! I can't wait to see the other two posters he's painting! I'm hoping the final "regular" style will show the entire major cast in some way just as he did for the final one-sheet for "The Last Crusade". You score tops in my book once again Drew! You never cease to amaze me each and every time! :D

Guys also check out Rick's Movie Graphics at www.ricksmovie.com to order this poster. But, I'd be suprised if they're price is as good as the Star Wars Shop has it now for $19.99!

I'm so freaking excited for this movie now. I just watched Raiders last night for the first time in about 2 years. What a brilliant, perfect movie! Scene after scene of classic, iconic sequences of all-time great cinema. Indy switching the sandbag for the idol, his slow head turn as the boulder begins rolling, his banter with Marion, the widely diverse cast of characters, the stunts, the music, "I don't know I'm making this up as I go...." AWESOME.

After seeing the teaser poster for Crystal Skull and watching Raiders I am 100% on board for a new movie. If you ignore everything you know about Harrison Ford post-80's (Six Days Seven Nights, Hollywood Homicide, Calista Flockhart, the earring...) and just take him as he is in ROTLA I don't know how you can think he would *not* make a badass old guy.

Its not like Indy was ever about cartwheels and karate kicks. He throws round house punches, crashes vehicles into people and even as a young guy he cheats when he fights! Biting, blowing guys away instead of "dueling" them, hiding in crowds of children, you name it. An old guy can do all of those things, heck you'd *expect* him too.

Indy rocks, Ford rocks, Spielberg and Lucas, yeah they rock. And so does that new poster.

Bring on May 22nd! :rock :zzwhip :rock

I'm probably in for the bust when the final product appears, especially if it's Raiders Indy like GG is indicating. The statue I'll hold out on. I want to see Indy with the motorcycle piece. I was more impressed with that one, than Indy riding the horse.

Still studying the GG Indy on horse statue. Not all that bad, but not quite there compared to the pic it's based on. With the size of the piece compared to its price tag, GG could have done better. I hope we see more pics at Toy Fair.

Those Toys2 figures are ill-timed. The Connery head looks like Frontline's The Rock Connery although not as sharp. I think I remember hearing that SSC's Indy license includes Connery - I think I'll wait for it.

Yeah, it does look better, but as with the majority of GG's statues, there is no texture in the painting, especially with the horse. Looks like Indy is riding on a carousel.

I expect GG to milk this license for all it's worth, so I can be picky about which pieces I pick up. I'm surprised they launched the line with two Crusade pieces anyways. I'm more interested in Raiders.

I don't if it's just me or the angle of the photo, but that horse's front legs look awfully small and out of proportion in relation to the rest of its body. Horses happen to be my favorite animal and I'd really rather see him on the Arab from Raiders. That was a horse worthy of Indy!

I agree though... Honestly Indy isn't too bad, but something about the horse just seems toy-ish. Maybe 'cause it's smooth as glass... And I'm no equine anatomy expert, but I think Mudshark is right about the legs. I generally don't like to criticize sculpts though, they really did a damn fine job! It could be a LOT worse.

A poster in another thread was hinting at this -- a PF from a major line in '08 that won't be a huge surprise but is a surprise that they're starting the line this way.

The hair is awful on the bust. It's not noticeable enough. Indy didn't have a buzz cut.

The horse statue looks better on the left, but the face close-up just makes it look worse. Gentle Giant is letting me down.

I think the first Indy would definitely be a well advertised PPO, maybe during SDCC... seems like a time when they could get a lot of interest. After that it may depend on what sort of reaction the figures get.

LOTR still has PPO events, even though it usually takes a long time to sell out.

I'm fairly confident that SS INDY will present itself around ToyFair time. I mean, we've all seen the sculpt, so revealing the full 1/6th figure is hardly a surprise. Plus, if the PPO is in Feb then we might even have our Indys in hand by the time the movie opens.

It would be in Sideshow's best interest to mine the anticipation of this film early...in the event that this goes the way of TPM.

I'd love to see a whole 'Raiders' line announced and PPOd before the new film opens.

The Relic Hunter jacket is a bit frumpy, the leather's thick, has a large collar and ugly zipper. I'll wait till I see what SS comes up with. I agree 1000%......but if you want REAL leather, there are no other reasonable alternatives, other than Toys McCoy($$$$) but I think if you alter the jacket correctly, it can be worth it!.....I think IF you remove the inner lining(make it less bulky), shorten the collar, remove the zipper and age/weather the jacket(weathering on leather always looks better than synthetic material"IMHP")...You will have a GREAT looking jacket. After all, the jacket & fedora are the most important features on Indy, everything else you can kinda fudge a little and get away with it(In my OWN opinion)

I have faith Sideshow will do an impressive job on Indy. The head sculpt is great, so I don't see why they would drop the ball on this one. Why just make repeat mistakes others have made? The secondary characters may not stand the scrutiny of collectors, but if they fail with Indy they may as well throw the license down the gurgler. Scale is the word galactiboy used and let it be so. No oversized zippers, whip, or head. Get the hat right and make the coat fit.

Here's what I've done with my Toys Indy... Weathered the jacket, removed the zipper (way out of scale) and did the water treatment thing to get the sleeves how I wanted them. Weathered the hat, shirt and pants, put on new, much narrower bag strap, new whip, and put the whole thing on a Dragon body because Toys articulation sucked. Smutzed around with the face a bit too.

But I think the jacket still looks too bulky. There is a guy who sells custom Indy's on ebay sometimes, and his jackets are made out of waxed cotton. His jackets look perfect. Exactly the right weight, not too bulky, lots of wrinkles in the right place, and perfect weathering. I'd take something like that over real leather any day.

[QUOTE=HigHurtenflurst;704810]But I think the jacket still looks too bulky.

It ALL hinges on the body type you use......I use a RAH 301 body(Slim) it makes the jacket hang better. It's the same LOGIC fashion designers apply; The skinnier the model, the better the clothes hang.My rule of thumb is: The bulkier the jacket, or clothes, the thinner the figure should be, to compensate for the added density. A muscular body is wrong for this jacket(in my HONEST opinion) Skinny is better.

Entropy Chicken
01-22-2008, 11:00 PM
Good observations mindbook. I like the RAH body too but think it's a bit short. I really like the Hot Toys body myself. Do you think it's too muscular?

I'm actually worried about SS's fedora. Like the jacket it changes a bit from movie to movie. I've got an Adventurebuilt one coming to me... sometime, been waiting almost a year now and after doing research on it I really don't have much faith that Sideshow is going to be obsessive enough to get the taper, the turn and the softness right.

Good observations mindbook. I like the RAH body too but think it's a bit short. I really like the Hot Toys body myself. Do you think it's too muscular?

The legs on the RAH 301 figure can be extended with the "O" rings(included) The only muscular body I use is Truetype 38.....Is this a Hot Toys product?

Why is it Sideshow anounces the Reservoir Dogs license and has three figures up for preorder a week later while Indy was announced six months ago and still no pics?

This is simply complaining, I know.

Nice job. The hat especially looks wonderful weathered - we often saw it covered in dust. For the SS version I'd prefer a plastic hat that keeps its shape to a felt or soft hat that may look awful - memories of the Kenner 12" Indy!

Maybe Sideshow is gonna surprise us with several figures at once, like they did with the Bond line long ago. A blitz!

Indiana, Marion and Toht!

I know it's probably a dream, but it would get the line going right from the start, rather than rolling out one at a time each month. If they do it one at a time, and they start in Feb (Toyfair) that means we'd only get 3 before the Jones flick opens.

I'd be really surprised if we get anything other than ROTLA Indy and his Dad, plus new movie Indy and Mutt. Much as I'd love, and would buy, a Mola Ram or Lao Che figure, I can't see them having much appeal beyond real hardcore collectors. I think Sideshow learnt it's mistake with the Bond line, where the edition sizes got smaller and smaller until it eventually folded.

But if they do Toht I want the exclusive to be a 'melting' head!

Technically they announced that Reservoir Dogs license many months ago and then for some reason made another announcement recently, as if it were news. But anyway, the answer is that Reservoir dogs is a very minor line for them (there's only 300 of the exclusives made, for example), while Indy stands a good chance of doing very well for them, especially if the new movie is well received. I would hope they're taking the time to do it right.

Here's hoping that this will be the definitive Indy figure for years to come. There are lots of good customs out there, but they're all expensive and they all seem flawed in one way or the other. We know they have a great sculpt, so it's just down to the outfit (and body) and paint.

I'm thinking that for an ROTLA Indy, the Idol and headpiece will need to come with the REGULAR edition...My thought is the exclusive will be the sandbag...or maybe the staff for the headpiece...although that will probably come with 'Indy in desert attire'...so I think the sandbag is a good bet...or maybe the torn up map to the temple? or both! :rock

Indy used 2 handguns in Raiders. The Smith & Wesson which is my fav, and the Browning HP semi-auto for the bar fight. The Browning would be a good exclusive.
