Had they not done the expansion pack of probe droids for the 12" Maul, this exclusive would be awesome. Instead, it looks just the same--but with one instead of three. That will convince some people to go with the regular instead. Hopefully, those that want the exclusive should have no problem.

I kind of like the exclusive. :D It's a great design for a probe droid, and it's a good sculpt. It's essentially an extra statue.

Don't know if it's worth the extra $$$ over the exclusive, though. I'm going to comfort myself with the knowledge that I'll be collecting those awesome points, however.

Streamlined preorder was a piece of cake, I ordered on dial up with no delay at all.

If the regular is similarly priced, i can't imagine there will be huge discounts from the retailers depending on the ES since Maul is quite popular.

I do agree that he doesn't really lend himself to an exclusive but at least they could have done a partial battle droid or something else related to Naboo and the actual base that Maul comes with. With an exclusive like that the ES should have been 500 tops.

Well, they gave it a slightly lower than usual edition size and created some buzz with the new order method. (Typical SW PF ES being 1000-1500. I don't think we'll ever see triple digits again in this line.) The others have taken days to sell out--maybe this will go sooner.

That's the only thing that surprises me here. Leia is an exquisite PF in every respect. Perfect sculpt, really good paint apps, superb costume, and an awesome exclusive. I would have expected a faster sell-out for her as well (not THIS fast, but still).

Loki wasn't planning on getting it, but he told starwarsgeek7 that he would get an order in for him just in case there weren't any left at noon. Once geek reported that he was successful in placing an order of his own, Loki was free to cancel the one he had reserved for him. So he was being helpful.

But I can promise you that there were many others ordering for less altruistic purposes.

I think a normal order would have been slower but Maul is one of the most popular characters ever. Despite his short screen time people are just drawn to the character. I find him to be a character I just want to know more about. These types of things just make him such a draw.

Once geek reported that he was successful in placing an order of his own, Loki was free to cancel the one he had reserved for him. So he was being helpful..

It depends on the retailer. Some require a non-refundable deposit, some will charge you a cancellation fee, and some have no penalty at all.

I get all my Sideshow stuff direct, so I'm not the most qualified to help you with this question.

No, okay. Ehem. See, most e-tailers don't particularly like it when you cancel a preorder, but they are people (and often collectors) just like us, so if you just drop them an e-mail and say why you need to do it, usually you'll have no problems.

Also, some of them have a stated cancellation policy on their FAQs, so be sure to check them out. And refer to the Dealers sticky too.

Just checked the policies for Dark Shadow, Fireside, and Razor's Edge. 5% cancellation fee for DS and F, 15% for RE. Maul would be a no brainer if it weren't for the fact that I'm expecting other huge announcements this year. Hmmmm.

It probably depends on the item to a certain extent. If you cancel a stink bomb of an overproduced and unwanted item--particularly at the last minute--they are going to be stuck with it. That's not very nice of you when you have committed yourself to a purchase and they have placed their orders accordingly.

I'm so glad I missed that. Anyway, for items such as this, most retailers will have little problem selling it so they may wave the cancellation fee. It also helps if you're a regular customer or not.

Anyway, I'm more than happy to have my Maul coming to me for under $240. You can't beat that price and Adam is a great guy as well. I'm going to hold onto the SS exclusive for a while in case someone here can't get it for some reason.

And Dyp****, all is forgiven. I didn't expect you to know that I was getting it for someone else. But it's not like I said "Got mine, can't wait to flip it to some poor loser who wasn't able to get one." So, if you aren't able to secure one off the wait list, you can have it. :D
