Does anybody have a clue as to what their next figure may be? Are they even still around? Does anyone know when Superfest is? They usually drop it there. Will Guttenberg be involved?
I was a little bummed by the Deckard last year, mostly because I think the Crime Cure Alex (V.2), the Travis Bickle, and the Mr. Torrance are the BEST FIGURES IN MY COLLECTION. Deckard was too bland for my taste and looked a little too much like Steve Guttenberg--and I'm not droppin' $300 on head for my Lobo Marunga custom from "Don't Tell Her It's Me" (though I'd pick one up for $100 just to complete the CRM circle). Plus, there was already a Deckard out there, which I believe is an adequate version (even w/o the Frontline head) and certainly a great 1/6 figure from the early days of 1/6 one-shot drool worthy toys.
One insight into the small machine that is CRM Toys is that we now see that they are willing to do characters that have been done before. Saying that, we might be seeing something that's already on our shelves and when you factor in that it's carrying a $250-$300 price, it's easy to get a little pessimistic.
The characters that CRM Toys tend to pick all have that intense, symbolic, pop-culture goodness to them. All the characters are murderous in some way and the first three where pretty much evil incarnate. With the exception of Deckard, they were all characters that wouldn't call for an entire line, just a one-shot.
So any guesses yet? I have a feeling we might see another Scarface. He's really the only character that meets all the above criteria--evil, pop culture tasty, symbolic and has that kind of star magnitude. And, sorry Sideshow and How2work, no one's really done Pacino justice in 1/6 form. Odds 1:10
Staying within the same qualifications, I wouldn't surprised to see a Godfather figure--Pacino or Brando. Both have the star power to command a single figure from the first two films. Odds 1:50
Another guess would Mad Max or the Road Warrior. I feel like that would be a pretty obvious choice to follow Deckard. Figures have been made, but not in the high-end collectible market. Odds 1:50
Next I'm going to throw Hannibal Lector into the mix. Not really an interesting looking dude, but throw in the straight jacket, mask, and a wheeled cart--I think it would be really cool. Odds 1:100
And my long shot is Lo-Pan from "Big Trouble in Little China." I can't even go into how cool that would be. And given CRM's excellence in tailoring, we might be blessed with Lo-Pan in '07! Odds 1:1000
