View Full Version : Just thought of something in regards to ANH figures in 2007

At this point I think at most we will get maybe 1 or 2 (perhaps as "many" as 3) figures from ANH this year... during the big 30th Anniversary.
It's mid-February and we have yet to hear a single ANH figure announced. It looks like it won't happen at Toy Fair. So what's next? C4? That's in May. Any figure(s) announced then likely won't ship until the 4th Quarter or even 1st Quarter of 2008.
In short, I think ANH is going to get the shaft in the year that is its 30th Anniversary.
But, hey, at least we'll have a gazillion figures from the weakest film in the OT, right? :monkey5
(Calm down pollyannas... I love the Jabba stuff as much as the next person, but enough is enough. No more ROTJ for a while, please)

Unless it involve Palps or Vader. :D

Well, yeah... those two pretty much transcend that one film.
However, I'd truly rather see the ANH version of Vader.

Personally, I think the 30th Anniversary of the first film is a good excuse to celebrate Star Wars in it's entirety, not just one episode. I mean, we don't really celebrate the Anniversary of ROTJ or AOTC!

Remember there are 3 months till C4, 5 months till SDCC and several months after that. There will be plenty of ANH stuff and if you don't think so I'll have a big plate of crow setting ready for ya.

:lol gotta agree with josh.
ESB rules in my book and we have 1 figure so far. I'll probably start focusing on OT now and may pare my collection to that eventually but I also don't want to part with some of my PT stuff but won't collect any more of it except Palp... and maybe Mundi, but that's it, I'm done with PT, bring on the OT... please!

ESB rules in my book too, but not accordingly to George himself. From Chud.com during a publicists award ceremony, GL was talking about the publicist for Empire back in it's day.
Lucas, giving the award to Sid Ganis, who was the in-house publicist on Star Wars: Episode Five - The Empire Strikes Back, said, "Sid is the reason why The Empire Strikes Back is always written about as the best of the films, when it actually was the worst one."

Lucas plays the press and fanboys like a harp. It's actually quite hilarious.

Depends. There is a chance that they are not showing them at TF but will still announce them in between TF and CIV. Not to mention that if they do a Jabba style release of something ANH (Millennium Falcon diorama, Cantina diorama, etc) it will more than make up for it.

Remember, it's technically not even the 30th Anniversary yet, not until May, soo...
And besides, I'm sure we'll see something very soon.
However, I'm already celebrating, just ordered this today:

I too have a feeling the Dejarik Holochess Set Expansion Pack is the beginning of a flood of ANH figures.

Nice to see LEGO showing some ANH love. They know it's the 30th anniversary of Star Wars. But I don't count SS out just yet.

I definitely won't count SS out yet, but I do find it disheartening that it's halfway through February and all we've heard of is a creature pack and a chess set...SS needs to hit us with something substantial, and soon!!:chew :emperor

actually I liked ROTJ the most..
Depending on the mood I am in, my favorites fluctuates between ESB and ROTJ as my favorite, and as a 32 year old "OG-OT fan" my favor does tend to swing towards ROTJ more often.

Its only February.. they will announce about 10 more figs this year and I am sure a lot of them will be ANH.

Actually, I'm 33 and I also like ROTJ the best.
Now, do I think it's the best piece of filmmaking or has the strongest story of any of the films in the series? No, I don't; in that regard, I'd give Eps Iv & V the edge.
However, ROTJ featured my favorite characters in the entire saga (Jabba, Fett & Palpatine) as well as my favorite location (Jabba's Palace).
Being a [i]Star Wars[/i' fan to me is less about the actual narrative and more about loving the incredibly rich and diverse universe that all the folks at Lucasfilm were responsible for creating for us to play around in. For this reason, I thoroughly enjoy the prequel trilogy for its dense background shots and two-second-of-screen-time aliens, despite the clunky writing and acting.
Now, bring on the Emperor's throne, Sideshow!

That's kind of how I look at SW. It's all the characters, creatures, places, and events that make SW special. When I watch it I'm not looking for Oscar winning acting but I am looking for a hell of a good time. Which I get and so for me SW is about kicking back and enjoying the ride.
