2 Star wars announcements? [Archive]

To me, an announcement would be for something completely new like the SW diorama. I can't see Maul or the VCD being an announcement. Those are more like new products. I could be wrong, but I'm hoping they have a good surprise for the last day.

So as of right now theres NOTHING new for LOTR 12 inch and only the chess table for Star Wars 12 inch right?

yeah but it was an announcement because it was the start of a new line and these were the 1st pieces

I think we have seen everything we are going to see. There are two new Star Wars items the Diorama and the VCD. The other VCDs have fell under SW so why would this one be different. and if you look at the whole list pretty much everything matches up so like I said we have seen it all , the only question is what pre-orders are what days.

but SS have held back the WoW announcement so why wouldn't they hold back another SW announcement
I guess you right I never noticed that the WOW wasn't in the list, everything else pretty matched up I must have missed that one. Ok maybe we do but I am not getting my hopes up.

I wonder if we'll get a new 12" announced, it seems to be lacking from the announcements but who knows. Until Snowbunny Padme makes her appearance, she is looming to be a "new" annoucement though.....

And personally I hope SS does not consider that the new announcement as we the fans voted for that figure. So let's hope we get some ANH figs or maybe a Vader :monkey3

Yeah I hate to be negative, but I feel underwhelmed besides the Medicom announcements. But it also makes sense to have bigger and better announcements at CIV and San Diego, that's where their bread and butter is. TF seems to be more for Wal-Marts, Targets, etc bigger retailers which cater more towards mass marketed figures. They don't carry SS stuff, local comic shops and toy stores are where it's at for SideShow.

This Toy Fair is like last year with the 12" line, they announced the Chess Table PPO, just like Mace Windu last year, we're seeing nice pics of the item from the show, just like Mace last year, and we'll order it after the show, like last year, they're pretty much staying with the pattern of last year, I don't know why so many people are so stunned by how Toy Fair is going down for the Star Wars line.

Besides, the notion of announcing/releasing an accessory with a single base figure to go with it is beyond befuddling. :confused:

I have to agree. Almost like the whole of the SS team went on holiday for a week and left a trainee in charge .

I think thats all... no more ? in the New Products page. And guys, you all know the "chess" figs will be coming eventualy. Who cares if they announce them now or in 6 months... they will come.

I agree. I think announcing the chess table at this point was a misstep. People can't get fired up about it for obvious reasons. Even if SSC does announce a figure to with it later this week... I still think they approached this bass-ackwards!

Sideshow usually "gets" us... their fanbase. But this one was a head scratcher.

Because they know many are on the edge to get a great Chewie and other OT figures, it's possible they will accompany this with Chewie but he needs a little more work before they reveal him to us, this is a nice little way of saying thank you for your patience SW Collectors, your dreams are going to come true, it'll just take a little more time. It's also possible LFL is stepping in on how things are revealed, so if they have OT characters coming but LFL wants to unveil them strategically, SSC may have got the go ahead from LFL to show this off because it gets the minds of the collectors working and scheming, but it does not directly address what else is coming.

Now I'd love to jump to the defense of this set, and I will be getting it, but I too question what exactly this is expanding onto when we have nothing really to go with this set. I think it would have been more then fair for at LEAST R2. I also do not buy that anyone at LFL is saying how to release this stuff.

Well, I was just reading Ask Sideshow answers, and they stated they will be at C4 and have plans for that, and also stated that other announcements may not be far off from TF for the SW line. It just occurred to me too, that if they have Chewie, R2 or 3PO to go with the set, it could be that the means to make them is up for patent, like the Hot Toys muscular body, and rather than push out too much product at once, they put the chess out now to spread out the merch and the other figures could be announced when the patents come through, which would somewhat make sense not to even have protos at TF if they're legal measures to be taken with designs.

I'm on the fence about the Chess set. I mean, do I really want my ultra-cool figures to be sitting around watching smaller figures on a little round table?

THINK ABOUT IT!!!! It's a little Kafka-esque.

Besides, who here, when dreaming of their super-neat real-fur, double tall, ultra-accessorized, and masterfully crafted Chewie, really really hoped to pose him sitting at a little table!!? I'd rather have him up, with 3PO on his back and a bowcaster in his hand, not playing a board game.

Well, I wish the announcement would be another Premium Format like Chewie... but I don't see this to happen... anyway I still think that they are going to announce something to go with the chess set as they have the preorder for it next friday and not so many people will get it If no figure is announced... I will buy it but that's just me... however, as somebody said in this thread, If they made the holo chess expansion pack It's even kinda useless announce 3po, r2 or chewie cause they sit at that table so the holochess is the expansion pack of these 3 12" figures...
