View Full Version : ToyFair 07: DCD 13" Figures!
So far they've shown another Batman (LOVE the classic costume!):

And a change to the Nightwing head:

I will be very happy to add BOTH to my DCD 13" lineup!

Not bad!I do dig the classic Batman outfit!!!
I wonder why DC went with this odd 13'' scale...I know there's people who gripe about the .2 inch difference between Medicom's and Sideshow's figures but I've been getting more impressed by DC Direct's large scale figures but I'm turned off by the taller-than-necessary scale.

Not sure why they did but I display the DC 13" line by themselves so it doesn't matter to me. LOVE THIS LINE!

The Classic Batman will accompany the Classic Superman well...I'm wondering if the "Classic" Components will follow some of the other modern looks...The Nightwing mask looks removable now....Still don't like it. Might order the Classic Superman and eventually nab the Classic Bats...

I'll definitely get the Classic Batman. Nightwing comes with both a blue and black mask.

Classic Batman looks worth getting, if the belt and boots look better.

The boots do look a little weird. I think they made changes to the first Batman, didn't they? I know they made his cape longer.
I can't wait to see some actual pics from Toy Fair.

Well both Batman and Nightwing are posed poorly in the above pics IMO. I have faith that the boots will be great since they have been on all of the released figures to date.

I wonder why DC went with this odd 13'' scale...
supposidly it was alex ross' idea. his theory was that most 12 inch action figures have huge heads. his solution was not to have the head made smaller(in scale), but to make the body huge.

That Batman is rad. Superfriends nostalgia will likely compel me to get him.

The Batman looks a little dumpy? Is this a different body, or maybe just an odd shot? I definitely like the classic look of this version.

Yea, he kinda does. This is obviously supposed to be the Neal Adams style Batman from the 70's, who in my opinion is the definitive Batman. But the large hulking body doesn't quite fit the athletic build that Adams gives him.

More crying about size eh? Who cares, 13" are fine for these. I mean I don't display ALL my toys in 1 place so they don't need to match, it's not like I've gotta match em' up and make sure they coordinate like a wardrobe. I love the Classic Bats, moreso than the regular one. I just wish we'd get West Batman!

Classic Batman looks great, I wish I bought the first one though, I prefer the all black costume.
The Nightwing figure doesn't look any better then before. His head is still too small.

I was okay with the previous Nightwing, but this one looks better. Although the removeable mask looks bulky. They did it perfectly with GL, so hopefully it will improve before release.
I like this alternative Batman too - it does look more Superfriends than Neal Adams, but it's a good companion to the more modern Rossian one they've already done.

Apparently the one in black will be a short packed version - 1 of that for every 4 of the other.

Damn now that looks good! I'll now have to get a Batman figure to go with her.
I guess the black costume is an "incentive variant" available to retailers at a ratio of 1:4. For every 4 blue/grey Batgirl figures ordered, retailers may order one black version. I'm not thrilled with variants and incentives being introduced into the line but I want the blue/grey version anyways.

I wonder if you took apart one and placed it on an HT Body whether or not it'd work....the Head would be larger but then so are Sideshow's right? Interesting....

Wow. That Batgirl is freakin' sweet. That is probably gonna be one of the nicer looking DCD 13" figures. The body isn't too bad looking for her. Could care less about the Variant. From what I recall, the closest she ever was to that all black costume was in ThrillKiller which looks nothing like that. The only drawback will be her being the same size as Catwoman, Wonder Woman, etc... as long as they do what they did for the males and just use one body. But still. Wow.

I'm going to have to have both. Hopefully there will be some pics of her with Batman or Nightwing so we can see scale. They wouldn't be stupid enough to make her a full 13" would they?

I like the classic Batman, but something looks a little off. Like his legs are to short or something. I'm sure its just the pic though.
And Batgirl looks pretty damn good!

Not that you can really tell scale, but the DCD 13" Catwoman looks ginormous. Probably because of the tiny head. But hopefully a comparatively small, slim female like Bab's won't be as tall as Batman. Hopefully. I cetainly hope the female bodies aren't 13". I guess it would work when they get around to Big Barda.
Nice looking figure. I'm looking forward to this. It's a nice compliment to the late silver age Batman. I like that she's wearing heels and carrying a purse because that's what (60's) Batgirls do, ya know.
I could care less about the black costume, so for a change it's a variant I won't be chasing down. If they wanted to do a variant I don't know why they wouldn't of used the purple suit from the TV or dark blue from the comics. that one likely would have been worth chasing for a lot of fanboys, me included.
It also looks to be the most proportionately correct figure to date of either sex. I hope this is a trend.
Interesting to see what will be next in female figures. No Wonder Woman or Supergirl yet. Makes you wonder what the jointing on the base bodies look like when two very popular characters don't make the first cut.

I don't recall seeing this posted: http://www.wizarduniverse.com/magazine/toyfare/003413952.cfm A little more coverage from Wizard. I like the way Batman looks in the pic.. This really looks like a winner to me.
Also in a larger higher resolution image "Black" Batgirl may turn out to have a dark gray bodysuit. Can't really say. They have a picture of the female base body now. It's 3/4 shot avoiding showing the legs. Hmmmm.
Anyway I see a ton of DCD stuff that looks interesting in 1/12th and 13" sizes. Also showing pics of the new Marvel Toys "Legendary Comics Heroes" and I want Conan and Judge Dredd now. I need to stop looking at everything.

My interest in these is primarily for bash material and customs. The Superman I picked up measures in right at 13 and 1/2 inches tall, which in 1/6th scale equals 6 foot 9. There are several actors who are that tall, but none that can pull off the build on the DC figures. The DC figure is to tall to do a true 1/6th Hulk Hogan or Lou Ferrigno, who could fit the body type, but not the height (both 6'5' = 12 7/8ths in 1/6th). I have been hoping to get ahold of a few of the SS tall bodys used on Jaws and Kurgan, but can't afford what those figs are selling for, just to bash them into something else. Whoever came up with the idea at DC for this scale figs needs their head examined.

Figures.com has some photos up of the display, you can slightly make out the scale of Catwoman and the others in the background here:

Here's the full gallery:

The females look slightly smaller, maybe by a half inch.
I'll see if I can find another picture that's more level with the figures.

Superhero Times has a lot more photos posted. Batman looks great! So does Aquaman. I'm not that crazy about Catwoman. And the Flash's head looks really small on that giant body.

It looks like they resculpted the bust area on the females based on the Catwoman. Which is good because she looked bizarre in the previous promo pictures. Batgirl/woman looks fantastic as does the Shazam, which should be a production piece. I can't wait for him this week!
Classic Batman rocks too!

Fantastic Sculpt Andy! I'm going to try and buy this one, I had to pass on the black Batman and Green Lantern, but I won't on this one.
I was wondering if you can give us a sense of size on the female figures, are they 13" tall or a little shorter?
