View Full Version : Legolas PF: Concerns about the bow

I used to think that the perfect Legolas PF would be him holding his bow at the ready (with the exclusive being him holding two arrows in the bow at once).

However it seems like that bowstring could be a nightmare in a 1/4 scale statue. Imagine if it broke. The statue would for the most part be ruined. Should SS forego an iconic archery pose and have the bow hanging on his back? Should he be wielding his two knives instead? Discuss.

The Bow held at ready is a must, in my opinion. The bowstring can be made of a slightly "elastic" material, which would be able to tolerate the position indefinitely. I don't see it as a problem at all.

I wouldn't want a Legolas PF with him holding the knives. Not the way I envision the character.

i have ssweta galahrim archer statue and the bow string gives so as to attach it to the main body...theres no problem with a 1/6 bow so 1/4 should be as safe as well.

Lurtz exclusive has a 1/4 bow... of course, it isn't under tension. :D

Actually a fantastic way to do it would be to use a very thin wire which could be painted nicely, or a different material such as a very thin fiber. At that scale, you have a lot more options.

The Legolas statue and Galadhrim Archer both have bows with tension, I have yet to hear of any problems with them.

because it would be polystone bow, they could "simulate" tension without using a type of string that would actually put tension on the polystone. seems fine to me and if the string broke, so what, use another string.

If they want to sell out it better have a bow. I think the Lurtz bow looks fine.

I don't see this being a problem. They can use a string that is strong enough to handle it with the prospect of being bumped a little along the way.

Personally I wouldn't mind a pose like this:

It'd be a cool look while removing a issue with the Bowstring. Maybe even the look where he is reaching into the quiver to grab an arrow....
