View Full Version : Who would buy 1/6 scale Clone wars animated figures?

I really loved the Animated style of Star wars Clone Wars and was really upset when Hasbro decided to can the assortment with the lame excuse that the product was not in high demand. When I heard that Snow bunny Padme won the Expanded Universe competition, I thought she would be done in the Clone wars style as an animated version. If Sideshow were to announce Clone wars figures, I would be all over it like white on rice! How about the rest of you guys?

Not me. Id rather them done in a style compatible with already released merchandise.

I liked the cartoon style, but I don't think it would translate well into 1/6 figures, the clothes have a style to them that you can't duplicate in real cloth, only solid molds.

I agree, I think it could be cool, but probably wouldn't work in 1/6 scale. And since Snowbunny is going to be a straight portman likeness it seems pretty unlikey we'll see anything this wild in the future.

But still holding out for McQuarrie concept figures :drool

I'd rather see realistic versions rather than stylized versions. Besides, they wouldn't work will in that medium.

Would rather them stick with the realistic style.

No love for Clone Wars? damn........ I think the cloth clothing wouldn't be much of a hurdle for SS and the stylistic hands, weapons and heads would be the only animated style parts.

MaulFan

It's not so much making the clothing into cloth, but more that the clothes in Clone Wars were stylized by the cartoonist and cloth would have to be glued or treated to permanent get those creases that mark CW style, PFs could do it in solid polystone, but then that's in essence the GG maquette line and that'd be crossing lines I'm sure.

The CW animated series is just about my favorite aspect of many favorite aspects to the prequel era.

However, I don't think you'll see any 1:6 scale CW animated figures because Lucas Licensing has told all thier licensees to end the CW animated products in 2007.
This is likely the catalyst for the creation of the GG SW saga animated maquettes as well as the ACME SW saga character keys.
My assuption is that they don't want any marketing conflicts with the new TV series. However, I think it's a bad idea to end something that is so popular.

This needs to be made in 1/6th scale, realistic even. This is the coolest EU design that feels more like the movies than anything else. (Probably becuase it was in the original SW screenplay.)

Yes, everything you said is right theropod... well It is true that Gentle Giant is going to be involved in the creation of the Star Wars 3d Animation Maquettes so I think next 2 years will be focused in producing maquettes from this new serie...maybe in the future, we'll get to see Mace, Dooku and Sidious been made in the Clone Wars Maquette line, who knows? Or maybe we'll be surprised by Gentle Giant at Toyfare...

I sure hope so. If anything I hope to see a Shaak Ti and maybe a Durge, while Mace, Dooku and Sidious could possibly transcend into the "other line" of animated maquettes. (Just as long as they retained the same style.)

Primarily though I would love to see Shaak Ti, Mace and Dooku. I think I would be disheartened if I realized there wouldn't be a CW Shaak Ti in 2007. While you could call her a "saga" character, she really didn't establish a place in the movies so that's kind of a rediculous concept. Her story in the Clone Wars though is significant. A CW maquette is the only justifiable opportunity for Durge to reach a maquette form.

I'm ready to form a one man picket line at the GG offices if they don't announce any more CW maquettes. :lol

I would LOVE a 1/6 scale figure next to all my character keys. I think those would go together. It will never happen, but its a nice thought to display them together

I would, they have what I call.....STLYE. Gendys rendition of them was awesome, BUT only characters that were in the show. The CW animated series was waaaayyy better than 1 and 2, and the style is killer. I want 12" of them, I don't give a crap about fitting them in, the restof my toys will learn to conform to the animated style or die!

I want the realistic version of the clone war characters in 1/6th. Whilst the maquettes look nice - they're just not my cup of tea

Count me as another who wants "realistic" versions of the Clone Wars animated characters - which we're already getting with the Asajj Ventress alternate head and Snow Bunny Padme (which reminds me - Sideshow totally ignored the results of its own poll!)

If they only do one other Clone Wars animated character, please let it be Obi-Wan in clone armor!

Well, we have Obi Wan in Clone armour coming this month from Gentle Giant, so as the Gentle Giant statues are in scale with the Sideshow 12" figures I don't see Sideshow to produce a 12" Obi in Clone armour... the Statue is great.

I have no problem buying 1/6 characters from CW, but they have to be in the same style as all the others. Just like how Asajj is and Snow Bunny Padme will be. We have the GG Maquettes for the animated style and they are great. Leave 'em how they are but get us more of both :D

Well it didn't work with Asajj and don't get me wrong it does look good but many people didn't like it because something was missing and after watching the cartoon again it hit me..it's the style of the drawing that makes many of them cool,on the other hand a realistic Durge or any jedi in armor is something I will preorder any day.:chew

I didn't have a problem with Asajj. She looked cool this way as will Padme. I like the animated style just done more on statues than 1/6th figures. So SS can continue to do EU/CW Figures just do them in real life styles than the cartoon.

I prefer the cartoony versions. We get tons and tons of real life looking ones, I want something to mix it up. It's boring if everythings the same. That's my thing though. It's like, why not throw in some spice?

I have no clue why Hasbro decided to cancel the animated figures. I guess Lucas (selfish bastard) did not want to have to pay royalties to Gendy for the Clone Wars style.

When SSC runs out of core movie figures, then they can focus on animated style figures.

Personally I'd buy a few of my favorites but I wouldn't keep them Animated style. I much prefer the realistic stylings but love the costuming of the CW characters. I'd probably buy a couple of figures from the existing line and place the new CW clothes on them, an expensive Kitbash but its what I prefer. I wouldn't be opposed though to a "Clone Wars Design" addition every now and then like they are doing with Ilum Padme....

Well, it's not quite the same as a fully poseable figure. But I guess when SS does Ep II Obi-Wan and a clone trooper, it'll be pretty easy to customize one.

They are neat, but I have no interest. The 4" line serves them best because the style can be easier to present in all plastic.

I rather see some expanded universe figures. GG maquettes have the CW covered.

Mara Jade or Quinlan Vos!

Ditto, I feel the line met a premature end. However, in '08 we will probably be up to our necks in animated style figures from Hasbro based on the new show. They mentioned recently in a Q&A that they are already working on them.

Have you picked up the animated style Bust-ups from GG? Often overlooked, the Bust-ups line has been one of my favorite inexpensive collectibles throughout the years.

Cool as the animated stuff is though, I feel Sideshow should stick with the same style for the entire line.

While I wouldn't really want figures in the animated style, I am all for EU figures done in a normal style, like Asajj was handled, and Snowbunny Padme looks to be that way too. I would prefer one, consistent look for the line.

With the way Sideshow organizes the lines...they would just add these in to the existing ones...oh s#!t...what if they do one for a Comic-Con pre-order to commemorate the release of the cartoon?

DAMN! I hope not.

Yep! That animated style is the key, but if the molds were good and if it wasn't overboard on price, I'd be interested. The animated series has a style of it's own and would look cool filling out a 12" collection. Somehow, I see Hasbro picking up the reins on these and offering something like thier larger Marvel Unleashed line or Mattel's larger DC/Justice League line that can be produced in mass at retail. Read along the $10-$15 range and I'd consider a collection if they had decent articulation and weren't just static maquettes.
