TPM Obi-Wan in '07?

I was visiting Rebelscum today and they've posted an interview relative to the Darth Maul figure and part of this interview was this:

RS: Sure, Darth Maul gets to fight Qui-Gon when ever he feels like it, but how long are we going to have to wait for him to have a buddy or another sparring partner?

Well of course they are going to make TPM Obi-Wan eventually. I kind of hope its next year so we can get Old Ben this year.

Since there are so many versions of some Sar Wars characters, I'd like to see one version of that figure every year. Like the Luke released in '06 was the Jedi version. '07 could be a Tatooine Luke next year the Bespin fatigues version. Same with Obi-Wan. This year the Guiness version... next year TPM. :D

I have to agree with the leading comments that if we get an Obi-Wan Kenobi this year it'll be the Alec Guinness version and that we'll see the TPM version next year, maybe. It all depends on how bundled they want to make their releases, there is a chance that they might want to release some AOTC versions like Anakin and Dooku where I could see the AOTC version of Obi-Wan winning out.

I took that to mean "when will MAUL have a buddy or sparring partner?", which would translate into "When is the next Sith Lord?"

Here's to hoping for a Toy Fair announcement for Darth Sidious w/ alternate heads!!!!

I just can't see three Obi-Wans in three years. We'll be lucky if we get Old Ben this year. I think we need a year or two apart after that for a TPM Obi-Wan. I just don't think we should waste all of the variants so soon. Besides the entire line could just be made up of Luke, Anakin, Padme, Leia, and Obi-wan variants if we keep that up.

That was my thought too. Seems like this could lead toward a TPM Obi or a Sidious, depending on context. I'll take either but Sidious would definitely be a higher priority! :emperor

With all their different outfits, we could get a Luke, Leia, Obi-Wan, Anakin & Padme each year. (Like Buttmunch said above, d'oh. :))

If we get an Obi-wan this year, especially in light of the anniversary, I'd like to get old Ben.

I hear ya, but I for one will not be buying any 1:6 Jake Lloyd Mannequin Skywalker figure. No sir. I'd be all over an AOTC Anakin, though.

What about a AOTC Obi-Wan? Maybe the sculpt that has him and Jango beating the crap out of each other in the rain.

I mean he's got a mullet and all, but so did Johnny Depp at one time and it didn't kill his career.

Or it should cost less than a full-size figure.

The quote can go 1 of 2 ways, or both, which I'd love. It could be a Sith and if it were, I would lean towards Dooku as a sparring partner or whatever, because the Sidious that Maul was with was pre-deformed and I'm sure Sideshow knows we want deformed Sidious badly. The other route is that we'll get an Obi-Wan to round out the DOTF collection, and after seeing the committment to building an entourage around Jabba, I would think they'd lean more to complete the DOTF collection as well instead of more standalone characters.
