1/6 scale saddles and tack

Hi,
I just recieved my order for two 1/6th scale saddles to fit the horses made by Dragon and the horses produced in the 60s and 70s known as "Jonny West" line and accessories. You can still get the Jonny West horses on e-bay. The "Dragon" horse is a tad larger than the JW horses. Both are really good for any 1/6th scale needs. My SideShow Civil War figures look great especially with the hand made leather saddles made by BEN'S CUSTOM TACK. The quality and historiclal accuracy is museum quality. Ben has a large assortment of hand made saddles and accessories. Check out the web site and you will be amazed at what he has done. www.benscustomtack.com

Ben's work is simply amazing! i don't have any but i've admired his stuff for awhile now. if i ever get a horse, i WILL be getting some of his stuff.

can you post pics of some of your civil war 1/6 figs on the horse/saddle....stonewall's feet are getting tired. know any e-tailers that sell the dragon horses besides ebay?

There are two places that you can purchase the "Dragon" horses through two websites. The Battle Rhino is an excellent business to deal with. However, they are currently out of the horses. If you go to their website and click on the search tab, type in "taras". When the horses are in stock , they will appear for order.( www.thebattlerhino.com)
The other website is Krak-Troops. I ordered a "Dragon" horse from them today($34.59). The name of the horse is labled as "Molniya".This is the first time I've ordered from them.(www.krak-troops.com). I tried to upload the pics, but this dumb thing doesn't want to work. Oh crap!!!

Hi Musketball. I've dealt with the Battle Rhino and they're good, but my favorite place for loose gear and pieces-parts is www.war-toys.com. I get a LOT of stuff from them, and they post new stuff almost every day or two.

I've gotten horses, both Dragon and Johhny West from Battle Rhino and Ebay, but no saddles yet, except the ones that came on the Dragon horses.

I really must get my horse project back into gear, but I thought I'd mention that Marx also made a 1:6 pony, and that you can sometimes find the Action Man horse on the UK eBay. It is slightly larger than the Marx Thunderbolt but smaller than the Dragon horse, and has fixed legs and the same style mane and tail as the Dragon. Though I intially wasn't keen on jointed legs, I must say the Dragon horse almost makes me a believer.

It's the !@#?!!*! saddles that are gonna kill me...bridles are cheap & easy through Rio Rondo but saddles are expensive. Anybody bought a saddle from jeaway2 on eBay? Her quality looks to be less than Ben's, but her prices are around $85-$110.

thanks musketball. it's a WW horse though, I want a Civil War horse...jk. this and the other site you posted with the incredible saddles will do just fine!

Which horse do you prefer? The slightly larger Dragon or the others?

I have been using the Dragon type horse, because the SideShow figures look great in conjuction with "Bens" saddles. The old Jonny West horses looks a little too small. I don't know where to find true 1/6 scale horses.For some reason I can't upload the pictures. However, The Jackson and Custer Civil War figures look great on the Dragon horses. I'll keep tring.

I'd love to see some of your pics musketball, or Brent rather. Have you tried uploading them as attachments to your post? They aren't as large as the hosted pics, but they come up well when they get clicked on. Below the "Submit Reply" button, when you make a post. Use the "Manage Attachments" button, and upload your photo's. I don't mean to sound condescending, I just thought you might be able to make that work for you.

I ordered a Dragon horse and it should be here tomorrow....oh Stonewall's aching feet will be relieved. now to get of those sweet saddles! (although the horse comes fully equipped) thanks for the links guys!

I received my Dragon horse(WW version) today am I am HIGHLY impressed. i figured it would look slightly toyish but it does not in the least look toyish. you can see lines in the legs where the joints are but with the sculpt of the face and paint ap it looks awesome. very large but still in line with the 1/6 scale figure. i didn't think it would be when i got it out of the box but it works perfect. stonewall is mounted on it and it adds so much more to displaying him. although his horse, little sorrel, was a smaller horse by comparison, i don't mind at all. cannot recommend enough. plus it was like $35 on the site you guys sent. also love the saddle, bridle and everything else although i will be getting a saddle from the site posted in this thread in the near future. i would post pics now but i have to go pic up a wii my mom found and i'm about to leave to pick it up. she lives 2 hours away in north Alabama. will post pics tomorrow.

I really liked the look of the saddles you had custom made! I bookmarked Ben's site but haven't had time to check it out yet. I want to customize some of my cavalry figures the same way, with realistic-looking tack. I happen to collect Dragon's stuff too, and so I have about a half dozen horses so far which I'm planning to use for my Sideshow ACW and LOTR figures. I've been thinking of making my own tack for the LOTR horses, but I'm wondering if Ben might not consider adding some LOTR-compatible designs to his line, if he hasn't already...saddles in particular. I'm sure there are plenty of other people who'd go for it, since Sideshow doesn't appear to have plans for adding horses to the line, and Dragon's horses are the best thing since sliced bread at the moment.

i agree that site is awesome! i can't wait to get one for the horse pictured above. i will say though the one that came with the Dragon horse is great too(pictured above) but i want the best for Stonewall so I will eventually get one from Ben.

More "Dragon" horses listed at Monkey Depot.$ 44.95. They are getting much harder to find. www.monkeydepot

Here's some better pics(same camera so they're not great pics) of the Dragon Horse. All of the items shown on the horse(minus Stonewall Jackson) came with the order...like Musketball said they're getting harder to find.
