OK so the last few Saurons being available and a few of the posts on that thread motivated this poll, so...

Have you broken Sauron's head?

OK Danny let the comments fly....

Lonnie I promise I didn't post this to test you your first week on the job...

just the way it was designed to be placed on his neck

I was moving mine once and the head fell off and one of the spikes cracked. Not that big of a deal though as it's not to noticable.

Mine was encased in a display case for a short while, then went to the box ever since. Must always remember to remove his head first. Then the leg peg. may may just forgotten that it needs some assembly. Nevertheless, he's one bad a$$ to be messed with

this is applicable for Sam & Bill the pony statue as well,
I bought mine from Adam from DSC and the foot was broken (that's how I can afford him :o , thanks Adam BTW)

Anyway, that statue is also so fragile when moving, sam keeps falling of balance every time you move him :lol

I've moved mine several times and the head's never fallen off. No damage to him or anything, but i swear, on about two occasions, i've cut myself on his pointy finger or shoulder spikes. darn well near impaled myself on his helm once.

I broke one of the spikes on the helm, but it was a clean break and a simple fix.

I have one but I have only ever had him out for like 15 mins before I put him back in the box and into the closet. Mine is fine BTW

So far, so good. When I dust, I usually hold his head to keep it still. If I move it, I merely remove his head altogether. I can tell this is one fragile piece.

My Sauron's helm came broken right out of the box so I had to order a new one. By the time the replacement arrived, I had already learned the lesson of removing the head prior to moving the statue. Luckily, I had a "tester" helm for the first couple of weeks.

Yeah FYI when you have to email Sideshow Customer Service asking " I need head." they WON'T respond! I repeat don't email with a subject title...

"I NEED HEAD!"

Try to be a bit more descriptive. :slap

The very same day that I received it, I set it up temporarily on a table to check it out. As many of us know, it's an amazing piece. In any case, I then decided to move it to it's display spot and totally forgot about the head and it came loose and crashed to the floor. About 3 spikes broke off. I super-glued them together but I was so upset with the damage, that I ended up writing to Dusty who directed me to someone in customer service, who in turn directed me to someone in the returns/shipping dept and they ended up sending me a replacement Sauron head/helm. Unfortunately, it arrived with one broken spike but I was able to super-glue it back on and the damage is not noticible.

SS Customer Service = second to none.

yes, both huge mofos. very impressive display since each on their own can be a centerpiece.

Moved mine once, not thinking about the head, and down it came, bouncing like a ball off the hutch, onto the desk, and resting on the floor. Most of the spikes broke. Luckily it wasn't too far after it was released and was able to order a replacement head.

Won't forget again!

Makes us wonder why SS didnt use the magnet instead to secure it in place . . .

The usual thing happened to me. I moved the big guy, but his head wanted to stay where he was. Suffice it to say, he decided to roll off on his own instead. As a result he broke his spikes in several places. Distraught, my first reaction was to call SS' great customer service! In a couple of days I received my own head! :lol

Ouch that would be painful:monkey4 How is it now? :monkey2

Im glad it was just the little finger on mine though, it glued on no problem. Much happier I broke the finger than the helmet. Breaking anything sucks though. I was kicking myself for doing it.

Well, two of the spikes are in half, the other one is cracked. I've been looking for someone who could fix it, but no luck as of yet. Still keeping my fingers crossed because this is the last piece I'd ever get rid off.

Schrodinger's Sauron

If you break his head and never open the box, is it really broken?

I have 2 Sauron and have never opened them (bought one, won one in affiliate contest). So I don't know if they're broken or not. They are deep, deep in storage, so I'm not likely to know any time soon.

I also own one and never broke the head. Right after I purchased it I read many reviews about how fragile it was and to always remove the head first before moving it. I have it displayed up high, so no one can touch it. I would be devestated if anything ever broke off of it.

A main piece, the head just balancing on the neck was one of the poorest polystone designs to date by SS. You think they would have put just a bit more thought into it as opposed to spending over a year and a half just to design the packaging. OYE!
