I have a feeling they people are going to wish they had pre-ordered the animated maquettes for the LOTR line... :D

I agree. Got both on order and am keeping both. Looking forward to the busts as well. Though I will only be doing the Fellowship plus a few outside of each with both lines.

Yeah, I'm not sure how deep I will go either, but hopefully, they won't do too many non-main characters!

I hope. They're nicely priced so getting the Fellowship won't be that bad.

Yep just like you Josh I said in the beginning I'm passing now we both have them on order. We can't resist the power of the ring. :monkey2

I know. I'm so weak. :lol

Seriously though like you said we both we're gonna pass but in the end I like the thought of having the Fellowship in serveral formats.

Nope, and I really can't say I'm that crazy about the line -- but I do like the ES. :monkey5

I haven't ordered any of these yet but I'm starting to be more concerned with not ordering them and liking them after it's too late over ordering them and not liking them once I receive them.

I'd get them now Fritz. They're pretty neat really. I'm not a huge animated style fan by anymeans but they where cool looking at SDCC last year.

Frtiz, Bob has these still for sale.

I just don't get the appeal of this line. They are nice looking but LOTR wasn't animated. I'd much rather have a poseable 12" figure with a great likeness than these goofy things.

Neither was SW but lots of folks like those. They're just some neat items. For me I just like the way they look honestly and I love LOTR so there ya go.

Edit:

In other words it's ok for you to say that these are goofy looking because they're not the best in your opinion compared to say SS 12" LOTR figures. Yet, my worthless opinion is not valid when I say that I like the SSW items more than GG and that overall the SSW line will be considered the better line. When I'm still saying I like the GG stuff and am buying several of the items in that line for my collection and not trashing GG items nor the fact that others feel differently than me.

odd

What I was trying to say Josh, is that at least the animated Clone Wars maquettes were from something animated. I hate the OT animated maquettes and same goes for LOTR. It's just something stupid that GG created because there are people that will buy anything SW and LOTR.

Your opinion is worthless because you were comparing two very similar items and saying that the far inferior (at least sculpt wise, which most people will agree with) was the better.

Well, I don't disagree animated OT and LOTR are odd but there is something catching about both for me. Guess it's the small child in me. :lol

No opinion is worthless that was part of my point. I am equal a member here as you and my opinion is as valid. People jump on me when I disagree saying that I'm trying to say their opinion is not valid when that is not the case. Yet you can say the GG Animated pieces are goofy and it's ok. I did not say the GG pieces where inferior just that I thought the SSW line was better and the GG pieces didn't match up. I have the right to say that right?

That's how I feel as well. I just like the "style" of the pieces. I don't collect any other GG lines except the animated ones. I have no interest in their busts or statues. As long as GG puts out more animated pieces I'll keep buying them. I even like the Jack Sparrow piece.:o

I like the Cap Jack piece myself. I don't collect POTC though so I'll pass but it's neat looking anyway.

Nice ES, but I'm avoiding these. I'm already investing in the SW OT animated line, which I know GG will go crazy with product this year because of the 30th anniversary. Anyways, I like my WETA poly pieces better. :D

I'm also avoiding these pieces...although, I do like them. I have to be particular of what I order since I'm running out of room to display my collection. I'll only be collecting the 12" LOTR figures from now on....as well as the PF SW & 12" SW figures.

I'm sure I'd feel the same way if I had many SSW pieces. But since I don't, I'm all over these GG busts. Though I'll admit I'm a bit scared after the Elrond photo.

Yeah, after seeing Strider, Gandalf and Saruman, which all are fantastic, I was disappointed in Elrond. GG usually nails likenesses so Elrond really surprised me. But I'm sure GG will tweak it as production moves along.

I am against any collection item that is produced to exploit collectors.

GG and MR is doing this extremely well.

I started to collect the GG SW Animated maquettes but after seeing Vader, luke pilot..etc, sold them. I can understand animated arc trooper, asajj but WTF is animated vader, stormtrooper or likewise LOTR animated ones?

I will not let my collection hobby exploited by this greedy GG company.

Balrog mini bust - 3000 pieces
- Gandalf mini bust - 3000 pieces

3,000 is way too damn large, since alot of the SS/W people are 'advoiding' these busts. I'll be picking the Balrog up on clearance, 20 bucks.

heheh, how are they exploiting you? They are not forcing you to buy every single product they put out.
