But you have to ask the question, "Why did Bidder 1 bid $310 in the first place, when Gimli is selling for about $75 right now???" I smell something...

I think they are just hoping that Bidder 3 will be a complete idiot.

And have you looked at his feedback info... eBay can't even keep up with the guy! On one auction they say he has between 10 and 49 feedback, and the next auction he has between 100 and 499! :D
But seriously, I don't think I like this new, hidden user ID feature. I like to see who I'm bidding against and their info might tip me off to a scam or shill bidding. With this new system, you get info like "1 year or less" for how long they have been a member; I'm sorry, but a new ID registered in the last 30 days is very, very much different than one registered a year ago! And, you can no longer check the actual feedback unless you are the seller. Again, this info has helped me determine scams and shills. I do however, like the new 30 Day Summary info; that is very nice!!!

I too am far less trusting of ebay without this information. I bid on some higher priced items from time to time, and knowing that there are certain bidders who will spend relentlessly, when I see them putting up bids, I know that I might win some other time. It is also nice to see when somebody wins an item from a seller, the seller relists the item, and the same guy is bidding, clearly some shill bidding going on.
Maybe they changed it to protect people who were getting phishing e-mails about second chance offers, but I see more cons than pros.

Yeah, the new system sucks! It just promotes shill bidding. And we all know eBay doesn't give a crap. Better for them, they make more in fees.
