Marvel started the recent trend with Star Wars AF Variants which I've been loving but it appears that they'll going all out soon. The same artist has had such wild success with the SW covers he was commissioned to do more

So the Secret Wars ones are obvious, the X-Men I'm assuming the 90s run? The Ultimates one is a bit confusing but for X-Men 600 for example it's a $6 for three different covers just in the AF realm.

Being that we're all Action Figure collectors, do these make you want to go for them more or is Marvel attacking the well a little too hard now?

I dig the Star Wars ones and will buy Em all, not interested in the superhero ones myself.

I think these started with a variant of image comics "spread" series (which is actually a pretty fun read)

It's a cool idea, but like everything with comics nowadays, gimmicky, and will be forgotten in a few months when the next thing shows up. I would like to get the Wolvie and Spidey Secret Wars ones, though.

The craziest one of those gimmicky variants I've seen recently was the DC Harley Quinn issue that had the scratch n sniff marijuana smell. Lol so silly

These Star Wars action figure variants do hit a heavy nostalgic spot for me though, that's why I dig em
