GG-Elrond Bust

Saw the prototype pic yesterday on the Turkish Collector forum but the admin removed the pic due it was requested by GG (he says)

The bust is from the ROTK scene where he is handing over the Narsil to Aragorn. The base is like the building columns of Rivendell. Anyone else saw this piece as well?

Taking into account there are not so many LOTR announcements, if SS will not speed up the PF series, GG will make nice profit with these busts imo

I hope this line ends up being as high quality as their Harry Potter busts. I think Aragorn and the Ringwraith are due in January, although GG has gotten pretty bad about delivering items on time.

I wonder if they will wait until Toy Fair to officially unveil the Elrond and Saruman busts together.

it is part of the bust. Elron is holding edge of the sword and the hilt is extended thru (Aragorn)

one thing I realize was: the face sculpt looked relatively younger to Hugo Weawing in the movie, it was not looking like an elf of x hundered years but only 30 years.

I just realized also when I saw the other thread that there was the pic of the GG animated new Yoda mauqette also along with the Elrond. (I totally forgot yoda as I am not collecting Animated series) Which makes sure that the new bust is Elrond :rolleyes:

Yeah, I would wait to have this out there full time. I think for this to be as good as the other busts so far from this line they will have to adjust it some.

It's not horrible, but it's easily the worst so far. The face needs to be longer. At least it looks like an elf.

Well, its not as bad as I was expecting based on the comments I had heard.

But THATS what you get from scanning, you get an image of the actor, NOT the character. I see Hugo Weaving there but there isn't much of Elrond. This is why the human hands of sculptors can express more than a computer and machine can.

I do like the inclusion of Anduril.
And I'll still be getting it. But hopefully they will "retool" or I dunno, perhaps reSCULPT the face.

A definite miss. So far, their LOTR busts have been very very good and I'm generally forgiving on likenesses if the character is one I like, but this one needs work, even for me. Hope they'll put an objective eye to him and tweak it a bit. Otherwise, this baby will NOT come to my house. (I'm now dreading what their Frodo will look like. There hasn't been a spot-on likeness to Wood yet. SS PF has the sculpt down well but the paint has been the problem)

the laser scan is just the base process. they hand sculpt the details until it's finished.

:lol If you guys are talking about the 12" Aragorn, he had a great likeness, but I think the paint job just made him look bad. As for Frodo, he still may look worse than Elrond.:monkey5

I think we should hold up on the judgment. Clearly this is not even a prototype for pre-production. I wouldn't be surprised if things get ironed out.

Take Slave Leia for example, they were able to alter that one before production started.

Well, from a distance it will look like his cross dressing cousin. That's good. While from a distance even if Frodo's eye is off a little you won't be able to tell. Which last time I checked is how most of us looked at our pieces.

GG doesn't use the laser scanning on every bust or statue they make. I doubt they had a laser scan of mark hamil because the technology was not available at that time. Also the A New Hope Leia bust and Old Ben...I highly doubt they had a laser scan of those either. It just depends, for the majority of the PT stuff they probably do have laser scanned information.

Yeah, I doubt they had the laser scan on those. They could I suppose have video or picture files and then put those into a program that would digitally map their faces but I don't know that for sure. That might not even be possible yet.

When I first seen this I thought it was Frodo, either way it dosen't look good at all. It looks like he's wearing Frodo's Clothes.
