We at TORn are lucky in we get to help tbd unveil this awesome looking and huge Smaug action figure. You can get it right now via WB.com and it has an edition size of 3k pieces.

That's pretty neat. I was a little bummed when I saw he has only 10 pts of articulation, but with wired wings and tail you can probably get a lot of cool poses out of him. And for the size, the price is not bad. I'm thinking about it....

Yeah, it looks pretty cool. I agree the wired parts will allow for some good poses and the size of the figure is a pretty good sized piece. The price I think is fair considering how large Smaug is.

I will make sure to pass them on once we get some and post them to TORn.

Do you think they will do any of the other figures or is this it.

I wonder how fast the 3k will sell. Will it be available elsewhere or only through WB.com?

I think we will see more.

I don't expect it to sell super quick. It will eventually be available elsewhere.

22" wingspan... but 21" high? Seems like the wings would be bigger than that if you look at the picture.

I'd like a 1/6th bust of the head please. I'll settle for 1/8th. But I would like to put my Asmus Bilbo inside his mouth, where he belongs.

The Josh

I could see GG doing a Smaug bust of some kind in the future.

It looks good. I probably won't get it because it's doesn't fit in with the rest of my stuff. But, the price point for what it is is pretty nice so I will think about it.

I'm still debating. Smarting, a bit, from not having all the dwarves from The Bridge Direct. It will always feel like an odd collection.

Noooo! This was going to be my Christmas present to myself. Now how to explain the box when it arrives 2 weeks or so after Christmas.

Some one posted pictures on the bridge direct Facebook page of Smaug.

He for me is a stand alone piece that I wouldn't put any of the other figures around.

That's Thorin, not Bard.

Just ordered 2. One will be hanging from the ceiling in our TV room.

Ordered from bbts, only way to get him internationally at a fair price. Have all the other 3 3/4 figures so smaug was a must get purchase. Can't wait!

Card was charged for this guy. Probably no point having the rest of the small figures without smaug as the 'grail' or centrepiece. Hope he came out good, guess i'll find out soon!

Question - how was your notification sent? Was the e-mail from Wbshop? What service did they use? I got a mysterious notification from Stamps.com but no real reference point on what it is. Hmmm.

Jon - Mine is from the WBshop. I would not respond to Stamps.com. I have received bogus emails from ups, usps and Bank of America. Some have been detailed enough to have the phone, logo ect correct in the email but if you look at the address it is not an official one and ups, usps and the bank had never been connected to my email address.

Cool, thanks for the info. Guess mine is still to ship. Which isn't surprising, really, as I ordered it later than most. Thankfully Stamps.com didn't request anything. Just had a tracking number. I'm sure it's just something I've ordered and forgotten about. LOL.

I saw this at a local comic shop $80cad, hmm I have most of the other BD small figures, so I will prolly pick it up #208/3000. What is the lowest number you peeps have seen?

If you do, please post some pics. Very eager to see how smaug scales with the other 3 3/4 Bridge Direct figures.

I have him he is going to my 6 year old for Christmas so I can't open him. I had ordered it for myself but when he made his list this year Smaug oddly enough was at the top of it so I took one for the team.

He's worth $30, tops. I'm sending mine back. The tabs for his ratchet joints broke the first time I tried to pose the wings. And the tail constantly falls off.

Yeah mine arrived about a week ago, but I can't open it till Christmas. I must say there is a bit of a cheap feeling to it after looking it over. Definately not worth the $60-$70! I wish they would have finished the 3 3/4 dwarves rather then given us an out of scale poorly executed Smaug.

Thanks for the pics everyone. Not hearing much good feedback on this guy. My one is still with BBTS. I guess that i won't cancel because i want to at least flesh out my 3 3/4 figure collection, but this toyline really fell flat on it's face. I did'nt bother with the 6 inch figures for the hobbit either, so many characters from these films and we don't even see thorin's company completed. WTF!

j97e1

Very cheap feel. McFarlane dragons are 1000% better, for 1/2 the price.
Sending mine back today. Not worth the price tag.

superdoug

That's too bad. I was hoping maybe this would spark enough interest to try to get the remaining dwarves out.

Well. I couldn't pull the trigger on this-80$ at my LCS; just not worth it , no even the right scale. And since BD has gone silent on this line I'm taking my money elsewhere.

So can anybody explain why after a 3 billion dollar LOTR franchise produced tons of product like the great ToyBiz figure line and Armies of Middle Earth line - why Bridge Direct got this license and then produced such crap?

That is something I really want to know about.

Personally, i think the TBD hobbit figures are pretty good. The problem here does'nt lie with the quality, but rather the amount of figures released by them. Poor effort in my opinion.

So i got this guy in hand today, don't even think i'll open him right now. The box is way smaller than i thought it would be, so the dragon figure i'm sure will be too.
It's a very underwhelming effort, this toy should have been the centrepiece of the 3 3/4 hobbit figures, but would only work as a background display in this size and scale now imo.

I wish. I don't think many of us would have a problem with it if it was.

There's a photo floating around of the 3" Thorin figure next to the new Smaug. If you sat him on top of Smaug and he'd look proportionally about the same as Toybiz's Nazgul and Fellbeast - except that the Nazgul was 6". So the Fellbeast is almost twice as big as this Smaug.
