The shipment just arrived, so yeah all friends who ordered with us will get yours soon. I personally have been looking forward to this figure, so immediately opened one (it's MINE now!).

First of all, NECA please stop using the twisted wire to secure the figure, it's a huge pain in the behind and totally collector-unfriendly. We'll pay you $5 more for each pop to get rid of it, please just STOP...

OK, now back to the figure. We've seen similar sculpture in the previous two 1/4 Iron Man figures, NECA modified the details so that it morphed into the Midas armor. It's all good, with great proportion and lots of details, but not something would blow your mind. The critical part of the figure is obviously the paint, and I'm happy to say NECA did a very decent job in that department. The figure is glittering gold with nice metallic finish (the pics may look a little bit red due to the lighting). The different shades of gold mixed with occasional silver just look amazing. The paint is smooth and even in most part of the figure, but again, this is a giant 18" figure priced just above $80, and NECA is not known for superior paint job, so expect some imperfection here and there. Overall it looks GREAT (at least to me)!

The LED works perfectly fine, not too bright and not too dim. When they are on, it definitely gives life to the figure and adds to the "wow" effect.

As usual, more pics on our Facebook, ENJOY!

Note: I did not put on the two pieces of shoulder armor because that apparently requires damaging the box, so I'll have to find way around it, again, please be collector-friendly...

I don't get the point. Does Midas appear in the Avengers movie ?

It's an easy pass for me and I don't easily pass on such big cheap Iron Man figures !

It's just a "simple" repaint of the Mark VII... It's so cool to have some other IM armors but why Midas as he wasn't in the Avengers movie ? I can understand they want to use again the nice Mk VII body, but a Mk II or any other previous armor could be so much awesome.

Anyway I like the Mark VII so much, such a great figure for the price. And I like NECA too. :)

That said, great pics. ;)

Yeah, Midas is under the IM3 banner, not Avengers. It seems that NECA doesn't have the license for it, and wanted to ride on the success of the HT Midas so they made this repaint "variant".

NECA is the reigning God of mold reusing (which is not necessarily a bad thing, it helps to keep cost down so everyone can afford something he/she likes), just look at how many Terminator figures they cranked out after getting the license. If they are going to do a repaint, then the Midas makes complete sense, because it's all about the paint! Also as HeubertMichael mentioned, they may have wanted to take advantage of the attention Midas was getting due to the HT exclusive.

That said, great pics. ;)

Thanks! I'm still learning :D

Tempting to pick up and paint a custom

i preordered this n waiting for delivery. i hate seeing paint scuffs n hope it's not as obvious as the mark vii 1/4 scale. the other neca product ed-209 i bought seems very good on the paint though.

Neca,..if ur listening we need a 1/4 war machine of the iron man 2.

The mark 7 would be cheaper to pick up for that.
What are you considering?

I am thinking about Disco who seems to be a Mark 7 repaint too.
Mark 20 and 28 are almost the same as Disco mark 27 and have cool color schemes. I hope that Midas will be a succes and neca would consider these

The BD one is cheaper, yes. The normal release is not.

I don't know just yet. Was thinking stealthy.

Oh, that is funny. Here in the Netherlands the mark7 is about 85 euros and the Midas is showing up for preorder for 110 Euros.

I will just wait then for the Midas to drop here once it is in stock.

I just got a BD for 60 Euros and ordered one of those BD casts of ebay. I can recast it so I can cheaply get extra BD versions with a head.

But doing a repaint yourself is much cooler with a Led light up head :)

I think someone also did a metallic blue stealth on the forums.

Wow! 110 Euros is 152 USD, and there will be shipping/sales tax on top of it I guess? I bet you'll be better off ordering it in the US and have it shipped to your country, assuming you can avoid the import tax/VAT.

In most cases, pricing once import duties have been added, means the benefit of buying direct is fairly low.. tbh, the exchange rate needs to be much closer to $2 to the pound / euro, in order for importing to be a 'cheap' option, for the average collector.. and you still have the hassle factor, if there is anything wrong with the figure, when it arrives.

Yes, Bandai Creation (Japan) 12" Kiryu figure (with a slightly loose arm) I am looking at you...
