So who plans on getting it and what was your method. I know Loki has a pre-order I plan to wait in line Saturday night to pick it up on Sunday. This will be the first Nintendo I have purchased since the very first one. I can see my self getting all three systems eventually. The 360 will depend on what Star Wars games are released for it and due to FF 13 play station 3 is a must.
But for now it will be Nintendo. The Wii is unique and it will allow for the non gamer to have a lot of fun with it. Not to mention Zelda looks awesome and there will be a Final Fantasy game for it. So like I said I will be there Saturday night.
Not me, sadly. :( Wii was my second choice, just as Gamecube was my second choice for the last generation of console. Both times, Nintendo was beaten by the Xbox, and for the same reason: Halo :chew
I could get one, I suppose. But I have PFs and such to pay for in the future.

I agree artists. A lot of times now days games get lost in graphics and long detailed cinematic scenes. I will always take game play over anything else. My all time favorite games are still from PS1 and the first Nintendo.

Just paid mine off this evening. Got an extra controller, Zelda (of course, I've had this game on reserve since January of 2005!), Red Steel, and Super Monkey ball. I wasn't even considering getting Super Monkey Ball until I saw Gamespot.com's video of them playing it with the Wii remote. Intsantly sold!
I have a feeling this console will have me getting games I would've never even considered just because of how cool they are with the remote.
I unfortunately have to work the Raven's game this Sunday, I know poor me :lol , but I'm going straight to Gamestop afterwards and don't plan to stop playing until Wednesday when I go to my parents for Thanksgiving. And yes, I'll be taking my Wii to my parents :D

Still looking into this system, but my feelings are kinda etchy about Nintendo post Nintendo 64. It seems like they release their systems too fast compared to the others (look what they've done with all of the GBA within a certain time frame) and I really don't want the Wii to become obsolete within a few years after purchase.

That has only been with hand helds. Their release of major consoles has been steady with every other manufacturer. The two things that Nintendo has going for it are cost and reliability. I paid about $450 for the system, an extra controller, and 3 games. That wouldn't even get you the cheapest version of the PS3, and who the hell would want that anyway? I've never had a problem with a Nintendo system, which is a lot more than I can say about Sony or Microsoft.
Not to mention, the Wii is just going to be fun to play.
Anyone on the fence about a Wii just needs to check out the video here http://www.gamespot.com/wii/index.html?tag=nav-top;wii

I can't wait for the Wii, but it looks like I'll have to...My girlfriend, bless her heart, has decided that this is what she will be getting me for my birthday in December. She will even be trying to wait in line to grab a system at Target sunday morning! It'll be driving me crazy knowing that she bought it, and I've pre-paid for Zelda, Monkey Ball, an extra controller and a classic controller. The only thing not accounted for yet is the memory to store downloaded games. Does anybody know if you can use an external hard drive attached through a USB cable, or is it just Memory sticks?

As far as I know, just memory sticks. But ask any of my ex girlfriends, I don't know anything.
And don't waste your money on the Wii memory card. You can use any SD flash memory card and can find them for a lot cheaper. I even heard Target is having a Black Friday sale on 1 gig SD cards for under $5.

Loki apparently you have not been introduced to GEARS OF WAR! Only the best game to hit the shelf this year. I will still buy a Wii though for Zelda. Just dont hate on the best system around the 360 baby. Sorry truth hurts. I always say that. PS3 is just for people who want to say they have it for now. You know the type because we are it. You know. I gotta have it right now types of people. I have since got rid of that emotion. I will wait until medal gear. No sense in getting a PS3 right now with 360 ports on it. I will get a Wii like I said but in no way will it replace my 360!

Haven't played Gears yet. Been tempted many times to get it, but I had one hell of a CC bill last month and this month isn't shaping up to be any easier with the Wii already on there. I knew I wasn't going to touch it for months after this weekend so I just decided to wait. I will get it, but most likely around my birthday in Feb.

Loki,
thanks for the tip. As exciting as it looks to play new games, I am just as excited to play classic stuff without having to dig in storage to find my old consoles, or go through the hassle of hooking up all sorts of cables. It'll be nice to throw on the system and play any Mario game, or some weird classics like Kid Icarus or Earthbound. I just don't want to go broke storing all the games, and I know SanDisk memory cards are pretty affordable. This week will be really crazy with all the launch lines, people were at Best Buy last night on my way home from work for the PS3!

Yeah that's how I feel about PS3 right now too. It's more of a novelty to get one. You know the person that has to say "I got that.". Why send $600 on something that has the same games as another system (360). The Wii though looks refreshing and fun. I assure you that the first party titles will be much more than a novelty however.

I saw commercials for Marvel:UA and Red Steel last night. Both look like they are using the Wii-mote in great ways.
During the M:UA, he made a swiping motion and it showed Capt. America throwing his sheild. Then he thrust his arms and turned his wrists and it was Spidey shooting a ball of web. Very cool!!!!
Red Steel showed both the sword play and gun fighting styles. I can't believe it's only 3 days away :chew

How can that argument even exist since no one's even played it yet  ?
One of the most important things I ever learned in college is to think about where information is coming from. Sony (for some reason) has a loyal fanbase, despite the fact that it was the weakest of all 3 of the previous gen systems. A lot of people have been bashing the 360 and Wii that have never played a single game on either system. Why, they're fanboys. No matter what, no matter how obvious the facts are against them, they'll support Sony to the end. Sony has F'd up big time with trying to rush this launch and there are more than likely going to be a lot of upset consumers who get faulty units due to the rush job Sony has done to meet their self-emposed deadline.

You don't have to wave your arms around. The Wii remote recognizes small hand gestures as well as sweeping motions. So, for example, you could play the tennis game with large sweeping motions like a real racket or small, simple flips of the wrist. Its all about how you want to play.

Hmmm... Gamespot gave it (Zelda) 8.8 and cited issues with the responsiveness of the Wii-mote as one of the reasons. Don't want to Wii on anyone's fireworks here (sorry, hard to resist...), but I'm having second thoughts on jumping onboard at launch. I mean, other than Zelda (which I can play on my dusty Gamecube) there's little out at launch worth playing IMO. ExciteTruck got panned, so did Red Steel, Monkey Balls not my bag... I kmow reviews are just an opinion and all, but seems like the bubbles burst ever so slightly for me. Might wait till Mario shows up and gauge the situation again then.
Knowing Nintendo, that'll be next Christmas at the earliest :)

Krissolo,
It sounds like you and I are having the same worries but here is what is going through my mind.
I almost purchased a game cube back in the day when Zelda OOT had the special bundle deal. I never did and kind of always regretted it. Right now the Wii may not have superior graphics but that does not bother me as I would rather play original Nintendo games then most other games. Not to mention those earlier games were usually harder because you could not save any time you wanted. I am worried to that the Wii mote will as responsive as it seems from the adds, but I think we will surprised on how good it is and even if there is some flaws hopefully Nintendo will fix it. I am a fan of all three of the new systems; I did not by a PS3 because there are not any games that I like. However, when the first FF game or Jak and Daxter comes out it will be a must have.
Anyway, I have put the worries aside and I am giving Nintendo a chance and I am very excited to do so. If it turns out to not be that great well then so be it but I will not make that judgment for a long time to come.
A little long winded but this same thing has been going through my mind.

My best friend played the Wii at the Gamestop manager's meeting and he said it was the best video game experience of his life.
I'm sure the new controlls will take some getting used to. But once you get the hang of it, the possibilities are endless for what companies can do.
I myself still have to reserve judgement since I haven't played the system yet.

So, you take dozens of super-positive reviews, then read one great review ... now you have changed your mind? Sorry, that shows me you were never that serious about the machine in the first place. But, I am not condemning or complaining. If you don't think you want it, then don't get it. I could have bought a PS3 and I got looks from my friends when I didn't like I was crazy. Well, for me, I saw nothing at launch that interested me, so I passed. Sure, I will get some time in the future, but why now? If that's how you feel about the Wii, then you should do the same. I see no reason to try and change your mind ... when people ask that question, they usually have already decided and are looking for people who will back their feelings up. I will give you a link to a list of reviews to read if you so choose. The trick is not to put much stock into single reviews. Read all of them, and look for common thoughts or comments. That way, you bypass the opinions, and hit upon the deeper truth.
http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/928519.asp
P.S. I guess that I am the opposite of you. Not only am I going to pick up my prepurchase, I have now decided to add Rayman and Madden to the list of games I want for a total of 4. Sure, the Madden may have X-Box graphics, but I am dying to try the new Wii control for it.

I can all but gaurantee that any EB or Gamestop is sold out. They took pre-orders and they all sold out within hours, some even minutes.
Your best bet is to find out if any stores are opening at Midnight (that way you have less wait time) and get there as soon as you can. Most major chains are getting at least 50 it seems so your chances are pretty good but I still think you'll have to do some sort of waiting in line.
If no stores are selling it at midnight, get up around 5-6 and drive around to find the smallest line.

Well,
I have some Wii systems on order. I really wanted to keep one and try it out.
That said, I went to a friend's house to check it out.
It REALLY seems like a system designed for kids. It's kind of neat at first but gets old quick. None of the games were really that interesting either.
I personally think the 360 is a much better system with better games for the "older" gamers.
No experience with PS3 yet.
Oh, Gears of War is also still fresh in my mind so that could be distracting me from the Wii too.

NO INTERESTING GAMES!!!! Put down the crack pipe my friend. Have you never heard of Legend of Zelda? Can you tell me what exactly the best game that came out for the 360 at launch was? I know GoW is a good game and it seems pretty dark. I don't know exactly what games you've played on the Wii but even Zelda is supposed to be the darkest one yet.
Nintendo has by far the best launch titles of the three systems. I've had a 360 since launch and have been a bit disappointed thus far at the lack of major titles released.
Anywho, I'm off to my game and will be back in about 10 hours to enjoy all the Wii greatness (I hope).

I like RPG's with talking voices and I also like to read the dialogue, either way it is all good. However, it would have been cool for the Zelda game to have voices. I think that because Zelda TP was made for the GC then converted to WII adding the voices would have taken to much work and they might not have had enough time for launch. I am sure one of the Wii's RPG's will character voices.
Got in line at 5:30. Got the Wii and I love it. We need to remember this is just the launch and like Loki said it has at least one great game. Give it a year and who knows what we will see.
I can not wait for Mario and Metal Slug and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles to come out.

I'll agree with that one.
Well the Raven's won and Jamal Lewis got me 3 TD's.
Then I go to pick up my Wii and the A$$HOLES at Gamestop tell me that they are out of Wii remotes :monkey4
Even though I had RESERVED an extra one, they are out. So they knock 10% of my whole purchase (including the system :D ). And my friend tells me he picked up 3 extras and will sell it to me. So I got my system, will have my extra controller, and saved over $40. Still not thrilled about Gamestop, but at least they had my system and games.
Got it set up and did the wi-fi updates. Created my Mii and put in Wii sports.
:monkey2 :monkey2 :monkey2 :monkey2 :monkey2
These are tears of joy :D I have never been so amazed by a game system in my life. Tried baseball and the first words out of my mouth were 'this is the greatest thing of all F'n time'! The bat mimics my controller so perfectly it's scarey. No EA sports baseball game has ever been as fun as this and I can't even imagine what is possible for a real baseball game.
Then I tried bowling. WOW. Just WOW. I've bowled my whole life so I know exactly what I'm doing and it is PERFECT!!!! The way I move over, swing my arm, and generate spin is PERFECT!!!! It took me a few frames to learn the basics but I was picking up spares by the end of the first game. Then it was all about the strikes baby. I got 5 strikes in the second game and I can honestly say that I'm in love with the Wii. And I haven't even put in Zelda.
For anyone who had any doubts about the controller or anything else, you're a fool. Video games are supposed to be fun. I've never had as much fun playing a video game as the last hour I spent playing my Wii. And that was just the 'crappy' free game that came with the system.
Do yourself a favor, find a Wii, buy it and enjoy having fun playing video games again.
I'll have more later.

YEAH!!! I waited 16 hours (8am til midnight) to get one, but Walmart was cool and let us wait most the time inside. I got one with Zelda. I skipped the extra remote cause' Zeldas one player and I will be so on it for the next month I won't be needing any 2 player games for a while. I'm also pleased I don't NEED the "Classic" controller to play downloads, the Cube controller works fine. I'm an idiot and payed 10 bucks to download Mario 64 and play it, just to do it really. I still have it on N64, but now I can have it all in one place.
Anyone got their Miis on parade or whatever that is? I do, I'm "Poster Boy" and if any of you wanna "friend" me here's my code # 4121 5858 2166 5847 yo, and if you don't have this thing....GET ONE! But don't pay crazy prices, I know we're all collectors here, we should have patience after waiting months for preorders.:D
Also, Zelda is so friggin sweet! Not the "Next Gen Graphics" we want, but I'm sure they're to come, not like PS3 or 360 have em either. And the motion sensor feels super natural after only a small amount of playing around. Very glad I got this thing!

Ok after coming home from philly and watching the Eagles throw up on themselves I fired Zelda back up and I love it. However Gears of War is calling me soon! I have to say this Wii is great! It however, can no way compare itself to the 360. I will have fun with first party games (thats why I bought it) however it is in no way first place. In Gears of War when you face off with a Corpser for the first time you will know what I am talking about. I love Nintendo though and can't wait for Mario. After all, I think it is safe to say must of us were raised by Nintendo and our sweet Mario. I just hope when I play the next Zelda I am not reading. Not that I dont like to read. I would just like to hear what the characters sound like and not have to imagine them.

I have a couple other games to play besides Zelda. Final Fantasy 12 is one of those games and it will be hard to juggle between the two of these as they both are awesome. It will be interesting to see in a year what the Wii games will look like. Its graphics will not be as good as the other two but it does not need to be. I still think too much space is used up in graphics and cinema scenes and both quality and duration of game play is often lost.
I also think we have the real potential to seeing a great Castelvania game. For one reason or other most recent Castelvania games have not been all that great, not including hand held titles. Hopefully the Wii will help end this drought.
I do not have a 360 but have heard nothing but good things about Gears. From this forum to the line I waited in this morning everyone seems to be talking about it. Hopefully the 360 core system will win the Amazon customers choice and I will be able to order one otherwise I will wait until Star Wars game are being made for it.

Just finished the first hour and a half of Zelda. I wish I were a smart enough man to put my feelings into words. It is just so hard when you've been waiting so long for something that you have such high expectations for. So many times the thing will fall short in some way shape or form. This however, is not one of those times. The Wii is everything i could've ever hoped it would be. I was always holding off judgement until I actually played it and it is incredible.

Couldn't find a Wii anywhere in town today. For some reason, I thought that there would be more of these available. I am somewhat interested in the Wii, but it looks like it will be a while before I see one on a store shelf.
Meanwhile, I had a friend wait in line this week to get me a PS3. He came home with two of them and decided to put them both on eBay. You win some, you lose some. Now I am waiting to see whether or not the one I ordered from Amazon was the real deal or the result of a glitch.

Huh...either the 360 or PS3 don't have next gen graphics? I don't know what you would define as "next gen graphics" are you expecting everything to look photo-realistic? Apparently you either don't have those systems or a HDTV to get the most out of them. Gears of War alone is incredibly detailed and I would easily say next gen as far as graphics.

I'm really interested in seeing what the Wii can do. I can honestly say that I'm not a true gamer. I own an X-Box (which I hardly ever played since buying it), a Game Boy Advance (that I haven't touched in a few years), and a Sony PSP which I play more often when I get a chance.
After playing the 360, I was sold on the system. My brother-in law owns the system and I had a good time playing games in HD (Tiger Woods Golf and Fight Night). What really helps is that we own the same exact TV so I know what I'm getting.
I'll be honest with the PS3. The only thing on that that interests me is the blu-ray feature on the system. man, i'd love to play some HD movies on my TV. although, i'm adamant about starting up another movie collection (I already own 700+ DVD's).
Which brings me to the Wii. I love Nintendo and their products. My main gripe with the company is how fast they come out with systems. I can never catch up. I had this problem for example with the Game Boys when they went to color. I had the original Game Boy, bought a Ganme Boy Color, within a few months they released the Game Boy Advance which I bought. By the time I got adjusted with the GBA, they announced the DS (which I became frustrated and didn't buy)....a few months after that they released a Game Boy Pocket and a Nintendo DS Lite.

Let me explain myself. I don't think any of the 3 new systems look like they're a complete full step better than the past 3. They're better, but not a whole lot, just a little. Hence, I don't fully feel they meet the definition, MY definition, of next gen graphics. They will, I'm sure, I mean GOW is clearly a step closer for X-BOX. But to me, "next gen" doesn't mean "slightly better" it should be leaps and bounds better. Look at the difference from SNES to N64, that was next gen, HUGE difference. I guess PS2 to PS3 is pretty big but that's just cause' PS2 wasn't as tight as it could've been (my opinion), but Cube to Wii and X to 360, the change isn't as big with graphics. It's there, just not the amazing difference I like to see with a new next generation system. That's all I'm saying. I'm NOT saying any system sucks, I hate "wars" between gamers and companys, it's stupid. I'm Nintendo for life, and will do Sony when the price drops.
Wii's big step and difference is the controls. Everything feels so natural and smooth, (that can be taken out of context so easily) I can't wait for this thing to kick into full gear with Mario, Smash Bro., maybe a new Mario Kart. And of course we need a Star Wars game, that remote is dying to be a lightsaber!

Well, we will have to agree to disagree then. You didn't say if you have any of the other systems or an HDTV though. On a standard def TV, I agree that you wouldn't be wowed by the difference.
I have a 62" HDTV and there is a HUGE difference between the one of the best looking XBox games (Halo 2) and Xbox 360 games (GOW). There is just so much more detail, color and depth to the graphics not to mention solid frame rates at an increased resolution than what any of the previous gen systems could come even close to producing.
I don't have a PS3 and it is too early to judge it on all the ports for the lanch, but if you think that games for that system won't be next gen...I don't know what would be for you.

Look, to sum it up, I'm just saying neither of the 3 have gotten to full speed yet with what they can do, I didn't expect them to this soon, but know they will.
I don't have a huge HGTV, and only the Wii but have played my buddys XBOX 360. I'm not some super gamer who knows tons of the specs, I'm a regular guy who plays once and a while. So from where I'm sitting, a non-serious gamer POV, all 3 have only taken a half step forward and are priming to make that full jump.
Nothing personal though right? I mean agree to disagree is fine, I just don't want you misreading me because sometimes it can seem that way. Cool? Cool! I'm not bashing on any of the 3, just saying that I know they can do more, and can't wait for it!!!!

Wii Sports is so addicting. Bowling is just awesome (I can't believe I just said that). Baseball is very fun, at least batting is. Tennis is fun and challenging. I see what you're saying and I believe you're right.
I have a friend who's a game programer for the Take Two family and he agrees that while the insides of the 360 and the Wii feature graphical advancements over the previous systems, they do not do so by leaps and bounds.
In the case of the Wii their big leap is hardware (controllers) and firmware as well as their OS. And while I don't fully understand it, I think the 360's big leap is that Microsoft figured out how to make everything inside it so that they own all the parts (or something).
Now any of them should look amazing on an HDTV but I think that's the natural progression of technology as opposed to one or two big advancements like when SuperNintendo went from an 8 bit processor to a 64 one.
PS3 is a different story. But then the PS2 can sometimes look like a previous gen system next to the original X-Box so it is about time they upgraded.
Anyway, I think all 3 are great and as soon as GTA4 or a Star Wars game drops, I'm picking up any combination of the 3.

I think that will be an option, but I don't think so yet. If so, someone tell me how,we'll play!!! I know when you turn on the main browser there's an "Internet Browser" option but according to it, it's not ready yet and there are no upgrades available but to check back often to download it.

A star wars game will be sweet, but I do have this question. A lot of what Lucas arts have shown as far as next gen games are concerned are based on there "digital molecular matter" development. I wonder if the Wii will be able to support this or if the Star Wars games made for the Wii will be completely different.

I got my Wii last weekend along with Madden and Zelda due to a lauch pre-purchase. However, my college class and my state mandated teaching enrichment class have been so hectic... not to mention work, I didn't have time to open them til last night. Madden is amazing. Sure, the graphics are upgraded Cube/X-box level. But the controls make this game better than any of the other versions - heck, its the most fun I have had with a sports game in recent memory. The AI also seems smarter than Madden on the 360 .. but that could be due to learning the new controls. Madden, Zelda, and Dragonball Z if you are into Anime are definitely worth picking up.
P.S. Be very careful when playing Wii games. In Madden, you have to physically move the control to the left or right to imitate the stiff arm motion ... well, long story short, I punch my dog in the head last night on accident. Now, it was an accident ... and she wasn't hurt ... but that sad look of distain just broke my heart. How many hospital visits this X-mas will be Wii related? Its going to be an epidemic I say... not to mention electronics repair if that control strap doesn't hold up :rotfl :D :rotfl

Well after getting a few more days of Wii time and getting into some of the other games, I'm in love. Zelda is shaping up to be one of, if not the greatest game of all time (that's saying a lot since I never thought a game could get better than OoT). Super Monkey Ball has 50 mini-games (yes 50). There are a few duds, but there are more than enough great games that are just fun to play. A great party game.
Red Steel is a lot better than I thought it would be after the reviews it got and the multiplayer in that is a lot of fun too.
I hate Wii sports. I can't tell you how many hours of Zelda have been taken away becuase I can't stop playing Wii sports! It's so addicting and fun as hell. Multiplayer tennis is insane. Make sure there's a lot of room for all those swinging arms.

The hardware supports it, but it's up to the software developers to implement, so it varies from game to game. Also, you're probably going to want to order up some component cables which are currently available only from Nintendo directly.

Tom, I might believe 100,000 a week in May, but now? If they could handle that kind of production, they would have had more than 222,000 worldwide for launch (140,000 here, 88,000 in Japan). They were manufacturing these SUPPOSEDLY for over 2 months before the launch. You also have to take in to account that a large portion of the systems will be shipped home to Japan. They lost enough face giving us the majority at launch. Now, I am not expert, but I will be shocked if they can manage 10,000 a week between now and X-mas.

Yes, I agree. They are promising more than they can deliver. They hope to get another 600,000 over here in six weeks, but I wouldn't be surprised if they can't manage it.

It's almost official, Twilight Princess is the greatest game of all time. Words can't even describe how big and great this game is. Over 22 hours in and I feel like I'm only a quarter of the way through. So many side quests, such a large world.
And in Wii sports, we have a new Tennis Champion, LOKI!!!!
It seems that some chick named Elisa was the champ. She's a level 2000 and I killed her and her partner. I've played them a few more times, it seems they're the last opponent, and beaten them every time. I'm almost a 1800 level in tennis now.
Getting better at bowling, finally found my spot and release point. I pretty much hover around 1200 and average a tad over 200 with a new high game of 257 today.
Just figured out you can use the D-pad to move pitches inside and outside, makes a world of difference and I had a much better pitching performance because of it. Still, I'm only at 650 for baseball. Go figure, the one sport I've played my entire life.
Golf is good, just not nearly as fun as the others. I'm a respectable 700 in it.
Boxing is just down right hard right now. I'm about a 650, but I barely beat or barely lose at this point and I don't seem to be getting any better. Gotta go do some more training if I wanna reach pro in this sport.
I love my Wii.

You get one with the system, but they are sold sepereatly from the regualr remote. So if you want to do 2 player you need to buy a new remote ($40) and a new Nunchuck ($20). My friend has one so he just brings his over when we wnna play 2 player. I'll get an extra set soon, so I can play with my kid sisters and brother. For now....they watch and drool.

As far as battery life goes I used about 75 % of the packaged Panasonic batteries after ~ twenty hours. I switched and now have energizer max and we will see how long they go. For some reason the Wii manual advises against the use of rechargeable batteries maybe some one else can elaborate on that one.
I have played almost 30 hours of Zelda and it is truly a great game. The Wii would be worth it just for this game.

You can get one on ebay, 20gb BIN for $695!
Figure it costs $540 after tax, then take out Ebay/paypal fees and you are only making about $90 on it.
The Wii systems are actually selling for about $400 so you make about the same selling one of those.

...PS3 may be selling for more, but I don't hear anything about it.
You really don't hear anything about it, or at least I haven't. Probably because it is a less than stellar system.

It's not very big, only slightly bigger than a car cd player. Nice and compact.
I also think it's awesome that Wii is the #1 system by critics, PS3 may be selling for more, but I don't hear anything about it.
Cool, I think you dont hear much about PS3 is they all are on ebay or were bought by rich parents or there kids christmas presents.:lol

I never did understand the zealots. People who 'love' Sony... or Microsoft or Nintendo, and think all their new console are 'awesome' (even before they've seen them never mind played them) and think that all the other consoles are pathetic.
2 generations ago I loved my PS1, last generation I loved my Gamecube, and this generation I wasn't sure where I was going, but as soon as Nintendo released images of their new controller (and like everyone else I was expecting some gamepad looking thing... with a difference maybe, after all the talk of touch screens and such, but a gamepad none the less) and then they released pics of the wiimote.
"what the............"
was my first reaction. But once I'd realised what they were doing... "ohhh, you MOVE it... woahh, cool" I just HAD to have it.
I can't wait for the Wii to come out over here (and for me to have money to buy it, lol) it's the only system I've really been excited about this generation. Although seeing truly next-gen graphics like Gears on the 360 make me go "omg... that's IN GAME graphics" I love moments like that.
But the Wii it will be :) and maybe in a few years followed by either one of the other two. (although I said that about my gamecube, and I never DID get a PS2. although i still want one for just a few games I've been dying to have a go of)

I'm with you on a few points. The Wii is the only system I went and waited for in my whole life. I think the N64 was the last system to get me THIS excited.
I can understand the zealots mentality though, because I just always blindly trust Nintendo. And once you have faith in a company like that, you get a little 1 sided sometimes. I can see people who defend PS3 before they have it if they're Sony purists, but...I never knew any Sony purists. Nintendo has a strange kind of hard-core dedicated troop. I feel like I'm one, I've never been disapointed by them, and they always up the ante on what matters in games, HAVING FUN!
Also, I did see GOW recently played on a huge HD screen at Best Buy, OMG Really cool looking. I may get an XBOX 360 in the next yeaar or so....maybe.

Anyone who has not found one, I was told by a lil birdy that Circuit City has them or will be getting them and will be selling them on Sunday. Even though they have them they can't sell them until Sunday.

Beat Twilight Princess today. All I can say is WOW! What a great game. Worth the purchase of the system all by itself. I'm gonna hit some Red Steel and start up a new game some time next week.

Did this turn out to be true, and if so, did anybody get one who wanted one?

I didnt try, I had planned to get one in Oregon while I was there since the no tax saving would buy another controller. I will just wait until I go back, I really want it to use when I travel.

It was true and I owe mfoga a shout out -- thanks for the heads up! :D

Only hours left before I can be "part of the legend"! :rock
Release of the console is in 11 hours here in Switzerland - one day ahead of the rest of Europe! :rock
(Don't know though whether I should go pick mine up at midnight or rather wait for tomorrow morning...)

Togh luck bro. I made my wife wait with me for 16 hours in the cold. Well, I didn't MAKE her, she did it freely, it was kind of my X-Mas gift. YEAH Just say "For Christmas babe...for Baby Jesus" Baby Jesus ALWAYS works.

Just found out that the store where I preordered mine doesn't have the "midnight sale" and I can't go pick it up in another store of the same chain  , so it'll be 9 AM tomorrow for me - what's another 18 hours... :tap

I beat it on Sunday. The final boss fight was possibly the best boss fight in any Zelda game ever. I absolutely loved it.
I'm trying to get through Red Steel right now, it's just not that great of a game. As soon as I beat it, I'm going to trade it in for Ultimate Alliance. And then play Zelda again.:D

Loki,
How many hours? How many hearts did you end with?
I spent about 67 and found 18 hearts. I spent a few wastefull hours during the early parts of the game trying to get chest that were not obtainable untill later.
The Final Boss fight was great.

The Final Boss fight was great.
48 hours, 18 hearts, 30 poes, 19 bugs.
I really wanted to find all the bugs and poes, but I got really sucked into the story the last few temples and said screw it. Having played a lot of the other Zelda games recently really helped with some of the puzzles and bosses.

I think I had about 35 poes but only 8 bugs. I was never stuck in the game but this is the first Zelda game I ever finished so some parts went a little slow. In some ways I whish it was a tad harder but still an awesome game.

The only complaint I could make is that it was a bit easy. I know I'll be doing a 3 heart quest once I go through it a few more times. Only the last boss posed any trouble for me and I only needed a fairy once with him.
You never finished Ocarina??? I'd be a bit emabarrassed to say how many times I beat that game. I think is was close to a dozen.:o

I only had the very first Nintendo and then I went the other way. I am not sure why as I missed a lot of great games. To be honest though I owned OOT as my College room mate had a 64. However he was addicted to it and there was another guy that just would not let you play without saying something. Therefore, a couple hours into it I decided that I would just wait for a later time to play it. I just could not pass this one. When OOT goes to the virtual console I will download it and then finish it then.

They have a collector's disk that has the first two Zeldas, OoT, and Majora's Mask. It's for the Gamecube, which will play on the Wii. You should look for it, it's a great deal for all four of those games. There's also the Oot Master Quest disk for Gamecube that has the original game and the special version that has harder dungeons.

Any thoughts on Rayman? I'm thinking of getting Rayman and Super Swing Golf for my first Wii games.
Yes, I know all about Zelda, but I want short arcade style gameplay before I get sucked into a 60 hour commitment. :monkey1

I finally got to play some Zelda last night after a week long break due to packing and working. Man what a rush! That level protecting the Zora kid, WHOA!!! I'm having so much fun exploring the levels it's so inclusive.
I need Monkey Ball (don't take that the wrong way) but man I love that game I need to get the Wii version.
