With Power Rangers this year, and the continuation of the epic DBZ figures, along with all Kamen Riders and the upcoming Sailor Moon, that we should have an all in one thread so we can all share in our appreciation for this wonderful line of action figure collectibles! :wave

So ill begin! Hi, I'm Matt, and I'm an action figure addict! Now bring on the announcements and eye candy in one thread so i don't have to pay attention to eight different threads for the same line! :hi5:

This is my DBZ collection so far. Although you can't see him, Scouter Vegeta is behind SDCC Goku. Waiting on my Dragon Ranger is killing me.

So i'm getting into these figures and i noticed something interesting. Some of the figures have the Dragon Ball Z logo on the bottom right under the window of the box while others have the newer DBZ Kai logo. After looking around for a bit it seems some figures have one logo and some the other but there are a few that you can find with either if you look hard enough. Does anyone know why this might be?

I really need to get the Legacy Megazord. I've been putting it off for to long.

So worth it. Check out local TRUs. There's a lot easier to come by lately.

Did you pick up the Legacy Morpher yet?

On a side note to the mods, can we get the 'Oldies but goodies....Power Rangers' thread moved into this section? It's pretty much an 'all-things Power Rangers' thread. There seems to be a lot more chatter in the S.H. Figuarts thread about all-things MMPR, than in the actual thread for all-things MMPR. :lol

not all of them has one...
ink should change the name to "Bandai Tamashii nations/bluefin Official thread" though cause there's alot more figures made by them that doensn't have a thread like:

- kamen rider
- Digimon
- Gundam (seed, wing, 00, etc)
- persona 4
- Code geas
- Armored girls
- and oh so many more

plus this is perfect for people who takes pictures using a misc of figures

Thanks, much appreciated. Like Blood said there are a lot of Bandai Japan/Tamashii lines and sub lines that don't have threads or aren't big enough for their own threads. Finally a thread where I can discuss D-Arts Digimon or Tamashii Web Exclusives like RE:Cyborg 009 Joe Shimamura and not worry about it dying, lol.

Science Friction
07-12-2013, 09:59 AM
Well, back when they were showing off MetalGarurumon and the others, they also showed Tai and Agumon and an unarticulated Diaboromon. So I'd like to think we will get those eventually. I'd really love an Omegamon reissue though, it was like he was barely made or sold super fast. Puppetmon would be cool too.

blood
07-13-2013, 11:17 AM

even though i never watched the fusion series, omegamon just looks so nice and makes me want him nonetheless :drool

Science Friction
07-13-2013, 11:58 AM
So far this year D-Arts Digimon only has two releases, both web exclusives. The line has never pushed out a lot of product at a time though, so hopefully we'll see something new soon. I'd really like an Omegamon reissue and a Diaboromon release. I'm hopeful we'll see more releases soon like MetalGarurumon that have been shown previously, but who knows at this point.

blood
07-13-2013, 12:11 PM
yeah, i have feeling that D-arts in general is the slowest one with their releases compared to the other ones. Metabots only got two releases and got canceled :(

Science Friction
07-13-2013, 12:29 PM
Yeah, Metabots didn't seem to do very well unfortunately. I have hope with Digimon because Bandai finally released MetalGarurumon. I read on another forum that the WarGreymon reissue has a new head sculpt so it's more than just a repaint. That's pretty cool. I figure they wouldn't have wasted their time if they planned to can the line. I think Megaman is their best D-Arts line, followed by Pokemon now. Hopefully Bandai will continue to do US driven product because it seems to be some of their best selling items. Both DBZ & Megaman seem to get very frequent releases compared to other properties that aren't really popular here.

Science Friction
08-04-2013, 11:18 AM
The games are awesome. Of course, being that they are PS2 they're pretty old by now and most people that are new to them won't be interested. The only thing is he's pretty much alone in my collection, so I'll have to get creative when I go to display him. Maybe find some Japanese style demon or ghost figures or cheap PVC statues to build a dio with.

Figuarts? No, I don't think so, just the Robot Damashii figures. I don't really think there would be any difference though, isn't that what the RD line is? Basically Figuarts robots? Or is the quality a bit lower? I'll admit I don't collect the RD figures because they don't look as good as the model kits. The sculpts around the face masks are a bit too soft for my liking.

It's like all of us with toys, sometimes it's right under our nose, but once we discover something it's go time. lol. I guess you could call it the Gundam equivalent to Figuarts, but I think the quality could be a bit higher. I'm just spoiled by the models though I think. :)

The Gundam Wing releases are pretty awesome. They've done Tallgeese (all three I think), Leo, Space Leo, Ares, and Mercury and Tarus are coming up. Plus they've got a bunch of the Gundam's already made.

I managed to finally track down a reasonably priced D-Arts Metabee. I also bit the bullet on an preowned Rokusho for a bit more than I would have liked, but still pretty close to original retail. Awesome MM effect man, you should definitely post that in the D-Arts Megaman thread. :)

So I hit a snag not once, but twice in getting a D-Arts Rokusho. Both times things fell through. The first figure wasn't in good condition, and the second it was listed as in-stock but turns out it wasn't. I have a third ordered from another store but I have reservations about it. Hopefully third time is the charm. I don't want my Metabee to be all alone.

Yeah definitely. That or they saw all the complaints from the Terry Bogard release and are working on the body for future releases. I still can't believe how poor Terry Bogard came out. I was so hyped but they messed up the head sculpt so badly. I don't even mind how the ROM was affected, but that is an issue.

Still no luck. Like I thought, the place I tried to get him from recently was sold out and had the stock listed wrong. That's second time now that's happened. I'm just going to have to suck it up and pay $100+ for him at this point. Which sucks, because he doesn't seem to actually be worth that much, it's just people trying to sell him for that price (and he never does, which is why they are still on ebay). lol. That or wait and see if Mandarake gets him in the future.

I did finally pick up D-arts Dukemon though, so now I just need Omegamon & Black WarGreymon. I'm only getting the Designer Edition of WarGreymon, I don't see the need to get the earlier, inferior version.

blood, I notice you don't have a Robot Tamashii Tallgeese II. Talk about pricey. I was looking into the line and thinking about collecting, but seeing as I can't find a decent priced (or open preorder) for the web exclusive Shenlong I might just cherry pick. I did grab a good PO for Vayeate and Mercury though. What are the tough to find figures at this point for the Robot Damashii Gundam W line?

Yeah, i just wanted to have 1 Tallgeese and the full white, first appearance was the one i remember the most (i dont have a space Leo too and neither will i get the Flight Suit leo).

I was able to find them easily and for good prices too. Sandrock and Altron for 40 dollars. Wing gundam Zero is getting a Re-issue. Sucks that you cant find a shenlong though! he's coming out this month :panic:

yeah Wing Zero EW seems to be rising in price pretty fast but you have the normal vers and pearl coated vers. personally i like the pearl coated, gives it a nice shine and the tips of the wings are translucent.

Thanks, I really wanted to get into the line but have held off b/c I love the model kits. They're easily as nice sculpt wise as the kits though, and there is more there for us Wing fans to collect. I'm going to end up which a huge display and a bunch of grunts by next year.

We need a SF & MK line something terrible, just as long as it's better than Terry Bogard. Honestly, his head sculpt is so ugly I have to complain about it every time I mention him. He's my favorite KOF character too. They need to make a renewal version and release it as web exclusive, with a new head sculpt and improved ROM.

Darn man, you're really making me wish I had bought the pearl version, lol. That is one nice looking figure.

The Leo's can have a display of their own. we have the regular one + if you buy the option parts, you can pose like 4 or 5 Leo's each with a different weapon. then we have the space Leo, Flight mode Leo xD

btw my Aries custom (Noir) has been shipped

Yeah, the Leo's can definitely end up with their own display. I think I'll probably display some Leo's and Aries with the Tallgeese II. I'm gonna end up spending a bunch of money again, I can feel it. x.x

A MK line definitely needs gore effects! Like that 1:6 scale Sub Zero that is coming out, we need something with effects like that. Except I want classic MK designs, like MKII. I would take modern though.

I got my RD Heavy Arms Custom today. Once again I'm reminded why this is my favorite Wing mobile suit. I just love this design. I'm also surprised by how nice it looks in person, especially the paint work and plastic. It's definitely nicer than I was expecting. In particular the line work on the face is great. It's subtle and doesn't seem to come across as well in pictures I've seen. I thought I would have to reline it when I got it but it's actually just right. Not too heavy but still there.

I got lucky and BBTS' preorder for Shenlong opened back up and I got one secured. $89.99, but I have a nice POL going so shipping should only come out to a dollar or two. So in the end I'm probably paying a $25-30 premium, but that's a lot better than 2x-3x that.

So now I've secured/preorderd:

Heavy Arms
Deathscythe
Shenlong
Tallgeese I
Tallgeese II
Space Leo + Option Parts
Aries
Wing Zero EW
Mercury & Vayeate
Flight Leo

For Gundam Wing they've released most stuff, but not everything yet. You'll need to type in Robot Spirits for the US release, and Robot Damashii for the Japanese only releases. I think the next release after Mercury & Vayeate is the TV version of Wing Gundam.

They've released (to my knowledge & not in order)

Wing Gundam Zero (TV version)
Wing Gundam Zero EW ($$$$) - but can be found for a good price
Wing Gundam Zero EW (Pearl coating) ($$$$)
Wing Gundam EW ($$$$)
Gundam Epyon
Gundam Heavy Arms Custom (Kai)
Gundam Sandrock Custom (Kai)
Gundam Altron
Tallgeese I
Tallgeese II ($$$$)
Tallgeese III
Aries
Aries Noin Custom
Leo + option parts set
Space Leo + option parts set
Heavy Arms & Sandrock option parts set

Then current preorders:
Gundam Shenlong (TV version) ($$$$)
Mercury & Vayeate two pack ($$$$)
Deathscythe Hell (TV version)
Flight Leo
Leo Option parts reissue (USA)

I think that's everything. ($$$$) means expensive.

edit: my bad on Shenlong, it's the TV version.

The EW versions are the same as the EW MG model kits basically. The differences are mainly in color scheme and wings. As far the Wing Zero EW the only different between the two is the pearl coating.

Yeah, I hate Web Exclusives. They are a PITA b/c they increase in price super quick. I asked Bluefin on facebook if they were considering making it an exclusive for their new webstore and they replied, "It's not a u.s. event limited release". It was nice that they replied, but depressing. I can't believe Shenlong wasn't worth importing. Same with Tallgeese II. They sold Tallgeese III and I here, but not II. It makes me wonder if they are barred from importing certain web exclusives, but that wouldn't make much sense.

What bothers me with collecting Tamashii figures is that it's a gamble. Will the line end suddenly? Will Bluefin stop importing figures (aka Digimon it seems)? What figures will be Japanese Web exclusives but not imported? etc. It's frustrating, but the figures are just so incredible it's worth the effort almost every time.

Okay, so I doubled checked and did some reading.

RD Shenlong is the TV version, not Kai, so that's pretty cool. I had refresh my memory since it's been awhile since I watched the series.

The option parts set for Heavyarms & Sandrock are parts to convert them from Kai to TV accurate. It's pretty subtle overall but it's worth getting imo.

Kai refers to Katoki's redesigns, it's also called "Custom". I believe it came about because of recent manga which retells the Wing story. He redid the original TV Gundam's designs to match the EW movie designs. All of the recent Master Grade kits have been ver. Katoki/Kai designs. You can check those out for reference.

So, are any of you guys into Yoroiden Samurai Troopers? I've always wanted to collect the Armor Plus figures but they are $$$. I preorder the Invocation version of Ryo that is coming out next month though. I figure if you're only going to have one he's the one to have. Seiji is my favorite but it looks like he's become the most elusive release.

Yeah Ronin Warriors here. They've been making them for awhile now. The first version of Ryo, with the wildfire armor was made and actually imported here. I don't think it did that well since that was first and last time they were sold here. When the line gained a bit more steam Bandai did a "renewal" version of Ryo's wildfire armor so that it matched the other new figures. Just google Yoroiden Samurai Troopers Armor Plus. Be prepared for sticker shock though, they're all about double (or in Seiji's case almost triple) original retail value.

I have to say. Out of all of the Gundam figures I've bought so far, the two Seed figures are the best overall. I'm guessing the Perfect Strike, which is pretty new, is a bit better fit/finish than the first version, but I know the mold/colors are the same.

The Tallgeese is the low point for me so far. It's a great figure, and one of my all-time favorite MS, but I think the head could have been a bit better executed. I'm guessing Bandai was aiming for something very animated looking, and in that regard it's very clean and successful. I just think a bit more detail, mainly in the face guard, would have been nice. It's a minor complaint though, and really, in a line full of exceptional figures, it's still exceptional. lol. I'd jump on an EW version if they did one. Especially with the extra weapons from the Manga.

I've got a new camera but I'm still trying to figure it out and get some really nice pictures. Once I have the time to separate everything and take good photos I'm going to make a My Collection thread.

That said, the Ronin Warriors stuff is incredible. I wish I had started collecting the line earlier as two of each figure would have been perfect. As it is I think I'm going to average out to about $150 per figure which is pretty good considering the cost of guys like Sage and Rowan lately.

I'm trying to complete a few lines still, but aside from Digimon I've got all of the really HTF figures sorted out. I think Robot Spirits was the toughest line to commit to. So far seven figures I've bought have been Web Exclusives, with three more on the way. They're all really impressive though. I plan to pick up a second Sandrock and Heavyarms in the near future otherwise I'll have one team of five and one team of three, lol.

It's hit and miss with the PAK stuff, and I think it's an acquired taste in some cases. You either like the FF/SQEX style or you don't, you know? I think the Nolan stuff they did, at least for DKR is really impressive. I've heard it's less so for figures like Joker. Personally, I'm pretty happy with my PAK figures. There are a couple of instances where the paint could be better, but then I remind myself that these are production figures and it's not anything like Shepard or Nathan.

Yeah, I reckon they're the best you can get outside of Medicom. I personally prefer them to the Revoltech figures myself. I still need Unit-01, the Unit-01 (Awakening Ver.), and Unit-02 (Beast mode). I need to finish the new movies too.

awesome Doraemon!! I miss that manga and show so much.

Thanks guys :)
This is one of my childhood anime so i could not pass on these figures :lol

i'm actually amazed at all the possible articulations/poses and accessories you get from especially Doraemon. Hope that SHF will come out with Gian soon

I'd like to see more Doraemon and Naruto stuff in Figuarts. I'm still don't know wtf happened with the SHF Naruto stuff. One minute they're showing off painted prototypes, the next minute they don't have the license. Sounds like a big ****** up, but I hope they eventually get over it and release some figures.

Supposedly Wing is set for a February release. I'm not sure yet if it's a retail or web release. I'm hoping it's a retail release. Hopefully that means Deathscythe (TV ver.) will get a late spring/summer release.

Oh, Robot Spirits Mercurius & Vayeate are released on the 26th this month, I should have mine early November if all goes well and I'll do a review.

Science Friction

Thanks, I'm trying! lol Most of the Tamashii stuff is actually buried behind the Ronin Warriors and Play Arts Kai figures. Though you get a better idea of it if you check out my collection database. I love MFC, such a great website, lol.

We probably did, lol. There are a couple of things I was thinking about in regards to the flame effects, but I don't really feel like spending $30+ to get one effect for Shenlong. I'll live if I never find one, but it would be awesome.

By the way, have you seen the G.E.M. statues for Tai and Matt? They're definitely out of scale with the D-Arts figures.. but everything is, lol. I'm getting them and they'll definitely go in my Digimon display. They're perfect since all we've gotten from Adventure Season I is WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon anyway.

:goodpost:

Yeah, Marvel Comics Figuarts would be amazing. I doubt it will happen though, at least any time soon. Bluefin has talked about the trouble with getting and handling the Marvel license, and I don't see it changing. It's a shame. When Hasbro is good, which I would honestly say is half the time, they really produce stuff that is on par with Figuarts I think. You don't get the nice accessories, and the paint isn't always as nice, but the sculpts and articulation are comparable. In fact, I would say I prefer the new ASM2 Spider-Man over the Mafex version. As you guys can see, I own a ton of Japanese figures too.. so I'm not biased either way. I think IF Bandai could get the license for Marvel Comics the figures would either be amazing or crap. I think it depends on how they handle them. Would they reference specific artists, and who? Or would they make them anime style, and how much anime style? Marvel vs Capcom level, or all out Marvel Disk Wars style? lol. So.. I don't know. I would be more interest in a Marvel vs Capcom license than a straight up Marvel Comics one personally. That way we know what we're in for and they will work better with figures like Megaman; for example.

By the way awesome choices of characters!

Not sure how many of you are still keeping up with the Tiger & Bunny figuarts, but I just got blue rose in and wanted to take some pictures.

She's good, much better than I was expecting. The last s.h. figuarts figure like this I picked up was Nami, and the difference in what they've been able to do since has been huge.

She's much more stable, much better sculpt for her faces relative to a lot of the older non-helmeted/masked figures in the line.
