This figure's got good balance, more so when on museum pose. I had mine displayed since day one without stand in a detolf.

Hey guys, just got this figure for $180, not sure how much he's going for nowadays but I assume it's a fair deal. Haven't bought a Robocop figure in 21 years. :lol

I think it's FANTASTIC aside from the silver paint job, which isn't too bad in person and under proper lighting. I can't believe how much shelf presence this guy has. Just superb all around.

I was wondering, is there anything I should be cautious about? I got tired of trying to fit the gun so I used some blue tacks. I also pulled out the jaw when switching faceplates. Is there anything else that all Robo owners should be aware about?

It's really a good figure, its overall sculpt and shelf presence makes me not mind the rubber parts and the paint that could have been better :)

Here in our country the lowest price I've seen so far is around $245. I got mine for almost $270 and I'm happy as its SRP os $300, so you really hit the jackpot with that, bud! BTW, that pic is cool! :D

Wow... that's going to be an awesome display... Post pics when you're done!well i checked the movie and found out i won't need glasses, and heads are not what i remembered.
the only reason it might turn out awesome is due to Jedster's robocop room diorama )

1. Serve the public trust.
2. Protect the innocent.
3. Uphold the law.

Completed the Charging station room and now RoboCop can also chill inside the room with the mechanical chair too.
It's been a long process to get this room done. But, certainly proud of it.

it's a pity that robocop is such a midget. he was filmed to be a head bigger than any human on screen as well as the terminator, they should be at least the same height.

Top service for Collectibles Direct & he is impressive to say the least.
My only Diecast figure but he feels so good & real weight to him that just shouts quality.

No real pics other than box shots as I won't really get time to pose until the weekend so will hold off pics until then

Here's my Robo displayed. Once I get the Battle Damaged + Murphy set I will have a dedicated Robocop shelf.

P, did you buy it in the end? or is it still pending?

Yeah, you are right, it seems a bit short, I might try the abdomen expand trick to make him taller.

I love it, I know it has its faults, but you have to love it because it pisses on any other Robocop figure.

Yesterday I watched the Robocop movie with the figure in front of me, and as stated before the color in the figure should be more blue, darker and purple. Dont know if I will go the extra mile and repaint it....

The thing is though this stuff is so hit and miss in regards to aftermarket value. Most stuff goes for more or at least around the regular price. This is one seller who has a good deal on just the figure, not sure if I'm going to bite on it though.

- robocop on chair for robocop charging room
- robocop standart city patrol pose
- robocop for semi-damaged scene with ED
i'd get 4 for all faceplates and poses, but i seriously ran out of shelf place.

I picked up the mechanical chair version for what seems like a pretty good deal off Amazon last week. While I've had the figure since Wednesday, I've been paranoid to open it because of the chance of the rubber damaging over time. Shin-etsu grease is supposed to be the best solution to preventing the rubber creasing and cracking, right?

This is only my second Hot toys, and my first was the IM3 Silver Centurion, and I've never handled figures with this sort of rubber deterioration issue. So I'd appreciate any tips on how to keep the piece as pristine as possible.

Yeah at some point I think I'm going to attempt repainting the armor darker myself. Because as sleek and clean as the existing paint looks, ultimately it's just not nearly close enough to this for my taste:

170576

Heck it probably doesn't even need to be some gorgeous translucent paintjob to look like an improvement either. Just create a mix that looks like the basic color, airbrush on some of the more blueish-purple hues over that, then gloss the whole thing up afterwards.

I won't do it if I where you. The attached shot is not from the remastered version of the movie and it looks too dark and terribly blueish. Buy the remastered version (http://www.amazon.com/RoboCop-Unrated-Directors-Cut-Blu-ray/dp/B00GST8UB8/) on Amazon and see how the colors looked like in the theater at the time the movie was released. I remember when I saw the movie back in 1987 that Robocop's costume was much lighter.

love the remastered BD, but on the same hand, it also showed a lot of the flaws on the rubber of the costume
you could see how it was really custom and inconsistent throughout the film
watched it on my oled tv, which also showed the differences in darker colors
still wouldn't have it any other way

No word on how it happened; if it teared when movin the arm or it deteriorated... but given the problems some had with ED209, we PROBABLY should be careful from now on?!?!

Well ether way its not good, the figure is designed to bend at the elbow so it shouldn't happen, I always assume this could happen so any figure I have with rubber joints typically stays in a museum pose in my collection, still its a poor design or poor matierals and shouldn't happen.

Eisselmann
04-08-2015, 08:35 AM
Yup.
I think the choice of materials for the joint covers on both ED209 and RoboCop is really poor.

As good as they engineered Robos body, they still used this cheap, shiny rubber for the joint sleeves.

This is my Robocop, i took this picture yesterday

My Robocop was exposed 4 days with "almost 90 degree" arm angle and the **** happened..

Just to be clear, i'm a reviewer, so obviously i have extra caution with my action figures. I never let them on direct sun light, or play with it. My entire collection is perfectly exposed... that's why i'm really upset with this.

I just looked at my robo this morning.

Right under the spot where Diegos rubber sleeve teared is the probably metallic hinge for the forearm and it has a sharp or ar least thin edge.
I think that teared the rubber due to the 90 degrees pose.

We should be careful and only move the forearm until the tension of the rubber can be felt.
That's around 45-50 degrees I think...

I was hoping this wouldnt become an issue. It's still too early to think it's widespread but it's worrisome at the very least. Paint and rubber kept me from this one but I had planned on the BD. Urg. Another I could have bought in a heartbeat was the Arkham City Batman but if they can't get a couple joints right, whoa.

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to share some pics of a repaint that I tried recently. I was pretty disappointed in the "chrome" paint of the new Robocop release, so I tried to paint him up based on reference from the 1st movie. He kinda looks like a hybrid between Robo 1 and 2... but there was a lot of color in Robo 1... blues, purples, grays.
Let me know what you think. I took some shots side-by-side with the stock figure next to the repaint. Really hope they release a Robo 1 with a movie accurate paint job in the future. We all know Hot Toys can do awesome paint jobs - wonder why they didn't even try with Robo?

Bought it on the Tax Refund sale for 20% off and it shipped a week apart from Gamora, but arrived on the same plane and I got friggin' taxed because they combined the two separate packages! So he cost me $150 more and I paid double shipping. I get taxed when it's a combined total over $300-ish. And there are all kinds of dumb fees, so we don't destroy the countryside.

Yes this fig is just too silvery so I just now cancelled my order of him and even with the $25 discount it wasn't worth it.

I'm now hoping for a version of RoboCop from the RoboCop 2 movie that has more blue and purple tones to it and that's at least 70% diecast.

I love the color of this Robocop! Yes it's silver but it does have purple tones. I think this is how Robocop should have looked in the 1987 movie.

Also, now way they're going to make a 70% die cast version, this Robocop is already very heavy!

I bet the Battle Damaged Robocop will have the same paint application as this version, just my 2 cents.

It's like how I imagine Robocop's armour would look if he were being 'dressed up' for some kind of ceremonial event. As they painted it it is beautiful, it's just not what it actually looked like in the film. Needed to be darker. Such a pity, this would have been a damn near perfect figure, heck the whole line was almost 'perfect' but between ED-209's rubber, his badly redubbed voice and disjointed sound effects and Robocop's paint it falls short of the magnificence we could have had.

Nevertheless I own all the releases so far and will complete the line with BD Robocop and Alex Murphy and I'm really looking forward to that.

I'm really not too bothered with the paint since the sculpt is just awesome. There are only a few things in the figure that bothers me and that's the use of rubber parts , it has no full face inside the helmet and that I cannot find the batteries needed for the voice gimmick. I'm still happy with it and I might consider getting the BD version with the Murphy figure.

I know, I just sold mine on Monday. It looked great, the sculpting, the look & the weight of it made it all seem like a great figure......but
The glaringly obvious wrong colour of the metal, the most simple feature and it was out. I didn't like a silver robocop

Does anybody know if robocops arms pop out by pulling on them or if you gotta take the screws off on the inside of the arm? I only ask, because the paint on the left bicep is cracking and i wanna get it replaced if possible. Its been months since i got it off of sideshow, so i would have to go the ebay route for a replacement.

Has anyone noticed cracking or degradation of the rubber insides Robo's elbows and knees? With Summer just starting, my apartment can get pretty damn hot (no air conditioning) and I have some concerns about heat (and potentially humidity) leading to damage. I don't know if that's a realistic thing to be concerned about or not.

Question--I've read that the chinstrap swings out to make swapping faceplates easier (my instructions do not show this). Before I go screwing with the cinguard, can anyone explain where it detaches from and how?

I've already scratched two of my chins swapping the faces. Thank god the damage is hidden.

Ich can be pulled out of the head on both sides of the head just where the ears would be positioned.
The Chinguard is bendable, so it shouldn't break.

The picture we saw a few weeks back showed a torn elbow sleeve, probably caused by heavy bending of the elbow...

I never display him seated. I don't wanna risk tearing up the rubber cover on the knees. Right now museum poses are the only safe pose for figures with rubber joints. So far there's only one or two people who have torn elbows and I hope those are jist isolated cases. I already applied a water based rubber protector on the rubber parts just to be sure it doesn't dry out.

Im have trouble with choosing toy after i see the eb version of the Robocop, but if im check the final result of both toy, I can see - if i want a non posable static statue, eb is a good choose -, but where is Robocop with the classic Robo poses?

Now i have the hot toys robo, but i dont know....lookin more Weller and lifelike than eb Robo 3. Somebody have both?

Everytime if i see any pose of EB Robo i can cry:( a perfect 1\4 Robo but without any potencial. What do you think guys? i know this is a 100x times eated bone.

What im not like in hot toys robo: 1.,again a long neck -> lookin too narrow -> everybody can fix this problem, just replace the head peg to a shorter peg, or just remove the rubber ring (or make shorter) like on my pictures.

2.,articulated big gorilla hands why?? the fisted hands lookin good, why need hot toys make so big? i know, i know articaulated fingers need some place, but not so much...i can live without these fingers if i get a better lookin hands.

Some pictures about my positions (hehe i have the original stand, i like better - and can hold good the robo):

I don't think the neck is too long.
In fact I think it's just about the right size.

And the hands... dunno... never regarded them as too big.

The lack of a formed gunholding hand is indeed a shame.
At least, they should have molded a gap for the pistol shaft into his right hand so the gun would sit right and the fingers could easily grip it.

helligab
05-22-2015, 02:27 AM
Hm this is i think life vs toy thing. If you check the action scenes, if Weller hold the arm higher the chest shield comes little bit higher and the neck lookin shorter.

Hands: easy to see, in scenes where Weller hold the auto-9, Weller hand ending by the holster end, not by ammo clip, currently the hand center piece is little bit bigger for this fingers, this is what for me not lookin good, fist hands size is good.

I think the other side Enterbay failed in this case, but not with hand size, the auto-9 holster is longer by EB.

EndoSickness

I like the hand.
The way that it´s supposed to REALLY grab it totally and perfectly simulates and shows the way and the problems Weller must have had grabing the gun.

Yeah the hands, if somebody put side by side the fisted hand and the articulated, the articaulated is bigger. If i have the older original robocop i can try with the sculpted hands.

Somebody not have have the original Robocop? to check how looks the new robo with the sculpted pistol holding hands?

Colors? everbody know hot toys can release a second or a third variant (like before) with blue style paint and with gunarm.

Maybe i order a enterbay robocop too to compare and i take the better lookin, because i have not found any good comparism.

I dunno maybe I'm in the minority here but for me anyway the enterbay version looks more proportionally accurate to whats seen on screen. The hot toys version looks like an idealised version of Robocop with its thin legs, small chest and big head. The enterbay version if you look at the pics mimicks the barrel chested look of Robocop right down to a tee.

^I also agree. HT's is definitely better when it comes to articulation and overall build/quality. BUT, the EB version still looks better and more accurate proportion-wise to me. Both are too silver in color, but the EB version is not bright and reflective like HT, which is what really kills the HT paint job for me.

I never thought an inaccurate paint job could ruin a figure for me, but I think that's why the novelty of the HT RC wore off so quickly for me. I was impressed with it for about a week, and then I just grew to dislike it more and more afterward. Only reason I still have it in the collection is because I plan to repaint it eventually. Really hoping the battle damage on the new HT version will make the paint job appear darker. It'd be a pain to have to repaint that one too.

It's sad because it's been proven (by a member here) that it can be done (an accurate Robocop 1 paintjob). Same goes for the Terminator Endoskeleton - I have a custom figure from a member here with a dead-on accurate paintjob which unfortunately will probably not be achieved by Hot Toys if they do a new 1:6 figure. It certainly wasn't replicated by the QS002 figure.

Certainly yes, very polarising. I'm in the middle, both glad to have it and yet frustrated that the paintjob didn't end up quite so perfect as it appeared in the promotional pics. I aint selling it though.

The sculpt is fantastic, undeniably Peter Weller and HT provided a perfect array of facial expressions for him (unlike Batman Returns where 2 of the faceplates are virtually identical, wtf )

And the articulation, both in the amount of POA and the range of motion for each joint, is far beyond what anyone expected from a Robocop figure.

It is sad and a real shame when you think about it. HT went through all the trouble to recreate pretty much every detail on the figure, and then they totally drop the ball on one of the most important details, the paint. I'll admit, the RC1 paint job is complex and not easily replicated, but to make the color almost completely different is just...weird.

I'm also glad to have it too. Would rather have it than not, but I love AND hate this figure at the same time. It's close to perfect in every regard, EXCEPT for the paint :gah: Only way I can describe it is dating a hot ass girl that is perfect in every way, except she's bald or missing a tit. It may be just one detail, but it's a glaring detail, that HT's just totally neglected. Weird analogy, I know, but that's how I feel about this figure. Why even bother to R&D everything about RC1 if you're not going to bother to paint him the correct, or close to correct color?? :slap

Even if the line tanked Hot Toys gave us more than I would have ever expected them to. Robocop, Battle Damaged Robocop, Murphy in cop gear, and ED-209 is a pretty good lineup and more than a lot of films get. Realistically I don't know what else would have been made. It is too bad that the ED-209 had so many issues. The paint on Robocop may not be perfect but I'm overall satisfied with it and I think the upcoming two pack will be a solid release too.

I wonder how much is made strictly for Asian interests tho. This is a very American Hero and a large part of Americana in my opinion. I think it would sell in Asia as the movie had a large impact globally. But I'm not surprised if this was more popular in America. I'm Canadian and love the movie and really love the figure. This will always trump all the numerous Iron Man suits made. I don't see how someone could justify that a never seen in film Iron Man suit variant is better than one of the best representations of a pop culture icon. Furthermore, I cannot see arguments made against the newly released B/D Robo and those who say the parts should have been included in the original. Again, look at all the IM variants (without a head sculpt). I think that the figures released are more than justified regardless of sales. I'm sad these haven't sold well (and I have no source to back this up, just hear this fact from forum members) since I do put these way over a lot of the other releases. Of course I'm biased. Mark 42 and 43 paint is not accurate also anyway but sell like hot cakes though. People complaining Mark 45 paint being not accurate also yet queue to preorder it

No love for Robocop in Asia? Dont care, we can give him all he wants in America and Europe !!! Guess they are more into Transformers, Marvels and those giant robots.

Oh, I agree. Did you see how HK reacted to the Mark XLV PO at Secret Base? They had to call in police for crowd control. CROWD CONTROL. :ohbfrank:

Get that face put in properly DarkSpidey! Pull out the chin guard at the left side and it'll slide all the way in. It just looks wrong in those pics. Great paintwork tho!

The mystery about swapping this head with a RoboMurphy head has been solved. Have you guys seen this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjBTaBJNv1I

I may cancel the BD RoboMurphy figure and just get the RoboMurphy head now to complete all the look/posing options I need.

Congrats to you both, I think you're going to be happy campers. It really is a brilliant figure. I know some have been griping about the paint and how it's not movie accurate, but if the fig was 100% movie accurate than it would look pretty janky indeed. I agree with a previous poster in saying that this an idealized version of Robo, and I love it.

Yeah I love the figure and yes I would agree it is an Idealized version of Robocop. Ive said it before many times that if you are so stuck on the inaccuracy of the colour to not buy you are missing out on a great figure. And especially with the newly released B/D version and Alex Murphy, this figure is a must have for Robo fans and collectors.
