Yea, Figuarts are too small for me for the price. Imagine if they did it in 1/6, the posability of these would be awesome, probably be better than HTs, but not sculpt wise though.

Wow, $70 + Shipping for a one of them. They're about 5.5 inches. They look great but they should have really lowered the price to at least $50 or lower. Or at least make them a bit bigger.

I can't imagine the price if they made these 1/6 scale :slap

SuperHobo

BBTS is overcharging for these things because they have to import them. Since Hasbro has the 6 inch iron man license here in the states Bandai/bluefin can't sell them here. Thankfully I got my preorders for both iron man and war machine at hobbysearch for $76 together. It was even cheaper at amiami, but I wasn't quick enough to grab them.
http://www.anime-export.com/ still has them, but they're a little more expensive.

70 a piece for 5 inch oddly proportioned figures seems crazy when you can get the 6 inch hasbro ones for about 35 for the pair...

The Hasbro 6 inch pair is good for the money, but by comparison to the figuarts, they look gummy and they have a holes sticking out on the joints. The figuarts are no hot toys by any means, but they are pretty sharp looking figures that are actually pretty close to 6 inches at 15.5cm. Most likely they'll also have diecast feet for better balance. For $35-$40 each at the import shops I think that's fair.

These two are still due for release in Japan only. Apparently Bandai only has the license for these figures in Japan and preorders were cancelled in other parts of Asia.

Thanks for the link, I ordered a War Machine. Just waiting for them to send the paypal payment request. I ended up buying a Mark VI off ebay for $74. I knew once I got the War Machine in hand I'd have to have the Iron Man as well. I have never liked the Hasbro Mark VI, something about it really bugs me.

Sorry for the crappy iPad pic, but my computer completely died on me last night so I can't upload pictures from my camera.

These guys are a hell of a lot of fun to pose and they do so extremely well. These are some of the nicest 6 inch figures I've ever owned, even nicer than Mafex Spidey and Batman. Really wish they'd make some more Iron Man figures, but I doubt it will happen since they're having licensing issues.

Good to hear! So far people who have been getting these in hand, have really been digging them. Again, shame about the licensing issues Bandai had with these because it looks like they're selling well.

Hot Toys needs really more competition in good Iron Man figures. Their figures are too expensive nowadays. Unfortunately these are not but for this price they also don't pretend to be.

I got my IM and WM figures yesterday and they are fantastic action figures. I wouldn't pay the bloated/inflated prices at BBTS, but for $35-40 each for these guys they are fantastic. Articulation is top notch and the detail is pretty sharp for 6 inch figures. The paint on my copies is good, but not great and could be a little cleaner in some areas (much sharper and cleaner than any hasbro release). In person I like the proportions on the figures, a little stylized but I think it works. I'll be snapping some pictures of these guys in the following days.

I don't know about the paint quality on the HT mark VI, because I missed out on that, but I have the others Mark II, III, IV, War Machine etc. and I can honestly say the paint has a great finish to it. In someways surpasses the HT's mold.

My only big complain would be that the figure needs a stand, fortunately I have a spare that fit, and maybe the light up hands, chest and eyes would've made this over the top, but these are just minor complaints. All in all a fantastic piece and I can't stop posing him :yess:

Just got this pair today. Wasn't quite sure what to expect but these guys are little works of art. The articulation is amazing but IMO, the coolest feature are the diecast feet. Really gives the figures some heft.

All that's missing is a light up feature but they make up for it with the molded repulsor blasts and muzzle flashes.

I really hope they continue to do more armors, which will allow me to not have to pick up the PI 1/12 scale Marks.

Loving it so far built solid. The only flaw i would say is that the joints could be tighter. Finally an iron man that can be posed in it's landing pose without looking too weird :blissy

If its articulated similar to War Machine/Patriot then it can, but only if you pop the leg loose of the joint and just blutak it at that angle for display.

Hey... Thats cheating!

rocbolt
05-09-2014, 03:58 PM
Maybe, but it is the only way it works. Believe me that is the first pose I tried with War Machine, but there is not enough clearance in the ball joint to have the outside of the hip pointed straight down. Its very easy to pop the leg loose and it will sit in the right position, almost in contact with the joint but not clicked into place. Some bluetak or equivalent is necessary to keep it from falling over.

I have the Bandai Mark Vi and Mark XLII. Both are cool (except for the wrist guard pieces on the mark XLII that keep popping off) but I got these guys long before I journeyed into the Hot Toys rabbit hole.

The little Bandai guys do not scratch my geek itch nearly as much as the 1/6th scale figures do. Hot Toys Iron Man figures inspire a great deal of awe when I look at them on my shelf.

Articulation is where the little guys win though ... I have my Mark XLII sitting on his couch and VI in a ground punch pose. So they at least still have a home. Unfortunately, I am burdened by an Iron Patriot that I never ended up opening because my first Hot Toy (Mark XXXIII) came a few days later. Definitely going to have to unload my IP now since I, of course, had to eventually get the Hot Toys version haha

Still, I'm considering picking up the Bandai Mark XLIII as a cost cutting move in case I end up trying to get Hot Toys Hulkbuster.

Yeah I just have kept the wrist guards off mine cause I mess around with the figure enough they fall off pretty easily. They are great figures for the money but yeah, Hot Toys dwarf them- which they'd better considering they are 4x the price

Imaging the Figuarts with the Play Imaginative 1/4 Iron Men :lol The wrist guards on the Mark 42 are SO annoying though, yeah. I almost lost one of them and only found it a week later. EVERY hand should have had one or maybe it should have been fixed onto the figure somehow. I still need a Mark VI though.

Also the prices on these Iron Men figuarts REALLY jump after they're released, so I'd PO these as soon as possible.

Is there any difference between the Figuarts, Revoltech and Figma figures, I mean is one considered to be superior to the other 2?

ronri

Is there any difference between the Figuarts, Revoltech and Figma figures, I mean is one considered to be superior to the other 2?

Revoltech once sort of popularized the idea of super-articulated Japanese figures, but their production quality are less tighter and refined than Figuarts and Figma. Over the years they've been treated as more or less "inferior" compared to those other two, especially since their humanoid characters tend to be more stylized (for better or worse, their MGR Raiden figure being one of the better examples). Over the years they've attempted different directions to improve their joints/sculpts and even started a line of 4" figures.

Max Factory's Figma rose in popularity mainly due to its introduction of fairly accurate depictions of anime characters. Their productions are more focused on anime characters and recently they've been improving even more with sharper designs, better joint systems and clean-cut paint. Unfortunately, their expertise in producing anime figures can often affect their movie/live-action-inspired figures where their sculpts, while sharp, tends to be simpler than what you would expect from a movie-inspired figure. Still, in terms of producing 1/12 anime figures, they're still unmatched in terms of consistency and the amount of characters they've put out.

Bandai's Figuarts mainly became popular through their mech and Tokusatsu figures only to branch out even further touching various properties such as famous Japanese kaiju (Godzilla) and later, classic anime like Dragon Ball Z. This essentially catapulted them into the spotlight as high-end 1/12 figure creators. Their production quality is equal to Max Factory's Figma in some respects. The main difference between the two is that Figma tends to be more smooth and clean-cut in the production of their final products (very suited for anime characters) while Figuarts tends to be more rough and textured (very suited for realistic/detailed sculpts).

One could argue that Figma and Figuarts are the top competitors of the 1/12 Japanese market, but even that's a bit questionable considering how often it is that Figma and Figuarts tend to tackle very different properties barring the occasional overlaps (e.g. Cardcaptor Sakura)

ShaneX
03-20-2015, 01:44 PM
It's really objective..,but in my opinion, revoltech would be in third place out of the 3 just because their figures are more stylized and the [usually super articulated] joints are very present (not that figuarts and figma joints can't be seen). Revoltech does have some nicely detailed figures (Metal Gear Raiden is one that I have and like & the Bobba Fett they have coming out looks great). Figmas tend to be more costly than figuarts but figuarts make great figures as well. My friends have a bunch of Kamen riders and the paint and Sculpt and articulation on them is great. I have a figuarts Iron Patriot (hope to get the Figuarts Mark 45) as well as the Figma Mark 7. Side by side, the Figuarts Patriot is a little shorter than the Figma mark 7 and in my opinion, the Figma mark 7 looks more "high end". But then agan the Figma mark 7 is widely regarded as a greatly detailed figure in that scale. Both figures have great articulation and I never had a problem getting them to pose the way I liked (note: I don't have a Revoltech Iron Man but there are tons of reviews online). I also have some sword art and Attack on titan figmas and they're greatly detailed with good articulation too. So in the end, its up to you and how much your willing to spend. If you want great articulation over aesthetics and not to spend too much, go with Revoltech. If you want more of a high end looking figure- weigh the pros and cons between figuarts and figma.

Now...if Figma happened to make a Mark 45 that would be very interesting. But for now, that Figuarts 45 looks perfect :)

You pay when the items come into stock. You can also keep them in a 'private warehouse' for up to 60 days from the date of the last item purchased and cancel your preorders at any time before they come into stock without getting into trouble.

I honestly don't know why anyone still uses AmiAmi.

Just over 11 hours to go.

AmiAmi is slightly cheaper on ticket price, but their shipping options are limited, they get very arsey about preorder cancellations and customer complaints and monthly order isn't as good as Private Warehouse. Not worth the small saving, in my opinion.

I got into figmas and figuarts about 1.5 years ago and I'm glad I did. Some of the greatest sculpt, detail and paint in that scale. But above all else-Articulation.

I actually think I enjoy my Figuarts and figmas more than the HT I have mainly because I can constantly create some dynamic poses and scenes. That really boosts the fun.

I'm definitely getting myself a 45. First I want to compare the prices between sites though

FedEx to the UK usually comes out at 3000 yen for multiple figures. If you're in the US go for EMS, you get good service from it there and it'll be slightly cheaper. It won't be calculated until you ask them to ship out everything that's available in your private warehouse anyway.

Bigbadtoystore will charge you some serious latecomer's tax. Personally I don't think there's a chance in hell of Bluefin bringing these to the West if Hasbro have anything to do with it. Same with the SHF Star Wars figures.

If you can get them all at HLJ pay for them as they become available then have them private warehoused until the last one comes out in September, then have them shipped as one large parcel. Combined shipping will be about $30-40 for all four that way.

Wooo. Good to hear that :)

I preordered the 45 on hlj yesterday. It was 4930 JPY but now when you look at it on the site it says 5800.

Any ideas?
It still says it's 4930 in my order history

Early bird discount. They always offer a discount on the items they sell vs Japanese retail price, but the earlier you order the more significant the discount is.

TheToySource.com (http://www.thetoysource.com) is another website to watch as they usually get all the Tamashii stuff.

Amazon MIGHT get them, but they have been extremely strange with Tamashii pre-orders lately. They seem to get some items and then ignore others...I don't know what's going on. I would not hold out for Amazon and would pre-order them when you see them.

I knew these would sell-out quick, I was watching BBTS like a hawk for them! :) Keep an eye out on BBTS...as folks pre-order from other places or "preferred" vendors, some people might cancel their BBTS orders. If Amazon gets them I will likely cancel my BBTS orders since I have PRIME.

MODS - Perhaps the name of this thread should be changed to Avengers Figuarts?

noticed this while zooming in on some pics: seems that cap, thor and hulk each has a gap in the head. maybe Figuarts is implementing some kind of PERS (Parallel Eyeball Rolling System) like the figma avengers?

Correct - sort of. According to the descriptions on the Tamashii website they're all coming with interchangeable eye plates looking to the left, right and straight ahead.

Obviously Mk 45 looks killer, surprised by how good Cap and Thor look in these pics. Thor especially is a decent likeness for Hemsworth.

I actually think they did pretty well with Thor and Cap in terms of the likeness (especially at 1/12 scale).

Hulk is the only one that truly bothered me, enough that I actually skipped him. He looks more like comic Hulk than a Hulked-out Mark Ruffalo, and while that might not be so bad, I simply prefer the latter. This might be the only instance in which I actually prefer Hasbro's sculpt for the Marvel Legends figure, since it actually has a greater resemblance to Mark Ruffalo. I'll most likely pick that up instead of the SHF figure, though I'll definitely repaint it so it looks less toyetic (height-wise they're pretty close anyway, with the ML figure being approx. 1cm taller if my guesstimates are correct).

It depends where you're located. Also AmiAmi discounted the figures slightly but they're already sold out of some like Cap. AmiAmi also ships from Japan so depending on your location, shipping costs might be higher.

The shipping is what gets me. Idk how much it would usually cost to ship to california from amiami. Amiami has iron man for $41 ( shipping ??? )Bbts has him for $59.99 with shipping coming at $7.00 and change I'm looking at $67 for him. It would seem amiami would be cheaper depending on shipping.

Try doing an order at AmiAmi all the way until the point where you "confirm" the order to see what they estimate your shipping at.

Another option is TheToySource who offers free shipping for orders over $150. They're pretty solid and actually do better packing jobs than BBTS in my opinion.

They're a bit smaller compared to modern Marvel Legends. These tend to scale better with Figma, Mafex, Mattel's Movie Masters, and the Iron Man figures from the first movie.

I pre-ordered mine from a local store here in my country. Most of the local stores here open 2 kinds of pre-order for SHF figures: the asian release (shipped directly from bandai to be sold to asian countries) and the japan release (released in japan first then shipped personally by the sellers to be sold here). So basically the Japan version is a local japanese release, not an international official release. The Japan release usually arrives faster but more expensive due to the shipping cost.

3 days ago all the sellers here have cancelled all the asian release pre-order and refunded all the money. The only one that isn't cancelled is the japan release. They said that apparently Bandai had a licensing problem with Marvel and are only allowed to release the figures in japan only. So if you still want to get the SHF Avengers AOU figures, better get them from sellers that ship the figures directly from japan because for now Bandai will not be releasing them internationally.

cmiiw.

get the figuarts one. had the PI for about a week then I sold it. loose joints, weird articulation (especially on the knees) and not so good sculpting imo (eyes too big, faceplate doesn't align properly, body too skinny, black color too dark, etc).

it does have a light gimmick and more accessories (stand, backdrop), but with a higher price ($110) than the figuarts ($90) the PI isn't worth it imo.

check out the pics for the PI War machine mark 2: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.441038606016748.1073741884.392873847499891&type=3

I have the Figuarts Iron Patriot and it does not disappoint. Great articulation and sculpting, paint is flawless. awesome figure! I also pre-ordered the figuarts war Machine mark 2, and if it's anything like the Figuarts Iron Patriot then it's definitely going to be a lot better than the PI release.

Pre-ordered Hulkbuster figuarts from N-Y. Thanks for the info about it!

Pre-ordered this badass Hulkbuster, hope it turns out great cause all the pics there are really awesome and the articulation might be even better than the Hot Toys version.

Also, does anybody know if the helmet is removable? Maybe somebody has seen it displayed that way a comic convention or something?

I think I saw on toyark someone comment that those pieces were the die case used in the figure, but not sure if that is accurate.

That's what I was actually thinking before, but thought "nah", that would be lame. Maybe it's removable parts or something. If those are the only diecast parts, then yuck.

I'm actually in the middle of pre ordering this right now, & am at, what I think is, the last click before my pre order is active. Good timing with your post. Now I'm backing off a bit again. When I saw the crazy price at BBTS, & it already being sold out, I was thinking I better get it from one of these Japanese online stores before they sell out.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do now.

I have a lot of their DBZ and Power Rangers stuff- excellent quality always. So I'm not worried about there only being a small bit of diecast in it, if true.

No matter what, it is gonna sell out sooner than you think. I'm surprised the Japanese sites still have it available tbh. I recommend you make a decision soon, perhaps preorder at Nippon-Yasan and choose to pay later....that way you can cancel if you wish (assuming they let you cancel pre-orders?).

Nippon Yasan is actually where I'm at. I'm at the "Choose your payment method screen". Still have the tab open, & trying to do some research. Watching a Chogokin Mazinger (I don't know who that is) review on YouTube, & might watch some more, to get a feel for Chogokin figures.

I have SHF DBZ & Power Ranger stuff as well, & they are nice. But I'm not so familiar with their Chogokin figures.

Edit: Bah, diecast parts in chogokin figures vary in the YouTube reviews. I want to know for sure what the diecast parts will be on Hulkbuster before pre ordering :thud:

Does anyone have any recommendations for where else to find the age of Ultron figures since they are sold out at bbts?

I mean it's a Figuarts, it's gotta be pretty damn good. I own figuarts and I'm extremely pleased with their quality. Not sure what makes it a Chogokin? The extra diecast?

Nippon Yasan is out of stock of all the figuarts Avengers.

Hulkbuster is available, but all others in the line are sold out, which is what AIR was asking about.

It's advertised as a "Bandai Chogokin x S.H. Figuarts" figure in the asian market, I'm guessing because of the diecast parts.

I was pretty close to pre ordering, but came across a video by "Budget Stark" which mentioned "King Arts" doing a diecast Hulkbuster at 1/9 scale, & maybe with a $400 price tag. I think I'm heading towards choosing that.

The small amount of diecast on the Bandai figure (if it's true what peeps are saying about the pic posted earlier) was a bit of a turn off for around $300. I actually still want the Bandai figure, to "play" with, but not at that price, & while having other options.

I think I might be annoyed with myself for not pre ordering, if the Bandai figure winds up being more diecast than what I was told.

The good thing about this Bandai Hulkbuster is that it has a Figuarts Hulk to create a fight scene whereas the King Arts doesn't have any 1/9 Hulk figures so far to go with if they produce that would be great.

Yeah, would be fun posing SHF Hulk vs SHF Hulkbuster.

I think I'd rather do that with the HT Hulk vs HT Hulkbuster though, even if you can't get the HT figures in as many dynamic poses as the SHF figures.

Oh man, thinking about it, the SHF Hulkbuster costs more than the HT Hulk :lol

jeremychng

Yeah, you can almost buy 2 HT figures with the money it costs.

I passed the HT Hulkbuster because it is way too big and outrageously expensive. I was hoping the SHFiguarts Hulkbuster will be more reasonable, but that is not the case. This exclusive diecast Hulkbuster is like the price of a HT diecast! No way! I guess I just have to pass up this big fella...

Trying very hard but I'm just not seeing the $350+ value here. If the helmet opened up and there's a mk43 bust inside then maybe....but seeing how they haven't shown it off I doubt that's happening. This thing is only 25cm tall - little over 9 inches. I wonder what Bandai was thinking...

One SHF Hulkbuster could probably get me 1 or 2 Hot Toys figures or a couple SHFs. I'm already getting the big four from The Avengers SHF line so this year is pretty expensive.

Hnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggg. It not worth it unfortunately.
