Hey All
Since getting recently obsessed with Firefly and Serenity. I decided i was going to try and make a Zoe figure. She hasnt got a 6" figure either, which i didnt think was fair. Im better at 12" Figures so i decided to try and sculpt a head.
This is my first sculpt from scratch in this scale. She has a messed up cordelia head mould as a base, mostly for ears, but her face is completely sculpted by me. I still need to finish one side, including the jaw. Im pleased so far, what do you all think?

I think it looks AMAZING. Seriously, perfect likeness so far... First I thought, wow, that's a huge mouth he sculpted, but then I thought: hey, Gina Torres has like the largest lips ever...:lol Serious, that's definitely going to be an incredible figure. I wish I had your skills.

Wow great likeness so far...
do you plan on selling some? I'm currently thinking about beginning my kitbash career making bashes of Mal, Zoe, River and Jayne from Firefly... well it's a project I have anyway.
I'm part of those waiting for SS to make them, we would have nice costumes and weapons.
real great job! go ahead and make us dream.
thank you for sharing this beauty :D

Very impressive! Are you using Super Sculpey? I can't quite make out the pic, is the white area exposed cast underneath?
What Cordelia head did you make the blank from?

yes, the white area is a cast, one that went wrong so the face isnt formed properly, well not all of it anyway. however, i wanted a base so that i wouldnt use so much sculpey. i made a cast from the Cordelia Bust from Moore. it was perfect scale for sideshow figures and i made 3 cordelias using these moulds lol

That is really, really good. It was funny, I was at first thinking the lips looked ridiculous, almost cartoony... but in the comparison shots its totally her! Amazing work!!!
Now get cracking on the rest of the crew and start casting these!!!

thanks for the comments guys. ive done the basic form on the other side of her face now. i still have to go through and even everything up to make it match, like the cheeks etc.

I think the left eye should be set closer to the center. Also be careful about the outer lower edges of both eyes. They seem very heavy compared to the reference. But the nose and mouth look fine!

oh ok, i think its only a little off. but i actually think it could be the bridge of the nose that is throwing it off, like the shadow. if that makes sense. i think one side of the nose is built up more, or has more depth etc

That's some astute work!
Very close there!
If I had any criticism (from one sculptor/painter to another), it would be the little V dent in the center upper lip is a bit too pronounced on your sculpt from her slightly smaller one. It's a tad too broad I guess, narrow it in just a bit, and if you note, the lines of her top lips, at rest, are just a tad straighter than you have it, and that's all I see different.
Otherwise, WOW! VERY, VERY close work! I am amazed!
Can't wait to see this painted! She'll be a beaut!

I just saw this. Compared to that one reworked shot where it is both sides flipped, there is in the original work, almost NO CHANGE in the structure of both sides of the lower face! You have nailed the symmetry! Great job! That is hard to do!
