In October, Fox will be re-releasing the Planet of the Apes TV series on DVD. What an awesome thing it would be if Sideshow released a Alan virdon, Peter Burke, Galen, and Urko from the TV seires. How about it Sideshow?

Alas, :monkey2 I asked Sideshow Andy the other night in chat, on a scale of 1 - 10, what were the chances of Sideshow giving us a return visit to the Ape line. The answer, unfortunately, was between 0-1 on that same scale. I guess its time to see if we can't get someone else to take a stab at the franchise.
In the wake of the great Lucas tsunami that is 1:6 Star Wars, and seeing it belay even the mighty LOTR, I guess its not all that surprising. I guess Bond fans should count themselves lucky to get JB rehashed again in 4 new outfits.
Until, and thats a long way off, the Star Wars ride ends, I don't hold any significant hope for any "lesser" license. My God, it took how long to get Giles? I'm no longer holding my breath for Firefly, given up on Exeter or Meacham from This Island Earth and I guess its finally time to look elsewhere for Apes. A shame that a bad sculpt and very little push in advertising were really writing the epitaph at the same time.
Of course, we must still keep the Ape thread [over a year and still going!!] alive. Perhaps with all the DVD releases, more fans will join the cause and Sideshow will rethink the error of their ways.

I hope Sideshow floods the Star Wars fans with back to back releases like they did us Ape fans and depleate their wallets also. Well, that leaves me more money to have DD build the awesome dioramas that he makes for me. I spoke with one rep at Sideshow, I forget who, but they said that Matt Falls has been pushing for more Apes also. So, at least we have a fan on the inside at our side.

I hope this line isn't really dead. Come on SideShow, please listen to us Ape fans. We need more apes!

I don't understand why they can't offer 1 or 2 new exclusive figures to this line each year like they did Skinner and Krycek to the X-Files line. Granted this is a niche license but the collectors are definitely there and willing to pony up and buy more product if they offered them in low production numbers like Beneath Taylor and Slave Brent around 400 pieces. Heck, even a 250 run on ANY new Apes would almost immediately sell out. If they offered Virdon and Burke as a Sideshow exclusive two-pack like Slave Taylor and Nova limited to 250 pieces those things will sell. More importantly, we need more Apes. We've had far too many human figures in this line already. Where's Aldo, Virgil, Lisa, Caesar with Armando's leash, Julius, Galen and some Ape Guards? Like I said, offer 1-2 new pieces each year to keep the license going and give collector's something to look forward to and save up for. Even if they created a Sideshow Collector's Club that offered them exclusively to members it would be incentive enough to pay an annual fee to get the figures die-hard fans want to see made.
