I just picked up an extra body, jacket and pants...so that I can use both heads when I get the DX13, I will put the less damaged head on the body I just ordered along with the pants and then I will have two DX13...I started to buy another DX10, but I came across the body for 70, jacket 24 and pants 12 so I say hey why not I come out a lot cheaper than buying another DX10 I can't afford....anyways hopefully after the DX13 I am out.......:clap:clap:clap

But don't you need boots and a belt and a t-shirt...?

True - Avengers is the big time right now, so I agree there. However, are you implying that because the film is huge, Culoson is automatically a potential best seller? I'd say Arnold would trump him in sales, any day of the week. :lol

Maybe thats why Toys2 has Coulson on the front page over the DX13, to try to push a harder sell figure. But then theres loads of other figures that are on the front page that could have made way.

Would it make you guys feel better if he came with some bloodied Terminator trading cards too?

:rotfl

For a franchise that's on a hiatus, the Terminator stuff has been coming in like gangbusters. This damaged T800 is no doubt going to be a best seller, so I think young John Connor could easily see the light of day. Just hang in there. I know this latest release has enough win for two or three non-Hulk Avengers figures.. :)

Reese might be a bit of a longshot though.

Terminator might be out of the pop culture flavor-of-the-month club but you're right. It's criminal not to recognize the best 1/6 movie collectible they've produced yet.

Been awhile since Hot Toys have wowed...but they've gone and done it here. A decent arnie sculpt at one-sixth which makes the previous attempt look like a saturday-morning cartoon.

Depressingly, it shows just how badly PERS can ruin a sculpt. Their cyberdyne Arnie is bordering on unforgivable...

I don't think the PERS eyes negatively effect the DX 10 sculpt at all. It's noticeable in pics when the head is blown up 6x the normal size, but in hand it just looks like normal eyes. :dunno I was actually kinda surprised by that being my first PERS figure, I expected it to be more noticeable.

Bucky Underbelly
12-07-2012, 12:56 PM
Why would we have to choose between those two? Why couldn't we have both?

It's not like HT would be shy about bumping up the price to cover an extra body. I'd be willing to pay more up front for the extra pieces. (I'm sure I'll be paying WAY more than what HT would charge to find all the extra pieces on the secondary market.)

It is in 1:4 scale for the police shootout verison and likely in 1:6 not to far off. If they make the police shootout one in 1:4 then they should make the tanker truck version you meantioned in 1:6 as to not have the same release in both scales.

Question, to properly display the T-800 BD, did his face get messed up before or after his arm was crushed? I don't remember Thanks!

The final stage of facial BD did not occur till after his arm was crushed and his hand lost.

His face is still only semi-BD when he attacks the T-1000 from behind with the metal rod, cutting him in half. As he is missing much of one arm he is then less effective in defending himself as the T-1000 takes the steel rod and starts beating him with it, eventually ramming the huge steel beam into his head causing the rest of the facial damage.

I would imagine more people would rather have two full BD T-800s than the liquid T-1000, especially after the initial neatness of it wears off, I know I would.

I guess. Though since I'd be intending to make more than 2 BD T-800s anyway I prefer it this way. I'll end up with a few spare liquid Metal T-1000s but I don't care too much.

Theres a bunch of scenes I want to be able to recreate simultaneously and I will buy however many figures I need to do that. I'd like at least 4 of this figure but probably 5 or 6 in the end. I'll probably end up with a lot of spare stuff.

There are four steps that I can figure, first, bits of his face are shoot off and a large hole is shot into his chest escaping from Cyberdine.

Second his knee is screwed up falling from the trailer as it crashes in the steel mill.

Third, his arm is caught in the giant gear which he rips off to free himself.

Lastly his face is half torn off by the beam the T-1000 slam into him, and more damage may or may not be done to the meat of his chest before the T-1000 impales him with the pry bar.

I don’t think he receives any additional damage until he is lowered into the steel and destroyed.

I’d also would like a second of this figure, but funds want allow it.

So is the DX13 actually going to have a damaged body, chest and leg? It looks like to leg is a definite, but could the chest be a piece made onto the inside of the gray t-shirt?

Dollmanron
12-11-2012, 09:11 PM
I also noticed that the gloved left hand has blood and flesh showing through the holes, didn't he pull all the flesh off the forearm and hand off his left arm prior to getting any holes in that glove? I didn't think it would be anything but Endo finger showing from the holes.

I expect all the damage will be part of the body. The idea of a piece attaching to the inside of the T-shirt sounds like it would be seriously iffy and make the figure overly bulky...plus I think we've seen on.cc closeup pics that essentially prove its all on the body itself as its best that it is.

Yeah you're right there shouldn't be blood and flesh left on that hand. Bit of an oversight by HT there.

actually I have an extra pair of boots anyways, and the pants came with the belt, as far as the T-shirt go that is my only complaint of the Dx 10, it is too loose, I put a Dam black T-shirt on mines and wow did it make a difference on the appearance of the figures, (i know it isn't movie accurate) but I will use another one of my black Dam T-shirts for the figure I will make using the extra's of the DX13.....

People say there shouldn't be meat on his left hand, but to me I'd only have assumed that they put the flesh back on the endo anyway, they wanted to pass him off as human and with the flesh put back it should have healed.

Yeah, I always thought he put the skin back on too.. but they went to Cyberdyne straight after going to Dyson's place.

Everything unfolded pretty much immediately after that, then he self terminated - no time to heal. :huh :lol

Dollmanron

The flesh was not put back on, if you watch the scene were his left arm is caught in the giant gear in the Steel Mill you can see as it is crushed and moves further under the gear it's all Endo; no flesh. You can also notice it when the T-800 uses the pry bar to break his trapped arm off.

I have this figure on pre-order, but a have one complaint and one major complaint about it, first complain. The t-800 never ripped or had a hole in the elbow of his right jacket during the entire movie; not even after the Steel Mill crash, fight or final fight. It's just going to cause me to buy another DX10 jacket to make it look more movie accurate.

Second, my major complain, Why weren't we just given two bodies like with the DX Luke Skywalker, or even an opportunity to buy an extra body like with the DX Bruce Lee. Now I know they're selling extra TT bodies now, but it's of the DX10 style (I have one ordered too), it doesn't have the BD chest and if you build a second DX13 you're going to have to have the damage on the chest for everything to look right.

And another sad thing, that DX10 style TT body they're selling, I don't even thing anything but the DX10 or the DX13's heads will fit on it right because of the stumpy neck.

The neck and way it (doesn't) work with the head is definitely the worst thing about DX10. Any viewing angle other than straight front-on presents problems. I've had trouble with it while doing my new Pescadero pics. For me its one area that DX10 disimproved from the MMS figure..which itself didn't exactly have an ideal neck and head connection. Its a little frustrating the way they aspire to ultra-realism in so many areas and then....for some reason they let something noticeably silly-looking get through.

On the plus side though I have got what I think are excellent pics, its just going to take a while to sort through them for the ones I will ultimately use and post in the DX10 thread.

At some point this week I'll have them up - I'd say today but theres hundreds of pics I now have to choose from, put in correct order etc etc. And photobuckets a bastard, freezing my computer every damn time - that will no doubt frustrate my efforts. Also I didn't sleep last night, I'll be lucky to get through work today. :thud:

Ever give Minus a try? It's simple and sweet for me. Uploads pics and gifs very smoothly...

Well after seeing the reveil of the enterbay bd t-800 this version seems to be the better bang for the buck, they cheaped out at enterbay by making you have to own the first version in order to display all the looks which is kinda lame. The figure looks great don't get me wrong but to give it the cyberdine gear without a way to display it unless you have the orginal isn't gunna bring in new buyers. also its the bd version yet it comes with a fully intact grenade lanucher:dunno dx13 is a better overall version imo.

EB flattens this version, but like you said if you don't have the first release the minigun is useless.

I'm playing with the idea to getting another DX10 to have Arnie from all 3 acts of the film.

Both are amazing, EB has got this beat. But with the DX13 you get a lot more for nearly 200$ less. I'm not trying to put this over the EB but this is just more comfortable and financially you just can't afford 1/4 and I fall into that category.

The only 1/4 I'm getting is the HT Endoskeleton and nothing more.

HT - $304.99
EB - $375

You can decide which one you personally think is the better figure. I'm not here to argue that. But I will say, I don't think you get more "bang for your buck" with the HT figure. Even though it might have more accessories & whatever. If anything, this kinda feels overpriced, in comparison.

Size differences aside the EB figure is better. Not everybody changes up poses and you can flick the extra's for at least $100.

Both great figures but if I could only choose one it'd be EB.

Never said it was.

It isn't for me, but it seems to be a factor in other collectors' minds. Seems like most people keep their collectibles for less than a year before they're on ebay or somewhere in the marketplace. The shelf life doesn't seem to be that long.

Enterbay's value is pretty terrible, atleast the original 1/4 Terminator. People are better off waiting a few months.

I agree with your points. One thing I would say though, is that if $350ish for a high end, 1/4 scale figure is overpriced, then I think everything HT and SSC put out nowadays are also overpriced.

Also, the long term value of the 1/4 scale figure is an open question. There aren't that many collectors relatively speaking that are buying these things. So, less demand = lower value. But this could change. I don't think it will, but you never know. I think the Batman they did has the most potential value because of the popularity of the character and franchise.

Oh yeah, no argument there.

That's why I put "way overpriced" for the Hot Toys BD. These things are getting ridiculously expensive and we (myself included, somewhat) just keep eating them up. It's getting pretty damn bad.

There's something terribly wrong when the Enterbay version is only $50-70 more than the Hot Toys version.

Most of these collectibles could and should be easily $100 less than what they are.

It makes for a great centerpiece for a collection but I don't want a bunch of them, just two or three tops. Right now its just the 1/4 t-800 and the hot toys 1/4 endo I want, not of the mind to get the enterbay bd as it stands right now.

The thing I notice is the normal undamaged eye pers looks better than the dx10, the eye is smaller and there no gap at the corner as well as the eye lids are not as thick, if this was done on the dx10 that figure would be perfection, its great as is but it would have been that much better.

Watch T2 again then say that crap, if you do then book the appointment with a eye doctor.

As much as i love the Enterbay sculpt i am passing on that figure and sticking with the DX13 since 1/6 is my primary focus and not a pain to display plus Enterbay quality is kinda rough where Hot Toys is a much more polished product in all areas.

DX13 has everything i wanted in a BD T-800 figure from T2 where the Enterbay is lacking in accessories that cater to a figure i don't own or care to own.

As wonderful a set as DX13 is, I would argue that it's not the definitive figure, HT took artistic liberties with the damage and while every company has to unless they exactly duplicate Arnie's makeup, you can just barely take liberty or you can take a lot. NECA and Enterbay took as little artistic liberty as possible, where the Sideshow 1:1 bust and HT figure took a bit too much, adding muscle mass you never saw in the film and giving the damage areas a bit of a ground up meat look. Considering HT is the only company to take this on at 1/6 like this, they've done a great job and anyone looking for this look in 1/6 should be happy enough, but I wouldn't label it definitive.

The problem is 1/6 scale, they tried to give him details to show his T2 age with MMS117 and the result made him look too old. While Arnie was older in T2, the lines and things that gave him his age in the movie are subtle at full size. From what I gather, DX10 features these lines as obvious as you can make them before you start crossing into the too old territory. I just don't think you'll ever get a perfect looking 1/6 T2 Arnold portrait with what details you need. You have to get around 1/4 scale or larger to start depicting him properly for the era.

You might be onto something there. Does anyone complain that Enterbay's T-800 looks too young? No. Of all the complaints I've seen and made myself the apparent age of the figure has never came up. And comparing it to the DX10 it has no extra wrinkles that the DX10 doesn't have.

Im wondering if its not the PERS that is given that more "younger look" appearance from pics. Which is lost when you view it with the naked eye. I think the eyes could have a little more squint to them and it wouldnt give that "innocent doe eyed look" which in turn makes him look younger...? I dunno :lol

It could be that but mainly I think its the smoother and shinier look that recent sculpts have - that thing your nemesis Rorywan was going on about. :lol Until I got DX10 I didn't know what he was talking about but he was right. There is less physical skin texturing on new HT figures than there was when they put out MMS117. Nowadays, other than the most noticeable lines and veins on a persons face they aren't sculpting in any other detail, only painting it on as freckle-type stuff for want of a better way of saying it.

I hated a lot of my shots of MMS117 because of how old he looked with the wrinkles showing. Not like super old, but probably a good 10 years older than T2.

The lines around his mouth and above his nose from the brown line especially.

Like I said, I think you need to get into a larger scale where you can work in subtle details like the lines around his mouth to look like he did in the move and not like when he got older, they were there but you didn't see them all the time, MMS117 showed them pretty much all the time.

Well that's exactly why some of the criticism of these pieces seems like whining and such, it's one thing when it's a fairly noticable detail that even sitting on your desk a foot or more away from you will make a piece look off, but when it's something so small that only a blown up photo can show it off, then unless you're out to make photo art with a piece, what does it matter. The small stuff matters to me because I do my photography and I want the best images I can get, but if it weren't for that, there's a lot of small things I could care less about because you won't see them from far away.

Of everything "off" with MMS117, the body proportion was the only thing you could spot from afar, in fact I found it more noticable the further away you got, up close he looked better. DX10 fixed that issue, now DX13 rolls with that improvement.

No matter what age the portrait on the figure looks like, on a shelf, I have no doubts DX10 looks like a littler Arnie because his features are done right, even if the details are soft.

With so many photographers on the forums now, people are getting so used to seeing blown up images of these figures that they often forget the real thing is half the size of the photo or even less.

Thats another thing though, if the paint apps aren't up to par when this comes out , (soft paint apps) I'll send this b**** right back. :lol Theres no way in hell the paint should be getting worse with increasing prices.

Me neither, I havent bought any of their figures in awhile. Keaton Batman and Nicholson Joker were my last HT, though I have the DX12 on order, so I guess Im going to find out.

Im wondering if its not the PERS that is given that more "younger look" appearance from pics. Which is lost when you view it with the naked eye. I think the eyes could have a little more squint to them and it wouldnt give that "innocent doe eyed look" which in turn makes him look younger...? I dunno :lol

This all day! I owned both, sold DX 10 after comparing the two and I was still partial to the mms117. Like Indy and the DX Bats, I think the PERS takes away from the genius of the sculpt.

Hopefully, this fig doesn't suffer from the same issue because I don't plan on selling it.

Is the DX13 the same sculpt as the DX10, just with added damage?

Yep. It looks nicer in the DX13 shots though since it is the prototype.

Ive heard a few people say that it's the same, but it looks much better than the DX10 imo. I know it is just a prototype, but the sculpts look much different. The DX13 is much more squnity eyed. But this may just be because its a prototype vs final product.

It certainly has more in common with the DX10 sculpt than the MMS117. And I consider that a good thing.

Yeah for sure, The DX10 is a huge improvement over the mms117. I just think the DX13 looks slightly different.

Arnie was quite squinty and intent throughout the steel mill, I would imagine they made these 2 sculpts to reflect that. It's likely Yulli did all 3 at once so they will look alike enough you might think they just altered the DX10 sculpt. I do think both DX13 heads may be from the same base Arnie sculpt an damaged accordingly to keep them consistent.

:exactly: definitely, that just makes the most sense for these updated Arnie sculpts. I am very excited about this release, but do hope they change up the BD to resemble the EB version, which is closer to the movie.

I would argue that his brow is still a little too high and less frowney than it should be. He is very calm looking.
I love that figure but i think that is helping him in a bad way to look smoother.

I haven't PO'd anything in a while just because I haven't seen much of a reason to and I never go through SS unless it's an Ex. I want which is a rare case. But I went ahaead and PO'd this last night from SS. :lol I'm so excited for this thing that I guess I have an irrational fear it will sell out I guess. And I didn't go through SS for the Ex. either, while I think it's cool I know I'll never use it. No, I went through SS because I want to be among the first to get this bad boy. :rock

I never P.O. anything from Sideshow Toys because CA residents have to pay sales tax on top of shipping. :gah: The price is never worth the extra $30-$40 compared to other retailers, but this one is a must have. Plus, I will have the exclusive T-1000 hs version, which is a huge bonus on this set. I also picked up an extra body, shirt, pants/belt, & boots to display both versions. I just have to weather the items and add BD to match the movie sometime in the next 7 months. :yess:

I can't justify $300+ for this when I know if I wait just a few weeks/short months, I can get one for much less. I waited and got the DX 10 for less than $200.

BUT

Hnnnngggg, I need DAT chromed T-1000 Robert Patrick head and the only way to do it is to get it with Sideshow. I thought about relying on rewards points, but I don't get any with the '89 Batmobile because I used something for it, and I can't use it for DX 11 Joker because I used points to knock that down to $200. I wish they didn't make that head exclusive. I wish there wasn't an exclusive.

I really had to mull over this or the Enterbay battle damaged t-800.
The sculpt of Enterbays is way better. But I would expect that for the 1/4 scale.

The damaged endo arm on Enterbays is all over the place though.

So pound for pound this is way better value in my opinion. That liquid form t-1000 is a must. Exclusive from sideshow per ordered.

I don't own any of terminator figures. Ok thanks for the advise. Both figures look cool. Does anyone if HT plans to re-make any of the older figures? And the weapons from the none Bd T800 fit the BD T800. Sorry for lame question. But I'm new to collecting these 1/6 figures.

HT have got a bit of a track record with re-making older figures, so yes a strong possibility. You might want to pick up the T-1000 HT figure though, that is a classic imo. Yes the weapons from the non Bd version will fit the Bd version, Its all in 1/6 scale. :lecture

I went to Toy Hunters yesterday to pick up my Avengers Captain America. Their displays are back at the store from that ACG Guangzhou Toyfair.

Got to see some pieces in person like Agent Coulson (looks awesome), Scar Pred, Ada Wong, Snake Eyes, and the DX13. I was on the fence about this one because i really like the pose in a-dev's sig and the T-1000 stand (which looks phenomenal in person).

The figure looks ok, but i've had the EB BD for about 2 weeks, and looking at this HS in person is just too far in comparison. I know its not fair to compare by scale, but better is better. The displayed one really looked like a modified DX10, and this is the prototype we are talking about, which usually has better paint apps and slightly more details on the sculpt. Can't say it is an easy pass, but none the less a pass for me.
