I'd like to sell mine!

There is 1 issue: 1/2 of the peg broke off on the left arm (interchangeable one) the normal peg had these 2 plastic protrusions that help it enter the hole in the battle damaged robot/normal arm. It still holds but you'd need to be careful and I can provide pictures

Sale price: $305 shipped. Will provide pictures. Everything else is in perfect condition with nice tight joints. It's really the greatest figure in my collection but selling him off for financial reasons. but......."I'll be back" in the collecting game soon :)

Right on man. So jealous of that DX13; that's pretty much grail status to me. I'm holding out hope for a v2 T2 Arnie in the future. But who knows.

Don't even remember what the retail was. Sells for around $370 on ebay... which doesn't seem like that much? Maybe I'm too used to today's crazed pricing though.

The sculpt is still their best... pretty crazy how much of a step back their newest arnie is.

It would've been vastly improved had Enterbay been making a Commando figure as well LOL.

Tru tru.

HT essentially just... borrowed... elements from the EB counterparts.

Def not complaining though.

Still blown away how good this figure is. HT really did a good job. To get this figure for less than $400 sounds like a good deal.

There are no sunglasses in the DX13 set. I think DX10 ones can fit on it, though the heads are bigger than the DX10's.

Well they fit, not perfectly but they will go on this head, the part over the ears is the problem area. The hair wasn't sculpted to accommodate sunglasses. I don't use sunglasses with the DX13, I go for accuracy all the way.

Thanks. Hope I didn't over-do it, it's actually more noticeable in person than it comes across in the pics. A few more of them to do now, although they'll all be to a lesser degree I think. Scenes from the Galleria up to Cyberdyne, prior to the most severe damage and rolling about that he does.

Thanks guys. I'm pleased with it, it elevates the figures a bit. I'll start tackling my T1 figures one day aswell, there's other kits that might be more suitable for that. I'm slightly concerned that it's coming off as I handle the figure so I'm being quite specific about where I hold them.

Anyway I was going for this sort of thing:

http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/tt28/a-dev/DX%2013%20T-800/vlcsnap-2015-08-11-17h59m04s90_zpsobpdfdby.png (http://s594.photobucket.com/user/a-dev/media/DX%2013%20T-800/vlcsnap-2015-08-11-17h59m04s90_zpsobpdfdby.png.html)

Oh and incidentally while I was taking reference shots I noticed this:

http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/tt28/a-dev/DX%2013%20T-800/vlcsnap-2015-08-11-18h34m11s144_zpszpzsxjqr.png (http://s594.photobucket.com/user/a-dev/media/DX%2013%20T-800/vlcsnap-2015-08-11-18h34m11s144_zpszpzsxjqr.png.html)

In the past I've accused Hot Toys of being inaccurate with their sculpting of the chest battle-damage but I guess I'd never paused it at this particular shot because that looks pretty close to what Hot Toys sculpted with that fleshy tendril running vertically on his right side. I thought they just made that up, I may have been wrong.

I really am surprised HT hasn't revisited this figure. It seems like one that should be a likely candidate for a V.2. Perhaps with a major anniversary for the film?

Popular character. Popular franchise. Clear demand for the figure even now. And they always can improve a sculpt, very few sculpts are a one and done perfect shot (save for a few, like the Mandarin).

There's still nothing really new to do. It would just be a blatant 2.0 really, I don't think that the demand for it is enough for a whole new batch of figures.

The only T2 look that they could redo is the T-800 earlier in the film or Uncle Bob.

Been doing some weathering on the clothes (some of which are MMS117 jackets, pants and boots)

I've only been collecting for a few years and I can think of a hundred figures more deserving a 2.0 than this one. You have almost anything you can think of in the package and the sculpt is one of the best ever.

Thanks guys. Yeah I think the clean Uncle Bob is a more likely candidate for HT to revisit - this despite the fact they've done him twice already. DX13 is a little too recent and most people are totally happy with it.
Tech Noir T-800 also seems like a candidate for two reasons - they've only made him once and the headsculpt is small by today's standard. I mean if they made Kyle Reese now his head would be bigger than the existing Tech Noir T-800's. A complicating factor though is that, for many, those Tech Noir sculpts on MMS136 are better than more recent ones. So there's always a chance that a new figure would be a regression rather than a progression.

Love the thumbs up on uncle Bob, a-dev.

Yeah, I also don't think HT needs to do another version of Steel Mill Arnie. Another Galleria/Pescadero/Cyberdyne Arnie, hopefully with an improved headsculpt, would be aces, however.

Yeah, as good as the Tech Noir is it's definitely something that I would buy a 2.0 of, especially if it came with the T1 missing link head, you know the one I mean ;)

But yeah, for me there's nothing quite like opening a new Hot Toys T1 or T2 figure....even if I ultimately end up criticising it after a few weeks, months or years. That first day is always magical. It's probably how you got the head positioned on the neck ball. You probably want to dip the head forward slightly at that join, and it should clay flush with the head. DX10 has that issue, since it's got that Silverback Gorilla neck.

In the past I've accused Hot Toys of being inaccurate with their sculpting of the chest battle-damage but I guess I'd never paused it at this particular shot because that looks pretty close to what Hot Toys sculpted with that fleshy tendril running vertically on his right side. I thought they just made that up, I may have been wrong.https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/dc/29/18/dc2918629ce19bb460ba21ea8d70ef49.jpg

Looks like something they might have done tests on, smashing steel beams into it to see what the damage might look like or something.

Oh, and here's something I'd never noticed before. After their stay at the garage, not only did they plaster the T-800's wounds but they also taped up the holes in his jacket:

http://i594.photobucket.com/albums/tt28/a-dev/T2%20scenes/vlcsnap-2015-08-20-00h32m26s38%20Small_zpstrly0lwf.png (http://s594.photobucket.com/user/a-dev/media/T2%20scenes/vlcsnap-2015-08-20-00h32m26s38%20Small_zpstrly0lwf.png.html)

I was wondering why the bullet holes from after the Galleria/Pescadero scenes were so hard to see later on. This explains it. Now I don't have to bother putting bullet holes in a few of my figures' jackets. Tiny bits of tape on the other hand...hmmm, will I go that far....

funny things start when "mistakes articles" have mistakes within themselves. like 100% of them say that T-1000 has 3 arms in the helicopter (though he had 4) and 90% of them say that it's a mistake (though it's a feature).

Hi everyone,

I have a question about the LED head. Will keeping these kinds of batteries in the head cause battery leaks? Also, what is the safest amount of time I should keep the LED light on? For some reason the eye on the one I have will dim and go bright randomly. Not sure if the batteries are running out of juice or just a factory error...

Please let me know. Thanks.

The batteries died in my T1 semi bd head so I finally picked up a small enough screwdriver and removed the batteries from all the heads. I left the screws out too for easy access to the battery compartments. The batteries hold in the heads just fine without the screws and it saves me from the risk of stripping them which has happened once or twice already.

I think it was Vodoun who recommended that weathering set a long time ago, maybe even a year or two. I just prioritised other stuff constantly. Finally I went for it, no regrets.

It does come off, perhaps even when you don't want it to, just holding the figure can make some areas get fainter. I was actually wondering if there is a way to seal it on.

I've been thinking also of getting a proper DX13 body for my impaled T-800 like you've got there. My version of that is using the body from my old CREG Customs.....custom. The neck is ill-suited to the DX13 headsculpt and overall it just doesn't 'feel' like a complete figure. So one day if I see one for a decent price I'll get a DX13 body for it and drill through it like you did. Come to think of it, I still haven't weathered the clothes on that one.

So one day if I see one for a decent price I'll get a DX13 body for it and drill through it like you did. it is very possible to do that without damaging any joints, as you know from taking his chest skin off :)
and there is a cool game factor when you know that you can move the rod inside or take it out completely.
just be sure to take off his clothes first, as the t-shirt can swirl around the drill!

Y'know, I remember doing that and yet I can't remember why I did it or which of my figures I did it to. I wish I'd kept some sort of written record of all the investigations/mods/swaps/kitbashes I've done because in many cases I completely forget. Terminator 2: Judgment Day FAQ (http://www.jamescamerononline.com/T2FAQ.htm)
Reese couldn't know what happened after he left his time, and also couldn't be told.that's the part where they drop the ball - and it's the very beginning.
"reese could not know blah blah" but Hurd and Cameron and that guy Fisher or whatever - script authors - did know and finished the story with T1.

justifying eating the hamburger for a second time just by its nice taste for the first time is so T2ish and so common for fans who explain every previous movie with events of latest movie, completely forgetting principles of explanations :D

a-dev
08-26-2015, 07:42 AM
I think we all know T2 was a bit of a retcon - the thing is it's a plausible retcon. It is very conceivable that ''Reese could not know''. And the only reason I would then disregard T2 is if T2 had been an overall crap film, which it wasn't. Therefore I accept the retcon. Also, if it's going to be done, who better to do it than the original creator and writers.

The other stuff was pretty cool about the autonomy of the T-1000 and it developing a sinister personality. Although for all its autonomy it does at least try to fulfil its mission, Skynet need not have worried.

Maybe it wanted to finish the mission because it developed such a sinister personality that it started to like hunting John and would enjoy killing him?

In other words it started off as a job but became pleasure.

imagine this - you have 100500 receptors for feeling everything around you, you have unlimited life time, a brain worth of nothing existing yet - and suddenly you have pleasure not in investigating the universe, but in driving around and trying to kill some flesh creature?

Therefore I accept the retcon. Also, if it's going to be done, who better to do it than the original creator and writers.there' no difference who kills something as long as it is killed.

yep, the only major problem with T2 is making it a movie with faaaaamily values and decreasing scenes to teenager level, but all in all it's a solid product, and i know it now after reading "all that is wrong with t3" and finishing "all that is wrong with t4" :)
those two always were cheap, but that guy's detailed analysis sends them back to the manure pit they crawled out from.

I think it's tied with MMS136 (once you put the pants and boots from MMS238 on it). Since the DX13 heads aren't perfect either for their own reasons I've come to rate those old squashed 136 heads pretty much the same. And as far as the overall packages MMS 136 could hold its own with 2 headsculpts and the arm surgery stuff.

The relative lack of endoskeleton, yeah, that's true enough. A casual fan will want endoskeleton on their Terminator figure. Having said that I did replace the jackets and in some cases the pants on my DX13s, I personally wasn't happy with the tailoring on the jackets - they overcompensated for the MMS117 problem where the front would be too wide open and this resulted in the front being too closed on the DX13 jackets, therefore obscuring the chest battle-damage more than one would like. So I went with MMS117 jackets for most of mine, that was expensive though. Thus for me both figures require clothes changes.

Having said that I don't think most people care that much about something like that and you're right that the presence of endoskeleton parts will be more important - therefore DX13 wins, out of the box.

Haha that sounded so wrong but it's true!

there's also a female figure there, her face fell right to crotch of that "arnold in the middle", so the whole thing is even weirder.

Is there a way to get an endo-arm for this figure? Maybe some custom.. I know it will not be screen accurate, but I'd like it so much!

no, that was a project of a female figure in T-1000 uniform on molten pseudo-Sarah boots with a head from that girl from Blade. it looks cool in T-1000 mirror glasses. i don't know if i ever finish it.

That's a good point. I know that ebay is full of every single hot toys little part, but this arms are impossible to find. Of course, if you bought them all then you could sell me one ;)

Of course, if you bought them all then you could sell me one ;)nope, i bought them for a reason - some of them were used as full items and as parts for many projects, and others... well, were destroyed while i figure out how to used them. or were just for too red and caused my anger :)
also don't bother searching for MMS238 pants and boots for a decent price for the same reason

but seriously, if somebody doesn't part with his own item here, it's better to forget the idea until HT makes something skeletonish again in 1/6.

Actually these other parts can be found!

Anyway, if I find one, can I put it on a DX13? Arm pegs look different, but maybe I can cut the new arm and paste it on a dx13 arm peg..

Me? Oh, no, never. ;)

Truth be told, he does have a bit of a 'fro. It's by no means a dealbreaker (it's not nearly as bad as the MMS238's bulbous head) but I wonder why HT couldn't have sculpted the hair the same way EB sculpted the 1/4's.

I know I'm VERY late for the party, but I just picked up this figure and it's amazing and I can't get enough of it.

I'm completely new to Hot Toys and other high-end figures and I didn't mean to get into collecting these expensive toys at all.

Actually, I stumbled upon a promo photo of the T1 BD T-800 MMS238 by accident (I was doing a Google search for vintage Gargoyles shades) and as a huge Terminator fan I had to have it immediately.

After a couple of Google searches I found my way here and noticed this DX13 thread and the pics blew me away. I realized that my T1 looked kinda lonely in a detolf without his counterpart for the second movie. Needless to say, but ofcourse I bought him and hunted down another body to get the both looks displayed.

At this point I'm thinking that's it for me, but I constantly find myself considering getting 1/6 endo and the MMS129 T-1000.

This kinda worries me... :D

Nobody show this guy the Enterbay 1/4 figures...

Well, it'd be a minimal commitment. 1:4 Terminator is dead. The only existing ones I'd recommend would be the BD T-800 and the T-1000. There's also the clean T-800 and the Hot Toys Endoskeleton neither of which I personally favour quite as much but if he decided to get them that makes 4 figures tops.

Yeah, those are outstanding pieces (especially the BD T-800), but I'm not so into 1/4 scale at the moment as I have very limited space at my current house.

The price is also an issue as I happen to live in Finland so the shipping charges are hefty an we have annoyingly efficient customs collecting 24% import taxes for nearly everything sent from outside EU. :(

It's a slippery, slippery slope... :D Congrats :duff

Thanks! :) I keep telling myself that if I manage to restrict my collection just to Terminators it wont be so bad. :monkey3

Bastard customs. They rule me out of ordering Hot Toys from Sideshow or BBTS. I get away with it on most Hong Kong ebay orders though. Most of those sellers declare low value by default and Irish customs just tend to take it at face value.

It's all about the sculpt really. The figure overall isn't a great package, limited display options - well, at least limited if you want to be movie-accurate. You can't trust the Enterbay body, it doesn't feel as sturdy as it should for the scale and price - the clean version was known to break at the shoulders. Also the battle-damaged arm and knee weren't executed very well. It's the sculpt that makes up for everything. Easily the best there has ever been.

I decided to use my Triarama by Triad Toys with my DX13. I originally had this with an older figure by Triad Toys that I have now decided to sell. I was on the fence about selling this Triarama, but after moving it to my T-800 display I don't see how I could possibly sell it. This looks pretty awesome with the figure. Now I need to re-purpose my graveyard Triarama after seeing how awesome these can look with the right figure.

Cool collection and pic! I would, however, be paranoid of falling figures, especially when so many are so close to the edge. :lol

^ I second that. I have to have my figures supported with stands. I'm too paranoid of them falling over or getting damaged.

Yeah I know, but so far I never had any figure fall with stand. I just want to display some of my figures. Even though now I have to rotate them because of the lack of display space. Once I have my new cases there'll be more space between them. It's just a shame to keep some boxed up too long:wink1:

This figure is amazing. It's still my favorite collectible that I own, and undoubtedly one of Hot Toys best. There's just so many accessories and display options.

I second that Snoop101, I don't think HT will ever release another figure that will hold up to this one's standard as you said in terms of just awesome sculpt, display options and truck load of accessories.

I just accidentally picked this up off eBay. It's missing the LED head sculpt and, I feel like an idiot that I didn't realize this. Is $225 shipped still a good price for this?

Considering the set is selling for $300+ and the LED head can be picked up off of eBay for about $60, that's an excellent price.

Unpacked mine yesterday, as I moved in together with my GF.
Printed a nice background for my T1 and 2 line, looks absolutely beautiful, but had a LITTLE problem:
Did anyone break the little piece thatīs supposed to keep the batteries apart?
I think Iīll need a pair of tweezers now, when I wanna try to turn the lights on.
:lol
Anyway...still need a second body, plus shirt, pants and so on for the fight scene.
Good olī liquido metalloīs all lonely in his supposed shelf...

what do you mean "break"? i always just throw it into the trash can o_O
p.s. it's a pity no one sells just his legs. left leg particularly. i need it, but i don't need the upper body :(

I keepīem, so the batteries remain as fresh as possible.
You risk leakage in your figures, P. Seriously.

Thanks. That makes me feel better about it. That money was being saved for something else and I put in an offer not thinking it would be accepted at all and then boom.

I'd definitely rather have this than some other pieces I own so I think it's time to thin the herd!

Hi, not sure if this has been discussed before, but just want to share this in case people ever come across this confusion like I did. I recently got this figure second handed and the light up head did not come with batteries. In the manual it says it takes 3 (as shown) x LR521 batteries. So I went and got the batteries and I found that it is impossible to fit 3 LR521 batteries in there, and the LR521 seems a bit small for the slot (there are excess space on the sides after I put the batteries in), and with two batteries, the light still goes on but it will get dim in less then a minute. Then I found someone in this thread mentioned that the batteries that was originally inside the head was in fact LR621 not LR521, I also found out that there were indeed only 2 batteries originally. So I went and bought 2 x LR621 to try, and voila, the batteries fits perfectly and the light doesn't go dim anymore like with the LR521. On top of this, the manual also states that the "on" position of the switch is upward but in reality it's actually downward. So the manual is providing completely wrong information. I really don't know how Hot Toys could make such mistake, it'd be a shame if someone accidentally try to cramp 3 batteries in there and damage the figure, or putting the wrong type of batteries and wonder why the light is so dim and never find out why...

strange but even my endoskeletons didn't have that problem yet. i thought those small batteries don't leak.

I think it was War Machine Mark 1 that had problems with it.
Guys over here said that their batteries had leaked.
Remember:
Itīs from china, the materials they use are kinda fishy already.
Think ED-209 1 AND 2 fishy...and now translate to batteries, man.
:wink1:

Just for those who are concerned, the little plastic tab between the batteries has no bearing on leakages. The batteries can leak with or without that tab in place.

I have some Energizer SR 621 batteries in there. Although with no leakage and in great shape, the LED eye dims after a minute or so and fades out. Does anybody's LED eye NOT dim out?

The eye is definitely not supposed to dim out, Are they newer batteries? I'd replace them and see if that helps.

Yeah, I'm gonna hit up TARGET and buy a new pair. I'll report back here if the problem is solved.

No luck guys. I replaced the old batteries with a fresh new pair and still get a slow fade out after about 3 or 4 minutes. :(

Mine does the same thing, I thought it was normal. It would get dimmer after few minutes but not completely off. Same with Leds on weathervane that came with DX07.
