I don't know the odds of getting another Arnie from T2, but I'd like to see a figure with a clean headsculpt that rivals the DX13's. If it came with the Winchester shotgun and minigun, even better.

Maybe it can come in a two-pack with John Connor, complete with Public Enemy T-shirt and tiger camo jacket? I've always enjoyed the dynamic between the two characters and that's why I consider T2 better than T1.

While I love T1, T2 is more nuanced and interesting to me. They develop somethin akin to a father-son bond, whereas if they had met 35 years in the future, they'd be trying to kill each other.

Remember, we haven't gotten a 2.0 figure from the Terminator series, and you figure these have to sell well enough. My bet is it's going to eventually be the MMS one.

I always considered DX10 a 2.0 of MMS-117. I know some of the accessories are different, but still...

Completely forgot about this figure with all that's been happening lately with the other releases and announcements. Decided to weather up the BD jacket a bit. I didn't realize til now that the BD jacket was essentially the regular one but with the arm bit ripped off. Didn't notice the lack of any weathering on it til now. Need to add a bit more of a dusted look to top it off.

The silver buttons on the lapels? Do yours keep falling off? The one or two that have fallen off over the years seem to stay on with a small dab of Loctite adhesive. If you need extras small pinheads do the trick.

Yep, those silver buttons. Which specific loctite product would you recommend? The GO2 description says it dries crystal clear, which would be good thing in this case.

I don't know what happened to my stock head, but for some reason compared to the photos here, my semi-BD head comes off abit dull looking,
It could be all in my head, here's the picture:

143920

which really bugs me for some reason, so I decided to do some minor repaint (using my Enterbay 1/4 BD as skin tone reference) ;

first step, erase some of the blood jam, darken it & add a slight black wash :
143921
2nd step, try to emulate that veiny almost slightly sickly look that 1/4 EB BD got goin
also giving his lips (on mine it looks almost flat) that little shine, this wont be everyones cup of tea;
143923
final step, really go crazy on the semi BD jacket :) :
143925
143926

the difference is subtle, but its getting there.

I'm with you on the repainting of the BD parts and the weathering of the jacket, maybe not the lips...

the jacket though, is that really a DX13 jacket? Great job on weathering and futzing.

I would recommend lightening up the lips a bit to tone down the red. Other than that nice work.

That's the one I've used. Don't use too much 'cause it could "eat" the material. I haven't had any problems with the pleather material, but I did have some issues when I used it to stop a belt from fraying.

I didn't get a chance to go out and get any supplies but I figured I could use what I had at home. I popped a button off one of my spare jackets and placed it gluing side up on a piece of scotch tape so I wouldn't lose it or get it stuck on my fingers. I then scooped up a bit of gorilla glue with a small needle so I could put the tiniest amount on the button. Then I picked it up, tape and all, and lined it up just right on the jacket before sticking it in place. I left it in place for a few moments before slowly pulling off the tape. My semi bd jacket is complete again.

Until the next one disappears. The DX13 jackets in particular have been a bugger for this. I've also lost zipper tassels aplenty on my various T-800 jackets, although I'm not so fussed about those. They don't exactly draw the eye like missing silver buttons.

I decided to have just one DX13 on display, so I'll be putting up my extra DX13 body for sale soon if anyone is interested. It has everything you need to build a second Terminator if you have one full DX13 set already.

Having just one DX13 means I'll have to periodically switch that arm piece. Since it can be so hard to switch, I used a drill bit on the arm pieces to widen the holes. I widened them just enough so they still fit snug and require a fair amount of force to remove, but not a ridiculous amount like before. I just went through the drill bit set until I found one that fit the hole perfectly, then I went one size up and manually turned the bit to widen. I didn't want to get the actual drill involved due to noise (my family was sleeping), and fear of it having too much force and causing damage. I highly recommend doing this to avoid breaking the arm connector when switching the arm piece.

Best DX to date IMO.

I have some peeves with it and I swapped out the jackets for MMS117 ones where I could but otherwise I agree. Such a packed figure, it was only missing the teargas launcher which I would have preferred instead of the M-16 (since Sarah Connor came with that already - also I don't have a 1:6 scale liquid nitrogen truck to accurately pose him using that gun)

The only other DXes I have experienced first hand are 01, 02, 08, 09 and 14. My favourite of that bunch would be DX09 Keaton Batman probably.

Thus DX13/DX09 would be tops for me.

No problem at all. I'll check the reference pics again.
That's the DX-10 body with bulked up neck, similar to Mr. Ecko's mod. However, the DX-13 stock paint doesn't really match (at least not to my liking) with the body so I added a little red tones. I would prefer the DX-13 body of course but I don't like the idea of repainting rubber parts.

Cool, thanks for not smacking me about the head :lol I wasn't sure how easy or not it would be to add a little bit more to the hair after you've painted it all up.

I really thought it might be the DX13 body because you've got the neck looking so good. And I had noticed when, out of curiosity, putting the DX13 head onto a DX10 body that the skintones didn't really match very well so good job correcting that.

But even without a further hairline correction that there is the best Hot Toys clean T2 T-800 in existence right now.

Good job! :yess: this thing is only increasing in price as time goes on at the moment so it was wise to pick it up while you can at a relatively reasonable price. I think even if you paid slightly more than retail you wouldn't be too disappointed when you open the box.

Is anyone here worried about the 'leather' on these figures going to hell? I've seen posts of the leather clothing on the Blade Trinity Abigail as Well as the Ghost Rider cracking and falling to pieces from the figure. Has me worried about my DX-13 and contemplating not even bothering with the battle damaged T-1. Thoughts?

Well actually my 2 MMS02 jackets are showing their age with some flaking and crumbling. Although I have put them through the mill a bit over the years, switching them onto different figures, paperclip-insertions and all sorts of futzing....my brain rationalises it as battle-damage.

BadMuthaDude

The DX13 and MMS238 are battle damaged, so over the years the costume will become more accurate. HT can say it was a planned feature lol.

I did but wasn't willing to chance it myself, it was being offered by a different seller at the time. It was a commission type thing, hadn't been made yet - so basically an ebay preorder which people generally advise against.

And the seller that Snake has linked to doesn't ship to Ireland.

I think it looks nifty, a glorified display stand pretty much. It's actually impossible to recreate that scene convincingly anyway so that's the next best thing.

Probably looks freakin awesome. They really should ditch the DX10 and go with a DX13 for the pic.

Yeah a true representation would require something that would take up way too much real estate. I'd consider it, but my Arnie shelf is already at maximum density.

That steel mill stand is pretty neat but it has a Hasbro look to it, especially wear/soot on the girder and the bendy arm at the top. I think to make it worthwhile it needs to match the quality of the DX13 and at least for me, it's just not worthy.

Your set piece looks great, on the other hand, #Brian. Very realistic and I like that it doesn't constrain the figure to one pose.

I'm confused, sorry if it's a stupid question but are these modded?...I want to purchase the T-800 BD that SSC is pushing, but was wondering if that's what you guys did and modded it to look like the T-2 Arnie?

No, it's not modded at all. This is the Hot Toys DX13 from T2. The other figure is the Hot Toys MMS-238 from T1 that SSC is selling on the site right now.

Funny coincidence I was only just wondering if you'd have an update and I find you've posted.

Excellent job on matching both sides, no one else to my knowledge managed to do it or went so far as to do it as fully as you have.

Alas, and this is no fault of yours, its simply how Yulli sculpted it, the overall hair is just too damn short and too damn neat. Seeing the sculpt un-BDed and matched up like that somehow increases my aggravation at how wrong they keep making his hair - after I see the potential that is otherwise there.

That said, I've done another of my crude mock-ups with Windows paint using your new picture, I hope you don't mind.

When they display figures that well, I wouldn't give a toss how over-typical they are with collectors. One day, one day I will have proper shelves. Maybe they won't be detolfs if I can't them in Ireland but I can't wait to finally sort out my cluttered mess and have a Show Your Shelves thread.

Have to agree. Initially my plan was to go with custom shelving, but in addition to the cost, I don't feel anymore that I want my space to have that shelving locked in. If in a few years I want to downsize or sell off the entire collection, I don't want to be stuck w/$10k built-in shelving that won't be good for anything but displaying these figures (given how deep they'd have to be). I probably will just get Detolfs (or something else that is similarly modular) and be done with it.

Yeah I used to have built-in shelving for my Hasbro Star Wars 3 3/4'' collection in an old house. I wonder what the new owners did with it. To accommodate big Star Wars vehicles and dioramas the shelves were wardrobe depth but as you say there's not many other reasons to have such deep shelves taking up that much space.

I find DX10 particularly awkward in that regard. The interplay between the head and neck on that figure can look really unnatural. You might get one great angle but look at it from a different angle and it'll be terrible.

not unless you have ALOT of money to blow to buy the screen used props. Like the Terminator HK tank they used in T2 that went for like 60K if I remember correctly. Even if you could afford that, where the hell you going to put it. That thing was like 5 1/2 ft long and about 3 or 4 ft high!!!

Yeah. Some figures need a neckless sculpt like Indy but when its not needed then it should be vetoed. I know your extreme distaste for it but the neckless sculpt/ attached neck body looks no worse than it does on a Soldier Story figures. Its atrocious. They exclusively use their necked body for all releases. Its a real pity because first off Soldier Story is a top rate military figure company. Realistic sculpt and great paint, excellent tailoring, and they probably make the best weapons out of all 1/6 companies imo. And the real zinger is the necked bodies are 100% unnecessary. They're military figures, so they're loaded down with layers of clothes and weapons etc and you never see the neckline. Thats almost all their figures. Its irritating to have that hideous seam at the head. And for whenever reason its worse on their figures than others.

Yeah I guess the biggest problem with neck less sculpts is the neck doesn't move with the head, you turn your own head left right up down the there is movement in your neck of course.
So it looks weird if you turn your figs head and the neck stays in the same position, that's the biggest compromise I can see.

Did you use superglue on the loose magnet Pete? Best bet might be to go after the other magnet with the HT cheap glue and pry it out. Then reglue it the correct way.

Yup the good superglue too:panic: That's actually a good idea, I'll try that:)

Thanks again, I used DA's idea and it worked like a charm, I used another magnet to loosen the one on the back flap and weak hot toys glue to the rescue, came out with very little effort, this time I checked and rechecked four times before gluing it in this time:lol

Sucks about the magnet Pete. I have quite a few other DXs outside of Terminator, and more than once had magnets fall out. They must use a really cheap glue for it.

Great choice of camera buddy :lecture

Thanks,
I'm happy with it so far, it takes great pictures and has most of the features I needed, minus a light for video which I plan to get for it soon, but it costs half the price of a decent DSLR. That with the new tripod I got with it for Christmas I'm good to go for a while:)

My galixy S5 is 16mp as well, but it still is not a "real" camera, just a phone.

Hi guys,

First time poster here :)

Just opened up this bad boy recently (it was a Christmas gift), and it is indeed glorious. Only negative is that the LED eye no longer lights up, after only turning it on briefly a few times. From my lurkings on these forums, it doesn't seem as though anyone has figured out how to wire the head to a constant power source, so I guess I'm stuck with getting replacement batteries. However, the manual states that it uses LR521 batteries, while the actual batteries I took out were LR621 batteries! Are they interchangeable, or is that some kind of typo on HT's part?

I researched battery types on Wikipedia, and it seems that these are Alkaline, and not the superior Silver-Oxide type batteries. Does that mean that the LED feature will last longer if I found the Silver-Oxide equivalents? I also read some comments about fit issues with some brands of batteries, so I'm a bit lost when it comes to where to acquire quality replacements -- I'm assuming this same consideration will affect my other HT purchases (existing and down the line), so it seems like a good noob question to ask.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the party!

Lithium batteries are almost always preferable if you can get your hands on them in the right size, they last longer and generally don't leak all over your Ģ200 collectibles like alkaline batteries are prone to. If you have a good camera or watch shop nearby, they might be able to help - otherwise buy a good name brand from the internet.

As to the sizing of batteries for the DX-13, I'm sure A-Dev or someone similarly experienced will be here shortly who can tell you more about that :)
