Well, I did something which, to my eyes, worked pretty well. Just scratch the bejaysus out of them with sandpaper.

I better take some pics close up of the kind of wear&tear you can expect....

a-dev

K, scratch that. Pics aren't happening. Camera is $h!t. And memory cards aren't even working.

But I'm particularly pleased with how I've removed the excess darkness and sheen of the DX10 pants. The sandpaper will cause small surface tears in places but it only adds to the realism, particularly if you're weathering for scenes later in the film.

If you're happy with it, the "damage" doesn't even rate a mention. Especially if you've improved it, because it's no longer damage. :)

still one the best DX release IMO, 2nd would have to be Jack sparrow.

Pretty excited for the BD t1 terminator. Should have been a DX release

Yeah HT knocked it out the park with Jack.

Maybe if HT had not screwed the Indy sculpt up then the DX05 would be right up there.

Hehe, yeah it was fun doing that pic...
But actually, ill be taking that guys shotgun for the dx13... It might not be the best quality, but i believe it will do the job...
Haven't tried it on the whole dx13 yet, but i had the gun holding hand out, and it fitted it perfectly...
Im not sure about the launcher though... I think it shows its cheaper quality easier that the shotgun does...
Still, will give it a try, see how it looks on him...

Nothing really screen based with my pose but I like how he looks, until I get a DX10 M-79 he'll stay like this.
Recently I weathered the leather on my DX10 and I have to say I prefer it a lot more to the MMS117 & DX13 material so I may look into buying a second DX10 to give the full BD look to

Why can this otherwise crappy PF do a pretty good job on the hair and nail the head-shape (both frontal and profile) and HT can't?

The absolute perfect T2 T-800 is out there.....but unfortunately spread across multiple figures/scales/formats from multiple companies.

I checked some of my other boxed figures that have leather like clothing like last stand wolverine and the DX10 and they were fine as they're all stored in the same room. Any ideas?

^Good call. Use the liquid metal statue you must.

On a general note to all - what's the best way to achieve bullet holes in the jackets? I thought piercing with a sharp object would suffice but all that actually seems to do is create a slit, not an actual round hole that you can see through when you hold it up to a light source - like HT achieved on the DX13 jackets. I finally want to put bullet holes in some of my MMS117 jackets.

I always look for non-expensive ways of equiring a DX-13, but over the past few weeks many, MANY movies have washed ashore.

Squiggly spikes are difficult to translate into physical sculpt form perhaps but getting the hairline completely wrong and consistently ****ing up the length and general shape, just no excuse really. Other companies have done it well. Larger AND smaller scales.

The T-1000 by the way is even worse :lol It's laughably wrong in fact. We're always focusing on Arnie but Robert Patrick got a rough deal with that sculpt. I must do some squiggly lines for him aswell.

Sculpting an accurate facial likeness must be tough. I don't doubt that for a second. But getting a hairline right - that's basic observational stuff.

To be fair, Robert Patrick's hair changes throughout the film.

Compare the back shot of him from behind in the extended edition where he's acquiring that car. The back of neck has the flat, squared off hairline at the neck. But then, compare it to when he's meeting the Voight's at their door and it's much more longer and triangular like Hot Toys (though not as full/thick). That's not even counting the color.

I think Hot Toys is more representative of the Galleria where his hair is much fuller and darker.

I dunno, I don't think there is any accounting for the extent of difference on either the temples or down the back of his neck. I only noticed how wrong the sides of his head were pretty recently, I think while I was studying up on the DX13s hairline flaws. However the back, with how far down his hair goes, and into that weird point, I thought that looked bizarre from day one. And both the NECA and Enterbay sculpts confirm it for me, once again, HT just sorta makes it up when they're sculpting hair. Whatever liberties they want.

HIGH-TECH LUDDITE
"I was the first person I knew to have a cellphone in my car in 1983. At that point it was intriguing. Now I just see it as a ball and chain. I don't want to be that available to the world. I don't want to share every single thing I do. I look around the airport, and every single person is oblivious to the world around them. They don't live in the moment. I've made a conscious choice to not spend all my time ... looking down at a device. I refuse to do it. So there you have it. I'm a Luddite. But I'm a high-tech Luddite."

HE'S TWEETED, BUT DOESN'T LIKE IT
"I hate it. I hate everyone else's tweets, too. They're boring. What can you say in 140 characters? I can't even clear my throat in 140 characters." Same goes for Facebook.
"I don't even have a Facebook account."
DOES OWN AN IPAD
He uses the Apple tablet on the set. "It's a good tool. You can have your previews loaded on it, cuts loaded on it. You can have the newest special-effects shots come in for approval. It's useful."

Well, when I have about a few hundred million sitting in my bank account, I can have that luxury of not having a cell phone attached to my being.

Until then, Im afraid my work dictates me of having one at all time, along with browsing SSF occasionally every 10-15 min or so.

Fellow member Commando did a small run of these recently. There wasn't a list or anything, I would imagine your best bet would be to pm him and see if they are still available.

Cameron's idea was to show that technology/machine is by its nature amoral, it can be put to use one way or another way. T1 and T2 showed that very well. The line ''I know now why you cry but it's something I can never do'' gets dismissed as sentimental when from the T-800's POV it was actually a statement affirming it's own lack of sentiment, it's inability to have feelings. Granted a machine kinda using a metaphor seems unmachine-like but that's the result of his learning too I would say. The T-800 has learnt to give the appearance of sentiment, to know when to do so etc etc - such as the thumbs up before he disappears into the molten steel.

So, wanted to try and repaint them... But the thing is, as you guys know, the paint hot toys uses is very kind of matte... It doesn't shine or give any reflection...
What kind of pencil or marker or paint do you guys know of that would let me paint the eyebrows and leave no shine to it?
Please help!

it will all depend on your paint skills, but regular acrylic paint should work, then spray with Mr Hobby super clear UV cutting Matt sealer.

Hey guys, I'm new to these boards and Hot Toys collecting and I'm looking to get the DX13 Exclusive Version (alternate T-1000 head) as my first figure. If anyone has one boxed, new and unopened that they'd like to sell then please contact me. Sorry in advance if there's another thread for such things but I'm new here. I live in the UK should anyone have one to sell. Cheers.

Thanks! The details and accessories on this made me decide that he would be my first figure which is not a comic book character. I loved T2 when i was a kid and it was one of the best movies back then. My T-1000 is incoming at the end of the month [emoji6]

I wouldn't have any problems with the actual painting part, but I would have problems with the spray...
I once tried a matte spray on another figure... It was a mess, i was not able to apply the spray in the particular zone i wanted and it spilled all over it...
How would i be able to apply it only on the eyebrow, and avoid it being spilled to areas?

And even the spray wasnt very matte, it still left the figure very shiny...:(

I have already painted the eyebrow, i used a carbon based pencil... Its very dark, but once you put a light on it, it becomes very shiny... Like i said, my problem is getting it to look matte...

Not sure if this helps but I would Spray the matte sealant onto another surface, and when it's still wet take a brush and use it to apply the sealant directly onto the painted area

Mr Hobby is as matte as matte can be when sprayed properly.
It tends to be a bit shiny when brushed. I would remove or latex mask the eyes an spray the whole head to achieve an even finish.
Watch some youtube video on painting and practice on something else first.
Good luck, and the eyebrow looks really good so far!

I actually bought that, and had problems where the lacquer made the (acrylic) paint run, as if it had an alcohol base. Just FYI, I would test using this first on something you didn't want to damage. I'm guessing some different kinds of paints will be more resilient to this sort of thing.

^yes, testors dull coat is lacquer and you don't want to brush it on acrilic, especially pencil. You can air brush it decently. That's why I recommended the Mr Hobby, it's big in the ball jointed doll community (check out the den of angels forum) where people use powered pastel pigments and seal with Mr hobby, plus it won't yellow like testors. I've been modeling for 30 years...I wouldn't steer you wrong.

Well, after weeks of deliberating I've finally taken the plunge and ordered my first Hot Toys 1/6 figure, the DX13. Whilst I've had RoboCop on preorder for some time this will be my first figure. I really wanted the exclusive version but it's just too pricey. Anyway, I likely won't display it with the T-1000 so it's probably for the best. I can't wait! The wife's gonna kill me tho!

Cheers YF. Like I said I'm new to Hot Toys but I'm certainly not new to collecting film stuff in general and any T2 item of this quality is a no brainer. It was the RoboCop figure that drew me to Hot Toys (it's my all-time favourite film) and that seems to have turned out great but this one simply demands purchase. It's easily the best Arnie likeness any company has produced so far and the extras are superb. I'm gonna wait until the prices of the MMS238 drop to a reasonable level and make that my third purchase as aside from a few gripes relating to his proportions, I'm happy with how it turned out. Then I'll be looking forward to THAT Peter Weller facial sculpt next year.

Well now that they're tapped out on Terminator for the most part (excluding the Endo), they really have the slot to make a Classic-Predator-sized Original Predator. And a good Arnold Dutch to go with him. Like they're doing with the new Ripley and her inevitable foe, Alien 2.0

Awesome pictures as always, a-dev. Doesn't it hurt a bit when you spend so much time setting up these great displays and then you have to take them down. Or am I totally mistaken and you actually have a couple dozen of these dioramas!!!

As always, great pics, man! But this one really put a smile on my face. Thousands of guys have a DX13. But how many have a Sarah and John sharing a gas mask? :clap

Thanks man. That John Connor is also from Commando by the way, although I think that one was a one-off which I was lucky he offered to sell me.

:lol Just the one diorama and I swap out the figures purely for photo reasons. In fact right now the dio is way overcrowded with my entire set of T1 T-800s aswell as the usual Pescadero-related T2s. My displays are actually horrible, which is why I don't have a 'Show your Shelves' thread.

Welcome MG80. I'm new to these parts too. I've just ordered a DX-13 and have pre-ordered RoboCop. I'll be likely getting the MMS238 early next year and I'm also scouting for a Joker Bank Robber 2.0. Happy collecting!

Same too you 👍. We have good first collectors taste 😆. Enjoy.

my mom used to be a professional seamstress and I showed her this guy and my dx11 while she was visiting and she was dumbfounded by the amount of detail on the clothing

she was like "a lot of the stitching on these is hard enough to do full size, I can't imagine how they do it this small"

even old women are impressed by hot toys

It's excellent. While I'm no weapons expert it looks accurate to my eye when comparing to the film.

Just be aware it might arrive with this bit broken off, the part circled in red

Not my pic^

Have some glue on hand just in case. It's an easy fix. Commando also notes in a little leaflet that the gas cannister pieces are fragile although I haven't had trouble with those.

Mine came with that small pole and the gun handle broken off. But nothing super glue gel can't handle :wink1:

The tear gas launcher is really fragile and should be handled with supreme care. Remember, it's a toy gun...

Yep, so did mine, though I was able to just snap the handle back into place. I will add glue when I fix the (I'm guessing) range finder. Really like it but have to say Commando would've been better off just shipping this in three pieces -- handle, pole, main body -- as opposed to pre-assembled, as it seems impossible for it to arrive in one piece (also I could've used about 3x more bubble wrap in the clean container). It'd be a simple job to glue in oneself and would avoid the pole getting snapped at a weird angle or whatnot. Very happy with the gun, though, overall. Looks great.

This was my first HT figure which I got about two weeks ago and I've only had time to look at it very briefly (I've been VERY busy of late) before putting it back in storage. Trust me dude you will not regret getting this figure. It's incredible and the head sculpts are truly amazing. I can't wait to get my first Detolf and get it displayed. It's the best Arnie likeness I've seen and I prefer it to the BD Enterbay figure. My only real criticism is that it really should have come with the M-11 Grenade Launcher.

All things being equal, I prefer the Cyberdyne with the minigun look to the Steel Mill BD look. But failing that, the DX13 is the best Terminator to date.

Even so I'd say get the DX13. A DX10 doesn't completely get you the Galleria scene anyway. You'd have to buy the black T-shirt and the Rosebox separately.

I'm negotiating with someone for a DX13 now. I figure that I can wait until an Artist sculpts a custom Headsculpt to replace the "off" DX10 Head, then jump on the DX10.

Much as I think the HT sculpts could be improved I have yet to see a better custom sculpt materialise. Arnie isn't Heath Ledger or Christian Bale.

DX10's major problem is in the eyes. If you were gonna go the Galleria route with the figure, putting on the sunglasses would essentially hide the issue.

Invictus Sol

Yeah, I still think DX10 looks fantastic w/the shades. I also bought a black tee and rosebox from e.Bay, afterwards, so it would have to be a heck of an upgrade for me to purchase a 2.0.

I don't know the odds of getting another Arnie from T2, but I'd like to see a figure with a clean headsculpt that rivals the DX13's. If it came with the Winchester shotgun and minigun, even better.

Maybe it can come in a two-pack with John Connor, complete with Public Enemy T-shirt and tiger camo jacket? I've always enjoyed the dynamic between the two characters and that's why I consider T2 better than T1.

While I love T1, T2 is more nuanced and interesting to me. They develop somethin akin to a father-son bond, whereas if they had met 35 years in the future, they'd be trying to kill each other.
