No I still haven't done the makeshift bandage for the Steel Mill Sarah. One day I will, though I know I've been saying that for years.

You sure those sweatpants work? I mean not only are they on a male figure but they seem to be on a huge muscle-bodied male figure....

Yup ;)

Yeah, I'd be tempted myself if I had your abilities but I too would run into space problems pretty quickly. You have quite an eye for seeing these environments as if you are standing in them. Maybe because my focus tends to be on the characters when I watch the films but I'm impressed with the things you noticed about the environment like the broken rail in your Hasta La Vista diorama. And with this one, heck it didn't even occur to me that the gears were in that same area that Arnie is looking towards in the ''scanning'' scene - but of course they were, their fight occurs in a pretty small area.

DarkSpartan062
02-19-2014, 10:27 AM
Thanks buddy! Yeah after watching the movie and researching I was surprised to find that the whole scene was right there in that space. So if the left corridor was there too you could essentially replicate the whole fight scene. If I did that I'd also make the raised platform a bit bigger so it can double for the "t1000 slicing" scene as well. So many ideas and possibilities!

You could pretty much do all the key scenes at the steel mill. 2 done. There's also the head ramming with the sliding steel beam which is obviously the same area where T-1000 impales him through the floor and of course the Goodbye scene. Possibilities indeed, I love that steel mill.

^ That's one reason why I got two of these. That arm piece is a tight fit and I knew that this would eventually happen if I kept switching it.

One of the video reviewers on here had that break and he received a replacement. It will probably still stay in place, won't it?

I'm not sure. What I did was pulled the broken end out a glued it back on. Ill let it sit for a few hours and pop it back on and never take it off again. Suck. If it breaks again ill have to figure something out. Looks like I'll have to buy another body now as I won't be changing the parts up anymore.

No, Ive had this since it first shipped. This is only the second time I've switched it out too.

Yeah, I would definitely recommend heat for a minute or two if you swap the arms out a lot and that should help prevent the joint from breaking.

Yeah, I would definitely recommend heat for a minute or two if you swap the arms out a lot and that should help prevent the joint from breaking.

For sure. As silly as it sounds a hair dryer works really well for these types of things.

Send them an e-mail with photos of the damaged part and explain what happened, then wait for a response or call them directly during business hours and tell them the issue. That should get the ball rolling, if they decide to replace it they will likely ask you to destroy the defective item and provide prove of its destruction.

Hope that helps:wave

Yup. And keep us updated , ecko. I've had to email SSC before and they were always on top of it in a matter of 2 days or less, but recently they've been slacking, at least with a few people. I've been waiting 2 weeks for them to get back to me om another figure, which has never happened. Ill have to actually call them now and see what's up.

The only place big enough to house all my T-800s in one large group was the floor, and this looks awful frankly but people wanted to see what I have. My room is also too small for my to physically get in position to capture decent angles, hence the top-down crappy views of the DX afros.

Wow, thanks. One day I must try to actually take decent pics and see what kind of reaction it gets. Those top-down angles were very unflattering to the figures I thought, but in my small toy room I had no choice. I would have had to take the entire set downstairs to the kitchen to get a big enough surface, a high up enough surface and enough space behind me to stand far enough back etc etc

Getting good pictures is a hassle and very time consuming as it is, never mind having to transport them from one place to another

I have a love/hate relationship with photographing my figures. I hate it right up until the point I'm done and put them on my mac

So i can imagine having to photograph ALL of your figures and futz them etc is a real b-allache

No doubt worth it in the end i will add

And yeah Fiend I think they had some recently. I saw boots there that weren't there last I checked. The boots unfortunately are not something I want from the DX13 due to how clean they are. I'd rather get MMS117 ones or even DX10 ones. I need a body, pants, belt and boots to finish another figure. Its not urgent though unless I find them at Toy anxiety which isn't looking bloody likely.

I don't hate pers, but I prefer painted eyes every time, solid sculpted heads with painted eyes look more realistic, pers is a neat gimick but it creates alot of issues, elongated head shapes, ugly panel hatch, thick eyelids, and also a few other problems like magnets coming loose and pers system breakage. For all that it brings to your pose options it takes away way more than its worth IMO.

Sort of yeah, but I still think with painted eyes it blends into the sculpt more naturally to, at 1/6 scale most figures with PERS tend to have thick eyelids so it does not transition well and in certain light can cast weird shadows. I like how they did PERS on the DX13 as it looks pretty good, not so much for the DX10, but both figures would have came out better without it IMO.

Well said Pete. The DX13 is definitely the exception and the best PERS hs done to date. It actually doesn't bother me at all and kind of glad it has it. I think if all PERS hs are going to look this good, then I don't think many will complain about it going forward.

I'm refering to the dx10's ape like head shape from the side view, so yeah it does not effect all figures that way, I was just listing off issues from across the board which is not fair I suppose.

Ah. Well you know me, I don't miss an opportunity to criticise the MMS117 or DX10 heads. I just wouldn't have referred to 'elongation' because, in the sense that I would mean such a thing, I would be referring to the frontal view and the MMS sculpt was too squat, I felt that DX10 corrected that if anything. But the ape-like cranium in the profile view, well you know I agree with that.

I think it's a case by case for me now. With the new T1 figure, I don't see the need for PERS at all. He will be wearing the Gargoyles for the PS look. They do need to have an Endo eye switch for those sculpts, so I'm guessing the back of the hair will pop off similar to a PERS hatch. Hopefully they do a good job hiding the seam.

It really is a case by case thing now, especially after the dx13, I can't cast general digs at all figures with pers cause a lot of them are killer.

And an extra head sculpt and a bunch of accessories. Hell, it should be one with two bodies. Screw those awful looking add on bullet wound pieces from the first release, we need one clean body and one battle damaged with molded in holes, one of which should go all the way through. That would be a DX.

And yeah, moveable eyes, because PERS is great.

Frozen t1000 with snapped off legs and hand. One open mouth head sculpt, one closed as he walks getting frozen.

Shattered t1000 on the floor....

nice addition to the dx13 stage 4 :)

and my favourite scene in the film.

Ill admit it would be a nice addition and is something I would want, in regards to PERS in the figure personally I don't think I would be a fan of it in the T-1000 IMO the hatch is easily hidden on the dx13 because of the hair style and it just seems like it wouldn't be hidden nicely on the T-1000, not to mention the straight on stare is just pure menacing

I just got everything off of eBay. Overall I don't think I did too terrible, the body was the most expensive obviously (paid $99 plus about $3 shipping). All together I got everything else (DX13 shirt, pants/belt, boots, and bandolier) plus the body for under $200 which I thought was decent considering what the figure retails for and the fact that it's already getting harder to find. All I need to get is a second stand.

Cool. I was able to glue mine back together and I was even able to snap the forearm back on and it didn't break off again. The downer is I'll probably never be able to switch out the arm again. I'm way past the 30 days so I can't bother with SSC.

Opened this last night, amazing figure. I can see why a lot of folks has been praising this figure. Certainly one of HT's best, along with DX07 Luke in terms of accesories, sculpt, costume, etc.

Just a heads up, anyone who owns this figure need to invest in some proper glue (preferably gel glue) and remove those tiny buttons on the jacket lapel, pocket and the jacket loops and reglue em.

Those tiny mofos come off too easily and will get lost if you are not careful.

That's what happened with my DX10. One button detached while I was futzing around and didn't notice it dropped on the floor. Then came one day, I was sweeping the floor and saw a small silver round thing and I was wondering what it was and where'd it come from but I didn't bother to spend another minute thinking about it and just threw it away into the trash.

After a few days while I was admiring my Terminator collection, I saw DX10 jacket's missing one button then I realized on the spot what I had stupidly done but it was too late. The trash was empty.

Luckily, I found a replacement and glued it back.

Lesson learned: Never throw away any weird looking thing. It might end up one of the parts of your collection.

Do the MMS pants fit on the DX13 body?

I want to use the extra parts to build a second figure and basically want to have the SWAT look and the totally messed up look. I find having both next to each other with the knee damage make them look too similar. I was hoping to get the MMS pants to cover the knee BD.

And yes he's going to sell them as he did with the gargoyles or custom hs, probably directly on ebay.
No need to contact him for now he is still working on it and getting an announcement ready for when its available.

Pretty cool. What's that then, 5 current DX13 representations? What looks like 1 and a bit further planned?

On the blood removal front I was kinda paranoid last night that I may have taken off too much shine on the parts I worked on, comparing them to the sample's I didn't touch. I definitely did on the chest of my full BD standing figure, even exposing black underneath the paint in a small area. But the other figures I wonder did I make the endo-parts a little too matte or if the rubbing alcohol continued to have an effect even after I'd stopped, I dunno.

Pretty cool. What's that then, 5 current DX13 representations? What looks like 1 and a bit further planned?yeah five, will be six :)
but only three of them are complete sets.
i don't think i understood the last phrase though O_O

as for alcohol rubbing, it does remove the varnish a little, but it's so "a little" in my case that the surfaces are still pseudo reflecting, actually the bloody gloss is removed and not the "metal" effect. the head has the thinnest layer of everything (including "metal") though.
either you rub too much or you see too much :(
anyway when the goo is removed - i.e. when the figure becomes as it was meant to be and as it was advertised - it's such a huge difference.

You could try spray dull coat, that should do the trick.

Depending on how big your shiny spot is, I used some very very fine grit sand paper (more like sand cloth in this case as it wasn't on actual paper), I think perhaps 6000 grit from my modeling finishing supplies, on Batman Begins Bale sculpts tiny shiny spots from shipping. You don't apply very much pressure at all, but mainly let the paper slide across only the spot by its own weight so as to not let it remove paint. The goal is to scuff the shine, not remove hardly any material. A few light passes over it with a bent over corner of the sandpaper removed the shine and there's no way anyone could tell I took sandpaper to my expensive collectible.

But, people freak out when I've made this recommendation, so perhaps you should go at your own risk with it. It worked very well for me, might ruin your figure. I can only speak for my one time with it, and the shiny spots were pretty small.

BTW, if you go the dull coat route, I would urge caution. Testors I think is fairly universal, but you would still want to test it on a hand you never use from one or your figures, or somewhere you cover up on the figure. Some paints do not react well with certain other paints or plastics and can damage them. Many clear coats are lacquer based, which can be somewhat fickle when applied to anything other than lacquer. Keep this in mind when looking for a substitute. Water based acrylic would be the safest bet, and every clear coat I've used alters the darkness of the paint I applied it to. Expect some variation in the skin tone.

well, mine has it pretty much all over the forehead...:( just the damaged parts, and right conrer are ok... but the middel section is all messed up...
i actually have some sand paper... but i dont know... since i suppose a layer of paint has already been lost, there fore, the shinning part... i dont know what will happen if i use the sandpaper...
i wouldnt want to damage the detail on the paint...

Ive used a fibreglass pencil (the ones you get with car touch up kits) on shiny spots before with success, if you buy one of the retractible ones then you could extend it out so that it is not so harsh.

What grit did you use? I don't see any missing detail in the picture, so it must not have been too much detail lost, or at least isn't showing in the pictures much. But, yeah, if you slid it across a couple of times and think it may be affecting it you're wise to stop. That looks to be a large area too...not easy to fix. I've not tried the fiberglass pencil trick. If you try it, please let us know if that's successful.

yeah, it is kind of hard to notice it in the picture... after my first try, i used the sand paper once more... at hand you could see, some sligh effect on the paint detail, but it didnt improved the situation at all... so im not trying that again...
i also tried to use a replacement to the testors product i was sugested, but didnt worked either...:/ might need a different but more like testors product...
soon, i will try to find and buy the fiberglass pencil, as soon as i get it and try it on the figure, ill let you know...!
sadly, i might have to end up getting a new head... again, its a pain in the butt to buy it and get it send to where i live...:slap
hope i can get the head, at a good price, and to be in a good condition...

i was afraid to drill there, but there is nothing inside the body in that zone i guess. so it went totally ok.

and that's why he's trying to reach the rod:

I don't think it's 100% accurate, but it looks very natural IMO. If you'd like, I can take some more shots from different angles. I think lowering the arm at the shoulder and rotating it more inwards to the body will help. It also looks like you used a different hand holding the pistol, although I can't say for sure.

Finally opened mine up and posed him next to our Blitzway Scarface. Didn't have room in either of my detolf's so Arnold gets the position of pride in the hallway amongst scattered family photos.

Got him with full battle damaged look, armed to the teeth holding the grenade launcher. Such a great looking figure. Pretty sure this is all the arnold terminator I need. Would love to get one of the exoskeleton's someday, but for that I think i'll go for a life size bust or smaller statue.

Assumptions tend to be presumptions, it's in their nature :)

Presuming it's a girl's room isn't quite as bad though as the insinuation that there would be something wrong with the guy if it wasn't. If a guy wants a hello kitty poster on a purple wall, big whoop.

it's a DX13 palm, an MMS117 fingerless palm & forearm mechanisms, a DX10 sleeve (i happened to kill one set of DX10 clothes trying to weather them instead of painting) and some paperclip pieces.
i like attaching a skeleton palm base to a glove or palm with keeping the mechanisms functional, though in this case its ability to move doesn't matter.
