I think WL conversion is a good sign within 2 weeks it will ship! Same was with joker. Obviously the converts may get a bit later. Basically some first buyer credit cards are coming as decline or cancels etc. so, chug whatever you chug... And chug it good!

Thats a good point. The only other reason for conversion could be over production or lesser than expected demand in other geos. If thats the case, then i guess oct will be it. :( ... In a way gives me more time for $ allocation.

I'm on the Waitlist for the EX, but I'm wondering if it would be better to switch to the regular. I just don't want to sit on waitlist and then not have it converted while I can hop on a flexpay plan and know I'll get a regular one. I really don't care about the extra head. Why is the EX cheaper than the regular? It really doesn't make much sense. They usually are the same price aren't they?

Snake Plissken

Yeah, that was actually my question.

I think I'm going to cancel my WL on sideshow and pre-order it on BBTS. It's cheaper for the regular than on Sideshow, and the extra T-1000 head really isn't a huge deal for me.

Usually, the EX and regular editions are the same price, but in this case this EX is ten bucks cheaper. No clue why. At least from what I've noticed in the 7 months I've been collecting.

Just saw it too. I'm happy and upset at the same time. Happy that it's finally released, sad that it's along with the 1/4 Batman which means if my waitlists convert, it's $800 in 1 month gone bye bye. Wouldn't have minded an October release but I know everyone was waiting and it's my fault for not doing a FLEXplan months earlier so I'm glad it's finally here despite not being displayed in the COMING SOON photo.

No I don't. I have cool stuff but not the best displays. Shelves that aren't ideal which forces me to display things in a disorganised way just based on where they'll physically fit rather than where they would look best. They're also exposed to dust. When I'm done with my major toy-buying expenditure I'll focus on getting proper cabinets and so on. Then, and only then, a jedi will I be.

Thanks for the Birthday PM by the way.

Well, this year has been a crazy year. With all the 2.0 releases and also sequels, its gonna get crazy as crazy can get in coming years. Bit hard on wallet. I wont be spending as much next year. Only 4 preorders so far and am dreading more will flow for sure. A figure a month is getting way way too expensive.

First time I've seen it. Regular started out at $305 as well but for some reason they changed it. Actually, I think it might've been even cheaper than that when it was first up for pre-order but I don't remember, I might be thinking about the other prices that AE or BBTS were selling for.

I just think they can't produce the amount of figures they are in the amount of time give themselves so everything gets delayed, then they push certain figures more than others

Does anyone know why HT's delays the figures? QC? Trying to meet the PO demand?

I don't mind waiting like i said i have patience. It's just when they say it's a June release and then every month a week before they push it back another month. It builds my anticipation up thinking it may come the end of this month only to have it squashed typically even month

Everyone by now should know not to go from the original HT release dates so why do they even bother? just put a more realistic date down, when June came around they must have known it wasn't going to be a July/August release so why not just go straight off the bat and say October and if it comes in early people will actually be more pleased

Well, I guess it's something we have to live with when they make everything by hand.

Yeah, that is the worst time of the year for me to buy figures. The one on flex won't be too bad, but the 2nd at BBTS is making me rethink my decision for 2 atm. With a final payment including shipping and taxes, plus a whole other figure with Santa coming to town for 2 kids is pushing it. :slap Although the way it has been going, it could get delayed until 2014, so I guess I'm not too worried about it definitely showing up in Nov.

No chance in hell for this year. You always want to throw a 4 month buffer at the very least after an initial release date is set.

Although DX13 was originally June, and now were looking at 5 months later in November. If it gets delayed again I will be shocked.

Didn't DX10 come out in November/December?

Sidious-66
08-27-2013, 10:59 AM
Yeah I usually add a two month buffer onto the release dates and a further 6-8 weeks for them to get to the UK after they hit the States.

Kind of off topic but interesting - the latest issue of Empire has an interview with James Cameron where he says:

I've watched them both recently and I see The Terminator as a creature of its moment and, for me, it doesn't hold up...its too rough. Its fine for where I was at the time, its fine given the state the industry was in at the time, but crude by present standards. Still...it's a cracking good story. Terminator 2 I can stand behind. Even now it competes visually with anything that's being done now. I mean, the CG is a tiny tiny bit dated, but it was basically done pretty well. And so often imitated that it now feels a little clichéd, you know? I still think it holds up. I feel more proud of the second film as a film. I feel proud of the first as a moment in history, in my development as a filmmaker, and as a piece of writing and the accomplishment of a little scrappy team working under the radar. But as a film there are a lot of cringes in terms of the end result. For me its a great idea poorly executed.

Actually, that's not what I meant at all, hence the words, "QC issues delaying production." Unless you think I'm alluding to time travel, that in no way can be mistaken for QC issues on the final product. I was going to provide some info on the manufacturing process, but I have a feeling that, like my attempts to explain the prototyping process, it will be largely ignored.

All I'll say is that it is not unreasonable at all to speculate that manufacturing issues are causing delays as it is common with all types of manufactured goods, even things that are not nearly as complicated as HT products. In fact, it is much more unreasonable to reject such a notion.

All I think Cameron means by his comments is that the tech they used (aka the dummy Arnold head) is bad to the point where it can take you out of the movie for a bit. In some of those shots, it looks nothing like him. Product of the times.
We all know what he's saying.. it's just reminiscent of Lucas, that's all. :lol

We LOVE the roughness / rawness - that's the charm, they don't. :huh

I guess if we were in their shoes, we'd have a completely different perspective though of course. :lol

Probably in the minority here, but I much prefer T1 to T2.

Idk I think I just liked Arnie as the bad guy. Come to think of it, is Arnie the bad guy in any other movie ? :dunno

Hang on ! I thought of one more:

Total Recall (before memory is erased) & Batman & Robin come to mind.

Artists always tinker with their "Babies." Even when I write stuff, I still want to go back and change stuff.

The Terminator was and is a great film. However, I'm sure it didn't come close to what Cameron had in his head. From a visual and effects standpoint.

True. But hey at least he has the sense to leave the original alone. And I still think he could make a better Terminator film now than anyone else could.

That's true. And I'd be first in line if he ever decided to make another Terminator film. I still want a film of the future we saw in T1.

I can't believe Cameron is so hard on T1. To me it has always been his greatest film ever. I wouldn't change a single thing.

Still one of my favorites. :D

Cause we had seen Avatar's story before. It was your basic stranger in a strange land becomes accepted premise. I enjoyed the film, but I was never impressed with the story Cameron told. Same with Titanic.

T1 and T2 are for more interesting, and entertaining films. I actually thought T2 posed some interesting questions on Paradoxes and Human condition.

I can't really pick one Terminator film over the other. I love T1 for how dark and cold it was but I love T2 for it's excitement, effects, characters and story. T1 was simple and straight forward and it works and I believe it holds up still. T2 was a bit more laid back. Although either film would falter if you reversed the "mood" of each film I think.

Hmmm, T3, basically was just T2 all over again. I mean Arnold pretty much wore the same outfit. Salvation at least attempted to try something different even though I feel they failed big time.

I thought Anton Yelchin was an Awesome young Kyle, and got his mannerisms down pretty good. Also, John Connor fighting the 84' Arnold was pretty cool...

:lol Too funny. Yeah, not Bale's best. Also, I can't stand Sam Worthinton.

Yeah, I only liked Anton and the 84' T-800 cameo.

The Hot Toys figures look cool, but if that's the high point of a movie, it's in trouble.

P.S did anyone watch the short lived Sarah Connor Chronicles T.V show? I had no idea the dreamy Lena Headly was in it.

The fact that Arnie was mostly the good guy in his films prior to 1991 really makes me wonder how it was ever in doubt that he'd be playing the good guy in T2. And especially after 'Bad to the bone' played - you wouldn't announce a serious villain with that song. At that point in the film it should have been all but confirmed he was the good guy.

I think I was 8 or 9 when this came out and even back them I remember hearing that he was a good guy this time. Even before it was released. I don't really think they tried to fool anyone.

Man, judging which of T3 or T:S was worse is a toughie. Not sure I can make that call. Both were so tremendous at sucking in their own, distinct way. . .I guess if I had to choose though I would say T3 sucked worse, just because the guy playing a young Kyle Reese in Salvation was pretty good and memorable to me. I'm not sure there was anything good about T3 that I can remember.

T4>T3 in my book, T3 turned terminator into a joke, to much cheese and a lame story. T4 gave us a cool T600 at least, story was average with a lot of holes but was overall entertaining, it just lacked the big war scenes I was hoping to see.

On the other hand, I can forgive T3 some of its faults because it didn't try to take itself all that seriously. T: Salvation pretended to be this epic dramatic Terminator film, but was just average and forgettable at best. . . . .I can't believe I'm sorta-kinda defending T3 here.

I can't believe I'm about to defend TS, but I feel it had a few things going for it. I've mentioned them already. Mainly Anton Yelchen. I don't recall T3 having anything going for it. Not taking itself seriously isn't something I feel we should commend a Terminator film on.
